Dust: An Elysian Tail Coming to Steam May 24th
General | Posted 12 years agoThose of you waiting to play Dust: An Elysian Tail since its release on XBLA don't have to wait much longer. The XBLA hit is coming to Steam on Windows May 24th, 2013. That's Friday! Dean Dodrill, affectionately referred to as "Noogy", announced the news with a tweet on his official account.
I gave the game a perfect score when it was released on XBLA. We'll surely have another review for the Steam version to let you know how it plays on the PC. However, if you're a furry and a fan of metroidvania-esque titles, you will not regret playing through this one.

Dust: An Elysian Tail Steam Release Nears
General | Posted 12 years agoIn a Facebook post on Dust's Official Facebook page today, Dean Dodrill, the owner of Humble Hearts, detailed his progress on the Steam release:
"Not very nice of me to announce the Steam version of the game and leave everyone hanging, huh? Hopefully this update helps.
Right now the game is content complete, and I'm in the final stages of testing. While I don't have a launch date yet, I'm doing EVERYTHING in my power to have the game available sometime in May.
The game looks lovely at 1080p, and I'm actually really enjoying the mouse/keyboard controls with the revamped UI. Of course gamepad controls are in as well. The wait is nearly over, thank you for your patience!"
So, the game -may- be coming out in May, and the game now has confirmed 1080p and gamepad controls. In the comments for the story, Dean also discusses that he just started looking into pre-order/promo items, and we'll keep you updated on that. Also, he said that he's "talking to people" about fidget dolls.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf 3DS XL Limited Edition Listed
General | Posted 12 years agoEarlier this morning, a PAL version of the limited edition Animal Crossing: New Leaf 3DS XL bundle that had previously been released in Japan, was spotted available for pre-order on the UK shop ShopTo. Since then, it has been removed, predictably because it has not even yet been announced for a European or North American release.
ShopTo had listed the bundle at £189.85 and with a release date of June 14th, the same day New Leaf is dropping.
The bundle also included a copy of Animal Crossing: New Leaf as a pre-installed digital download.
In what can't just be a coincidence, the listing comes just a day before a new 3DS-focused Nintendo Direct conference. We'll keep you updated on whether they announce this bundle then, and if it will be arriving in the States.

Next Xbox NOT “always online,” new 360 SKU adds BC
General | Posted 12 years agoNews reports today cleared up a few rumors that had been spreading recently:
While the next xbox, codenamed "Durango" will have always-online functionality, it will not prevent the use of second hand games nor bar people from playing local content when they are without Internet.
Furthermore, a smaller, more stripped down 360 will be arriving on shelves for around $149 or less. This sku will act more like a set-top media box with Xbox 360 and XBLA game support and it may not have disc drive.
“Putting in an Xbox 360 disc into Durango will prompt the user to attach the supporting device that is sold separately. By separating the two devices and their functions it will ensure price competitiveness for both pieces of hardware,” says the report.
This means all content will need to be downloaded digitally. Should it be connected with Durango, users can use their disc-based Xbox 360 games on their Durango console with the small add-on Xbox.

Why I Created Gaming Furever and Where We're Going
General | Posted 12 years agoI realized that I haven't really sat down and introduced myself to everyone and let you all know why I created Gaming Furever, and what I hope it is, and what I want it to be. At the end of this journal, there is a link where you can also let me know what GF has been to you, and/or what you would like it to be in the future.
Back in mid-2010, a few months after I discovered the furry fandom, I realized that there wasn't really a central place for furry gamers to convene or find news about games with a furry focus on influence. Being a newly-discovered fur myself, I decided to make it happen myself, since I loved my new friends and wanted to fill a need that I thought would help many in the future.
I spent the next year, during my 3rd year in college, to craft and fill GamingFurever.com with a furry game database, a customized framework, and a welcoming feel. In June 2011, I finally released it to the public. Since then, almost 2 years later, we've gained a member-base of over 1500, held interviews with a few game developers, helped promote furry games, and tried to create a welcoming and warm community. We do this with very little advertising money or donations. So far, we've probably gotten about $200 worth of donations/advertising dollars. (Note that it costs more than $200 to run a site for two years with all the stuff we have on it, heh.) So this really is my attempt at giving something back to the community that gives me such joy. I try not to ask for donations constantly, or to pressure people into writing for the site. Everyone on staff works for free and writes just because they love gaming. Everything is voluntary.
What do I hope Gaming Furever is, and can be in the future? I want it to be a haven for furry gamers, and lovers of games of all types. People can come to discover a new game to play in the database of furry games, or find someone to play with. Recently, we've been trying to push a more content-focused approach, bringing in review writers and weekly editorials. I want to continue this drive and see even more talent on display. Perhaps a focus on not just furry game news. People love talking about games of all types, and I see nothing wrong with helping this along if you guys and gals don't. With GF TV, I want to create a place where people can come to catch a nightly stream with quality hosts that make you laugh, with a variety of gameplay, along with a couple of weekly podcast shows. I recently redesigned the site, and will be looking for feedback on what you want to see changed, now that it's been out for a few months. I would love to see a renewed focus on more genres, and I will be reaching out for new writers and community ambassadors to help boost this.
I'd like to conclude with some personal thoughts and notes. Firstly, thanks to everyone who has joined, posted, commented, uploaded, or anything else on the site. There is talent all over the furry gaming community; writers, hilarious streamers, opinionated die-hards, and impressive artists...and I thank each and every one of you for deciding to commit any amount of your time to helping our site. The main reason I created Gaming Furever was because there is nothing I love more than seeing people have a good time, and it makes me feel good knowing that I could help in any little way with making great experiences happen. It's not for personal gain or fame. I could care less if people knew me. I hope, more than anything, they remember the insight, friends, and happiness they found from using the site.
I try to juggle this site, a college life, a relationship, a job, and my own social life, all while putting my best foot forward in all of them. Sometimes I fail at parts of these. I want GF to be all that it can be, and to do everything I can to help writers, game creators, and members to have an outlet for their writing, games, and opinions. If there is anything that you think we, and I, could be doing better for the site, I truly hope you'll let me know on the survey.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you all continue to enjoy GF. :3

Gaming Furever - Site Redesign - Opportunities for you!
General | Posted 13 years agoHey GF users!
We're going to be issuing a brand new redesign of the site, complete with new features, a more bright layout, and focus on content/streaming.
During this process, we're asking for a few things from users who want to contribute and be part of the new site's design! Here are the things we're asking for:
*Site Banners
*Furry gaming art to put around the site
*Advertisements
*Mascot ideas
-Site banners: 800px x 175px image that features the "Gaming Furever" name. This is similar to the banner FurAffinity interchanges each month. We're looking for a few quality ones to put in the site rotation, and you would receive a free month of advertising for being chosen.
-Furry Gaming Art: Commissioned an art piece that has your fursona and/or friends playing games or modeled in a gaming setting? We'd love to feature it on our site! Get permission from the artist and send us a link.
-Advertisements: We're selling preliminary advertising spots at a discount to fund the site redesign. Features don't come cheap, heh, and we want to do all we can for you guys and gals. Right now, you can get 2 months of banner advertising on GF for $10. That's a steal compared to FA's $20 per month rate, and it is targeted advertising.
-Mascot ideas: The orange and blue fox will continue to be one of our mascots, but we're looking for a second, more gaming themed one. If you can design one, you'll be forever able to say that you designed it, and your name will be engraved on the "About" section of the site. Focus on techy, glowy colors. Think "Tron" but not Tron, because copyright. ;D
If you are interested in ANY of these things, send us an email here: GamingFurever[at]gmail.com
We will respond to every email within 48 hours. There is also an article on Gaming Furever with all of these details.
The expected launch of the site redesign is February 2013! Follow our Twitter page for updates!

General | Posted 13 years agoHello all you summoners out there! A lot of you have signed up for the tournament, and registration has closed. If you have a full team, you can still get in, but we'll be cutting it off at a certain point. Also, for those that were asking, yes it is NA servers only.
For those that have signed up, we're going through and pairing those up that haven't formed a full team, and filling out the bracket. We'll have more information soon, but please bear with us since this is our first official tournament and we had over 70 of you sign up!
Keep an eye on this group and gamingfurever.com for more information.

General | Posted 13 years agoWanted to get your thoughts on both of these games!
How many of you have picked up one or the other...or both? And what do you think so far?
I'll post the comments in an article I'm writing.

Gaming Furever T-Shirt/Apparel Designs Needed! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
General | Posted 13 years agoGamingFurever.com is going to be offering T-Shirts and other apparel and accessories on a GF-Themed website store. We want YOUR designs to make it onto T-Shirts everywhere! So! We're looking for people interested in designing a gamer-themed shirt or other product (with their art or typography) that will be listed and sold online. Your art will also be promoted on the site, and you'll receive a free month of advertising on GF starting in November/December.
You will get a percentage of the sales (so no worries!) and the intellectual property will remain yours.
Submit your ideas, designs, or previously done artwork to GamingFurever[at]gmail.com and let us know you will be by commenting here. OR you can send us a note! :D
If you're an artist with over 1000 watchers and you're interested in creating an art piece with our mascot(s), send us an email at the address above. We're willing to commission GF-themed art from you at the right price. :3
Also, what are some of your favorite web-stores to host T-Shirt designs and such on?
