Heyas. Just a little update on my computer situation. I'm back up and running for the most part. Got a Jetway Motherboard that supports the old DDR RAM I have as well as AGP (Which I have) or PCI Vid Card. Has a Celeron Proc, though... That's not too great... And keeps freezing when I'm watching Vids though not when playing games or anything. Really weird. So... Yeah. I'm back up and running for the most part.

Status of Computer: Dead. Motherboard and Power Supply fried. Other components of system appear to be in working order... The hard drives I know are working thanks to a friend... Yeah... This sucks. @_@

Heh... My Computer is out of date... AMD Athlon 2Ghz Barton Core Proc, Asus Socket A Mobo, 200GB of IDE HD Space spread over 3 drives... And a Radeon 9550 256mb 8x AGP Video Card... Dated. Very...

So... I get a SoundBlaster Audigy SE, thinking I'll upgrade a little bit... And what happens? The new sound card fries 2 of my PCI slots over the course of 2 days. -.- At a time when I can not afford to replace the Mobo or Proc. -.- Lovely...

Got the old beast working again, obviously, albeit down by two expansion slots and back to the old as the hills SB Live Value OEM card that I've had for years... And hoping beyond hope that it's JUST the PCI slots that got fried and that there's no other damage to the mobo. @_@

Woot! I managed to get a better job than the one I was talking about in my last journal! Yes... Yes... I was only at this last job for two weeks but I worked for the company before and seriously didn't want to put myself through all that drama again. Starting Monday I will be doing technical support for a DIFFERENT company, and not an outsourcer this time. I'll be working with PDA Installed Tracking and Audit software. A friend helped me get hired when he got promoted. I'm really looking forward to it. It's a much smaller group, much more personal, and MUCH less drama. Not to mention I'll be getting paid more. >.> So... Yay!

Well... Two major bites on job stuff, today... I got offered two positions... One was a 6 week contract doing Helpdesk for a major Pacific NW Department Store Chain. The other was a Technical Support position for one of the major outsource support providers in the US that is a permanent direct hire position...

I took the permanent one, of course! ^_^ I start work again Monday. The schedule is kinda funky during training -- 3pm to 11pm (or something close to that)... And have to do schedule bidding at the END of training... But... *shrugs* It's a chance at stable work again and the place is only about half a mile from where I live, so... It'll be good to work again.

UPDATE: It looks like I should also be getting my back unemployment for the past 3, almost 4, weeks here shortly as the Unemployment Insurance Department agreed that the Sign-in/Sign-out policy at my LAST place of employment provided no means of PROOF of tardiness!

Still on the job hunt. Finally got some nibbles this week, though. A couple to Tech Job Recruiting agencies are trying to find me work, now. Also re-activated with the temp agency I worked for when I first moved up to the PDX Metro Area. AND I'm still getting referrals from the employment department... Though... I'd like to know how a "Ambassadors/Event Staff" position that is effectively Event Security falls under the Computer Technical Support Analyst and Customer Service skill set. O.o;; Riddle me that?

Well... Seems I lost that really great job... Because the security and time-in policy at the workplace needs improvement... *sigh* Got a call this morning from the Temp Agency saying that I was no longer employed by the client... Talked to my supe directly when I went in to pick up my stuff... Thursday myself and one other temp got an offhand comment that "Work Starts at 9"... So... Friday and Saturday I made sure that I didn't get in even 1 minute late... Apparently he was informed by other supes that I was late by 15+ minutes on Friday, though... So... No more job... I asked him, and the temp agency, to see if it would be possible to get 1 more week to prove that I can be on time to work every day... Both said they'll see what they can do... I'm hoping, but not holding my breath. If I don't hear anything back today... I'll start job-hunting tomorrow again...

Even more good news on the job front! I started working again on Monday, June 17th! Yay! The work is through a temp agency, but it is a temp to hire position and it pays $11.50/hr to start, as a temp! ^_^;; Can't beat that. ^_^

I had my Interview on 21-May-2007... And Aced it! I got offered a job! On 22-May-2007 I go in to do the final paperwork, get the final background check done, and get my orientation out of the way! Woohoo! ^_^

I have an interview today (21-MAY-2007) for a new job. Wish Me Luck!

This is just a little something to let those of you who watch me know that there is a weekly furry dance event held on SecondLife. It is hosted my Me, Elyssa Tokugawa, in Club Fishbone. Club Fishbone is part of BareRose and is on the BlackCat SIM.

Every week we have a different theme for Best Of with a winner for Male and a winner for Female in-theme. The prize is typically L$500 though depending on how many people show up, sometimes the prizes go up, too, and you never know when Miss June might give me some extra little bit of exclusive clothing to toss out to the attendees.

Our DJ is Sabvriel Padar and he plays quite the lovely mix, from J-Pop to Techno, Trance to Hardcore, he's definately the DJ to listen to and you definately don't wanna miss his occassional rants. ^_^

The event, Furtual Reality, runs from 5:00pm SLT to 7pm SLT every Sunday. ^_^;;

In any case, though... I'd be glad to see lots more furry faces about. Who knows... If we get enough, maybe we can get a Furry-Centric BareRose Store focussing on Furry Needs in clothes. Thanks, everyone! ^_^

I'm still up and about. Sorry for lack of posting new stuff or revamped old stuff - RL has kept me rather busy. The company I was working at folded and transitioned most of its employees (including me) to its sister company... Not Fun. I've been having problems with my Van... Not fun. And been having various other problems just keeping me very busy. I will eventually get stuff posted, though. Well... Lovely. I just got enough tenure at my job that I qualify for insurance... And what happens? They transfer me and 9 other poor saps over to the other company owned by the same guy as the one I work at presently. This resets our tenure. Supposedly we will be getting raises - I'm not holding my breath, especially since this transition means that I'll be short hours anyhow.

Still going to try to get some writing done and posted. I'll try for HTML or something that FA will actually show instead of DOC files that have to be downloaded. We'll see. Then maybe I can actually get some critiques to help spur me into writing again... Finishing something I've written, at least...

Hmmm... First journal for me... What should it be... Hmmm... I know!

For those of you who play SecondLife, you'll understand this! Especially if you are a content creator like myself and many others out there. Recently a malicious tool called 'CopyBot' was discovered that was set loose on SL. What this does is copies content that you don't own and don't have In-Game Character Permissions to copy, creating a security loophole AND a major loss for content creators whose work is being stolen... So what happens? Well... Linden Labs, the creators and owners of SecondLife, post this http://blog.secondlife.com/2006/11/.....tos-violation/ to their official blog.

Now... I'm not attacking them over what they did in that post... They were covering their legal asses... But dayum!!! Couldn't they have at least done some kind of fix before posting that and sending the shear volume of abuse of CopyBot through the roof? Almost 200 In-Game stores have now closed. Several SIMS (Privately Owned In-Game Land) have closed and been taken offline. They shot themselves in the foot while covering their asses. *sighs*

I'm just hoping that Bare Rose doesn't suffer much from this... We're doing what we can in game to protect our content... But who knows.
