Exciting new announcement! CHANGES
Posted 8 years ago2018 brings new exciting changes for The Furst State! We’ve decided to begin the process of incorporating into a 501c3 nonprofit! With this in mind, we have voted upon and instated a 9 member board of directors consisting of the following officers:

Secretary: Railrunner
Marketing & Social Media: Kenner
Board members at large: Yolkling, Reaux, Landis_f, and Haru. In coming weeks expect to see us post updates to assist other furry groups in incorporating as well! 2018 is bound to be an exciting new era for The Furst State!

We have a few changes starting this year!
First and foremost is we are going to offer badges for sale unique to each event! These badges will be for sale for $5 on site, and everyone who signs up to bowl will get one for free, however they are optional for Furbowl attendees.
Secondly, due to the bowling alley raising their rates we will be forced to raise the price for bowling to $20 per person. This price will still include shoes, and unlimited bowling for the duration of Furbowl as well as a one of the previously mentioned Furbowl badges.
Finally, there is a slight change that will be coming to all officially run Furst State events this year. In an effort to be as transparent as possible with the Delaware furry community, The Furst State will be publishing our full budgets for every event we run following each event. Going forward we would like as much of the operations of The Furst State to be available for the community to see.
So, with that out of the way, on to the regular stuff!
The theme for Furbowl 63 is Red Carpet Class. Come out and enjoy the 2018 Season Premier of Delaware Furbowl in style! Wear your best suit (furry or non) and dress to impress!

Posted 8 years agoThe Furst State is dedicated to providing a safe, fun, and welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of age, race, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, ability, physical appearance, furry identity (or lack thereof), or religious/spiritual beliefs.
The recent rise of "Altfurry" and the group known as the Furry Raiders have caused concern among our event attendees as well as staff. The recent events in Charllotesville, Virginia have further compelled us to speak out about these issues. The people running The Furst State are a diverse group including men, women, transgender individuals, and people of color. It is vitally important to us that we are able to maintain the vibrant, expressive community The Furst State is home to.
Displaying hateful media of any kind, including clothing, flyers, drawings, etc. is prohibited at Furst State events and on our forum, website, and other web presences. This includes displaying imagery that invokes Nazi or supremacism beliefs. Yes, this includes the Furry Raiders armband. No, we don't care if you come in a tie-dye or blue armband instead of a red one. They are still not allowed.

Folks will begin gathering at the bowling alley at about 8:00PM. There is a Dunkin Donuts (open til 8pm) and a restaurant (open til 11pm) attached to the bowling alley; you are welcome to come earlier for a bite to eat or some snacks! However, the meet won't actually start until later. We will begin accepting payment for bowlers at 8:15. We can only accept cash payments - there is an ATM in the bowling alley. Please have cash ready!
Bowling is $15 for shoes and unlimited games for three hours! Note: everyone MUST wear bowling shoes in order to bowl, including fursuiters.
We will turn on the lanes around 8:30. Groups will be limited to 4 or 5 bowlers per lane. The group picture will take place in the party room at 10:00!
At 11:30 we shut the DE Furbowl down. Go home, go somewhere! You just can't stay here!

Furbowl 60 - how it went, how we can improve!

Hey everyone! First, we'd like to thank the 145 totally awesome furries who came out to support the return on the Delaware Furbowl! We really hope you enjoyed yourselves!
During the event, staff asked attendees for their honest feedback. Here is what we heard from you:
Pros:
- The new location is easy to get to and really big
- The bartenders are much faster than at our old location
- People liked having our own spot just for our event
Cons:
- We still need more space!
- Headless was way too small
- It got pretty warm in our area
- Some confusion about the way things were set up/last minute changes (such as the group photo)
- Traffic bottlenecked at the entrance to the event space due to the proximity of the headless lounge
Overall, I think this was a good first time back with our new leadership! There are definitely some kinks that need to be worked out, and we'll be working hard on fixing them for our next event. We'll be announcing the date soon, so stay tuned!
One more note about Furbowl: in order to reserve our event space, we need to pay the bowling alley up front and hope we make up the cost when folks pay for bowling. If you don't want to bowl for whatever reason (which is totally ok!), but you would still like to help us out by pitching in towards paying for the event, we'd really appreciate it! You'll be able to donate in person at the next Furbowl, and we'll also have a Paypal link set up.

YES, we are still working on figuring out a Furbowl replacement! A lot has been going on in the lives of the people who run Furbowl, so it's been tough. Here is the rundown: AMF Price Lanes was bought out by another company. While the buyout brought some improvements to the bowling alley, it also eventually caused us a major problem: they filled the game room with arcade games, which basically crowds us out of the space we used for headless lounge, registration, artist alley, and just general hangout space. We could run the event without these amenities, but even that presents a problem - let's face it, most people who come to Furbowl don't bowl. There is nowhere to fit 100+ attendees who are not bowling!

Rest assured, we do still have other events going on, including dinner meets, movie meets, trampoline park meets and more! Don't see the kind of event you'd like to attend planned? Set something up and post about it on our forum or furvsp.com! Stuff doesn't happen without folks to plan it!

DE Furbowl 60 POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Posted 10 years agoDue to circumstances outside of our control our party room space at the bowling alley has been altered and our current plans won't work with the new architechture.
It pains us but at the moment we have to postpone the DE Furbowl until further notice. We are meeting with the alley to see what plan we can come up with but at the moment we can't give a definite date on it's return.
We ask for your patience and understanding though! The bowling alley still wants our business and we are going to try to make it work!

PSA regarding scented sprays at Furbowl
Posted 10 years agoIf you are going to spray your fursuit with something scented, please go easy on it at home, and don't bring the spray to Furbowl if at all possible! A good number of the Furbowl staff have issues with allergies, and we're sure attendees do as well. The mixture of different air freshener type sprays concentrated in a relatively small space is the perfect recipe for an asthma attack (which one staff member suffered from at Furbowl this past weekend).
Please, keep the scented sprays to a minimum! It's a health hazard! Wash your suit before and after Furbowl and you won't even need to spray it down, we promise.
If you're not a fursuiter, just don't spray yourself with any perfume or body spray before Furbowl. Take a shower or a bath! If you're clean, you'll smell just fine!
