FA+ is loaded / unsubbing
Posted 2 years agoI'm honestly pissed with how they've handled this.
When I first subscribed the only thing I really really wanted (avatar upload size limit came later!) was to have more thumbnails/submissions per page when browsing them and I thought FA+ would only be small things as such.
This far in (a year? two at this point?) and they decided to not only now LIMIT the FREE previous feature of being able to upload whatever resolution you wanted but now you need to PAY for the "privilege" of being able to upload UP TO 4K ?
What the fuck was the thought here besides the obvious easy cash grab? Why is it that if an artist chooses to upload a HD submission for people to enjoy in all its glory that is now not only NOT possible, but it's now limited to people that are only willing to give a portion of their hard earned money to "thou that shall not be named" ?
Imagine the audacity to remove a fucking feature so incredibly important to some for the sole reason of squeezing even MORE money out of people?
You can argue that it's "not needed to enjoy artists work" but the previous example shows that BOTH parties get shafted no matter which way you look at this.
How the fuck is this okay?
There is no way I am ever giving them another dime unless they remove this fucking idiotic file size/dimension restriction.
Devs/Web designers updating the website require money, I get it, but its been THIS LONG and you've yet to give us something truly significant or at the top of the list of requests.
This website is legitimately a joke and I'm wishing more and more there was a replacement that wasn't so god damn money hungry.
e6 I bet makes half the money these ass holes do and yet they have no file size limit. Go figure

Oh hey blocked again
Posted 3 years agoI know I somewhat recently said something related to the topic of blocking but I feel it's now even worse.
(I swear this journal did not spark because I wanted to ask a random user a question in the comments)
I don't think this issue concerns myself either as I've read many people claim the same has happened to them as well, especially as of the last year or so.
I understand that there is one particular line on my profile that probably rustles peoples jimmies, but I'm almost certain people don't even get that far before they put in MORE of the effort to go to their blocklist and start writing down names.
It legitimately blows my mind that people who you've never spoken to, not even for a single second, have the thought of blocking someone for almost no real significant reason.
I mean you could argue that blocking someone GUARANTEES the fact they'll never be able to talk to you but there are SO MANY things you can still see.
Here are some great examples of what you can still do when you block someone:
-You can still see their profile, every comment they post, their journals, etc
-The blocked person can still see your profile, comments, posts, etc
-You can literally remove their name, post a comment and then block them immediately after anyway
Since there has been an influx of people blocking others for seemingly little to no reason it actually makes me believe there are people that are just running around other platforms (for example discord servers?) and then just telling people to block users.
I just recently spoke to an artist whom I shall not name (that has REALLY good art I'd love to share but uhhh) -- because I just suddenly turned up blocked by them and after asking them what the reason was they simply replied with "Oh because someone said you were mean".
Even after stating I loved their work and them claiming "there was nothing personal" and that I "seemed rather cool" I still to this day am blocked by them.
I wish people would just talk to each other again or at the very least simply discuss things that irk them.
Maybe we got off on the wrong foot
Maybe we just had a misunderstanding
Maybe the comment the person made was justified and you don't know the whole story
Hell maybe the person insulting the other is their friend and that is how they interact
For people claiming that we're pointing guns they sure seem to be the ones loading them too.

Ignorance and Hypocrisy
Posted 5 years agoSo I (somewhat) recently made the mistake of critiquing someone's work, specifically a popular artists work, only to get immediately slammed by someone in the comment section with insults and assumptions beyond what I would consider normal...
Given, this isn't the first time someone has blown up at me nor is it the last. We all know that every group has it's ... let's say "special" section of individuals that fall into a category we all wish they didn't ... but I digress.
I obviously will refrain from calling this individual out that decided to lose their shit (and continue to, from what I can tell) for even the slightest notion of my presence or questioning their superior knowledge of everything.
Apparently, I was wrong to make my statement because I was wrong and because I was wrong my comment was immediately considered toxic or I guess an attack on the artist itself?
I wanted to leave this individual a reply stating this wasn't the case with a lengthy amount of reasons why I thought the artist messed up the anatomy but before I could even do this they decided to add "Oh I went to block you but I already had you blocked!"
...What's hilarious to me is that people genuinely think blocking someone and thereby preventing them from replying will somehow fix the issue.
The entire reason this person left me this comment was to insult me and claim everything I was saying was wrong. (As far as I'm concerned, insulting someone should be against CoC but according to staff, nah. Lmao)
Speaking of which! I did read the CoC a time or two over and it clearly states that blocking someone and then continuing to contact them is against the rules but apparently after reporting them it was dismissed and nothing changed. No surprise there, fair enough.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't insulting someone, blocking them and then continuing to berate them time and time again a little hypocritical to the persons initial comment?
For the record, I've never even interacted with this person. I have no idea who they are or why they have issues with me.
As I've stated time and time again, people in this fandom really think that blocking someone immediately rather than having a discussion is somehow the better course of action.
I was browsing this site yesterday and came across a lovely piece of work someone left a rather nice comment on. I went to reply and agree, maybe even praise this person only to be told I was blocked by them.
This website and it's userbase never cease to amaze me.
Too often I get asked why I dislike furries or think they deserve the hate they get ... well this is one of the most classic examples.
I love this fandom and everything it has ever brought to the world but I'll never tell you it doesn't deserve what little shit it gets from time to time.
(If the mentioned user reads this, please refrain from attacking me. I genuinely wish to speak to you and maybe come to an understanding. Hell, we might even become friends. All I need is the chance you never gave me.)

Gating a species / Closed species
Posted 5 years agoI find closed species to be one of the dumbest things this fandom has ever introduced anyone to.
How is that you add x to animal, slap a name onto it and you're suddenly the only person that can ever make something similar from that day forth?
What exactly or better yet WHO exactly made that decision? Why do people think this is okay?
That's the equivalent of nintendo taking every pokemon 'sona, barring everyone from creating any similar character and then bitching and whining at you forever for even thinking about it.
So why is this allowed in the fandom?
If I slap a fucking pair of legs onto a snake and add speakers to it (or some other shit, you get the point) why am I and only I suddenly entitled to that as a species?
Anyone anywhere that argues it's anything but a pathetic cash grab or sense of entitlement is unquestionably an imbecile.
You can sit there and tell me it's because they have to preserve the species, make sure they are "accurate" otherwise it's no longer a unique species but the same could be said for the aforementioned pokemon creatures example.

Thoughts on YCH's (Auctions) from a random unknown ass hat!
Posted 8 years agoThis is going to be a long rant.
Let me also state this journal is NOT aimed at anyone or the fact I recently lost an auction. Lmao
Am I the only one who is slowly hating YCH auctions more and more and more ?
Isn't it bad enough that more than HALF of my submissions box on a daily basis is nothing but YCH announcements and reminders ?
It becomes rather repetitive and annoying having to clean something I could classify as spam on a daily basis because it's become the thing of the now.
Now let me say a few things before I follow up on this so you don't get the wrong idea (or some shit head (:D) decides to state the obvious in the comment section)
I understand that art is a luxury.
I understand that artists need money.
I understand that in most cases the art is worth a good amount of money.
It's been a few years now and the YCH auctions get more and more ridiculous as time goes by.
Unless you're willing to break the bank you are NEVER and I mean NEVER going to get a commission from certain artists.
No, I shall not name those artists but you damn well know who they are.
You end up paying about double if not triple if not QUADRUPLE what the usual commissioning price is and it usually doesn't even go past a fucking simple BG 1 character slot piece.
If you're a random person that runs a decent job, its quite a high chance that you do not have 400/800/1000 dollars to throw at an artist for a piece that is worth a FOURTH that price when it isn't an auction.
Usually when you have that kind of money sitting in the bank you end up using it for BETTER alternatives. (Such as dentist, car, insurance, whatever)
I mentioned earlier that I UNDERSTAND that art is a luxury. I DO.
But you must also understand the frustration from a persons perspective when they would cut off a limb to get art from a talented artist (especially one they really like) but simply do not have that kind of money to throw at it. Especially not all at once!
What I HATE even more is that artists that discover how much money they can weasel out of stupid people with high paying jobs (or probably basement dwellers that have nothing better to throw their money at since mommy still pays the bills) with continuous auctions and then convert to a gallery full of NOTHING but YCH auctions from that point on.
What ever happened to the standard way of getting a good piece of art from someone ?
Commissioning seems to be a dying fucking breed of trade because everyone is too busy farming those numbers in the comment section.
There are artists I wish I could commission. Artists that draw absolutely stunning things I WISH I had the mental capacity or skills to create in pixel form
... and yet I dread their existence sometimes because of the prior mentioned bull shit they bank on.
I'll most likely never get art from them because I REFUSE to pay a price that someone other than the artist chose.
Throwing a bidding war out there is the easiest thing to do and it makes you look like nothing but a money hungry douche.
I suppose I can't blame them though, money is what makes the world go round and pleasing someone that loves your work doesn't pay the bills.
If this entire journal makes me look like an idiot that would be because I am.
I don't know, whatever. I just wish shit went back to the way it used to be.
(Looking at the tick box below here "disable journal comments" seems like a good idea but it's not like me. I like to have interesting conversations rather than lock a journal so people can't tell me I'm wrong. IM A MAN DAMN IT)
