Fursona meme?

What made you choose the species of your main fursona?
Huh. Specs doesn't have a true species... she's a result of just mixing a grab bag of traits from some favorite animals. Her current cocktail is lynx, lemur, bat... and maybe something else, I'm not sure. She's gone through a number of strange forms with mostly the same ingredients. XD
I guess "Mutt" is species, but I never named it or anything. I should explore that.
Is your fursona just like you, or how you want to be?
Mmmm... yeah, Specs is pretty much fuzzy-me, with all my quirks and all my flaws. I know many fursonas are idealized or projections, but I have a human[oid] character for that.
Does your fursona have the same personality you have?
Let's see... she's intelligent, stubborn, has a tiny-dog complex (aka, bold in extreme disproportion to her size XD )... yeah, carbon copy, really, lol. Maybe a little extra quirkiness since a fictional character has a little more "permission" to be wacky all the time? I know I don't draw her as much, but yeah, she'd behave the same way I do.
Does your fursona have the same dislikes and likes as you do?
I'm sure we have most in common since she's just me, lol. We both like pancakes, animation, and soft pillow nests. And we hate more abstract things like ignorance and bigotry... but who doesn't hate those?
I suppose the only differences would be she likes/hates more #furryissues things... because she's furry. She likes lamenting over her lost tail and hates being called a small animal, lol.
Does your fursona look like you at all?
So this a boring, repetative answer.... but yeah, pretty much, lol.
We're the same height, weight, and body type... maybe I gots more boobage? XD We even have the same afro fluff. I would kill for her feets, tho.
Is your fursona the same gender as you, if not why?
We are both female, yes. Not incredibly feminine all the time, tho.
Might I add that I find non-matching fursonas and creators quite fascinating. It's a psychology-of-gender thing. o:

... Sorta. 6 months ago the answer was no. Specs/Mutt will always be my "true" fursona, but I've been slowly birthing another... or at least a second representative character. I plan to properly introduce her quite soon. :3
Do you have a back story for your fursona, if so does it have anything to do with your own history?
Specs doesn't really have a concrete story. She was fleshed out around the time I was in college hanging with my besties-for-life, along with anthro characters for my friends called the "Zoo Crew." (check this FA gallery for more of them) They were almost a webcomic, where their various art school adventures would have been the only real story.
There is some continuity with Specs, however... I guess only pertaining to how she lost her tail. It was more a metaphorical event for something I was going through at the time... it doesn't quite make sense if she were just a goofy college kid having adventures with friends, lol.
There may be some story/retcon soon... pertaining to my mystery new fursona. o:
Is your fursona mated, if so is it to your real life significant other?
Lol, Specs is single. But yes, my significant other would likely find themselves fuzzified to play along tho. :3
If not are they looking for a mate, or are they a swinger so to speak?
No, Specs... my FICTIONAL CHARACTER... is not particularly interested in persuing another fictional character, lol. (Why are we furs so insistant on that, anyway? It's the Roleplay potential, isn't it? >:I)
Is there something special about your fursona that you think sets them apart from others?
Dunno... her overall look, I guess. She has the look of a primate but seems to be some kinda cat thing with rather natural colors. Sparkledogs are cool and all... but excluding her grab-bag anatomy, she could at least have a chance as a realistic creature. Also, feets. *grabs stuff with them*
Do you have much art of your main fursona/s?
Besides what's in this gallery? lol. She tends to be what I doodle on notes and napkins, I guess. No doodle ideas? draw a Mutt. I really should draw more REAL arts of her, actually.

Would you ever consider parting with your main fursona, if so why?

Actually, I could understand wanting to change one's fursona... heck I'm sure most of us did it while young and discovering ourselves. But no, I couldn't really part with dat Mutt, a testament to how happy I am with her, lol. She's just like me afterall... she'd probably just grow and change like I do. (She already has. XD )

I don't suit, but I'd do a partial of her. I just have yet to go to a furry con where it'd be cool to do it... I cosplay elsewhere.
Have you ever roleplayed with your main fursona, or do you prefer not to?
The wrong kind of roleplay with Specs is... weird, I have learned. I guess because she's a direct reflection of me. She wouldn't do anything that I wouldn't... and things that make ME uncomfortable would come out in RP. I causually do it chat tho to reflect my own reactions. *fluffs at* >:I

General | Posted 12 years agoAn Update from Teh MuttStill around, for the few wondering. I am currently in the process (more like... TRIAL BY FIRE) of possible employment. That is a good thing... especially after fruitlessly searching for so long. But.
It's a little bit out of my field and I've been going through rather brutal testing to see if I can even hang. Being an illustrator/animator and trying to prove to a design firm that I can be "boring and corporate" (their words, lol) is... a lot of work to say the least. But I'm hoping the fact that I am being tested so hard means that I have potential?
Either way, must apologize about my outstanding commissions and how they're taking so long. Normally I make time to do plenty of everything each working day... but potential job does take priority... even if it DOES eat up so much of my art time without even being hired yet. x_x I really hope it pays off later.
Other Cool Stuff!All of ^ that is tied in with steady prep for AWA's Artist Alley. I'm mostly working on small, keychain-sized plush at that moment (pictures soon!) while working on a new larger plush shape. I also want to do prints again... but not sure what to go with yet. People only seem to want fanart at Anime/Geeky-centric cons. My themed furry prints were well-received... but not enough to sell many of them. XD So they may be returning as extra or discounted merchandise. Maybe I should Fuzzi-fy some popular characters. :O
You know. I was supposed to be doing a 30 Day Art Challenge. I made it two days before feeling too busy to get it done. >_< Maybe I'll bend the rules and pick it back up when I'm not as rushed.
But yeah... to anyone I owe art to or have been discussing it with, I will slowly but surely get to it when things begin to calm down!

General | Posted 12 years agoA THANK-YOU from Teh Mutt!Thanks so much to everyone who commissioned a chibi during my little commission drive! ;3; Between this gallery and dA, it was a pretty decent turnout. I never did fill all my slots during each of the two rounds... but admittedly I never thought of a fitting incentive, either. ; For those who were able to help out, I may think of a nice (if not small) token of my appreciation. :D
An Update from Teh Mutt!Otherwise, things are still going a bit slowly, progress-wise. I am steady hardcore jobhunting; and it's proving a challenge not to get a bit discouraged from all the rejections and the even more frustrating no-answers. =\ I still have small amounts of freelance work going on (Illustrating 2 books now!), but this feast-or-famine lifestyle does begin to wear on a person. While I could divert my energy to winning more freelance clients... stable income is nice. ;__;
Been doing a bit of crafting, I guess. I really should post of of that here. Today marks the FuzziMutt Creations etsy store's first birthday! I feel like I should have done something to celebrate. All the stuff I make can be seen more frequently at the FuzziMutt Creations facebook page tho. Yes, shameless plug for more fans. I'm trying to utilize my various tumblrs more efficiently... but I get bogged down with posting things in many other places. >_<

I'm quite happy and will be much better prepared this time around. You learn a lot from your first alley. XD I'm going to start looking into prints to supplement my plush stuff, even tho it did well. I realize I missed a chance for my ideal niche at Furry Weekend Atlanta instead since I plan to offer plush animals... but I wouldn't mind doing a few anime/geeky fanart type plush things just for AWA.
Oh and I may be doing some kinda 30 Day Art Challenge. Maybe. It's the 1st of the month and a good time to start something like that.

I have changed the whole... incentive thing. I went ahead and stepped up the chibis to FULL COLOR for the same price. And... will think of other ways I can sweeten the deal? I really don't know. I would appreciate anyone passing this on, however. =\

Commission Drive: Super Cute Chibis — Please take a look?

But hey. I could really use everyone's help.
I don't have an incredibly sad story to share at all... I've simply hit a financial bump. Freelancing is certainly not for the faint of heart and I am quite fortunate to have come this far with my own endeavours. But I am currently in a bit of a slow and/or dry spell with many of my projects. Where normally I'm fine for awhile after tax season, it will not be as kind to me this time year, ironically because of my freelancing, lol.
So I am opening some themed commissions to help generate some funds, even if just a little.
I present to you, "Fuzzi-fied" chibi caricatures.
They are drawn in the style and proportions of my FuzziMutt Creations critters and are so cute I think I my teeth rot while drawing them. XD I'm asking $15 each, or $25 for two characters [together]. If you are interested, you can find more info on the graphic submission itself. I will try to gather/link all info together as I finish uploading everything.
What I'd like to do is open 10 slots for these. If all the slots are filled within a week, I offer an "upgrade" incentive for everyone in the queue. So even if it's not something that quite tickles your fancy, there is encouragement to pass it on to anyone who might be interested. I'll keep the current queue (separate from my usual ongoing one) either here in this journal or somewhere it can be seen plainly.
I appreciate anyone who even takes a look; and will love you forever if you pass it on or commission a chibi. ;3;

I'm not really sure what you were expecting. =\ Drafting your custom plush is a lot of work and I'd like to be able to offer what you're looking for AND not go broke doing it. I'm sorry you didn't expect the quote I gave you, and a little disappointed in whoever's selling you custom plushes for super cheap, because undercutting's not cool either. I'm still pretty flexible in my plush pricing however and could have worked with you for something you like tho. Just sayin'.

XD They are cute, yes, but not all I wish to be known for. <_<;
I am also considering an Iron Artist if there is enough interest. o: I know I'm not one of those super-popular, in-demand artists, but I've definitely always wanted to try this. I may start preparing by doing a better price infographic or something... I realize the written journal I've been using isn't very user-friendly. ^^;;

I'll skip the attempt at claiming to do better updating this account... because I wont, haha. I will try. I know it is neglected, I do. But it's hard enough keeping up with the 80-bajillion places I post other things... whether my main dA gallery or my plush stuff or whatever. =\
My Etsy store had an okay holiday run and I am happy. I also made some adorable holiday gifts for family... at least with what time I had left. Otherwise... not too much going on. Many of my freelance projects are either finished or on hold, so it's back to job hunting. The one resolution-like thing I've claimed in serious is moving into my own place this year, so I forsee that work will probably take up most of my time. So this on top of my Etsy store and the new items I'd like to plan... may leave less time for art commissions. But I shall see.

New ones are currently on hold (closed, really) until I finish my outstanding queue. Some of these have been a very long time in the making, for which I apologize to those waiting. D: I am aiming to finish all of these this month. But I've discovered I'm really bad at trying to to predict a deadline with such an unpredictable schedule of... stuff and goings-on. No excuses, tho!! THIS MONTH. Hopefully I have spoken with all waiting parties directly by now, lol. Please note me if you haven't heard word.

I suppose I should mention... yes, it's been suggested from everyone that if I'm doing this for my own plushies, tush tag is the way to go to for various reasons. But there is something else I'm trying to discover here. XD

I've been a super busy Mutt these past... *looks at last journal* two months, lol. Avoiding my usual tl;dr wall of text, I will begin with what's been going on lately [link bomb alert!]:
♥ In April, I officially became an illustrator for a children's book. :D I will be illustrating the younger kids' version of "Taira the Termite Queen." (The work there is not mine, but my predecessor's.)
♥ This month I opened my Etsy Store, FuzziMutt Creations! It will feature fleece plush and cosplay items-- stay tuned as I stock up.
♥ I was also accepted into Anime Weekend Atlanta's Artist Alley! @__@ I will be selling my plush and art there in late September under FuzziMutt Creations!
♥ I've amassed a large queue of commissions over a little bit. @_@ This might lead to some changes, as art is my current source of income. I know when I'm too booked, but even with all the things I'm doing, I do have time if people are really interested. *cough*
So yeah. Wowies, lol.
♥ Got a really awesome cosplay/character planned... wanted to have it ready for a fantasy con in June, but I will miss it because of family tiems. ._. So maybe for Dragon*Con. Concept art will grace my gallery soon!
♥ STARTING A BUSINESS IS HARD, lol. I speak of both my freelancing and possibly my new crafting presence. I'm doing the research to go LLC with one and all the crazy tax things for both; it's certainly a learning process, lol.
♥ I am in the market for better arting things such as a Cintiq or maybe even a viable tablet PC. I was spoiled by SCAD and the few studios I've worked at with their Cintiq workspaces and definitely need better tools for my own freelancing. >_<
The consensus is that yes, Cintiqs are best/topnotch/etc; and frankly I agree, but who can ever find or afford one? :XD: I've also heard of its rising competitor, the XPC-1910A... and also that something like an Asus Eee Slate tablet PC can almost reach the same functionality... with a LOT of tinkering. It's cheaper, but you practically have to hack it to make it do awesome things and Asus won't help you if you do something funky.
Just sharing my research there, but if anyone has any news or insight on such things, it's most welcomed, lol.

Most of them art-related, which is the only reason this is relevant enough to post here. I'm almost done with my Daily Fashion Challenge entries and will post it all soon. But inbetween that came a crazy number of work-like things, commissions, random severe weather in my area, and HAY OOPS, THERE'S A CONVENTION COMING UP in less than 2 weeks that I was supposed to be doing things for.
[EDIT:] Sadly, it's not FWA... it's a smaller Con scheduled the SAME WEEKEND which I just noticed. ;_;My time-management skills leave much to be desired. :B
I'm working on that.

I need to get my better examples finished and displayed here on FA, but I'm hoping there might be interest enough for an Etsy shop or perhaps to sell at smaller cons. Uh. Yeah... big dreams there. Nothing to show for yet.
No, admittedly, I had been much more into my non-furry/fantasy art [for that alleged graphic novel I keep sorta mentioning] lately; but talk of this falls into the "Big Plans, No Proof" category. I started tumblrs for each project, though— that's how serious I am. XD Links will come when I tidy them up a bit.
Meanwhile, I need to visit more often. I'll try.

Upright-sitting animal plushie; approx. 8.5 inches (21.5 cm) in height. Made of soft fleece. PVC pellets in bottom for weight. Note: linked examples are species whose patterns exist and can be produced on-demand. Any requested species... drafting is involved.

Uh... I'm alive. I still do a lot more lurking than I do posting, it seems. Lately work was preventing me from arting at all, which was strange and unfamiliar to me; I've never NOT had time for my own art. D:
But now I am between gigs and have way too much free time; I'm sure some artsutffs will show up... whether here or in my other galleries I seem to purposely not speak of. XD
Funny enough; these days I've not felt very...... mutty. As in, not myself on a more literal level [/emo], but translated into my artwork-- I've been doodling alternate fursonas. O_o Kinda funny since I've been known as teh Mutt so long, haha, but I might dust off some the doodles and possibly run with them. Could be fun. Or maybe I could have a shape-shifting sparkle-mutt 'sona. XD (I'm sorry, I'm not making fun of anyone specific, but I've seen some crazy ones out there, lol.)

General | Posted 15 years agoUm. Hallo to the flood of new watchers so kind enough to grace me with their presence. XD Thanks all. I'm by no means new to FA, I just lurked forEVER. I'm not sure why. ^^; Sorry for the flood of old artings, lol.
I don't know how much of a furry artist I can call myself... I simply know that I do draw furry art a lot. And have a fursona. Uh. Yeah. lol.
I do have [non furry] galleries elsewhere, tho, and I'm not sure exactly how much I would add newer art to this one. Especially since my current artistic focus is a fantasy/modern-day setting webcomic. Sure it has a few anthros in the cast... but otherwise it's mostly hyoomans or humanoids. And honestly I never know how interested furry fans are in... well... non-furry art, lol.
So ionno. Some of it might show up here; but otherwise I'm not sure what to tell you to look forward to. XD
I might.......... maybe......... open commissions here. I'm always open for commishes elsewhere, so why not fuzzy ones too? X3 But give me a while... I don't wanna sound like the big-headed new girl with an entitlement complex or something.
