New computer build: Complete!
Posted 13 years agoYes, after several months of saving and budgeting and a few days of building (and waiting for parts to come in) my new rig is finally complete!
My thanks goes to
captainq and 
xipher for their advice with my fan issue. Q, turns out you were right! One of my adapters was loose, enough to have the LED show that there was power to the board, but not enough to power the fans themselves.
So yeah, I did my customary 'game test' that I have done for every new computer I've used in the last six years... I installed flight simulator, and BOY OH BOY the planes sure do look puuuuurty! :3
Colour me excited right now, this is just completely awesome! :D
(Also, holy hell the graphics card was a pain to install in my case!)

Posted 13 years agoHope everyone's having a wonderful day of just sitting back, relaxing and enjoying time with family and friends. Even if it's not your religion or 'holiday's just aren't your thing' then just take the day as an excuse to be with your family. No commitments, no worrying, just enjoying your time together with the people you care for the most.

Damn you Glu! Where once I thought you made mediocre iPhone/Android games with decently high production values and were generally ok overall. Now I'm just kinda ticked off! After the laughable attempt that was MS FLIGHT casual fans of FSX are now unable to play multiplayer over the old servers. Sure, Gamespy was shit and it logged you out every 2 minutes or so because it was buggy as hell, but it was something at least! Of course there are still multiplayer services like VATSIM but those are for very hardcore fans only (I.E. you should know all the proper real world procedures before connecting). But what if
skinavish and I just wanna dick around in a Baron 52 and fly down the grand canyon? Well now we can't do that anymore! And of course it isn't just FSX that's been affected, tons of grand old games with dedicated followings have lost their multiplayer service due to this decision. Man, ACES is gone, Microsoft doesn't give a shit about their simulation franchises anymore. These last few years have been just horrible for the fandom in general. If Laminar Research and X-Plane ever go under that'd be the last of the major Flight sim franchises to go down...
Well, simmers are nothing if not resilient, we belong to one of the most obsessive and hard working niche followings in the gaming industry. These are the same people who will pay well over 2 grand in DLC for rail simulator trains, or will build pretend cockpits in their living rooms just to get the ultimate experience. And we shall survive this! *Triumphant trumpets and jets roaring overhead!*
Blah, sillyrant! This is kind of a sad subject for me as I always seem to get into franchises just as they're in their dying breaths. :/

Posted 13 years agoWith the conclusion of my bio midterm today (which I think went well, hooray! :D) my hell-stretch of 4 midterms in 6 days ends and I can actually come online more often again! I still have my economics (Part 2. :O) on the 7th, but I can handle that no problem.

I've got a lot of stories to tell, buuut I'm also really tired! So I'm just gonna sleep for like... A day.
