Commission hiatus this summer, more personal art
Posted 4 years agoToday will be a bit of a personal non-art journal.
For a lot of reasons lately I'm starting to consider a change of career (previously, outside of my artwork here and on other galleries, my career was in technical drafting using CAD softwares). As a result, I've begun slowly looking into new fields of work, with the possibility of a potential "return to school" to study a new field altogether. There's a couple of things I'm slowly considering, but for now there's little I can talk about.
Having saved up a decent amount of money over the last couple of years, I'm thus giving myself some time to think about it but as a result this also means that I will take a full hiatus(outside of possible gift commissions for very close friends) from commissioned artwork possibly for most of the summer to remove the remove the distraction and pressure of production while I figure things out.
This said, my galleries and Patreon will still feature more artwork from me.
Simply said (I do still need something to keep myself occupied after all), it'll just be more personal pieces than commissioned works. There's a couple of things I wanted to explore there as well and taking the pressure from having to complete series of commissions should help as well.
So all in all, thank you for reading this and continuing to support my works. I'll keep you up to date on how things develop and in the meanwhile I hope the personal art to come will continue to be works that enjoy and be pleased by!

12-17 - Recovery and small temporary changes to commiss...
Posted 4 years agoHello. So to cut things short I've been unavailable these last few weeks due to contracting COVID despite our best care(I won't get into the details, but we're kind of annoyed at the context we caught it after being careful for so long) and was pretty much floored for the last two weeks. In terms of way to start the month, let's just say it could have gone much better. Symptoms were admittedly (thankfully) light, but muscular aches and fatigue I dealt with left me unable to do much for most of the month and despite having finished my self-quarantine last week I'm only just now starting to have enough energy to pick up my pens and pencils again.
In other news, I'm currently done with my current queue since a bit now and will be re-opening for commissions again but with one caveat: I will not currently accept TF process commissions. This include not just TF sequences but also mid-TF illustrations. Part of my motivation is that I want to focus more again on the character art and character concepts because though I still get praised by some for my TF work I've noticed I've begun to struggle with the "character" part of these sequences I'm frequently worked on this year and thus is starting to negatively affect my perceptions of even my own TF work.
Thus for a bit I'll try to focus on character and character concepts commissions. I might still accept TF themed characters but only if what I'm asked to worked on is concepts/art of the "before" and "after" forms without having to worry about the "process" of the transformation.
All of this said I hope everyone is doing well and that your holidays proves to be good ones despite these tough times!

Plugging away at commissions!
Posted 5 years agoHello, just a status update that I'm still plugging away at commissions! There's been a pair of sequences lately so it's not fully ready to post yet as I prefer to post sequences in full to make them easier to browse rather than piecemeal uploads but there is indeed art on the way soon!
On a similar note, with some of the progress I made there is now another opening at the end of my queue for more commissions! If you're interested, just hit me up with an email at fringecrow[at]gmail.com so we can start discussing the details!

09-24: Recent life news, still open for commissions
Posted 5 years agoI don't want to delv into it too much but this weekend will be the funeral of my grandmother. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't rough but fo us life must go on. We'll manage, so don't worry too much.
On the work front, due to a lack of workload coming out way I've been officially laid off a few weeks ago. As a result, I'm still open for commissions, so if you're interested do hit me up with an email at fringecrow[at]gmail.com so we can hash out the detail of your request.

Sept 9: Return of activity, open for commissions
Posted 5 years agoThings have been... kind of crazy. I won't get into too many details but work "vacations" proved a bit more hectic than expected. And return from vacations was... less than optimal in a way that can be best summed up as work having underestimated how many projects we cleared before our vacations and thus overestimated how much work would be left upon our return. To sum things up: not a whole lot. Add other family stuff I've had to deal with in August and I'm only just now starting to get back on track with well, everything.
As a result, barring surprise calls from my workplace, I'm fully available for art commissions in the foreseeable future and will start resuming art posts at a more regular frequency! I've already got one commission lined up, uploaded a recently completed one today and got the colors for a WerewolfWednesday piece ready to upload. Plus with a new work space for my art, my pace should start picking up with a bit more regularity.
Either ways, there were some bad news in my life but I'm managing and try my best to be active with my artwork again!

Jul 21: Open for commissions and still around!
Posted 5 years agoLong time no updates here, sorry!
To sum things up, back in June in started(or rather returned to) a dayjob in drafting and unlike previous contracts I've been working mostly full time until now. This has definitely been good for my wallet(especially thanks to a minor raise on top of the added hours) but meant much less energy and time for art, especially as I found myself having to readapt to that kind of schedule.
This said, as my job is tied to the construction industry and it's vacations which just started, I'm now back home until the 5th of August so I'm trying to pick back up the art pace a bit and I've also re-opened for commission! As you can see I've just uploaded a new portrait commission for
Rachelicious and I'm now in the process of starting work on a new piece for Ryman654.
If you are interested for a commission of your own, just hit me up at fringecrow[at]gmail.com and we can start discussing the details!
In the meanwhile, thank you all for continuing to support and look at my work, I hope you enjoy what I create!

May 6: Open for Commission!
Posted 5 years agoFirst of all I want to thank everyone who commissioned me last month. April thus far has proven to be one of my most productive month in a very long while and I'd be lying if I said I didn't need that. It had been a long while since I felt capable of reaching such an output and it was really recomforting to see I was indeed capable of such.
Now with all the recent commissions I posted, my queue is actually back on the leaner end again. However, rather than rest on last month's laurels, I want to state that I'm still open for commissions! If you're interested in anything, just look at my pricelist ( https://www.furaffinity.net/view/35272417/ ) and send me an email at fringecrow[at]gmail.com and I'll be glad to start discussing the details with you!

Mar 19: Updates, commissions, etc
Posted 5 years agoGosh... what a crazy month, right? I'll admit I didn't expect how things would turn or the speed they would so it'd be lying if I said I always had an easy footing this month.
On lighter more productive note, I'm finally making some progress on new commissions again and I should have a new commission up this weekend alongside the personal art previously created for my new commission pricelist, so this is content I hope you will all enjoy.
When it comes to ongoing commissions, I've also begun work on a new sequence for a client and should be starting another for a second client as well. However as production will be paced, there will still be opening for other projects should anyone be interested in me producing anything for them(just drop me an email at fringecrow[at]gmail.com first!) :)
In fact, on that subject I'm actually starting to consider looking into Trello this weekend to possibly start using it for my queues as a way to keep(and broadcast) a more easily maintained queue of what I'm actually working on at the current time.
This said, I hope everyone is holding up as well as they can since I know these are rough times and I wish you both the best for the week to come as much as I continue to be thankful for the continued support and interest I get from you all for my art!

In the meanwhile, my contract at the drafting office/job just ended(this might be however a temproary situation, but I will have to see how things go first) which leaves me sadly bereft of one of my previous sources of income. Thus I'm open for more commissions , especially now that I temporarily find myself working on art full time again.
I recently posted my newer prices in my last journal post ( here : http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/9400828/ ) but I'm also now in the process of producing an illustrated version of the new pricelist which I hope should be available soon! As usual if you're interested in getting something from me, do hit me up with an email at fringecrow[at]gmail.com and we'll be able to start discussing your request.
In the meanwhile, I thank you for the continued support of my work and wishes you a good day!

February 5: Commission Queue Empty, new prices in the wor...
Posted 5 years agoHello!
So current watchers might have noticed that I just posted a new commission today. This was done for
Pathia and Gracie, whom I give my hearfelt thanks again to for the support and chance to work on such a project. As it turns out, this was also the last of my queue, which means I am fully open for commissions again!
So if you want to commission me, do hit me up with an email at fringecrow[at]gmail.com but also DO look up at the new prices listed further down below in this journal!
As this last commission was also the last under my older pricelist. Thus, as a result, future commissions will all be under a new pricelist, the old model already pre-emptively taken down to avoid causing confusion. While a formal illustrated version of the new pricelist has yet to be produced, the prices themselves however are already decided and thus are included in this journal.
Before I post the new prices, I will state that "Ink", "Colors" and "Painting" options will remains, perhaps with slight increases for the former two and a more notable one for painting(to better represent the amount of work it currently takes me to produces a painting of satisfying level in my eyes). Where things are seeing changes however is a better categorization of the scope/complexity of a picture however.
Previously, my prices were "one size fits all" that forced me to occasional make "special" prices for pictures that were clearly going to be easier to render than a fullbody illustration(like a portraits) but also struggled when a picture's complexity or width sometimes went beyond the scopes of works I based myself upon when originally setting the prices.
Thus, new options are specifically given at all levels for portrait, partial body and full body illustrations while featuring set prices(and descriptions for such) for simple and complex poses(something the old pricelist often specifically struggled with).
For an example, at 55$USD, the new pricing for "Ink+Color, partial body, simple pose" is equivalent to the pricing of my old pricelist for generic "ink+colors" which in truth had actually been decided on a similar type of illustration initially. So in this regard, prices didn't as much "increase" from the old pricelist than simply made room for more accurate pricing for more complex works.
So without further ado, here is how the new pricelist will work:
To start, a full explanation of what I mean about "simple" vs "complex" poses as categorized in the pricelist:
Simple/neutral pose: A pose where the character is standing in a neutral or general relaxed pose. They can be hunched slightly and so on, but generally not doing any drastic movement or arms/legs motions. Example includes: "Standing" poses, talking to another nearby individual while perhaps waving an arm, checking one's phone in the street while walking at a relaxed pace, leaning against a wall, or even a werewolf serenely howling at the moon in an easily rendered profile shot. Many standing, "after the facts", post-transformation poses can also fits in this category.
Complex/dynamic poses: Poses that are either very dynamic or nonetheless complex to render even if there is little "motion" going on. The includes the likes of running/fighting poses but also static but complex poses like a character sprawled down on a bed seen from a front view perspective(rather than a more easily rendered angle seen from above) and beckoning another with crossed legs/etc... or such scenes mixing motion and static such as a character on their knees and struggling in the midst of transformation to another creature, especially with the melding of anatomies this include.
Portraits: Picture where only the head, or shoulders and up, of the character is visible. Due to the very tigh focus, there is no complex/simple posing option.
Inked: 35$USD
Inked and Colors: 45$USD
Painting: 100$USD **
Partial body: Pictures where most, but not all of the character's body is visible, generally feets being not(but there could be exceptions based on pose). Examples are thighs and up or prominent upper body and the such.
Inked, simple/neutral pose: 40$USD
Inked, complex/dynamic pose: 60$USD
-
Inked and Colors, simple/neutral pose: 55$USD ; this is comparable to the old "Ink+Colors" option of my old pricelist at the same price.
Inked and Colors, complex/dynamic pose: 82$USD
-
Painting, simple/neutral pose: 160$USD ** (Currently unavailable)
Painting, complex/dynamic pose: 240$USD ** (Currently unavailable)
Full body illustration: This is the category for illustrations where the character's full body is entirely visible from head to toes, with all the added details and composition work it requires in terms of setting up characters to fit within the canvas/paper.
Inked, simple/neutral pose: 50$USD
Inked, complex/dynamic pose: 75$USD
-
Inked and Colors, simple/neutral pose: 70$USD
Inked and Colors, complex/dynamic pose: 105$USD
-
Painting, simple/neutral pose: 200$USD ** (Currently unavailable)
Painting, complex/dynamic pose: 300$USD ** (Currently unavailable)
Extra charges:
Background: +50%
Extra characters: +50% per characters
Note that such charges are up to discussion before the start of the work during email correspondance(this also applies for how I will determine whether a work will be categorized under "simple" or "complex" pricing for poses).
So these are the new prices. I hope they prove detailed enough without being overwhelming to people interested in my work! Ultimately, as noted by the note next to partial body ink+color prices, the pricelist is still somewhat based
And some of you might have noticed that Painting style work are currently unavailable. The reason behind this has a couple of different facets but... to put it simply: Painting takes me a lot of work. Generally multiple days of it to get a rendering that satisfies me. For this reason I increased the price of Painted commissions more than any others to better reflect how much work they represents... which brings me to the specific reason they are unavalaible for the time being; that with such a price increase I need to myself create specific paintings that can serves as examples of my works under the new pricelist AND see if I should thus adjust painting's prices up or down based on that formal experience. Thus, until I can create these examples works, painting commissions will remain temporarily closed.
So... that's it. I hope that the new and more detailed prices still proves appealing to those who have commissioned me in the past or might intend to again, and with this I wish you a good day and thank you all again for your support and interest in my work!
So current watchers might have noticed that I just posted a new commission today. This was done for

Illustration Poll 2 (Patreon)
Posted 5 years agoCareful people might notices it's actually been a bit since the last time I uploaded art. The last month has been really rough on me but the situation is finally starting to clear up a bit which is why I am now kicking things up by starting Illustration Poll 2 is finally up on my Patreon for 5$+ patrons to vote on: https://patreon.com/posts/illustration-2-33568237
This was a long time in coming due to life stuff, but there's a fair diversity of subjects to choose from, so I'll be eager to see what patrons pick! Voting will be open up to February 2nd at 12pm. If you aren't a patron yet, I thus reccomend to wait until at least the first before voting since my Patreon charge upon pledges and you might risk getting double-charged if you pledge sooner.
In other news to keep an eye on, I nonetheless managed to finish a new commission last week, which should finally get uploaded this weekend now that I finally have some time to get on with that(seriously, I wasn't kidding by saying the last month was brutal on my end ^^; )!

Closing 2019, status update & upcoming changes
Posted 5 years agoGood day everyone! 2020 is almost there so I figure it was a good time as any to give a small status update on things here; from work currently underway to other projects and upcoming changes.
So, to start, upcoming changes:
Commissions Prices:
A major change I'm planning for 2020 is a pricelist update. I've made progress with my inked style which means I feel I'm starting to more reliably push works whose quality satisfy me, but it also means I'm becoming more aware of what can add to the time of production vs what kind of pieces are quicker to produces. Similarly I'm finally able to tackle painted works again thanks to currently unshared warmups, but also know what kind of push I'd need to perform to get the most out of it which might require adjustments again.
One of the bigger change will thus be less on the prices for individual "grade" of pictures(ink/color/painting), but specifically try and introduce more detailed pricing for background/complexity as well as format(simple portraits full characters or scenes) to better reflect what types of works are easier/quicker to produce versus what kind take me longer to make and for which I may have to charge more.
As such, currently queue commissions will not be affecting by this future pricing change but I may hold off temporarily from taking new commissions(bar exceptions) until the new pricing and pricesheet is ready.
Work Schedule:
The holidays have allowed me some freedom to have more leeways to truly "rest" during the weekends, as before the holidays my commissions/personal projects/office work schedules was leading me to basically unofficially work 7 days a week, which was running me ragged before the holidays. I'll thus have to make some hard choices in the coming week to figure what schedule might work best for me though it might mean some less time for commissions. Ultimately it also made me realize I need to find a way for the weekend to remain a weekend even if the placement(and sleep schedule my commute impose on me) of my office workshift in the week make it harder to manage commissions during weekday.
I have a loose idea of how I might adapt thing, but it's still a layer of uncertainty for me how much it will work out however. I do kind of hope I can manage something where even with less days to work on commissions I can still get more reliable amount of days during those days due to proper rest. It might also means more concerted effort regarding my sleep schedules so that office shifts don't feel like such a clash in my week, one of the thing I struggled with a lot in the past.
Now, current works:
I've recently completed a commissions(awaiting payment before I upload) and the illustration for a poll on my Patreon just yesterday. I still have about three separate commissions in the way, so it's my hope to finish a couple more before the week ends. Thus my current schedule is to try to make as much during monday to thursday(with likely a slower pace on the 31-1 of new year's eve/new year however) and to try to make progress on personal projects such as my comic I've begun to show the early progress of on my Patreon.
With this said, these are current plans for the week. The next one is also going to be much busy with dentist appointment at the very start of the week and return to the office at the end, so I don't know how much work I'll be able to get done then. If I have time at all, it'll likely be spent focusing on leftover commissions and/or preparing my pricelist for the upcoming year. With this said, I thank you all for the continued support of my work and send you my wishes for a pleasant end to 2019 and hopefully great 2020!

Holidays Schedule
Posted 5 years agoThe holidays are almost here! Sadly, this means a small shake-up of my schedule. Mostly events this weekend has delayed progress on commissions and similarly a shift to my office job's schedule this week has also thrown a bit of a wrench in my plan. Thus art schedule will go as follow:
COMMISSIONS: Commissions have been delayed a fair bit. For today, I will focus on getting sketch for one or two of my pending commissions today. Then due to the schedule shake-up this week I might try to sketch the rest next Saturday and Sunday. The idea is laying down the foundations for current commissions project so that completing them in the subsequent week(where my day job won't be in the way until next month) will go promptly even with Christmas stuff(of which there should be thankfully a bit less to deal with this year).
Patreon comic WIPs and Poll Illustration: Personal project such as the ongoing comic, Le Beau et La Bete, I've begun to tease on my Patreon as well as the illustrations for the 5$+ patrons' poll were normally worked on Tuesday and Wednesday. Sadly due to the schedule shake-up this week, it's impossible to do them at the usual date so I will instead try to do some of that work on Friday instead.
With all of this said, I want to thank all of my commissioners and patrons for their wonderful patience and support and wishes you all happy holidays!

September 23: New(sorta!) job soon!
Posted 6 years agoSadly, no french version of the journal this morning due to slight lack of time.
Just to assuage any worries from the start: My art queue is still very much ongoing! I just finished a digital painting and it's freed slot might have already been taken by the same client(I'm awaiting confirmation to make sure this is indeed the case).
Next in line will be two color-inked images for two different clients and once those slots are freed I will again make announcements to make it clear!
Now for the meat of the matter: My old technical drafting job at an industrial pipe welding shop from November2018-April2019 just called me again asking if I had openings for another go of part-time employment there. Thus Thursday I will be starting there again as a technical drafting two days per weeks(though if like the last year, I might do three days weeks occasionally during some stretches where the demand is more intensive).
The money will help me get a bit more stability while still leaving me plenty of time for artwork. In fact, the many changes I brought to my process(particularly on the inks+color front) after my last go there means I'd likely have a much easier time at it this year than the last!
This said, since it's not until Thursday I will be focusing on current artwork still in the meanwhile(though I might take it a bit slower to prevent overstraining my carpal tunnel prior to doing full work days at a computer with mouse+keyboard**) so expect at least one commission or two more to show up here again!
Once the weekend rolls in I might try and see how the week went to determine how I will schedule art for upcoming weeks. Since my own drafting weeks might have somewhat varying schedule, I might take on a more flexible schedule for art where I ensure myself one specific day for full rest but leave the rest of the week to see if I produce art or focus on rest(especially during weeks where my wrist is experiencing more strain than usual)
Thus I can at least say this to sum up what to expect of coming months:
-This is part-time work, so even the more intense weeks are purely three days long, leaving time for other stuff(in fact this is the reason perhaps a more informal schedule for art might be best since situations can go back and forth with the lenght of drafting weeks).
-This is somewhat intensive work for my carpal tunnel as said, even as a part-time deal. I'll try to alleviate this by looking into ergonomic mouse models if I can be allowed to use my own mouse at work but it's a thing to keep in mind. I will also put a temporary hiatus on full painting commissions since they are more strain on my wrist than my humbler ink+color style(thankfully this should be easy as there are currently no pending painting commissions and only inks+colors ones).
-This is a job with sometimes unpredictable production cycles; they are very dependent on a very few key clients which means that the lenght of this contract will likely be unpredictable. It could be as short than a single month and a half or as long as getting well into the next year such as spring or almost into summer. So it's hard to say how long this will last. On the flip side, the revenues made will only add up to what I've already saved up which will give me more breathing room to schedule/plan out the aftermath once I get there(which in turn might means to an even better situation on the art front after I'm done than before I started).
All of this said, I want to thank you all for the continued support and I fully intend to continue producing art projects that I hope you will continue to enjoy!

August 17: Commissions Updates
Posted 6 years agoHello everyone! As you can see, I've just uploaded a new pair of commissions to my galleries.
As it stands, things are getting busy(a good busy mind you)! As of currently, here is the status of my queue:
- Two inked color illustrations(for an eventually large sequence) for a new client.
- One sketch* for
Kraidstick
- Another Patreon inked color pic for Rhentin
- Also another potential sequence for Rhentin(depending on lenght, it might be produced in chunks to leave room for other commissions in parralel)
While there's a bit more in my queue than usual, I would like to also mention that I'm still officially opened for commissions. If anything interests you, feel free to hit me up with an email at fringecrow@gmail.com and I will immediately add you to my queue!
