I set up a league on ESPN, and we need to fill some spots or we can't draft the league.
It's nothing serious, and it'll be pretty basic. My mate is a complete newbie at fantasy, and somewhat at hockey in general.... So if anyone who wants to join needs some help/pointers, I'd be happy to help.
Only real 'requirements' are to have/make an account on the website, and try to set your lineup at least once every week or two.
It's no fun, and pretty useless, if the person you're competing against only has half their team playing.
We need 4 spots, though we can accommodate more, potentially.
If we can, I set the draft up for 9/11 @ 8PM EST (USA). I can push the draft back to a point, though, as the first game is 10/13.
If I get no responses here, I'm going to ask on the Furry Hockey League page, FYI.

Anywho.... I digress.
I'm strongly considering starting to talk about 'stuff' on a more consistent basis on FA. Everything from movie and tv reviews, (music too? Books? Etc), recipes to try, current events and news, philosophical topics, and more. I want to know if any of my current watchers would be interested, or if you all would participate in a discussion, or at least say hi.
I'm also strongly considering finally watching some of the feminist frequency videos and 'reviewing' them, for better or worse, to get me excited about reviewing things.
If anyone has any thoughts, I'd love to hear them! Stay tuned, I may have another journal soon.

Real talk Friday morning...
Posted 11 years agoGah... Been having 'chest cramps' for oh.... 4 hours now. It's not a heart thing, so don't worry anyone. I've been told it's a form of severe indigestion. I believe it might actually be that, but the root cause is probably General Anxiety Dosorder, or GAD.
The way I describe the chest pains, at least, is like this... It's not exactly 'pain' exactly, but it can hurt like hell. Worst pain I can remember in my life. It's like a pressure, building inside, right in the center of my chest, under my nipples but above my stomach and digestive system proper. No throbbing, burning, stabbing, anything like that.
I say the cause is GAD because I have a number of the symptoms. I've been battling clinical depression for a few years now, any major 'stress' sets me in a depressive spiral where I can't get anything done, and I have a bout of 'indigestion' with incredible timing and consistency, my stomach usually does do flips wherein I'm nauseaous and/or using the facilities, and from pre-school to 2nd grade I had a 'nervous stomach' oftentimes in the morning before leaving for school.
Stresses are too common. Granted, my situation seems to be a lot better than the majority of furs on FA.... But I do have my own stresses. Issues with school, a loving but (and I can't stress this enough) INSANE family that is extremely hard to talk to or with in a meaningful way (which does not help the depression), and my workplace is closing shortly, leaving me without the small but steady income I am used to, among other everyday circumstances.... It's kinda killing me here.
I just need to vent..... To let someone know and read and understand my current issues. Some on here and I close to, others very close, and many many more only acquaintances or less. I just... Blarg. Just typing this out to you fuzz butts seems to be lifting a bit of weight off my shoulders. But idk how long that feeling will last. Things just pile up more and more. I wish I could hit a pause button on life, get my ducks in line, and then resume without any penalty. The real world doesn't work that way though.
I don't know if I'm angry that it doesn't work that way, feel it needs to change a bit to allow that... Or actually understand that things would need to change radically for the thought itself to be considered seriously.
Anywho.... Last bit. I'm searching for some advice with this cramp atm. Again, it's been going for nearly 5 hours now, actually. Usually, some pacing, rocking back and forth, drinking ginger ale, cooling down, moaning and yelling, using the facilities, throwing up, taking tums/pepto, deep breathing, stroking or slapping my knees, or burping usually gets the cramp to let up completely.
Having done all those already, with a decrease in the pressure (from an 8/10 high pain earlier down to a 3/10 now), it still has not gone away completely.
Anyone have any tried and true methods of dealing with something like this?
Aside from winning the lottery and not having some of the stresses, of course XP

But better now than before, so it's all good ^^

Another shooting earlier in an Oregon high school, after ones in Vegas, California (I think) and more. What the heck?!?!?
I'm so tired of all the bickering and fighting, and humming and hawing, and nothing is done about real issues facing our country. Especially those the majority of Americans agree with!!!
Most want a minimum wage increase, a path to citizenship, medical marijuana and gay marriage legalization, and at the least background checks for buying a gun. Why are none of these things a law already?
Why are they not being voted on, discussed, or even planned on capital hill? They fight on the airwaves, and do nothing on the job. Nothing. Zip.
It is ridiculous beyond belief we actually function. I doubt we really do sometimes.
Would anyone want me to, or care if I, start writing about news stuff and ranting? I just need to vent, really I do. I'd love to present my opinions and have an actual debate, or conversation, about some of these issues.
What about other 'future' issues? AI citizenship or personhood? Self-driving car legality? Post-scarcity economies? Nano and bio tech development?

Legend of Korra..... What? Review-ish thing
Posted 12 years agoSo... For a little while now I've been debating on if I want to review different... things, be they TV shows I'm watching, movies, books... entertainment options. As well as analyzing news stories of the day, offering quotes and other thoughts, and all sorts of other junk. Even maybe recipes and going all foodie. I think I'd like to, but I doubt many people would want to read it, let alone my figuring out where to post these things, and all that jazz. Regardless of all that, I still really wanted to give my 2 cents about Book 2: Spirits, the show overall, and specifically the 'season finale.'
So, SPOILER WARNING!!!!!! Especially if you are waiting for the last 2 episodes to premiere on Nick!
On Korra (series):
Meh. Everyone and their uncle (Iroh) knows and says that this series is not up to snuff compared to A:tLA. It's true. Team Avatar 2.0 doesn't have the same heart, or chemistry. The characters lack some consistency, and experience little apparent growth. It's a fine show, sure. Better than most shows on TV period, arguably. Sadly for Korra, it will (and should) be compared to tLA, and it will fall short. The best parts of the show are the side characters, truth be told. Varrick and Ju Li (spelling, I know) were a lot of fun this season, let alone a fan favorite from the original series. Lin was the best part of book 1, aside from Steve Blum voicing Amon (though he was only meh as a villain, at least we got some background and motivation, and he was a more 'mature' villain than Ozai (and Unaloq)). Obviously I'm leaving the best for last with Wan and Origins parts 1 & 2. Would I LOVE a season or two following the first first avatar? YES! Will we get one? Probably not.
On Spirits (Book 2):
Is it better than book 1? In parts, yes. Other parts, not so much. Did it expand a lot of the mythos, give us a few answers, give the writers a lot of potential future stories and introduce a lot of fan service elements? Heck yeah! Did it remind us why we love Mako and miss him, re-introduce a stupid love-triangle element,
Honestly, I really liked the Tenzin arc. For disliking him a majority of the time in book 1, he really grew on me this time. His family did too (except for the creepy and annoying little boy of his). The overall idea of the spirits was pretty cool, and again the whole Howard Hughes thing Varrick was playing with all season was a hoot. Unaloq got NO background or motivation (nor did Vaatu, now that I think of it, in reference to his actions after being imprisoned. How did he and Unaloq meet up anyway?) the ENTIRE time. The civil war didn't feel important, at all, even though Korra's dad proved to be pretty awesome. Nuntuk got grating after a while, up until he fought the 'kidnappers' in the stadium last week, which was pretty fun. Yet another thing everyone seems to have mentioned is the animation studio issues, with Mir being great (see Origins) and Pierrot (?) giving us non-blinking mannequins. All told..... I'n not buying it. I already downloaded Origins, and that's well enough for me.
Oh, and how come ALL dark spirits follow Vaatu/oppose team avatar, and all light spirits kinda maybe sorta help maybe?
On the season finale episodes:
I didn't like them. I'm one of those people who generally speaking follows along and wants to see what the writers are doing. I survived famously bad movies like both Ghost Rider films, Batman and Robin, and more to the end before actually deciding I didn't like them, granted I immediately during the show realized I hated parts of them (ie every line of dialogue from Robin). At the end of the 1st part of the finale, I just couldn't really go on with that suspension of judgement, which felt really weird. Needless to say, I did finish watching, and my opinion did not change during part 2.
There were a LOT of things that stuck out to me, and I'm just going to list them for ease.
1. Unaloq beating Korra time and again even though she's the freaking Avatar, and using the Avatar State half the time. I understand he's more experienced, but she can call on thousands of past lives, given that Unaloq barely beating Papa Avatar
2. Super-sized DA and Spirit Korra. Why? What purpose does it serve? How can they do that? Why did no previous avatar do that? (Yeah, yeah, Aang and the Ocean spirit, but not the same thing).
3. How are Raava and Korra forcibly separated? And what's this bullcrap about the past lives being severed? Granted their spirits can show up (see Papa Aang) but that's still a TERRIBLE development. Let alone 'dark water whips' from Unatar....
4. Jinora. Great character, lot of development, great guru material, etc. What did she do at the end there? Gather the particles of Raava and push them into Vaatu so Korra could pull it back out?? What??
5. Finally a GOOD point, but Tenzin growing as a person, as a sibling, father, spiritually, etc. That mist was the best thing to happen to him in 2 years.
6. I'm sure there are others. I'm still sifting through this stuff in my mind, but I wanted a fresh take for my first real public review, and mainly so I didn't forget how miffed parts of this got me.
I will point out that I've heard other people complain. Dark Unaloq ONLY used water (and spirit) bending. Oh, also there should be NO Dark Avatar cycle.

I like to roleplay TF... 3 hasn't popped up, but I'm sure I'd like it

TF has always been an interest for as long as I can remember... 5 Self explanatory, no?
I share my TF interest with my real life friends... 1 Mainly online
I wish TF was possible in real life... 6 Yup
If I could TF into anything in real life, I would and it would be... 5 my sona with a touch of extra shapeshifting, though anything with a tail is fine with me
If TF was possible and reversible, I'd want to try it regardless of how painful it could ever be... 4 very pain averse
If TF was possible into the form that I've always wanted, but I knew I could never go back, I'd take it... 4 sure, if others are along for the ride somewhere in the world, or things 'magically' or qickly adapt
I've had TF dreams while sleeping... 2 a few times
I daydream about TF when there is downtime... 2 daydream about other stuff more
Favorite changes:
I like being the subject of a TF (or my character)... 5 heck yeah
I like watching someone else undergo a TF (or their character)... also heck yeah
I like animal TF... 3 not bad, but some things are better
I like anthro TF... 5 Yes sir may I have another please
I like gender TF... 4 Love to know the other side
I like inanimate TF... 0 absolutely never
I like latex/rubber TF... 1 bleh
I like monster TF... 3 depends on the type of monster
I like cartoon characters TF (MLP, pokemon, etc)... 3 sure, why not
I like size change... 3 Depends on what sort/body part
I like tail growth... 6
I like bodily covering change (fur, feathers, scales, etc)... 4 sure
I have a favorite body part TF... 6 Tail all the way
I like other types of changes... 3 Don't know what else there is?
Favorite triggers:
I like magic-based TF (spells, curse, etc)... 3 it's fun
I like science-based TF (injection, etc)... 5 hoping science finds a way
I like goo-based TF... goo is kinda meh
I like sex-based TF... 4 Abso-frickin-lutely
I like hypnosis TF... 1 don't like not being in control
I like other TF methods / don't care how it's started... 4 tf is tf, though most causes seem basically covered in some respect (goo &/or sex ~ bodily fluids? ~ bite)
Favorite process:
I like TF that occurs in less than 5 minutes... 3 sure
I like TF that takes much longer... 4 more time for fun
I like when changes take place heterogeneously, or each body part successively... 4 gotta enjoy the growth and change
I like forced TF... 3 Most are in some way, at least in stories and pics
I like when the subject is resisting/not enjoying it... 1 tf, but bleh
I like consensual TF... 5 Yes
I like painful TF... 2 I'd take it, but the pain would suck
I like pleasurable TF... 5 Obviously
I like when the victim loses their human mind... 0 boo
I like permanent TF... 4 It's still tf, even with all the issues

I doubt people will check THIS journal, but I wanted to try to break the load of free raffle stuff into a few journals, but not too many, for a nice balance.
