Posted 11 years agoSo I have decided I need a fresh start. SO I am going to be moving accounts to 
GaleSmilax
Reasons for the move:
1. More accurate name: Gale Smilax is my fursona's name.
2. Name not typod: this makes it easier to give people my FA as well as find me based on my badge
3. Inactive watchers: I have a bunch of watchers that dont look at my art at all. Follow me on the new account if you want to keep getting new art.
4. I am watching too many people: I will be watching some of my favorite artists again on the new one but some may not get re-watched since I dont usually look at their art.
5. Consistency. This means I am doing the same thing to my Sofurry and Inkbunny accounts.
6. Cause I feel like it!
I will still be reachable here for a couple more weeks. I will contact any commissioners i still have doing art for me and inform them of the change as well.

the new coder? Well he has a history of sabotaging sites he works on.
he wiped entire game servers cause he "didnt like the way people were talking to him" and there is nothing stopping him from doing it to FA due to the negative responses he is already getting.
He has blocked every user who has said anything against him.
He posted the entirety of F-List's site code online and removed all of the bans on the site as well as giving all members administrator access just to get back at the staff. That mess took F-list 5 days to fix.
This man is a criminal. Not a trusted coder.
I SUGGEST YOU IMMEDIATELY BACK UP YOUR FA GALLERY. He might just delete everything for some stupid reason. He is emotionally unstable and extremely unprofessional. This is the type of person FA is trusting with full access to site code!

A reminder of why i fursuit
Posted 11 years agoSo I went to the Louisiana Renaissance Festival in Hammond, LA this weekend. I really had a blast. I brought my gale suit along went as a dragon.
The reactions on people's faces were priceless. As you know, the suit is patchwork, took me a long time and a lot of effort to build but a lot of mistakes were made (something I plan on improving greatly on my bird suit). Sometimes I wonder why I didnt give up building or or stop wearing it due to my own insecurities on how it looks. Below is why.
The people I interacted with today were simply stunned. I got so many compliments. People took so many pictures with me. The kids all wanted to "Slay" me. It was so amazing to see their faces light up. I realized that I put that effort in and I wear the suit to make people smile. To entertain and make someone's day better. I live for the opportunity to do something good for people. I am not wealthy or powerful or some sort of genius. BUT what I can do is entertain. I can take pictures. give hugs, and yes even be stabbed by a plastic sword for the amusement of a 5 year old. The looks on their faces were worth the heat, limited vision, sore feet, and the dirt I now have to clean off the suit. Their reactions and smiles and the memories I know they will have are worth the time and effort I put into making the suit and learning to perform in it (which I am still learning to do).
THAT is why I fursuit.

Posted 11 years agoI dont like some of the ways FA is run. That is true. BUT accusing people of something wtihout concrete evidence (only circumstantial evidence) to back it up is 1. completely rude and 2. illegal (they call it slander and yes it is a law)
I personally think dragoneer reacted to this situation the best he could have given the circumstances. His primary goal was to get the site back up, which involved communicating with the data-center, which he did. The data-center was slow but that isn't dragoneer's fault.
Dragoneer was ALSO available to answer questions and talk to people during the outage. That was very considerate of him considering he has a job other than FA.
someone hates furries. Someone DDOS'd ALL of the furry sites not just FA. So where is the motive? to get donations? Kinda a weak conclusion. why nuke your own site when people would be less willing to donate because the site has a reputation for constantly being down anyway! And then have the nerve to ask for money? I think not.
No the donations were not supposed to open until after project phoenix was released. BUT this attack DID cost FA money most likely. They likely had to pay their datacenter a fee for disrupting their systems and other customers. They had to pay a re-connect fee after being blackholed I guarantee. AND they are looking into more expensive but more secure hosting solutions as well as an extended DDoS protection plan which isnt cheap. AND NO CLOUDFLARE IS NOT AN ALL-ENCOMPASSING SOLUTION. Weasyl used cloudflare and went down just the same.
So stop bullshitting and finger pointing and help someone for once. seriously. This "dragoneer caused the DDoS" bullshit is just that...BULLSHIT. And it was probably a rumor started by the group that actually DID cause it in order to attack him directly after their attack was eventually neutralized.

MFM is over. FWA next
Posted 11 years agoSo MFM was awesome. Unfortunately college drains most of my time and money. That means I pretty much only get 1 or 2 cons a year. This year is no exception. I only got to go to MFM.
BUT Next year FWA and MFM are on my list. Possibly even RCFM. :)
I know it is way early but I will keep you updated on my con plans. FWA depends on time, since It is not during my spring break.

MFM 2014 PHOTOS!

Posted 11 years agoMFM was awesome as always. I will be back again, hopefully with more people. We may need to rent a BUS next year lol.
I got to see some friends from last year, as well as meet some new ones. I love MFM for its social aspect. You can just jump into conversations and talk for hours with people.
Everyone was very nice. Even the chicken. (if you went, you know who I am talking about)
It was also the first con I got to fursuit at! I had only been in my suit around people 2 times before that (at my university, practicing walking around in it) and I must say I didnt have any problems. I only almost fell once. People were so polite and the experience was definitely one I want to keep doing. I plan on making a much more floofy fun suit with my bird character Nate Frost for next year. (burd is the word)

fursuiting in MS (my first time+responses)
Posted 11 years agoso I finally finished the suit I was building. I decided that I wanted to get a little practice walking around so I took it onto campus (Mississippi State University) and walked around the Student Union. I was not sure what kind of reaction I was going to get. Here is a synopsis of my experience.
so to avoid having to carry the suit into the union and put it on in the bathroom, I suited up in the parking lot. This was at night but it is August in MS, so it was still quite warm out. Luckily the parking lot was close.
I only spent about 45 minutes in suit. I feel like I could have gone longer, especially if I had not had to suit up outside. BUT, it was enough to get a sort of "feel" for the suit. I also managed NOT to fall down the stairs in the union. That was a plus.
The reactions were varied but I didnt have too many negative reactions. I did scare 2 sorority girls though. I felt so bad. :P But the rest of the people were cool. Some people walked up and asked about the suit, why I was wearing it etc. Told me "wrong mascot" :P to which I replied that they would sue me if I did a bulldog, and dragons are cooler anyway.
Several people asked for pictures of or with me. I derped up so many selfies. I also met another person who actually knew what a fursuit was because she happened to know a furry that I didnt know. :) I was really expecting a lot more negative reactions due to the fact that we are in MS. I guess the people who had negative things to say probably kept it to themselves. I was glad that I could be entertaining to at least some of the people. Several people were surprised that I built the suit. I even had one girl give me a hug! :) First fursuit hug and I totally failed. i bumped my snout against her forehead by accident.
