After a few months and a zillion pestering friends later, I finally decided to sit down and watch a few episodes of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. After sitting down and thinking about it for a bit, I have finally reached an opinion: it's good, but not great.

First off, the animation is pretty clean. Despite being Flash animated, all the characters have a nice clean, cut look and animate very smoothly on screen. The show definitely has a distinct style that works quite well with the show's theme. So in terms of looks, MLP nails it.

Next is the actual substance. That's where MLP falls somewhat flat. Granted, it's a show aimed at children, and is designed (let's face it) to sell toys. But a little depth wouldn't have hurt. The series starts with some storyline about a villainous "demon pony" (I just can't seem to remember her name) who is trying to rid the land of Equistria (get it?) of sunlight, casting it in darkness forever. That's some pretty heavy stuff for a show about talking ponies. Basically, the story just sets up the stage for the five main characters to meet and become friends and have adventures and yadda yadda yadda. I'll admit I was impressed with the way it was handled. But after the Darkness storyline is completed, it just goes to the Ponies having cutesy adventures and learning lessons. Perfect for children, but not for someone older than 11. It's basically seemed like something I could find on PBS Kids.

So to recap: this show's got some definite style, but little in the way of substance, which is expected. However, it definitely doesn't warrant this crazy obsession everyone seems to be having with them. I literally heard someone refer to this as one of the best cartoons ever, even comparing it to Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. No it's not. Foster's had a rowdy, unpredictability to it that made it such a joy to watch. MLP? I literally could predict how each episode would go before I was even half way through. So to recap: It's a show made for kids. Just because Gennedy Tartorovosky's wife is working on it does not mean it's automatically fantastic.

MLP could be a great show later on if they attempt to do something more with it, but for now it just falls on "mildly entertaining". Hopefully, this whole "PONIEZ OMG" phase will end soon. And we can all hop onto the next crazy fad like we always do.

I hate Runblebee.

It's a sad day today, seeing as popular comic scribe and writer Dwayne McDuffie died today due to complications from surgery. It's especially surprised me, since I had just purchased All-Star Superman, a film he worked on. I had always loved his work, including Static Shock, the Justice League cartoons (Unlimited, especially). I even liked his recent work on Ben 10: Ultimate Alien.

He's definatey on of my favorite writers, and he will be missed.

Yes, I know I'm late on the Splatterhouse bandwagon, but I just beat the game two days ago. And i can honestly say that I really, REALLY don't like it. You can only shiskabob an opponent with your fist so many times before it gets boring.

I recently have been going over some of the issues that I missed of comic book series that I like (Batman, Sonic the Hedgehog, Green Lantern Corps, etc.). A buddy of mine then decided to show me two comics that were so bad, he just had to show me:

Teen Titans: I stopped reading this comic a few years ago because the stories had turned into pretentious dribble in which almost all my favorite Titans got killed (most of 'em by Deathstroke/Slade). My friend decided to show me what the Titans' book had in 2010: A new character named Cinder that literally killed people with FIRE FROM HER VAGINA.

...I implore you, I am NOT kidding. She has sex wih a child molester and melts him to death with vagina lava while he's having an orgasm. Beause that's what ladies do, right? Spew fire from their reproductive organs. I don't who's fucking idea at DC it was to write that, but they should just stop. Now. PLEASE.

Justice League: Rise of Arsenal: This one I had actually read about on Comics Alliance, and I had to check it out for myself. This comc is just AWFUL. I mean "awful" as in I felt filthy after reading it, and wanted to BURN it. I don't even know where to begin: Arsenal (formerly Speedy/Red Arrow, Green Arrow's sidekick) has gotten his arm chopped off (replaced with a "neat-o" cybernetic one) and his adorable daughter was pointlessly murdered. Totally shitting bricks about all that, Arsenal beats up his Ex-Wife, a noted assassin (all while reminicing about the awesome buttsecks they had). He then decides to go do HEROIN and HELLUCINATE (HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU HELLUCINATE ON HEROIN !?!), in which he beats up some innocent people with a DEAD CAT (no, I am not kidding). The only enjoyable part in the book is when Batman (Dick Grayson) kicks Arsenal in the face for being a dumbfuck. I did not see the point in this shit-they-call-a-story. I like DC. They've been producing some great titles over the past few years (especially Grant Morrison's Batman). But this? Nope.

February and March are gonna be rad, because I finally get to play the game I've waited 10 years for: Marvel VS. Capcom 3! And also, Pokemon: Black and White finally hits America in March! (getting black myself). I can't wait!

2011 Everybody! 2010 was a pretty big year, wasn't it? For me, finishing my first year in college, my house flooding, etc. Crazy-ass shit.

Took some time out of my schedule (just for a bit) to ask something. I never do comms, but I there's a few games on the Wii market place that I've had my eyes on (mainly Cave Story). Welp, thought I should be the one who gives his opinion on the Cub Ban for the 3000th time today. First, lemme start out by saying this is the Internet. We can all do what we want on it (within reason) because it's protected by Free Speech and all that jazz. So your Cub Porn is now baned, and your crying "What about Amendment One?" Well here's the awesome thing about Amendment One: EVERYONE HAS IT. So if Dragoneer decides he wants to ban Cub Porn, he can sure as hell ban Cub Porn.

Yesterday, someone decided to post a piece of Chowder (an underage cartoon character) taking it up the butt. That person thought they were making a stand, and I applaud that they had the balls to do it. HOWEVER, they were doing it for all the wrong reasons. FA is not banning Cub Porn because it's trying to limit your Free Speech; it's trying to save it's ass from impending legal trouble down the road. So sorry that you can't post your pics of Yakko and Wakko going at it. That's life, and it's always unfair.

I do not support Cub Porn. In fact, I down-right despise it. But I always keep to myself and ignore such content (and many of the people who make it). If you draw Cub Porn, then fine. I'm glad for you. However, don't bitch about "your rights coming under attack" just because the stuff you draw is no longer allowed on ONE site. If FA one day said "no more fatty porn", I'd shrug, replace my gallery with different pics, and move my fatty art to another site. YOU SEE THAT? IT'S CALLED FREE WILL. YOU GUYS SHOULD TRY IT.

So if you draw Cub Porn, you got two options: Bitch and complain, or move on to a different site that allows it, because no one is forcing you to stay on FA.
