Where ya been?
Posted 12 years agoFor those I don't get to communicate with regularly, i'm currently taking roughly 20 credit hours at school, working 30 hours a week at my job, and devoting around 30-40 hours a week to projects for just one of my classes, and still trying to find time between those for my fraternity, extra-curriculars,sleep, food, and maybe a little bit of relaxing time (if possible). My absence on here has simply been because I'm pretty overwhelmed right now.
I've already purchased my plane ticket to FC, so hopefully I'll get to see some of you then! I'll be landing in SFO on that Thursday before the con, Zeno is gonna drive us down to San Jo on Friday at which point i'll probably fill up a flask and head to the reg line :3 January will be my much-needed vacation

Posted 12 years agoSo I haven't been on this site at all in several months. Racked up quite a few missed submissions/journals/comments/favs/notes/etc.
I'll fill you in on what's been hiz-happening since it's been a while. To be brief: I took on a second executive position in my fraternity, I had one of the worst semesters of my life, I lost my car keys in California, I went to the Game Developers Conference, I got my own apartment/am now living independently for the first time in my life, and I've started working on several projects over the summer to polish my animation skills and get a portfolio going. Feel free to ask for my personal blog if you want to follow some indie-game development ramblings :)
As for expected cons:
Trying really hard to make it to AC here in a few weeks. we'll see.
If I can make enough money over the summer and into the fall I will attempt FC, but only if I already have ensured that I can get to the GDC again.
Those are the only two I think I could really have a chance of getting to, and even those aren't guaranteed. Trying to start my professional career so everything else kinda has to be put on the backburner for a while. I hope you're all doing well and I can't wait till the next time we get to hang out :)

Posted 13 years agoWell well, here we are! Home and settled in from AC 2012, and I couldn't miss it more already!
I stayed with
and two others who I have yet to find on FA. Despite my abrupt ventures out of the room and late returns, i had a fantastic time rooming with them. Getting to yell "margaritas" at any and all hours of the day was probably my favorite part.
Little did I know that The Omni was the place to be this year! Also on my floor was
and 
who I got to hang out with for a good amount of the con :) On Saturday they decided to play a game where they couldn't laugh. If they did I was allowed to hit them in the ass with a foam bat! That was fun, until the bat broke x3
Just a few floors down were
and 
Hanging with them I got to see the dance competition prelims, play Cards Against Humanity, and just enjoy drunken ramblings :) I also got to meet a ton of new people that they knew like Scruffy, a badger from Australia, and Espresso, the donkey (still need to locate their FA's).
Thursday evening I decided to be a little social and shoot
a text and he invited me up to his room for a drink :) there were quite a few people there, and that's where I had run into Scruffy, before we went back to The Omni to kick it and drink for the rest of the evening.
Given the opportunity to continue to bug Blue-neko, I got to hang out with him and his mate
After mentioning I was looking into buying a collar, they kindly let me borrow one for the weekend that I enjoyed ^^ With it I got a two-hour (or so) rundown on safety measures that bondage users have to take :o it was very interesting to learn about (never really looked into the topic).
Saturday was probably my favorite day. I got to hangout with all the above0mentioned persons, then found a wild
and apparently managed to convince him to go to the rave :3 I had a blast and my feetpaws are still sore from all the dancing!
Sunday was spent gravitating around between all these people after the dance competition. Then Casey and I chugged some margaritas and went up to the Dead-dog Dance to be belligerent (sorry to those who had to directly encounter us!). At the dance, I ran into
and 
!!! We all danced fora bit, then I found Tom again and we went to hangout with Blue-neko and Kryphos for a little bit.
There are so many people I saw in passing that I wish I had more time to chat with, I can't even list them here. I hope that the next con I go to, I can have just as much fun and meet more people~

Life Update
Posted 13 years agoI'm not dead yet (though I feel like I am; i'll get to that later). It's been a long quarter for me! I'll try to keep things concise/orderly.
Organized my first several recruitment events for my fraternity, which were much more successful than i'd imagined! Tried my hand at the whole not-being-single thing, which worked for a little bit, but ultimately didn't work out. We were looking for different things, and reached an understanding. My classes are kicking my tail! Intro to Digital Media Production is all right, just project oriented which I like. Japanese is a subject I should be spending more time focusing on (or any time for that matter). Philosophy is a lot more difficult than I imagined, but very very interesting! History through Star Trek, unfortunately, is the most disappointing class i've ever experienced. This is beyond "writing class" in second grade where they forced us to write in cursive. This is beyond art class in 4th grade where I wasn't allowed to draw kids with guns riding dinosaurs and killing Adolf Hitler. The professor doesn't show up to class half the time, when he does we never actually follow what the lecture is supposed to be; class turns into a political discussion where everyone is yelling about how they agree with each other. There's no connection between the reading material and the episodes that were watched during the week. It really pisses me off. On top of all that, the reading assignments are circa 200 pages (every week) and the quizzes over said reading assignments are detail oriented. Five questions consisting of things like "What year was this published?" or "what was [character]'s nationality?".... I should also mention he wastes our time during his lecture; he's spent three 2-hour lectures, setting aside a half hour to yell about his tenure. Not that the hour and a half would've been spent productively by any means. In another instance he had a guest speaker come in and discuss something about not buying electronics from companies who are getting their silicon from violent sources? I understand that's a problem, great. I understand that needs to be addressed, fine. I don't understand why the first hour of the class needs to be dedicated to THAT, when we almost ended up having an engaging discussion that week, but had to cut it due to reaching the end of the lecture time.
In more positive news, i've started organizing next quarter's recruitment events, and will be holding some fundraisers :) They're gonna be fun, but i'll keep you guys posted in case anyone wants to visit~
Also, started a regular workout schedule (by regular, I mean i'm going two days strong right now!). Day 1 I just went 18 miles on a bike; Today was crossfit. Fuck crossfit. I finished in 32 minutes, that was an hour ago. I'm still shaking. I feel like i'm gonna die haha. I think i'll just get on the bike again tomorrow, make crossfit a once-a-week thing xD

Posted 13 years agoIt's been a rough start to Winter Quarter. Drama has been seemingly creeping around every corner. Nothing to do with me, just everyone I know seems to be dealing with shit these past few weeks. I hate that i'm at a minimum 200 miles away from anyone that I can truly help, not that I have the time to commit to helping them. I dunno, I'm currently sick (I think it's the flu) and that's making me even more irritable.
You kids need to talk to me more, despite how unresponsive I can be at times. I love all of you and can't wait for the next meet/con/vacation to see you guys.

Posted 13 years agoI know I don't update very frequently, figure i'll toss out a nice little synopses of what's goin' down.
Over the course of the break so far i've managed to get the worst hours for my part-time job, spend a week in Phoenix with wonderful people, meet plenty of new local furs, and plan a couple events for my fraternity when we get back to school.
Winter break is coming to an end, as is the year; truth be told this is probably the best year i've ever had. Made so many new friends and had so many experiences it's a bit mind-blowing. FC2011 started me off on the right foot, and it saddens me that I will not be able to make another FC for quite a while. Spring quarter I joined a fraternity, something I thought i'd never do. Through both events i've made lifelong friendships that I will kill to keep, if I have to. Summer marked my venture to local meets and got myself acquainted with the crazies around my area :P I love you guys. The trip to the Leadership Institute with my fraternity brothers was an inspiring experience and taught me life-lessons that I won't be forgetting anytime soon. Fall quarter rolled in, it was weird to be living in the fraternity house now, but enjoyable. The quarter was stressful, but fun; Now i'm the Vice President in charge of Recruitment for my chapter. Next quarter is gonna be hell, but i'm hoping to make next year better than this (in some regards at least).
Hope you've all been having a wonderful year, and I hope to see all of you as soon as possible <3

Life update and whatnot

Got a lot going on now. Let's see if I can capture it all in a journal :D
So Fall quarter has gone and passed. Haven't gotten my grades back yet but I think i did decently aside from Japanese. I'll have to focus more on that next quarter, but more on that later. Just got back into town 2-3 days ago and had to start cleaning immediately for family that are currently visiting for Thanksgiving. Not a bad thing, just tedious and tiring. I will be heading up to Columbus next friday to see my friend's band open for The Pinstripes (greatest live band i've seen so far). Team Danger should be an exciting band to listen to, but my opinion might be biased because i'm attempting to support my friend. The following evening I will be staying in-town for CaseyCon'11.(part 3?). That should be fun, and hopefully I can find a ride home afterwards because I start working the following week! That means that I got my job back at PF Changs, and will be able to work until I go back to school winter quarter (starts January 3rd). Before that happens though, i'll be flying out to Phoenix with my family to visit my grandparents and hopefully see a bunch of my fuzzy friends that week as well!
Between all of these I have to begin scheduling and organizing events for my fraternity to recruit new members (we only have 15 guys). I was elected for the next year to be the Vice President of Recruitment, so I gotta get shit done! If anyone has any ideas for quirky events to allow people to socialize that aren't the stereotypical "bbq, movie night, etc" then I would be greatly appreciative :)
After the holiday seasons are all over i'll be heading back to Athens and taking some interesting classes. Second quarter of Japanese, a basic Philosophy class, Introduction to Digital Media Production (my major), and History Through Film: Star Trek focus. I'm most excited for the last one because it covers political/social/historical topics through the Star Trek series and how they parallel our own issues. Since there hasn't really been much in regards to Star Trek recently, the more recent topics will be covered via Battlestar Galactica and Firefly.
On this note, because of the amount of time I will be required to focus on school/fraternity stuffs I will not be able to attend FC in January like I had planned. I'm gonna try and see what other cons I can make it to, but the next one I know for sure is gonna be AC'12.

This school year is gonna be rough, I got a lot on my plate already. Running for executive leadership position within my fraternity by the end of this quarter, gotta balance japanese, computer science, media, and film all while practicing with my dance crew and hopefully participating in a World of Darkness campaign (similar-ish to D&D) with some buddies.
Other things I want to do this quarter include a couple road trips, catch up on Dr. Who, practice guitar, play some video games, start some projects that would look good in a portfolio.
Pretty much lots of stuff going on, keep me posted on what you guys are up to :) hopefully i'll be able to touch-base with you all really soon!

Posted 14 years agoFirst I would like to note that this has been the best summer by far. The thing that bugs me is It's not over yet lol. It feels like my trip to Florida for a Leadership Institute was forever ago, and I want to keep the inspired feeling I had to go into this fall quarter.
This year was the first year I started hanging out with the local furs. Previously my assumption was that they were all batshit crazy. My assumption was fairly accurate, but they are still an enjoyable group to be around for the most part :p
This year was also the first time I've had a job I want to keep during breaks. Communication is one of my biggest values (though I know I'm terrible at it, I'm trying to work on it) so it's comforting to know that there are people out there that can act professionally. Despite my lower number of hours and a larger amount of physical labor my job requires of me, I'm very happy for the change in pace.
This quarter is going to be really exciting for me. I'm taking a film studies course, my last basic media class, an intro to C programming class, and elementary Japanese. These classes will be a change of pace from past quarter where every assignment was a lab or essay. On top of classes I plan on running for an executive position in my fraternity, maintaining a healthy work-out schedule (including regular sessions with my dance crew) and practice guitar a bit. I'm sure video games and chatting with all you crazies will manage to fill in my schedule somewhere :p
I'm going to be visiting the Phoenix area a week before Christmas :) so if you're in that area then we should probably hang out. Also I'm currently saving up monies for FC. Luckily I've thought of an excuse to tell my folks if they inquire about the plane ticket purchase :3

I met so many new people I can't even start to list them all. Hopefully they find me/vice-versa through friends/fa/etc. I wish I would've gone to see the art auction. I like looking at stuff i can't afford lol.
For the record: Cats are really fun to make fun of, and even more fun to tease when they're plastered <3
EDIT: also be sure to still be nice to them because some can be considerably larger than you and like to bite xD

I was convinced to go by my roomy. I went to a panel and had some fun, but most of the con was me dealing with trying to comfort other people who were getting worked up over drama. Now I am sick and I have mid-terms this week.
In other news i've joined a fraternity. Delta Upsilon. The guys that are a part of it here on OU campus are pretty awesome guys. They're all CS/EE/Digital Media majors so they're not really the typical frat. Living in the house costs less than the shitty dorms here as well so that's a plus. It's cool to have upper upperclassmen to talk to.

Posted 14 years agoWell, I know i've been quiet for a pretty long time. I guess college has me busy as a beaver.
Not much has been happening, just getting through classes. Received a C, two Bs, and an A in my classes last quarter. Not too bad, but I feel like I can do so much better :( Going to therapy so I can get help making sure I prioritize correctly.
Next quarter should be interesting, if not WARM. <3 Been practicing the guitar, probably gonna start doing duets with my buddy. If audio/video footage of such acoustic things gets uploaded would you guys want to see it? just curious.
kinda swinging back into ska, after my dubstep/electronic phase xD before that was metal and whatnot. Anybody listen to anything rad lately? I'm always open to new music to listen to :)
Also, goin up to columbus this weekend for the Magic: The Gathering PTQ's. hoping to get some decent theoretical money out of it. Wish me luck!

FC 2011 pt 1

So my FC festivities started when I left my school in Athens, Ohio on a Tuesday morning, walking an hour through the snow to get to the Greyhound station. The Bus took me to the Columbus airport where I almost didn't get to my layover in time because my initial flight was canceled. Luckily I made it to Sacramento that night and had a ton of fun hanging out with astraycat

Wolf8891 and RaikenZero :D then Thursday we drove up to San Jose~
First night there I stayed in
ashton 's room :3 because only one of his other roomies could actually make it. We watched the Drawn Together movie with 
Smilerfrog and it was pretty funny :P before all this though I believe stray and I went to dinner with raz_Raccoon and wanderkojak and one of his buddies :) Even though I didn't have anything to eat it seemed like everyone enjoyed it.
Night two I can't say I recall all the details. Not because I was intoxicated or anything of the sort, but so many awesome things started happening that I can't remember them in any order of importance! So now i'm just gonna try listing things off xD

Tsukaza after wrecking his shit in a great yu-gi-mons battle! We were rollin' around with one of his roomies
