ART UPLOADS
Posted 3 years agoI'm gonna FINALLY start getting around to uploading various arts I've commissioned over the years. It's been waaaaay too long.
2022 Update!
Posted 4 years agoHey everyone!
We're about 3 weeks into 2022, how are we feeling about this year? Better? Worse? Too early to tell?
Too early to tell.
SO! Here are some updates about how things are going overall for me and animations!
HEALTH
Holy shit. the debacle with figuring out how much I owe to the hospital and other places is finally, finally over. thanks to Resolve, the costs were cut down by a significant amount, and I'm able to start putting money back to pay off the now smaller amount that I owe. It's down to about 4K-ish, and thankfully, I do still make enough with my main job to pay that off over the next several months.
ANIMATIONS
You may have noticed a bit of a slowdown with animation work over the past several months. I have been very stressed with that medical nonsense, and it has affected my workflow. I'm also trying to get back into some sort of better shape by doing daily walks and exercise, which does cut into what was purely animation focused mornings and the like. But, my Trello ( https://trello.com/b/33KTbAcj/animations ) is still being kept up to date, and I am still taking commissions ( https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/9543695 ). The current price feels here to stay for the time being. you can also keep up to date with WIPs and little teasers of animations on my animation twitter account! ( https://twitter.com/GamerooArts )
OTHER PROJECTS?
I'm gonna try to remake my fursuit before TFF!
...Oh my goodness that's like 2 months away.
CONS?
I do want to hit up TFF, that's local for me and I'd love to be there! I don't have a booth or anything (Animations aren't quite as feasible as other artists doing sketches and the like, and like.. I can't hand out a paper that has characters moving on it.), but if you see me, feel free to say hi! I'll likely be all over the place.
I haven't thought of what other cons I should try to get to just yet. Any suggestions on 2022 cons that would be reasonable?

AUGUST UPDATE | health, prices, trello
Posted 4 years agoI'm back from my vacation! Also a spontaneous hospital visit that was entirely out of the blue and nearly ruined my chance to go on this vacation.
HEALTH
I want to start by saying I'm doing well right now. before my trip, like, the morning I was going to get on the flight, I had severe abdominal pain. Went to the ER, and I found out I needed to have my gallbladder removed. So, I spent Saturday night in the hospital, Sunday afternoon it was removed, and Monday afternoon I went home. Tuesday I went on my flight for my vacation.
I'm doing well currently, just have a few small scars that should heal up nicely over time. However, the now worst part about this whole debacle is the cost.
I do work as a contractor, who has me contracted out to another company. The contracting company provides insurance, but, come to find out, it's not good. like, none of my hospital visit is covered not good. I'm lucky in that I can apply for charity care, (turned in my application as soon as I possibly could), but until I get a determination from them, I have to act as if I'm liable for the full amount of the hospital stay. I don't want to list a number right now, because I'm not ready to try to accept financial help, but, suffice it to say, it's in the 5 digit range.
PRICES
you may have seen it in my Animation Commission Pricing journal, but prices are now starting at $100/full body character. This is to reflect the amount of time and work I put into these pieces.
TRELLO
I am now going to keep track of my animation progress on trello! It's a bit easier to update on the fly compared to editing my profile, hahah.
TRELLO QUEUE
There are currently 11 (!!!) pieces in queue. I'm going to be updating how I handle payments and things, but suffice it to say, I'm not going to be accepting tons of payment for commissions way before I'll be able to work on them. I don't feel right about that. So if you see a big queue, please don't worry. Active queue are ones I'm working on, the waitlist are people who have reached out to me in one form or another.

A note on [RESERVED] Slots
Posted 4 years agoHi there! You may have noticed that there are now some [RESERVED] slots listed in my queue on my main page. I have these in place because I'm going on a trip to visit my family in around a month or so, and given that I can average an animation a week, I didn't want to put anyone in queue (as in, having paid a minimum of half), and then be unable to work on the piece for around 2-3 weeks. The reason they are Reserved, however, is that I'm still open to looking at pieces that you would like to have animated! I will be able to put you into a waitlist instead.
If I find myself with the time to animate before my trip, and I've gone through my current queue, then I will reach out, in order, to those in the waitlist queue, one at a time. That way there is the lowest possibility of me going on a trip with an unfinished animation sitting in the queue.
Also! I'm experimenting with using Trello now! Check it out here!
Looking forward to animating more, and if you're interested in a commission, I'm looking forward to hearing from ya!

Posted 4 years agoHeya! I've been considering opening up a patreon account. I've got a few things in mind that I've been considering, and I'm curious if any of these sound like appealing options to you all.
* Receiving the rendered .mp4 and .webm files, straight from me, every month for finished animations
* Commission discounts
* Simple tutorials / Animation dives
* 1 on 1 lessons / hands on training streams
I'm really curious to hear some feedback, please feel free to reply! If you have any ideas on what you may want to see, please tell me as well!

Need your opinion!
Posted 4 years agoHeya! I need your opinion on some animation options I'm considering!
ZOOMS AND PANS
So that most recent piece, Which you can see here was fun to do and all, but I couldn't help but be curious. The preview I posed, that was a paw rigging test got much more attention than even the full animation. Made me wonder if I should try something different with how I present the animations in general.
So, thinking about how some other animations have been presented, I created a second version of the animation, with zooms and camera pans. (It's a little too long to post on FA.)
So I'm wondering if this is something that I should offer on all future animations. I would say this would bump the price up by $15, but it would be entirely optional.
SOUND
At the end of last year, I was commissioned to animate This piece, and as an added bonus, the commissioner provided some sound effects that I could use to add to the animation itself. I quite liked the final effect of having sound added. I'm considering adding sounds as an option. However, looking for the exact sound online, or buying sound effects, fiddling with sound licenses, is frustrating and not worth the cost. I can get a decent sound recorder, create my own sounds, and use them in animations, though - I have a decent understanding of that process.
I would consider this another $10-$20 add-on, depending on the complexity of the sounds themselves.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
So, I'd like to know what you think. Should I start offering these as options? Do you think the pricing is fair? Any additional options you'd like to see offered for animations? I'm all ears! ...or at least mostly ears. Have you seen how big they are?

2021 Updates!
Posted 5 years agoWoah, it's 2021? Is it really? Did we get through 2020? I'm not so sure.
But in any case, hello to everyone! I figure it's time for a big overall update to what's going on for the roo!
Firstly - Uploads. My work is primarily based off of pieces that are being given to me to animate, so my uploading rate is highly dependent on how often I'm commissioned. I may not post for a while, but rest assured, I am still here. Waiting. Watching. Lurking in the shadows.
Secondly, - Uploads pt 2. Flash is dead. It's out. There's no more .swf uploads on FA. There isn't yet video upload and support, so here's how things are going on this front.
- No more .swf files are being offered with commissions.
- Animation uploads to FA will be .gif for the time being
- Best quality uploads will be on Twitter/redgifs/gfycat.
Thirdly - Animation Twitter. I have an account on twitter for my animation work! That will be the best way to see what's going on in the world of roo, (animation wise). Please follow to see behind the scenes animation work, and the latest full animation uploads!
Fourthly - Upcoming Price Increase. I put a lot of work into these animations. To justify the amount of work that goes into them, there will be a price increase, starting on 3/1/2021, to $65/character base price. There is still wiggle room for both up (Multiple loops on your animation), and down, (if, say you want just a bust animated). But this increase will keep me motivated to put out more animations for you all!
Thank you all for following here and on Twitter, I look forward to doing more animations, and I look forward to making this year better than the last!

FAQ
How long will this take?
I can work fairly quickly, but to account for the unknown, I give a 2 week time frame from commission start, to finish.
For multi-loop animations with transitions between them, this can be around a month to two months. These are significantly more involved.
How does payment work?
I go with a system of half payment up front, and then half on completion. Specifically, when the first half is sent, you are added to the queue. Once the animation is complete, then the second half should be sent, and I will send you a .zip with the finished commission.
Why do you need artist permission?
I prefer to know that the original artist allows edits to be done to their work. Some are very protective of what they've done, and rightfully so. I don't want to step on any toes.
What if I can't reach the original artist?
If you are unable to get an answer, I can still go ahead with creating the animation. However, if I am asked to take down the animation, I will 100% comply. The responsibility falls on you, the commissioner, to get artist approval - I'm just offering my services.
What's with the split queue?
My queue is split into two: Single, and Multi Loop animations. With the significant difference in time needed for these, I felt it would be better to organize them separately. I can work on single-loop animations while also making progress on Multi-loop animations.

Upcoming Animation Pricing Adjustment!
Posted 6 years agoAs a heads up, I'm going to need to do some adjustment on the price of multi-character and multi-loop animations. The amount of work that goes into them is not equal to the amount that's being charged, so I'm going to figure out what's going to be better, going forward.
Price Increase in November
Posted 7 years agoHey guys!
I'm planning on raising my prices at the start of November. The price per character will increase from $35-$55, to $40-$60. However, there will also be understanding exceptions for avatars or bust pieces, and I'll be able to work with anyone on those on a case by case basis. ^^

1. Post a comment to this journal with the artwork you would like animated.
a. The artwork should be a single character piece. NSFW and SFW pieces are allowed.
b. Please make sure you have permission to use the piece you want to have animated (moreso if it's not a piece you drew or had commissioned for yourself.)
2. If the piece in question is usable (not too complicated with a bunch of limbs or complicated shading and gradients), I will give you a number.
3. If your number is drawn, then congrats, you win! You will be getting a note from me on that Friday.
?. You don't have to watch but that would be awesome.
If you've already won, you won't be able to win the following draw. The draw after that, though, you're back in the running!
After a winner is picked, that weekend (Saturday) at 11AM CST I will stream the winner's piece being animated. Pretty cool, huh? You can catch the stream here: https://picarto.tv/Gameroo

Open for A Collab Animation with Phinja! Bidding Link Here!
Posted 8 years agoHey guys!
phinja and I are collaborating on animations that have X-RAY interactivity! You've seen one like that you say? But have you seen one where the character moves, and you can still see through? Like this?
These take a fair amount of work, so we're going to only open for one slot at a time. We're also opening it for bidding instead of a flat price, so you'll really want to jump on this as soon as you can! The bidding will run until noon PST on this coming Monday (7/17). Starting bid is at $150, and the Autobuy is for $300. If you get the slot, you'll get this:
* Single character, high detail, full background, high resolution image | X-ray and non X-ray versions
* Flash animation with X-Ray elements
* Animated gifs of non X-ray/X-ray animations
* Animation icon
Please Bid Here!

Need X-ray Animation Volunteer ($15 Discount/character!)
Posted 8 years agoHey guys! I learned how to do some x-ray stuff in flash and I /really/ want to put it to use in an animation. Only problem is, I don't have any pieces of my own that fit the bill. D'aww...
But maybe you do!
I'm looking for a piece that has a hidden element to it. Perhaps the character is pawing or getting attention under a desk, or table, maybe they're hard behind a wall, maybe they're keeping busy under a blanket in the back seat of a car. Even internal shots would work for this! The thing is, for this animation, I'm going to need you to provide two versions of the piece, one where the action is hidden, and one where it's exposed.
I'm going to offer $15 off per character to the first person who can commission this. That means that even the most expensive two character piece (which no one has had to pay, btw) would be $80 instead of $110! A single character piece won't be more than $40! There will even be two gif versions - fully exposed and hidden.
I want to work on this so badly! I'm just imagining it looking so freaking cool in the end!
