Howl-o-Ween 2014 and costume contest info
Posted 11 years agoFor those who haven't seen on Meetup and Facebook, Howl, the Colorado Furry Community Halloween party, will be held on November 1st at the Highland Park Pavilion (3220 Federal Blvd, Denver, CO 80211) ^^
The costume contest will award for the most creative, most original, the cutest, and scariest costumes, and prizes will be given in the order of which ones we think are best.
The new venue tells us they won't screw us on anything like Tracks did last year, and said they would provide free water stations as well.
There are 2 floors, the top floor being the dance floor this year. Everyone gets in for a $5 entry this year.
More details are on meetup (http://www.meetup.com/Colorado-Furr.....nts/203734082/) and Facebook.
Thanks!
(and sorry for the lack of posting this sooner - been working super crazy hours trying to get an important project done at work)

fursuit snowboarding - Last day at Copper
Posted 14 years agoFeel as if I was on good drugs after today's insanely elating day boarding as a fox with Snowball and Rithuld! I feel kinda crazy with how more and more it makes me so so happy! Even the bus ride was a lot of fun (:?)
As usual, most everyone at the resort has so much fun with it!
Today was one of the best days of the season, with lots of great joking with people, comments, warm smiles, and tons of laughter.
It also seems like more and more people are recognizing us up their as Furries (+ quite a few calling us fuzzies and furbies).
I know there are other great ways to suit and have fun with the public, but will really miss my crack this summer.
(guestimated stats today on what I was called: 85% fox, 6% wolf, 4% dog, 3% bunny, 2% other -- including care bear, coyote, tiger)

I'm on youtube again! (snowboarding this time...)
Posted 14 years agoWent riding with
snowballz this weekend at land, and he was so sweet to take video and compile/upload this youtube video for me without me even asking!
I like the laid-back music that doesn't make me want to pop open a can of mountain dew (like so many other snowboarding vids)... and I don't remember sliding on my tail that much! (lol)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lbo-iY4bfWM
(Most of the footage is in the upper part of the mountain, where there is hardly any people and a few flat spots..)

Actually going to make it to FC!
Posted 14 years agoDecided at the last minute to go. Hope to see you there!
Miss you all!
Posted 15 years agoWow I need to post more!!!
Quick note- I'll be hosting a furmeet in the eve of the 23rd of April at my place. 2759 W 38th Ave in Denver proper.
Been loving life and all that it has to offer! Also been hanging out with peeps way too much, as well as trying to keep myself busy and get things done so I'm not so busy lol.
I've been dating a bit and getting a feel for what I want in a new relationship.. Also went to visit Seattle in early March and dated a really really great guy out there, but in short I discovered that I am not ready for a move and really cling on to Denver as well as the friends I have out here <.< Since then I've kinda been putting a lot of social things on hold and seeing if I can ready myself for such a big change in my life/ready myself for sacrificing all that I have built with everyone here in Denver. Also it has been great motivation with trying to work a lot more on the house and get it in better shape, regardless of whether or not I chose to leave. Things were moving really fast, and I just didn't realize in the speed of things how much I really love it and love everyone here in Denver and don't want to leave. I just don't think I can leave.
Also-- if you are lazy and don't know what to say in a comment, don't worry and don't post one. I have been really bad about keeping up online (as usual), so I have no expectations about having people keep up with me. I am just posting this cuz I know I should do more to keep you updated :D.

Howl'o'Ween thanks/stats and plans for next year.
Posted 16 years agoMany thanks to all the Colorado furs that made this event happen and work so well! I hope everyone had fun and an enjoyable night!
We recovered 92% of our costs, which I am certainly not complaining about! Thanks to most everyone for contributing! I don't know what the final count was, but I counted about 80 during the announcement of the costume contest. So I'm guessing around 90-100 furs attended during the parts of the night.
The Masonic Temple director, John, had a really great time partying with us, if you couldn't already tell. He mentioned to me that he loves us because he thinks our organization is doing good/making a difference for the world by bringing people together to have fun. <3 Of course, I totally agreed and it has always been my intention to inspire people to understand that and other great and important things about the Furry Community!
He has already booked us for next year, on Saturday the 30th of October, and wants to do a lot of things to improve the party. Such things like running well past midnight and getting a temporary liquor license.
For the Norwegian lodge...well, I know that they didn't mean us any harm and did what they did out of ignorance. They, just a few people that their organization comprises, were honest and straightforward with us in sharing their feelings. All they wanted was a good reputation. I hope they can someday understand that being so unaccepting is a better way to loose a good reputation, esp with so many people using Google nowadays.

Howl'o'Ween Costume contest, map/layout, and volunteer info
Posted 16 years agoCostume Contest
We are planning a costume contest for this year's Howl'o'Ween! Prizes will be gift certificates to RMFC.
We will have two categories-- best creative costume, and best scary costume. Fursuits should not count, unless the fursuit is dressed in a Halloween costume.
Map
Here is a link to the layout of Howl'o'Ween party:
http://www.furrypride.com/images/temple_map.gif
The main entrance is NOT the big-ass doors on the West side, it is the simple glass door on the South. Smoking is allowed outside around the picnic tables near the main entrance.
Food and dancing will happen in the ballroom.
The basement lounge and hallway are good for hanging out in. Avoid bringing food in these areas, though it shouldn't be too big a deal if some people do. If anyone has good Halloween music, bring it and we may try playing it in the basement lounge.
There are two fursuit lounges right outside the bathrooms.. I don't mean to separate genders, just these areas work good for fursuit lounges. in 2006, nobody used the area set-apart in the hallway as a fursuit lounge last time.. so we are just going by what worked last time. Girls may have been hanging out in the mens' rest area last time, I can't remember.
Volunteer meet time
I will try to email all the volunteers soon, but basically volunteers should either meet at my house at 2:30 pm on Saturday, or at the temple after 3:00 pm Saturday. I may not have every volunteer's email too.
No longer mated...
Posted 16 years agoYesterday FreeFox and I decided to go our own ways. I really enjoyed my time being mated to Free, and I will never look back with regret over spending the last 5 wonderful years with him. It has been a lot of fun, very memorable, and I learned a lot from him as a extremely loving fox and friend!
Free confronted me last night at a party about his desire to live on his own and other problems with which I confide in. We spent a lot of time talking about our situation and understanding each other's views earlier today on our trip down to CO Springs when we were sober. On our way, we came to a definite mutual agreement that it was best that we separate. He is going to be living downstairs in my den until he can afford to get his own apartment.
We are on really good terms with each other and still really care about each other!
I love you fox!
I am really positive about my future! I look forward to being the best mate I can be for some fur sometime soon, when I am ready to start dating again :)

New Halloween party location! :)
Posted 16 years agoThe Highlands Masonic Temple is booked for the Halloween party again!
The whole time I kept thinking that The Witches' Ball would be booked on the 31st.. I decided to check it out/make sure, and it happens to be being held the week before on the 24th... I called John, and he was happy to host us again, and even give us a small discount from the time we booked in 2006!
Even though it is still quite a bit more than the Norwegian lodge, I'm still keeping the price pp at $5 and maybe try to do another raffle or something to make up for the cost -- If anyone wants to donate commissions, PLEASE note me on FA! I was really hoping to make money the least of our concerns, but at this point I am happy to help out the Temple as they could really use our business.
The rules will pretty much be exactly the same, although we will probably have use of the oven this time, and avoid hanging out in the kitchen.
I'll update my original Journal to reflect the new information:

We found an alternate location. It will be held at the Masonic Temple at 3550 Federal Blvd 80211. Same day, extended time.
Well.. The venue that we contracted with is refusing to host us. Just got a call from them. They (their board members, esp one guy in particular that raised flags) did a "background check" and decided that we were too much of a risk to their reputation (he talked about their facility being a "family-friendly" institution). The old guy who owns the lodge, who I talked to, was rather timid and didn't want to talk about the details of why they thought we were a risk. But he was very adamant about not having us, refunding our money, and stating that provisions in the contract allowed them to make the decision. Realizing that doing anything to keep us there would further bad feelings between him and us, I refrained from arguing the contract. Instead of trying to badger him, I assured him that what our group was about was really just centered around being fans of anthropomorphic animals and cartoon animal art, and that negative press over rare incidents or negative press that exploited and further perverted the views of select individuals that made up a small percent of the fandom has given us a bad name, and that whatever generalization they came up to did not represent our group as a whole. I gave in to his pleadings to cancel the contract and told him we would not hold our party at his lodge.
Trying to justify himself more, he also proceeded to accuse me of not living at the address I put down on the contract. He said he did web searches to try to tie my name to my address (all I could think was "WTF?"). I calmly let him know that if he really wanted to find out SERIOUS proof, he, or anyone, could just go to the Denver County Commissioner's website, and see that my name is listed as the owner of the house at my address. I told him that going to any county commissioner's website is an easy way to check public records and do some real investigation on an address. (Why he would really care is beyond me... and yes, I did and have always been using my real, full name with him).
Again, I assured him that we had no plans on being hostile, performing any sort of acts that would be considered illegal, or WHATEVER he happened to think we were going to do (said this very questioningly). I also told him that he could contact Jon at the Highlands Masonic Temple, and get a good reference for us, and that we had good references. (I could have also thought of the Downtown Crowne Plaza.) He seemed to open up a bit more and mentioned an incident in Fort Collins and fetishes.. I just said that fluke incidents happen and that mother was paying the price for what she did. I mentioned that some of us have fetishes like a lot of normal people, but the few in our Colorado group don't make it point to publicly display lewd acts or really show disrespect to the public. I said "But really what does it matter, you guys are going to have hard feelings against our group, it would be better for us to find a more hospitable location." He basically agreed and wasn't in the mood for arguing, so we arranged for a refund. He also mentioned something about it being "hard to get the smell out after something like our party." I just said "it isn't like that, but whatever."
When I talked to him before, when I was arranging the contract a couple weeks ago, he seemed really happy to have us. I warned him at the time that we had more "gay" persons than normal as well as a more PDA than normal, and that some of the costumes might be skimpy. He said "So? you guys will mostly be indoors."
So... I don't really want to think about what I am going to do now with the party right now. I'll try to figure something out tomorrow. Any help, of course, will be appreciated, but not necessary.
I'll post this to the yahoo group soon.

Colorado Howl'o'Ween party (to rave or not to rave?)
Posted 16 years agoEDIT
NEW LOCATION! We are now being hosted at the Highlands Masonic temple!
3550 N Federal Blvd
Denver, CO 80211-2802
This is a for sure venue this time-- They know us and have hosted us before. Information below has been updated. Also the time is extended.
So, if you haven't read the Colofurs yahoo group, you might not know that I am having the Colorado Furry Halloween party hosted at an assembly hall near Denver.
Every year everyone seems to have a lot of fun and this event seems to be pretty drama-free (at least during the event... it did really suck when, a few weeks later, Eclipse and Tal got run out of town because our event opened the ever-so-discriminating eyes of the people of Lyon's Colorado).
The one problem I see with it being at a large assembly hall, is that the DJs of the fandom really want this event to be more of a rave with loud dance music, where as not everyone is into that and would maybe like a more relaxed setting or just ambient halloween music that doesn't interfere with conversation. At least, I've notice that most people aren't out on the dance floor and away from loud music when we do have DJs. What are your thoughts?
And for the rest of the journal--
This is the information that I posted to the list in case you are interested in coming and haven't seen it:
The annual Colorado Howl-o-Ween party is back for 2009!
(What)
When: 6pm - 12pm, Saturday October 31st, 2009
Who: Everyfur who wants to have their fur stand on end
How much: $5 per person (if you can't afford it, let me know and I will cover you)
Why: Bob has spoken.
Where: 3550 N Federal Blvd, Denver, CO 80211-2802 (whole East side block of Federal from 3500 - 3600)
Come dressed to scare little kids, or to squick grown ones, and prepared
to have lots of fun at the annual Colorado Furry Community Halloween party!
We have rented an extremely spacious Mason's Temple in the middle of Denver Highlands. THey have hosted us before, and are probably not being fake with us about being accepting of our group.
The event will be a pot luck-- so please bring brains, food, drinks, and
desert (perferrably cut up/set up as hors d'oeuvres) so we may feast! If
you really want to contribute to the cause, please bring a main dish or
be a volunteer to help with setup/breakdown.
Please let your furiends know about the party, especially if they don't

If you would like to volunteer with decorating, setting up a few chairs,
playing music, hosting some sort of table, or other requests, then
please email me with fritz@furrypride.com. If you would like to help
with breakdown and cleanup, please stick around until after we call it a
night.
We will have limited access to amenities in the kitchen. Use of one of the ovens and the ice machine is granted. There is also a dedicated smoking area off to the left of the front door.
There will not be a bar (don't start one) and alcohol will not be
served. Though if you are of age and responsible, it is not a problem
if you drink.
Like a few years ago, there will be a creepy old guy
in the corner playing security guard--he is required to be there. His
name is John--feel free to say hi to him and know that he was very friendly with us last time.
Please respect the property and be responsible.
Save $5 bills now so we don't have to mess with breaking large bills
when you get there. We request $5 to help cover the cost of renting the
hall
Thank you and hope everyone has a good time!

Please let your furiends know about the party, especially if they don't
read the list.

You have 5555 new messages...(!)
Posted 16 years agoWow.. I suck! Sorry everyone for dropping off the face of the interwebs... I really need to catch up. I figure I get so behind on submissions, that I don't have time to catch up, and it escalates to me never logging in. Yea.. I'm also one of those types that never gets big projects done either-- probably related to what makes me behind on FA stuffs.
Holiday happenings...
Posted 16 years agoBeen hanging out with people way too much, which has kinda made me lazy about posting a journal lately, or being bad about staying in contact.. sorry!
Thanksgiving was good-- went and paid homage to the fam by going to Albuquerque for Thanksgiving. I hate having to visit my mom, but I haven't been in a long time, and there is a lot less drama and stress if I go there than if she comes to Denver... and it seems like she uses the "I haven't seen you in a while" excuse to randomly appear in Denver for a week or two. Also, all my brothers and sister were there, so it was sorta like a fam reunion. They all came because they weren't going to come for Christmas, which is the time that our family normally gathers together. My mom goes crazy for Christmas because of the family togetherness, and I know she is going to be really sad and emo being all alone on her favorite day of the year.
Got to visit "Fur Central" in Albuquerque, Carol and Sabot's house, the last couple days. It was nice and refreshing to visit good fur friends! Plus Carol and I went happily gay shopping A LOT (she is so sweet!) and bought several new articles of fetish wear that I may have been too embarrased to buy alone. Only the girl at the register at Victoria's Secret gave me the most cruel stare of death! Almost worse than Pak's stare. It was funny! Also bought a huge Bolt plushie that is so extremely cuddly, cute, and soft!
Been snowboarding as much as I can during the nicer days of the couple weeks past.. Lotsa snowin goin on in the mountains. Crashed really hard once, cuz I saw a burm of man-made snow being made, and figured "oh, nice, powder!" Was going way to fast as usual. When I slid into it it happened to be slushy (not even too warm outside!), and it seemed to immediately grab my board with some kind of suctioning power. I plummeted head-first. My helmet totally saved my melon there and popped my neck a few times and was ok. Stay away from man-made burms!
Like I said, been hanging out a lot too, and would like to thank everyone who has had me over, it has been a lot of fun, even if you were too drunk and can't remember! "Waterfalls" with straight whiskey are bad! Gin and tonics with orange liquor and white cranberry juice while life-drawing good. Getting tipsy at a holiday party around one of your Flander's-like ex-bosses who laid you off, bad!

Got my phone back!
Posted 16 years agoNever realized how much a part of me my phone has become...
FYI to those who txt and call me
Posted 16 years agoVincent accidentally took my phone with him today, and I don't know when he will return it. It could be a few days or so, depending on his ability to get it back to me and my patience.
So.. sorry if I don't txt you back sooner.
It has less than a day's charge, so txting "Get Fritz his phone back goddammit!!" MAY get through for the time being. And my BB messenger doesn't use a loud beep.
In the mean time you might be able to get ahold of me on the the house phone at 720 259-3720.
I'll post something more meaningful later :) and catch up on submissions and such.

Mate's anniversary gift
Posted 17 years agoJust got back from Copper Mountain ski resort.. My mate Freefox and I got season passes this year, and for his gift to me for our anniversary earlier this month, Free rented a really, really nice condo. It was an extremely romantic getaway, and the perfect loving time together!
After having an amazing time snowboarding yesterday, he cooked some aged NY strip steaks and 8-count shrimp from Whole Foods that melted in your mouth (not to mention yummy sides, shitake demi-glace, and Merlot to go with it). Aside from close conversation, a few movies in front of the fire, lots of snuggling was to be had :3 I love you so much foxy!
I think the forecast for Copper said 44 F yesterday and 46 today. We boarded in t-shirts. The snow was surprisingly nice for so early in the season! No ice, no dirt, and kinda fluffy on top - as good as any good day at a big resort like Copper :) Only a few blue/intermediate runs were open, from the top of the mountain, but that was plenty considering no lines.
Sound nice? Anyone want to go snowboarding??
Other than that.. This weekend also met up with my brother's fiance, who was in town to see the Backstreet Boys. She and her friend were SO excited to see them. Anyway, had fun hanging out, went to a couple bars, learned about some insanely crazy family drama that went on my family vacation before I got to Greece (no comment). The second bar had an old bartender that was drunk off her ass. She did shots with us and danced with us. It was cool until she started jiggling her boobs in front of us. Walked back to my brother's fiance's friend's home for more ciders and hanging out with their cool neighbors who perform in a Reggae band. Got a little too tipsy to come back home to Denver Sat night.
Been hanging out with a lot of friends this week. It has been really nice and great to see all of you! The latest WoW update came out last week, so I've had a good excuse to get out of the house and have fun :)

"I thought it was a coyote!"
Posted 17 years agoHad a great weekend celebrating Halloween! The Colofur (Colorado Furry) party was a lot of fun of course..
The next day CharFox and Sphinx (and Jeff) invited me to their house party with tons of non-fur friends and family with craptons of yummy food (samosas!) and lots of cider *slurp*! Was a little shy at first about suiting around non-furs for the first time, but it was an inauthentic fear as everyone seemed to love the suit and went over well! .. The only bad thing was most people there said things like "Aww.. look! Its a coyote!" or "Hey its Wile E.!!".. Just glad noone had a rifle with them! ;) Either way, the party was an absolute blast and I'm looking forward to next year!
The next night I celebrated my 4th Anniversary with Free! Had yummy sushi from Sonodas. Then watched Legend of the Seeker (aka Wizards First Rule from Terry Goodkind). Yea, I loved that book, and they did a surprisingly good job on the mini-series so far!
Last night we went to dinner again-- an amazing 4-course meal at Gelmans with house rum infusions... The Seviche was probably the best-- seabass, prawns, and scallops paired with a mango-passionfruit infused rum. Don't know how I am managing to loose weight! Oh yea.. my wallet is lighter ;)
Hope you all had a fun Halloween!

Watching spree
Posted 17 years agoYou may have noticed I went on a watching spree the other day..
Even if you don't have art to watch, I have added you because I hope to at least lurk in your journalz! *stalks*

OMG I could not be happier!

She more than came through for me! It looks so much better than the concept art--she knew what I wanted, and being the great artist she is, formed it into the toony style I love so much!
I am still pretty speechless, and feelin kinda vulnerable, cuz she could probably ask for anything she wants and get it ;)
Rainfurrest 2008
Posted 17 years agoA few days ago I got back from vacation -- Rainfurrest and visiting my other tail's cousins in Seattle. FreeFox's family is really, really cool and I am so lucky to be adopted by them. I couldn't ask for a better family.
Rainfurrest was a blast and I'm so glad we decided to experiment going! So glad to have met all the good close friends that I did! The rave on Sat night was fantastic and so fun to dance with you all! After that we had a room party and apparently had a Nazi b!tch next door who called security on us. We were a little loud, but nothing like the most amazing dead dog party on Sun night. At our party, two thuggish hotel staff showed up at the door and told everyone who wasn't registered in the room to leave.. and as our patrons were leaving, they mentioned if they found any of us in other room parties, they'd kick us our of the hotel. No warnings. Oh well.. guess there can sometimes be too much of a good thing.
But yea.. managed to drink every night and keep something of a buz going, which is a feat for me. During my trip to England/Greece/Turkey a few months ago, I found that I really like ciders. I am a whore for sweet things.. must have been my upbringing on Kool-aid.
I could go off about all the great things about this con, but I'll keep this a short update for now.
More than ever, even after attending many, many cons and kicking myself to get a suit.. now I have a new found fire for building a suit... I don't trust myself to keep the fire alive... but we shall see!
