Posted 5 years agoJust wanted to update a few things, not very important but some may want to know!
I haven't been super active on FA. I tend to post the most on Twitter now and do have a back log of suits to post here as well. I have no intention of abandoning FA but have been behind and it has put more focus on suit work to catch up and social media has taken some neglect.
I am currently putting together completed suit pictures as well as updating a new price sheet just for a fresh look. Bracelet and i are also looking to get help with a huge website update and just a fresh look and feel for Fursuit Parade!

How Commissions Work: From Payment to Product

How Commissions Work
❤Commissions are currently set up with 'completion months'. This is a general time frame for your suit to be started and completed within. If your completion month gets moved forward you will be notified, if it would need to be moved back you will be notified as soon as i'm aware of this needed change. If your completion month needs to be changed reasons will be discussed with the customer and handled based on the situation.
❤30% Non-refundable deposit is needed to secure your slot. This covers your slot, supplies, and pre-work that goes into setting up and organizing a commission.
❤I understand waiting on your suit to be worked on can be anxious so i offer sending WIP of other suits i'm working on to ease the wait.(If anyone requests there suit to be secret no updates will ever be sent to anyone but them via email)
❤Currently commissions are set up in both order down payment is received and expected payment completion.Meaning the standard set time from down payment to finished product is 4 months(at average payment plan) If you pay in full in some cases i can bump you up in the queue but you will most likely still have 2-4 month wait time.
❤You must be payed off before your completion month before dedicated work can start. Failure to complete payment can result in you commission being cancelled or moved. Cancellation or movement will be discussed based on reason for failure of payment and queue.
❤If you finish payments before your completion month you will be eligible to be moved ahead in the event someone fails to complete payment by there completion month.
❤Once down payment is received your fur and supplies will be ordered within the following 1-3 weeks.
❤When it is your completion month you will be sent updates and pictures until it is completed.
❤Once your product has been completed i will notify you your shipping costs and as soon as shipping is payed they will be sent on there way to you to enjoy! Shipping within the US generally takes 3-5 business days.

Explenation of Non-refundable 30% deposit
Posted 11 years agoBecause of past instances of people feeling entitled to the 30% nonrefundable deposit i wanted to offer an explanation of why it even exists in the first place.
╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════════╗
oThis is a standard and nearly universal practice among fursuit makers to protect the work put into a commission from the moment the deposit is sent.
oThis deposit holds your slot. Meaning it holds us both to an agreed upon result. To me making your suit , which means doing all the 'prep' work involved. but to you also making sure payment will not only be complete but in the agreed upon time frame.
oThe deposit covers the cost of supplies. Supplies are not just fur but, other fabrics,clips, pins, glues, needles, thread, foam and not just 1 type, multiply types and thickness of foam are used. Along with plastic, paints, sealants, dyes and in some cases electronics, wires, battery packs, LEDS. Etc.
oThe deposit covers per-commission work and organization. Vast amounts of hours go into emails, checking fur and fabric colors, ordering swatches, ordering supplies and separating them out for each commission. Prepping DTD and converting patterns to the needed size. Etc.
oThe deposit means other work is turned away. When you secure your slot i am turning away other potential work. When cancellation or failure to complete payment happens i have turned away other potential income.

When a commission is cancelled or payment is failed to be completed the money that was counted on coming in is lost. Even though the deposit is kept, time, the slot and income is still lost. All i can do is push forward. The deposit does help the hit but still everything else is lost and i'm left to try and make up the refunded income in the future because that current slot is gone.
I hope this helps others understand this practice. It seems unfair to the outside. It seems like we are keeping money for nothing. But we are not. We do not come out ahead in this situation even with the deposit. Please make sure you are both serious and financially stable for a commission. No one wins in the situation of a cancelled commission from choice or failure of complete payment. I do my best to understand that life happens but only so much bending can be done but i do try to bend when i can.

Prices and Terms may change but customers will be held to the copy which was originally agreed upon. By sending down payment you are confirming you read and are agreeing to my ToS and will abide by them.
PRICES:
Basic partial: Starts at $3000+
Everything listed above plus:
-Arm sleeves machine sewn and industrial upholstery thread for hand sewn markings, thick elastic strap across back to keep arms up.
-Feet paws in out door style, no shoe slipper style.
Full Suit: Start at $4500+
Parts included as those listed above in the partial(minus arm sleeves and or leg sleeves) plus a plantigrade style body suit. All securely machine sewn and industrial upholstery thread hand sewn markings. Tails will be attached unless requested otherwise.
Full Suit with padding: Start at $5200+
Parts listed above except a Digitagrade body suit instead of a plantigrade bodysuit. Padding will be sewn separate pillows. Tails will be attached unless requested otherwise.
Extras offered but not limited to:
Vinyl/fleece/minky claws
vinyl/fleece/minky horns/spikes
whiskers

Allergy Warning:
o I have a cat who thinks everything is hers. I try to keep her away but it is very likely she will come into contact with your fur at least once. Keep this in mind when commissioning me!
Payment:
o Accepted forms of payment are through PayPal and money order. Money orders will receive a 5% discount
o Payment plans may be arranged. Shipping prices are not included in the final suit price and are calculated upon completion. A shipping quote can be given.
o Preferred payment plans are 30% to begin and final 70% no more than four months after first payment is made. Further payment plans may be discussed do not be afraid to ask.
o 30% non-refundable payment is expected; this covers material costs and reserving your slot. Want a more in depth explanation on why it's non-refundable and what it covers? Read here
o Business will only be handled customers who are 18 years of age or older.
Shipping:
o Customer is expected to pay shipping costs
o Shipping costs will be an additional fee and not added into the original costume quote
o Items will not be shipped until the entire project including shipping is paid in full.
o International customers are responsible for knowing the import laws and fees of their country and must be willing to cover any customs fees.
Warranty:
o All products have a 30 day warranty which covers any issue which is fault of my own. (Such as a popped seam or missing feature etc.) Any damage resulting from negligence will not be covered. (poor storage, extreme conditions etc. ) Shipping for the return will be covered by the customer and shipping back will be covered by myself once repairs are complete.
o Warranty is void if alterations are made by someone other than Fursuit Parade, there is damage caused by improper use, storage, or cleaning, or the items transfers ownership.
o If an item sent back to me has untold damage of excessive condition(such as stains any more then normal dirt, rips, burns etc.) It will be sent back at the customers expense.
Cancellations:
o I hold the right to cancel a commission at any time should I feel the need; refunds will be discussed based on completion of commissioned work and reason for cancellation.
o Customer cancellations or failure to complete payment before you set completion month will result in your commission being resold, destroyed or used in separate projects. 30% deposit is lost and refunds will be discussed based on reason for cancellation/failures and amount of pre-work that has been put into the project.
o Payments beyond the deposit will be refunded in a timely manner by Paypal, check or money order should a project be cancelled. Refunds may be paid in pieces and will rarely be all at once.
Creation and process:
• Suit must be fully paid before dedicated work can start
• This is a work of art that also needs to be made to be worn and enjoyed. This means it takes time. I try to keep things on a strict schedule by giving completion months but they are NOT guaranteed to be met.
• All business will be handled through email at Jing[at]fursuitparade.com (no exceptions)
• Have a very clear and current image or description of the design you have in mind. I am also willing to work with ideas or artistic liberty projects. Once Down payment is received and/or materials are purchased and/or work has started your design may not be changed!
• If you attempt to change your design once supplies have been purchased and/or down payment has been received and/or work has been started you will be charged for any extra needed supplies plus a flat fee.
• If you change your design after the original quote was given your new design will need to be evaluated and a new quote will be given.
• I will not work from images or designs of preexisting costumes or characters protected by copyrights.
• Duct Tape Dummies are required for full body costumes and expected to be mailed in a reasonable time frame. Any duct tape dummy received which I am unable to work with will be thrown away and a new one will be expected at customer’s expense.
• I am happy to provide updates at the customer’s request!
• Work in progress images may sporadically be posted to any Fursuit Parade gallery or media site. If the customer wishes for a project to be kept private until completion please inform me as early as possible.
• If a specific deadline is needed please inform me as early as possible! Though deadlines are not guarantee, I will do my best to accommodate your needs!
o All finished costumes will be modeled and photographed for portfolios and promotional material. Character’s appearance and name may be shared publicly in portfolios, galleries, social media and promotional material.
Customer input regarding construction
o Suggestions or voicing desires for the over all look of your head is always fine and i will do my best to achieve your desired looked for the character within my style! However due to past incidents i will in no way accept being micro managed during my construction and process of making your suit as it results in a sub-par product that no one deserves. If you are EXTREMELY particular about how you want things to look i think you should find someone else. If you commission me i like to think you enjoy my work and style and to get the absolute best suit i can give you need to let me work the way i work.
Do not get me wrong though, if the ears are not the right shape or are too small too big, minor things please voice your desire for them to be different and i will happily comply. If you want something more super toony or monster like then my normal style i am happy to comply and love trying new things! Feel free to give me references of looks you like but you have to let me run with it and work with it and trust that i will give you the best product i can offer and given the chance i can achieve a wide range of different looks.
o If you ask for changes that go from my normal plan/style YOU are taking the risk of it not turning out like my normal styled suits. I will kindly voice my opinion and if you still insist on the change you are accepting and taking the risk of it not turning out how you imagined due to it not being my normal way or style of work. I am not responsible for an undesired outcome due to requested changes.
