Hey
General | Posted 6 years agoIt's been a while since I wrote one of these. Figured I might as well do so while I sip some wine and eat some cheese.
So as some of you may have noticed, I don't upload much online lately. Let me rewind my life a little bit so that you guys can understand what's happening on my end.
So back in January, I decided to start working as a traveling health professional. I am what you would call a "histotechnician," otherwise known as the guy who puts chunks of tissue on microscope slides so that pathologists can diagnose cancer and other gross stuff. My job is incredibly technical and precise and I have to grip tweezers for 8 hours a day moving very delicate pieces of tissue extremely carefully so that I don't ruin people's lives. As such, my hands get a little cramped and I've been very self conscious about not overexerting my hands during the day, so I stopped drawing as much to prevent getting carpal tunnel or tendinitis, which is a pretty common affliction for both histotechs and artists. So double whammy.
On top of that, I'm traveling. Every three months I have to find a new place to live because that's how long my contracts last. It pays very well, mind you. I get paid $1.6K a week for those of you who are curious and interested in becoming traveling health professionals. Currently I am in Boston until about mid September before I have to move to another part of the US. I spend a lot of time taking care of myself with chores and errands, so that eats up some of my free time.
Also, another big part of why I am producing less content is because I started a podcast named TIPSY TAILS! tennisballlover and myself read erotic furry fiction while getting tipsy, and it's been a thing I've been doing for almost a whole year, so if you guys wanna check it out, we're on spotify, itunes, and google play. But what I'm getting at is that I have to spend part of my week browsing content, reading, reaching out to authors, and recording.
As if that weren't enough, I started taking an online anatomy course so that I can get required credits to go back to school and get my master's as a Pathologists' Assistant. I do have career goals, and while I do love to draw, I don't love it enough to try my hand at becoming a freelance artist, taking commissions and scraping by.
Not to mention, I also spend some of my free time socializing because this is a pretty lonely life, haha!
The busy life I lead is the best way for me to get money, experience, and credits so that I can get a job later on in life that will support me. I plan on getting an MD as a pathologist eventually so that I am able to help people not just in a medical setting, but also financially. I have met so many people who struggle financially, and I just feel the urge to at least ease some of that burden for the people who have been a strong influence in my life.
I am a very grateful person. I have people who have influenced me positively throughout my life and I don't think I'd be where I am today without them. My motivation stems from the strong urge to give back to those of you who support me along the way. I am revenge-driven, haha!
But yes, I've had to sacrifice some close friendships and potential relationships for this life of mine. I might have the whole adult thing figured out, but I am just as emotionally vulnerable as anyone else. Sometimes I wished I had a travel buddy, but it's nigh impossible to find someone who has the flexibility to travel as much as I do. So if you're in the area of Boston, please reach out to me. I'd love to spend a lazy evening meeting new friends. <3
Anyways, that's my life in a nutshell. Keep pursuing your dreams, people. You are your own limiting factor. Lock onto a goal, plan a course of action, and pursue it with everything you've got. It might take a few years, but you're only moving closer towards your goal.
Take it easy,

Uploading personal art
General | Posted 7 years agoWell, there you go, guys. I finally uploaded a bunch of my personal art.
antiroo told me to upload my vent art because it shows strong emotions that make my art look amazing. I think enough time has passed to the point where I feel comfortable posting it.
My only fear now is hurting the people around me once they see the art.

I made a podcast!
General | Posted 7 years agoHey guys,
I wanted to let you all know that me and my friend tennisballlover started a podcast called Tipsy Tails!
We read various kinky furry fictional stories while getting mildly intoxicated, and it's really fun and you guys should give us a listen! Our audio quality isn't the best, but then again, I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a podcast in case I didn't like it, but there is the possibility of getting better mics and some sound treatment in the future.
Here's the link:
https://tipsytails.podbean.com/

Also, if you want to suggest authors or if you want to be featured on the podcast, don't hesitate in sending me a message on my notes comments, e-mail, or twitter!
E-mail: tipsytailscast[at]gmail.com
Twitter: @ tipsytailscast
I hope you guys enjoy it as much as we enjoy making these episodes. <3

[CLOSED] Collaboration Commissions!
General | Posted 8 years agoHey everyone, good news!
lumpsofcole and I will be working together to release sketch commissions! The idea of this is to produce a series of images ( example 1, example 2, example 3 ) in less time and with less stress on a single artist (and also we like drawing together!) as well as providing what we think is a great platform for people to get pictures with friends!
===========================Pricing and Rules!===========================
> For now, we'd like to start with 3 slots per month! This may be reduced to 2 slots for a month if a particularly large series is purchased.
> Sketches will be $16 each for two characters
* +$6 for flat colors, per character per sketch
* +$10 per extra character, per sketch
Maximum of four characters in each sketch
> Minimum charge of $30, eg:
* Two two-character sketches, totalling $32
* One four-character sketch, totalling $36
> All payments are to be made in USD via PayPal
> Cole and I will discuss and decide which character(s) we'd like to draw- the commissioner may not elect their preference
> Cole and I work through the week and will do our best to work on these in the evenings and days off- please be patient. If it looks like we'll be particularly late, we will contact you to discuss.
Don't worry about splitting payments- our goal is to make this as simple as possible, so, from your end, it will be much like commissioning a picture from just one artist.
You may contact either Cole or myself via notes- either one of us will be happy to help and to answer any questions! We'll get back to you tomorrow if we picked your commission request.
And, as always, feel free to ask any questions or get a price before committing.
Thanks!

Where's I've been
General | Posted 9 years agoSo in case you guys were wondering why I haven't been uploading anything to my account lately, it's because I've been busy.
To sum it all since the middle of April:
-Last assignment rush on my last semester of college.
-Study for finals.
-Took finals.
-Went to BLFC (and met
Dessy <3).
-Came back to hang out with my parents for a week before graduation.
-Graduated college in Zoology.
-Started the process of moving to Texas.
-Flew to south Texas because my dad dragged me to the ranch he works in for a week.
-Finally drove up to Dallas to permanently live there.
-Started visiting friends in the area to have a social life now that I am living somewhere new.
-Got a car.
-Been doing job apps and interviews.
-Been getting dragged around by my parents now that I live with them again.
You might ask, "okay, Alma, but what about your free time such as late at night or whenever you aren't doing job apps and stuff?" Well, young grasshoppers, I've been loafing about and playing video games and watching anime with Dessy because I also need some time to cool off after all that has happened while spending time with my mate.
Outside of that, a small update on my life here in Dallas, Texas now:
-It's really hard to find jobs related to the field I graduated in. My best bet is in a lab literally across the street where I would be working with tissue samples.
-I have found that despite having a good amount of friends in the area, they are almost always busy.
-My dog keeps waking me up between 5:30 am and 6:00 am.
-I don't know what to do outside of my apartment while I'm unemployed. I get bored a lot.
-My car got towed because I forgot to put my parking permit on the rear view mirror.
-Probably gonna go to texas furry siesta, so hit me up if you're going.
I'll soon be getting back to drawing since I'm getting tired of wasting time and I have a few drawings I need to get done.

OPENING 3 MORE COMMISSION SLOTS. DON'T BLINK! (YOU BLINKED)
General | Posted 9 years agoIMPORTANT: Because of the urgency of the situation, commissions will most likely be drawn within a day or two, so do expect it to be done VERY FAST or the commission will be HALF THE PRICE!
If I finish the commissions quickly, I'll open more slots. Please refer to my COMMISSIONS PAGE for prices.
I do draw icons, busts, full characters, anthros, ferals, and extreme fetishes.
I don't draw toilet play, or babyfurs.
Ref-sheets won't be available either for the sake of expediency.
You can reserve multiple slots.

Should I charge more?
If I charged an extra $5-$10, would you still commission me?
Is $5-$10 of a price raise too much?
I always charged what I thought my art was worth through my biased eyes, but considering I'll be taking a lot of commissions throughout the next week or so, I just wanna know if people would still think I'm affordable.

OPENING 3 COMMISSION SLOTS. (ALL SLOTS TAKEN)
General | Posted 9 years agoSO, I JUST FOUND OUT I CAN GO TO BLFC NEXT MONTH BECAUSE IT WON'T INTERFERE WITH MY FINALS.
However, I only have one week or so before I have to ship a lot of boxes to Texas because I'm moving to Dallas after graduating from college. That includes my desktop, where I draw my digital artwork.
I had been neglecting opening commissions because I didn't have time during the beginning of the semester to draw, but now I HAVE to make time because I HAVE to.
I'm opening commissions to be able to gather enough money to hopefully be able to attend.
This is IMPORTANT: Because of the urgency of the situation, commissions will most likely be drawn within a day or two, so do expect it to be done VERY FAST or the commission will be HALF THE PRICE!

Digital art problems
General | Posted 10 years agoSo breakdown of what's been going on over winter break and holidays and why I still haven't been drawing:
I went on winter break, I only have a macbook air to be able to draw. The only "good" program that I have is Artrage 3, and the reason I don't use it is because the program lags and every time I try to make a circle, the lines come out choppy and the circle comes out like a polygon more so than the smooth circle that I expect. I know what you're thinking "oh, you can just turn up the stabilizer" but Artrage 3 has such bad stabilizer that it doesn't correct your line as you're drawing it. It waits until you finish the stroke to correct the jagged line into a smooth line that hardly looks like your original stroke at all, so in that sense you can't really do lineart of anything.
I know I can use Gimp, but gosh, I just don't wanna learn a new program.
So after the holidays with my family in Dallas, TX, I decided to take a trip to Lawton, OK to spend the rest of my break with my mate. Yesterday I decided to try to draw on my mate's computer, but for some reason it keeps popping up a message that says "TABLET DRIVER WAS NOT FOUND" even after I had restarted the computer after installation. Here's a list of things I have done:
-I have installed the driver directly from the website.
-I have checked for a solution online, none of them work.
-I have checked to see that there are no other tablet drivers installed on the computer.
-I have tried turning it on and off again.
After a little while of keeping the tablet plugged in, it finally decided to randomly start working... except that I can't change the settings on the tablet. I mean, I guess it's something, but I've just grown so used to using the buttons on my tablet to choose tools and change brush size and undo and redo, that having one hand on the tablet and the other over CTRL+Z has just become uncomfortable. (Not to mention there isn't space to put my tablet anywhere but my lap, and like all awesome wacom tablets, mine has a loose usb plug that if I move it the wrong way will turn off the tablet completely.
I guess I can draw traditional art and color with pencils, but lets face it, no one cares about amateur traditional art. I guess I'll try reinstalling the tablet driver for the fourth time once my mate wakes up in the afternoon. Otherwise I'll have to wait until I am back at college from Anthro New England to draw.

General | Posted 10 years agoUPDATE ABOUT MY LACK OF ACTIVITY
General | Posted 10 years agoI've been meaning to write this journal for a while. I've had a lot of things that have happened since the beginning of June that have prevented me from being able to draw both personal and commissioned art. i do feel extremely guilty about the fact that I haven't been able to finish commissions I've gotten as far back as June. It's extremely rare of me to take so long for me to finish commissions, I worry about my image as an artist and my reliability when it comes to commissioned art, and as much as I hate giving excuses to my absence, I feel like it's worth for people to know why I have been gone for so long, so here's my story:
Starting June, I went to Panama to do research with dolphins for my class, that lasted for about 2 weeks. Once I was back, that's when I first started hanging out with
Milo_Macrotis, so he also commissioned me for some things and like a normal human being, I drew him his commissions while he was hanging out in my room with me. Because of that, I do assume a bit of responsibility for not being more productive, but I also had my mom around. I only get to see her and hang out with her for two months out of the year and because of that, I spent a lot of time with her.
Towards the end of June and start of July, I had to go to Anthrocon and thus I wasn't able to draw for about a week. Unfortunately, right after I came back, it was my mom's last few days with me before she had to leave, so I felt a bit obligated to spend time with her. Then after she left I went through a bit of an art block that lasted for about 2-3 weeks. Once i got out of it, my dad dragged me to a road trip to Texas. Again, remember I was hanging out with Milo before and after going on the road trip, so there wasn't much I could do about commissioned art. About a week right after I came back, I went on a road trip by myself to California to spend 10 days with a friend. I only had a few days to draw, before I had to ship my computer to college since only half a week later once I came back from my road trip, I had to go to college in Vermont.
Once i arrived in Vermont, i was unable to draw while I waited for my computer to arrive in the mail. I waited about two weeks before I realized that I was getting notices to go pick it up at the mailbox because my roommates took the envelopes from the communal mailbox for the apartment and forgot to tell me about it. Once I had my computer back, I was still unable to draw because the heat sink was detached from the processor due to the rough handling from the mail (even though the box had stickers of fragile all over it) and my computer wouldn't stay on because of overheating problems, so I had to get thermal paste to fix that.
Once I fixed my computer, I only had a couple of days before my boyfriend came to visit me for 10 days. Due to that, again, I wasn't really able to draw since i didn't want to spend several hours glued to my computer ignoring my mate while i drew porn for others. And once he left, I was swarmed with midterm exams at college, so I had issues trying to balance out socializing, studying, living in an apartment taking care of myself, and having time to draw digitally.
NOW, I'm finally getting out of that rough phase where it was difficult for me to draw digitally, but I still do traditional art every once in a while. Most of it is uploaded on twitter, but as far as commissions go, I still need to catch up with them, hence why I have closed commissions at the moment. Again, I am so sorry I've been so absent, but there really hasn't been much I could do about it.
An extra little thing, I probably won't open commissions back up once I am finished, since I want a little time to be able to do some anatomy studies as well as gift art for friends and fanart for Café Plasir (look it up, it's fanfiction about a pokemon brothel by several different authors). I also have plans to do some illustrated fanfiction with my mate. I need to go through a process of improvement, so you'll see a lot of experimental art within a month or so (hopefully).

Update on my life.
General | Posted 11 years agoSo, a lot has happened in the past couple of months.
To start off, well, I had a mate. You might remember him by
shadevasmir . He's a sweet guy, but unfortunately, we were not meant to really be together because weren't exactly what we were looking for. Long story short, I'm single. Thinking about taking a break from guys for a while and just focus on girls.
Anyways, finals week is long gone, and the nightmare that came with it is also gone. That's why you've probably noticed that I am not exactly very active lately. I've been focusing on schoolwork as well as making plans. Had a ton of homework the week after thanksgiving break, relaxed for the last week of the semester, and now I am over at
projectx 's apartment hanging out and chilling with him for three weeks instead of going back to my house in the middle of nowhere! c:
So right now I am in Indianapolis hanging out with my floatzel friend and maybe I'll get to meet
mattywheaty while I am up here. If he decides to back out on meeting me, go yell at him until he does. I'll try to take commissions while I am up here, but I hope you understand that I also don't want to ignore Rikyuu in the process as drawing takes quite a lot of time. So I guess commissions are officially open again.
