I'm gonna start going through the process of changing my furname here shortly. FuzzyTuff's nice, and it still makes a good screen name for things, but times change, and I think change'd be good for me, ya know? Being called "Fuzzy" all the time is too cute for me. I don't really wanna be so cute, ya know?

I've used the name Chalamari, or Chal for short, in a few different places at different times, and that name's callin' for me. Plus, it's got a nice connection into my high school days with my friends, so lots of good memories there.

So... what do you think of it?

For those who don't know, Frolic is a furry-themed club event that happens every second Saturday night of the month in a club at the corner of 9th and Harrison that goes from 9 pm until 2 am. It's normally $7 to get in, but if you have a costume of some sort or another, it's $3.

From Sacramento, it's a two hour drive to get there, which is kinda lame, but what can you do? I went with three of my friends. The venue itself is kinda small, but that's alright. It's not too bad to get around. Overall, I enjoyed myself there. The music wasn't bad (though the two different DJs that played had very different tastes in music, so you could tell when they switched..). One thing that was kinda cool and kinda weird at the same time was that they have a rave screen there that has complex visualizations going on. On the plus side, it was cool to watch, but on the downside, it was distracting when trying to dance because I wanted to just watch it.

It sounds like my entire group gave it more of a positive rating (or at least just on the positive side), so it seems that we'll be going again.

So I've been slowly crafting a constructed language. I don't know why, I don't exactly know how, but it's been happening. Recently, I learned that there's actually conventions for things like this. A bit creepy, a bunch of people running around speaking nonsense, but it makes me feel a little less isolated and nerdy, but instead just promotes the nerdy part.

The major downside is that it feels like a wasted effort. Yeah, it was fun making it and whatever, but there are no applications, ya know? When you create a game, you can play it with other people, or if you write a book, you can share it with others. I have this thing that's literally unintelligible to everyone. I don't want to stay I wasted my time and creativity, but...

At least I'm not one of those people that will let a phrase slip out in Klingon or something...

Yeah.... it's not. It's bad news, too. Well, for me. Not for everyone else. Anyway, recently, I've been having a lot of headaches. It really sucks. They tend to be in the front of my head, so it's most likely allergies making my sinuses go nuts. But goddamn it sucks. And, lucky me, I have an essay to finish today for turning in tomorrow. Ugh! I have the best luck.

In other news, I'm part of the GSA on campus (called QSA for Queer-Straight Alliance at my school), and we're doing a Day of Silence thing tomorrow. If you don't know what that is, though I assume most of you do, it's a day to honor those in the gay community who can't come out for whatever reason by taking a vow of silence for the day. I for one don't believe in this event. Why, you might ask. Well, I think that one day of martyrdom won't make it any easier for those who can't come out to come out. I don't know what else can be done for those who can't be out, but being silent for a day doesn't seem to help either. So, what I usually do when this day rolls around is just steer clear of my friends who would care if I started talking.

[pissy rant] And last thing that kinda pissed me off. It's one of those things that I really shouldn't get bent out of shape about, but it's something that really just irked me. A week ago, one o my fellow QSA members asked me what orientation I am. I don't like being confronted about this, or really any other matter that isn't their business. I said I won't tell her to keep the 'mystery alive' or to 'preserve the magic'. I just wanted her to shut up without compromising my privacy. Long story short, I wouldn't tell her, so she goes over my head and asks another friend of mine who wasn't physically there to see how frustrated I was getting. I got angry. Yay, computer is up and running and is going fine. It feels good to be able to do all the stuff I could before on my laptop. The next step is to download SecondLife at Lux's request, and then to somehow pull all the data out of my My Documents folder on my laptop and put it on here. Those can all happen another day, though.

Small side note, watch The Signal. Do it now. It's good. I take a moment to do a plug for it because I have it on now, and I'm reminded how much I like it.

Okay, so thanks to Lux's help, well, due entirely to Lux's help, I have an up and running computer. There are only two things that need to be fixed up before it's all ready and raring to go: A better graphics card, and a sound card. Once those two things are in place, I'll be back in action. Oh, I can't wait.

On a small side note, my new anti-virus makes me sad. It -requires- a screen size to run, one on which my current graphics card is unable to do. Woe is me =/ But a new one is coming in the mail, so yay.

So... my laptop charge accepter-port-thing is hosed... So, for now, I'm confined to using the internet on my Wii until the desktop my wonderful skunky friend Lux is helping me with is complete. It could be worse... So I'm just thankful it's not. That's all for now...
