Did you know I'm vtuber too?
Posted 6 months agoI just realised I never posted about it here!
For the past few months i've been getting into streaming! it's a lot of fun! I mainly stream vidoegames, but also art streams from time to time.
I usually stream 2 or 3 times a week on Twitch andpost teh recordings to my Youtube channel.
I usualy do spooky games on Sundays, whatever takes my fancy on saturdays, and Thursday evenings are wine appreciation and fighting games!
i've just started a playthrough of "Mars Vice" , if you like furry adventure games :)

Remember the old ways
Posted 10 months agoWith the US looking like it's going to go to shit fairly soon, plus all the project 2025/porn ban stuff, and considering how the republicans seem to have got a thing in their heads about furries in recent years. It's not unreasonable to assume that there's a non-zero chance FA becoming a target or seeing significant disruption.
A full off-shore back-up of FA is unlikely to be feasable. So, it's up to individual users to take care of their own concerns.
- Make sure your own art if backed up on your own systems.
- Download any media you like to your own systems.
- Keep an offline list of all the artists you like.
- Connect with your favorite artists in as many places as you can; follow them on patreon, bsky, mastodon, Telegram, Signal, email, where ever. The more the better.
- Consider hosting your own site, or at least get a page that you keep links to all your places available (mine is currently over on https://garrwolfdog.carrd.co)
- forge your own network of connections with artists.
The fandom was built distributed and dispersed. Hubs have come and gone, and we've still found eachother.
Remeber the old ways,
We are resiliant.

More surgery :(
Posted 5 years agoSo, last week I fell down the stairs and hurt my ankle. I thought it was a really bad sprain but after walking on it for a few days I got it checked out, aaaaaand it's turns out it was actually multiple spiral fractures in my ankle and leg!
So I'm due to have surgery some time in the next day or two to try and re-build it all.
Hopefully I'll recover smoothly but I can see a bunch of physio and stuff in my future.

Goodbye Decade!!!
Posted 5 years agoIt's been a tough decade but I reeeally don't want to dwell on the bad stuff too much right now.
LIFE
- I started the decade living out of suitcases and i'm ending it in my own house. I'll definitely take that win :)
- I transitioned. Not much more to say about that. It's been one of the best things i've ever done for myself.
WORK
- I kinda gave up on my dream of working in a creative career. Though, looking back i'm not sure how much of that was actually my dream and how much was just be looking for some sort of meaning. Who knows.
- I started a career in the tech industry, and have weaseled my way through.
ART
- My artwork has improved a bit, slowly though I don't get a chance to do as much of it as used to. and in this past year it looks like a whole other artist has taken over my account XD
- Weirdly, I started the decade drawing on laptop with a reversible stylus enabled screen, and i'm finishing the decade drawing on laptop with a reversible stylus enabled screen, this one is just much more shiny!
LOVE
- Cass and I are still happily married!
- Our little family has lost a few members in the last few years, some much much too soon, but it's also grown :)
GOALS
- For the next decade? i've got no clue. Survive, I guess.
- For the next year? Focus on my physical and mental health. I've been letting both slide in the last year. And I want to try to be more social, if possible.

2018 Retrospective
Posted 6 years agoYouch, 2018 has been an exhausting year. There’s been some intensely bad stuff and some extremely good stuff, and all of it on the background of the political/social chaos everything else is kinda falling into.
Last winter we lost Norton, unexpectedly, to something the vet couldn’t diagnose.Only a couple of months later we lost Rugose, our youngest too; just as suddenly and just as mysteriously. It hit everyone in the house hard. We miss them both terribly.
But we also added a couple of members to the house this year! We got Samson, in the late summer, and Zevon just before Christmas. They brought a lot of chaos with them, but that’s fine. It nice to have the house full of life again :)
My overall mental health has taken a bit of dive in recent years, due to unrelenting stress from one source or another, but I think I made pretty good progress in tackling that this year.
I got out of a contract that was giving me all kinds of PTSD problems, and throwing up all kinds of red flags. I was able to get out of that early on and land a contract that let me work from home 90% of the time. Which was awesome! Working from home has been really good for my mental health, I really hope I can carry on with that in 2019 too.
There’s still plenty to work on but it’s been a good start.
I guess the biggest thing of the year for me has been my surgical trip to India. One way or another a lot of what i’ve been up to has been leading up to that. If nothing else it’s the closest thing i’ve had to a holiday in about 10 years (yes, I know that’s kinda messed up).
The whole surgery thing was... intense. More so when factoring is all the lead up to it and wrangling it took to get the time off for it. Honestly I didn’t have much of a plan; last January I just thought “fuck it. Book it all in and we’ll figure it out”. So I did, and I did (i’ve always been better at improvising than planning).
The lead up was stressful and the recovery took a lot more out of me than I expected. But i’m sooooooo glad I did it. I’m super happy with the results so far and it only seems to get better each day :)
PriyaMED is totally amazing; can’t recommend them enough
2018 has been “a lot”. I’m exhausted by it all but also kinda hopeful for 2019.
I’m hoping to get some more stability this year, and build on the things i’ve been working so hard to secure over the last few years.
Resolutions? I dunno, the usual “drink less”, “work out more”, “lose weight” etc etc. But I also want to get out more; try to be a bit more social again. I’ve been kind of a workaholic (“kind of” meaning “it’s a definite problem) for years now, and I really need to change that. There’s a better balance to be found, I think.
Here’s hoping 2019 will be a good year :)

Away for Surgery
Posted 7 years agotomorrow (Oct. 12th) i'm going to be away for a few weeks, for surgery.
I'm not sure what kind of internet access i'm going to have or anything, but I probably won't be checking FA too much while i'm gone. So, if you want to get hold of me or see how i'm doing, check my twitter or buzz me on telegram (i'm garrwolfdog on both) :)

Comming out to the family
Posted 7 years agoFollowing up the pic I posted last week ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/25789179/ )
So I came out as trans to my mother, yesterday.
The short version is, It went well. lots of misgendering and all that, but nothing malicious and nothing I wasn't expecting. She's a little clueless about it all but supportive and wants to help me come out to the rest of the family.
As with everything it's an ongoing process, but I think that counts as a win :)

Anniversary X!!!
Posted 8 years agoAnniversary X: The Space-iversary!!!!
The 10th one is always the one set in space, right? apart from Leprechaun 4..... maybe we should rebrand it "Wolfbat-X" or something?
either way, it should be set in space!
....
....
We're not in space.
But Cass and I have now been married for 10 years, which is WAY more awesome, and makes about as much sense :D
