Update
Posted 8 years agoSchool is done - I got married - I am currently moving.
Starting in December I will be continuing regular work on current projects.
With one project being refunded, I just have one on the board for work.
After that project is finished I plan to open commissions, but only to previous customers for any kind of upgrades/alterations/re-do's to previous projects.
Otherwise I want to make a stock of ready-made items to put up for sale.
Those will either be sold online or at conventions.
Mainly I have a lot of fur that I'd like to use up so I can get fresh material.
That is the current game plan.
A lot revolves around what work I get outside of suit making.
Suit making is not going to be my sole job or income.
I do plan on taking open commissions to the public after some time, but they will be very limited slots for heads/partials/fullsuits.
My future goal for suit making is not to take on a lot of work at once, as that ends up with people waiting a long time for something they've already paid for.
Take a project or two, close, finish those projects, open for couple more.
Also notes will remain closed until I finish my current queue.
In short:
- Finish current projs
- Priority to previous customers
- Ready-made items to sell
- Limited commission openings

Notes Disabled
Posted 9 years agoWith current project customers in the queue having contacts with me elsewhere, I am now disabling notes on this site!
This is mainly because I am still closed for commissions for the following year at minimum.
Doing this to discourage inquiries on commissions while I can not take them.
If/when I open commissions again I will then re-enable notes on this site.
School is interesting!
Learning a lot, excited for the following year :)

Commissions Closed - Undetermined Time
Posted 9 years agoThe title does not lie.
Commissions are going to be closed for at least a year, if not longer.
Why?
Well I'm going back to school!
What major? Special Effects Make-up!
Super excited :D
Current commissions - I'm trying my hardest to finish up before school starts, that being June.
After they're done its focusing on school work or, -if- I have free time, personal projects (unlikely though).
Once I finish all my current commissions I will be closing notes here.
Thank you everyone for your continued interest!
Hopefully after a year I can come back and keep creating amazing costumes for you :)
Look forward to the next couple months of me getting work DONE!!

Video On Making A Tail
Posted 9 years agoVideo has a little cursing.
Is fairly sarcastic.
Completely accurate! :D
Mostly silly but sorta informative video on making a costume tail.
Show it to all your friends!
Closed For Commissions
Posted 10 years agoAll commissions, even parts, are currently closed.
I need to get through my current queue of projects.
After that I want to take a break from commissions to work on personal projects.
Want to make some pre-made items to sell also.
I am also closing for quotes, being that I expect to update my prices soon.
Also my quotes are only good for so long before they expire, and with me closing for commissions, it would just be silly.
As always, thank you so much for your continued interest in my work!
As a reminder, the queue is color coded
Yellow = something with a head.
Orange = Bodysuit (which is currently only for locals/practice)
No color = Parts commission
Green = Still being paid for

Commission Status
Posted 10 years agoI feel the need to talk about the next time I might possibly open for more Head/Partial/Fullsuit commissions.
The short answer: I don't know.
Take a quick click to my profile and you'll see the queue has gained a bit of length to it.
My goal is to have the Owl partial done and Ka Fullsuit made up to partial status by summer/AC.
I was thinking after that I could open for more slots, however I'll have a few bodysuits to work on as well as another partial (and parts). So I'll still have a good bit to focus on.
Its key to keep in mind that, while I would love for fursuit making to be my main job and take in a constant stream of work, I haven't gotten quite to that speed yet. And sacrificing quality for speed is not an acceptable option.
I'm also thinking after the current queue is worked through, I may take a small break to work on personal projects or pre-mades. By no means will I be taking a permanent break from custom commissions!! Just a short breather to work on something different, stretch my arms a bit, test some new methods.
So it is somewhat possible that I won't take on big projects until next year, or late this current year.
At this time parts remain at a constant open!
So if you really want to commission something from me, thats an option :)
Thank you all for your continued patience <3
Edit - I just added a color code to the commission queue.

Panel At FurTheMore
Posted 10 years agoAre you going to FurTheMore?
Interested in just how you make these crazy animal masks?
Then you should check out my panel!
"Fundamentals of Fursuit Head Building"
(listed as hosted by "Uruhei" as that is my non-business online name.)
Sunday at 12:30.
It will be the first panel I've ever done.
This won't be 100% how I personally make suits, but rather different methods you can try and figure out your own preferences from.
Will be aimed more towards an audience who has little to no experience making fursuit heads.
You're also welcome to just sit in the room and pressure me with your judging eyes, thats fun too :P

Getting Back to Work
Posted 11 years agoI am feeling good enough to get back to working on commissions.
Work is slow, mainly because my internal schedule is wacky. That will even out eventually.
If anyone wants to know the status of their commission, as always, you are free to message me asking such. Status is posted on the profile, but you're always free to message me for a more personal report.
On a different note:
FA was down for like⦠idk a week or something?
Do keep in mind I have other means of contact. They are always listed on my profile.
Though if the site isn't even in read only mode thats not entirely helpful.
But I think my email shouldn't be to hard to remember as its the same as the business name.
Email: furuarts[at]gmail.com
I can also be contacted via Twitter or Tumblr, if you feel so inclined.
Twitter: https://twitter.com/FuruArts
Tumblr: http://furuarts.tumblr.com
I very much hope to have a website going by the beginning of next year.
Haven't touched that in a while though, something to re-focus on.

Life and Work Update
Posted 11 years agoSept 12 I had surgery on my foot, little over a week after the accident.
This past week, after the surgery, has been taking it extremely easy and slow as my foot was in a good amount of pain.
Next week on tues, last day of the month, I'm meeting with the doctor to (ideally) get pins taken out of my foot.
After that I'll hopefully get a boot instead of my current soft cast. The soft cast I have to be fairly careful with where as a boot I'll feel little more protected with.
So the gist is, I have not been able to get any work done since accident.
I am just now starting to get set up to cut fur. However-
All commissions are currently on hold.
I very much don't want that to be the situation, but I'm not in the position to properly work on things for others. I don't want to cut corners or suffer in quality.
I will be doing a little busywork on hand sewing for side projects at this time.
Commissions will be delayed unfortunately, but I don't want to give paying customers sub par work.
Thank you everyone for your patience.
Healing as fast as allowed.

Slot Filled & TOS Complete
Posted 11 years agoThe most recent slot opening for a head or partial has been filled!
As always anyone is welcome to contact for a quote at any time.
Just if you want to actually commission you will have to wait till the next time I open slots, which likely won't be till around winter or so.
I also officially finished my Terms of Service.
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4477430/
So if you plan on commissioning me or are currently commissioning me, it is worth at least a browse through.
Also a minor update, the Commission Prices page now has estimates/starting prices for fursuit Heads, Partials, and even fullsuits (though fullsuits/bodysuits are still unavailable at this time).
Next on the list of business duties (aside from making fluffy things) is to get a website going!
I've started work on one, but that will be slowly chipped away at.
Making progress within!! Stay tuned :)

I now have a twitter dedicated to fursuit related updates.
You might get pictures, you will get daily (or near daily) updates on what I worked on that day, as well as what my work plans for the whole week is.
I am very very new to twitter, just got a personal one about a week ago to test the waters.
So hopefully I'm using it properly.
This by no means replaces messaging customers directly with updates.
But even with customers I keep to the more substantial updates.
Like I'm not going to message them with minor things as 'I cut your fur! *shows picture of fur all over my livingroom*' or 'I finished sewing half your face *shows picture of seams inside the head*', that stuff just isn't super important or visually pleasing. (Unless the customer hasn't had an update in a while and needs to see the little things to know that work -is- getting done.)
I do keep a percentage tab on my profile, but its very simplified.
So this is basically a way to keep up on the little things between the substantial things.

Notice
Posted 11 years agoThis is just a general notice for future commissioners.
Please do not email me through my paypal email.
That email is old, I do not check it anymore/very rarely check it, and is what I used to set up my paypal account.
I would change it but paypal has a habit of getting temperamental if you change any kind of important information. I don't want to get locked out of my account or some odd thing.
My work email is on this profile at all times.
I check this email at least once a day.
Work email: Furuarts[at]gmail.com
Thank you very much~

Contacts
Posted 11 years agoSo with the most recent FA outage I realized I should really have an email available for those who want to contact me.
I've had a business email set up for a while but never posted it for fear of it being abused or getting spam emails.
I'll have to deal with that though because my customers being able to contact me is much more important.
Email: furuarts[at]gmail.com
As far as other websites you can find me and contact me on.
Tumblr: http://furuarts.tumblr.com
I have a DeviantArt but I do not take costume commissions through that website anymore. To many negative experiences.
I also have Weasyl but am no longer active there as its a ghost town. Though with this past week bringing people to the site I'm going to keep an eye on it.
But neither of these sites I'm going to link to as I don't take commissions from them/ am not active enough.
This page and/or my main FA is still the most preferred way of contacting me.
Thank you.

Terms of Service
Posted 12 years agoPLEASE DO NOT COMMENT ON THIS JOURNAL.
All comments will be hidden. If you have a question please send me a note!
Age Restriction
Customers must be 18 or older to commission work from FurUArts.
Quotes
Price quotes expire after 2 months. After such a point it is recommended to be re-quoted as prices may have changed.
A 2 to 3 point view reference sheet is required to be properly quoted. Quotes will not be given based on a general art piece of a character.
If there are any features on your character that you want to guarantee are done right please notify me about them!
If you require the costume to withstand above average wear (LARP combat, rough housing, use on rough terrain, etc.) please notify so that I can quote and construct appropriately.
Once a project is started absolutely no changes to the character design can be made.
At this time FurUArts does not give or take deadlines.
Heads and partials are estimated to take around 6 months once started.
I reserve the right to turndown any rush orders or unreasonable deadlines.
I do not want to rush your project and give you a lesser quality item.
I reserve the right to cancel any commission at any stage of the process if the commissioner is rude, threatening, harassing, or otherwise unreasonable.
The customer may cancel the project at anytime resulting in the balance (minus the deposit) to be refunded.
Payments
Payment is accepted in form of Paypal only at this time.
You are free to discuss other payment options with me.
From the total cost of the item, not including shipping, 30% WILL BE A NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT.
A spot for you in the queue will not be reserved until this deposit is paid. The deposit must be paid in one full payment, it can NOT be split.
Payment plans are accepted and will be discussed between I and the customer.
If the payment plan is not followed, and no contact from the customer is made, I reserve the right to cancel your project and refund what has been paid (minus the 30% deposit).
If I issue a refund due to lack of payment and contact, you will be notified.
If a project is canceled but work has already begun, I reserve the right to re-sell the item.
If something happens that delays you in making a payment please contact me explaining the situation.
Work on a project will not start until AT LEAST the 30% deposit has been made.
Depending on the cost of the item I may wait until 50% is paid for, or until full payment is made, before the project is started.
Shipping
Shipping costs are an ADDITIONAL fee added onto the original item price.
Shipping will not be calculated until the item is complete and will not be charged for until such time.
Shipping is determined by the size and weight of the box, which is why it can not be charged for until after the item is complete.
The item will NOT be shipped until the full payment of both item and shipping is paid for in full.
Items will be held for no longer than 60 days.
If item cost and shipping has not been paid for by this time then the customer forfeits ownership of the item. A refund, minus the non-refundable 30% deposit, will be given.
If ownership is forfeit then I, the maker, reserve the right to re-sell your project. If item is to be re-sold I will change it from your original character design, unless the design is fairly generic and not requiring change (this will be determined by myself).
If your item needs to be returned for repairs or other reasons I am NOT responsible for shipping costs.
ALL shipping is to be paid for by the customer.
Shipping includes insurance and tracking.
I use USPS. If you want me to use a different shipping company then please request so ahead of time so I can properly price the shipping.
I also ship international. All the above applies to such as well.
Warranty/Returns
All items come with a 60 DAY limited warranty from the date the item is delivered.
In this time repairs are free, aside from shipping costs.
Warranty includes reporting mis-fittings. If mis-fittings are reported AFTER the 60 day warranty is up it will be an additional cost to fix the issue.
Warranty is void if item is altered in any way, abused or used improperly, or soiled/has a smell/has not been cleaned properly.
Please clean item before return. If item is improperly cleaned (ex: washed in warm water, put in dryer, melted fur, has an oder) this will void the warranty.
If for a sensible reason (I reserve the right to determine if the reason is sensible) you are not satisfied with the work, you can return the item for the balance (minus the non-refundable deposit, and not including shipping).
The refund may be in installments or a full lump sum depending on the situation.
Items must be in the best possible condition, within warranty conditions, in order for a refund to be issued.
Items must be unused/unworn to be eligible for refund.
Only Heads, Partials, or Fullsuits are eligible for refunds.
Parts commissions are not eligible for refund. Costume must qualify as a single transaction (ordered all at the same time).
Example, if parts were ordered separately that over time equate to a partial/fullsuit those items would not be eligible for refund. Only the head would be eligible for refund.
Refund is only issued after item is received and verified by FurUArts.
If an item if returned/refunded I reserve the right to re-sell the item, altered or unaltered.
Measurements
It is recommended that customer provides sneakers to build feet off of. This will guarantee proper fit and comfort.
If sneakers can not be provided then customer will be charged extra as well as not guaranteed to be a perfect fit.
Hand paws require a hand tracing.
Tracings are to be done on paper, with fingers spread as much as possible, and mailed to FurUArts.
Bodysuits/fullsuits require a duck tape dummy.
Heads will just need circumference measured (measure at brow line).
In Closing
By ordering costume items from FurUArts, buyer has agreed to these policies.
Commissioners hold responsibility for the payment of and maintenance for their purchase.
Item starting prices are listed here! --> http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4444702/
All comments will be hidden. If you have a question please send me a note!

In Closing
