I'll be working from a photo reference again tonight.

Edit: Finished. Near the end I realised that I hadn't actually freed up a good amount of upload bandwidth for the stream, so it was only running at about 4 frames per second, though I guess that sort of thing doesn't matter too much for drawing.

Well that was fun!
Only streamed for about 45 minutes, but it was a good experience.
I don't think my connection really has enough upload bandwidth to do it well, but hopefully it still looked okay.

Edit Again:
I just watched some of the recorded stream. It turned out better than I'd thought it would.
The picture is fairly clear, and the framerate is quite acceptable.
I'll definitely do this again.
In the mean time, you can still go there and watch the recorded version of the stream on demand if you want.

At a friend's house.

Driving down on Wednesday, so getting into Melbourne on Wednesday night to be at the con from the start on Thursday.

Probably behind a table in the dealers den, or attending panels.

Maybe. I'm thinking of doing table top commissions too though, so paying customers will have to take priority.

I'm thinking of doing table top commissions. I might also try and sell some prints of my better works, and I'll probably be roped into selling patterpillars too.

Some people say I'm very tall.

Nope, but I do have a big floofy tail!

Also, back from the Furry BBQ/Bonfire/Campout. I had to work on Saturday, so I only got up there for Sunday and Monday, but it was a lot of fun.
Good to meet some more local furs in person, and to get to know the others I'd met before a bit better.
My jumper smells of smoke now. Nice reminder of fun times.

I feel like it's time to branch out a bit in my daily sketches, so I've decided to open up for "free commissions".

The way this will work is as follows:

- You provide a photo of a human. (This can be a photo of you, or some other photo you like the look of. They don't have to be naked like my anatomy sketches have been, though they can be if you want. No obvious genitals please.)

- You provide a reference sheet of your character.

- I do my daily sketch using that photo as a reference, and apply the details as per your reference sheet.

So the process is still pretty much the same as what I've been doing on my daily anatomy sketches, but you get to choose the photo reference and instead of detailing it up as a snowleopard, I'll detail it up as your character.

The detailing process includes fur, markings, anthro face and ears. Extra details such as tails, wings, horns, digitigrade legs, etc. may or may not be included at my discretion.

I will maintain all my usual restrictions on myself for these, same as my usual daily sketches.
Less than one hour, one brush and one colour only, no erasing or undoing.
So don't expect them all to turn out perfect, but hey, you're getting it for free!


I'm going to start with 7 slots. That's a week worth of daily pics.
Slots will be filled on a first come first served basis, but it isn't automatic.
I'll decide on each one after seeing the photo and ref sheet.
If I reject your one, I'll let you know if it was the photo or the ref sheet that I didn't like, and you can apply again with a different photo or ref sheet if there are still slots open.

As I fill the slots I'll update the journal to show how many remain.
Once they're all full I won't consider any further applications.
If it goes well and I open some more slots in the future you'll need to re-apply for them.

We made it back from Brisbane finally.
Left there at 9:30am, which should have meant getting home around 8pm, but no, our car decided to throw a tantrum a bit more than 100km north of Newcastle.
Anyway, got rescued by my Dad, and we finally got home around 2:30 or 3am.
Our car is sill somewhere up north of Newcastle though.
Fun times!

Well at least we had a good time at Supanova and made some money.

Off to Brisbane today for Supanova on Friday-Sunday. Coming back home on Monday.

I'm moving house at the moment, and it looks like we might have some trouble getting our internet connection transfered to the new location, so until that is sorted out I won't be online as much as usual.

I saw the new Alice in Wonderland movie today, in 3D!
I really enjoyed watching it, it was a lot of fun.
The 3D and general art style were very nice, but I found the story and character dialogue a bit lacking.

I've just now re-watched the old Alice in Wonderland so as to have fresh memories of both movies for a fair comparison and I've got to say that I still love the old one more.

Tim Burton's scenery and characters are suitably twisted and surreal, but the general tone of the movie, and the way the plot moves along is all together too sane for my liking.
Alice doesn't really show any wonder or awe at her bizarre surroundings, and her interactions with the characters that she meets are all very normal and logical.
It really lacks the surreal deamlike quality of her 1951 adventure.

I'm trying to find out the name of a TV show that I used to watch when I was very young.

It was aired in Australia in the late 80s or very early 90s.

It was live action.

It was about a young boy, and a young girl who was a ghost.

The intro or ending sequence showed the girl swinging on a swing, and then jumping off into the arms of her ghostly parents.

I think the final episode had the boy finding the girl's bones in some underground place like an abandoned mine or something.


Anyone know the show I'm talking about?
Or can you link me to a good TV show database or other resource that might help me in my quest?
