Sonic 2 - Quick thoughts and short review
Posted 3 years agoI have been waiting for a while to see this sequel in the big screen and it was worth the wait. Not only is this movie as good as the first one, it's even better. The action and humor were great, the main characters were done correctly and even the side characters have been fleshed out. Tails was perfect in this movie and Knuckles was surprisingly good. I wasn't too on board with Idris Elba voicing Knuckles, but not only was he awesome, he was also really funny in this. I can see why Knuckles is getting his own series. I didn't care much for the human section of the story, but I didn't hate anybody in it. If you like the first movie or Sonic in general, YOU SHOULD WATCH THIS MOVIE!!

Top 10 Faithful Comic book Characters
Posted 4 years agoHere is my list of comic book characters that were not only faithfully adapted into live action movies, but were pitch perfect in most ways as their comic book counterparts.
10 Tony Stark/Iron Man (2008) Played by Robert Downey Jr.
This was the Marvel movie that gave birth to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as we know it. It started with Iron Man and ended with Endgame (pun intended). What started as a experimental test drive turned into a stepping stone for many billion dollar comic book blockbusters. And it was all thanks to Robert Downey Jr. This movie alone made Robert Downey Jr. into an overnight sensation, as he went from substance abuse to A-list celebrity. Aside from his charm and charisma, Robert looks exactly like Tony Stark from the comics. Did you know that Tom Cruise would have played Tony Stark instead of Robert?
9 Hank McCoy/Beast from X-Men: Last Stand (2006) Played by Kelsey Grammar
I like X-Men: Last Stand. I saw it twice in theaters. However, even I think that it wasn't perfect, but I was entertained and that's what mattered to me. Whether you like or hate this movie, there are some good things that we can all agree on. That bridge scene still holds up and Kelsey Grammar as Hank McCoy aka Beast. Much like Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Kelsey Grammar as Beast felt like they were born to play these roles. I cannot think of anyone else that can play this character perfectly and yes this Hank McCoy is and will always better than the Hank McCoy from the “First Class” time-line. He doesn't just look great in all that make-up, the personality and mannerisms are also pitch perfect. It's a shame that we didn't get to see him in the first movie or have him share a scene with Nightcrawler (who was also brilliantly portrayed by Alan Cumming).
8 Ben Grimm/The Thing from Fantastic Four (2005) Played by Michael Chiklis
Say what you will about the Tim Story Fantastic Four movies, but unlike the 2015 version, it was made by people that weren't ashamed of making a fun, comic book movie. And while the Roger Corman version was more faithful to the comics down to making the costumes exactly like the comics, it was just made to secure the film rights, just like Fant4stic and we all know how that turned out. The 2005 Fantastic Four movie did had some bad things in it. The acting could have be better, giving Dr Doom super powers and Jessica Alba as Invisible woman. However, Michael Chiklis performance as the thing was awesome. They originally wanted to make the Thing purely CGI, but Michael Chiklis himself wanted the thing to be real and practical all the way. And I appreciate that. In the comics, Ben Grimm didn't always like being the Thing and he wanted to be human again. They even got his character right. However, in order to give him angst and the motivation to have flesh and blood again, they gave him a wife who they made into an unlikable bitch that callously dumps him after he just saved some lives on a bridge.
7 Dr. Octopus from Spider-man 2(2004) Played by Alfred Molina
Another character that looks actually like the comics. Plus Alfred is a terrific actor, so bringing him to life was a good choice. My only nitpick was that the arms had A.I., and that's why Otto turned evil.
6 Most of the characters from Spider-man (2002)
After the success of the first X-Men movie, I was just excited to watch Spider-man on the big screen. I didn't know who Tobey Maguire was, or watched his films, but when I watched Spider-man in 2002, I didn't just enjoy Tobey's performance, I was entertained and happy that this movie was faithful to Spider-man's origin story. I thought Tobey Maguire played a good Peter Parker, Kristen played a good Mary Jane Watson, William Defoe was a great Norman Osborn (when he's not hamming it up during the dual personality scenes, however I kinda liked his costume though), the actors who played Harry, Uncle Ben and Aunt May were also good. However, J.K Simmons role as J. Jonah Jameson was not only super faithful to the Spider-man lore, but he was so good that he alone was EVERYONE'S favorite part of all the Spider-man movies. I like how that even though he views Spider-man as a menace and will do everything to smear his reputation, they somehow managed to make him funny and likable. Now that's impressive. He even voiced the character in various Spider-man cartoons. I liked this movie then and I like this movie now even more than the Sony reboots or the MCU ones.
5 Blade (1998) Played by Wesley Snipes
I was introduced to the character in the 90's Spider-man cartoon and I thought that when they were making this movie, that Blade's design was inspired by the show. Because I was a young kid, I couldn't watch the movie, but by the movie trailer alone, I knew that this movie was badass. Because it wasn't a traditional superhero movie, I didn't think that this was a superhero movie. Just a vampire hunter killing vampires. When I did watch it, I enjoyed most of it. The action was cool, the characters were interesting and the final climax was awesome. Over the years, I have learned that if it was not for Blade's success in theaters, We wouldn't have X-men, Spider-man or even the MCU and yet they overlook these films like they never even existed.
4 Wolverine and Professor X from X-Men (2000) Played by Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart
Once upon a time, there was news about a live action comic book movie based on the marvel property “X-Men”. Due to the success of the Fox cartoon, I couldn't wait to watch this movie. I was so excited that I would count how many months I had to wait for this movie. I saw the trailers, movie clips and behind the scenes specials on TV. I personally wished that the look and style would resemble the cartoon, but it still looked like it had a lot of good things going for it. The most characters look the part, the action was great, the effects were good and it told a decent story. My complaints of this movie were that Beast and Gambit weren't in the movie, there weren't any more members of the brotherhood of mutants and the costumes are not as colorful like the cartoon. It would have been nice to see Wolverine with the mask and yellow spandex. Speaking of which, this movie will always be the movie that made Hugh Jackman into a celebrity. He looked like what Logan was in the comics and the cartoon (minus the superhero costume), and he got his character right, a loner with a heart of gold. Also Patrick Stewart was just perfect as Professor X. If kids were talking about which actor should play as Xavier in a live action X-Men, they would all pick Patrick Stewart. After all, he doesn't just look exactly like Xavier, he sounds like him too.
3 Joker from Batman(1989) Played by Jack Nicholson
Of all the live action Jokers we've seen (The Dark Knight, Suicide Squad and Joker 2019), my favorite is the one with Jack Nicholson. Why? Because this Joker is the most authentic one of the all. In the comics, the Joker fell into a vat of chemicals which bleached his skin and gave him a permanent smile on his face. The 1989 movie did the same thing. He had a twisted sense of humor, he had henchmen with a clown gimmick during the movie and he had his joke weapons like the hand buzzer and the prop gun. Heath Ledger, bless his soul was a good Joker, but I hate that he more of a terrorist than a super villain. I hate the way he moves his mouth, however I thought that him dressing as a nurse to visit Harvey was the only thing that was funny and awesome about this Joker. The Joker in the 2016 Suicide Squad movie sucked, but he did redeem himself in the Synder cut of Justice League. And as for the “Arthur Fleck” version, I'm one of those guys that didn't like or care for this version of the Joker where he's an unlucky nobody with mental health issues that becomes the way that he is, because he was treated like trash by everyone.
2 Bruce Wayne/Batman (1989) Played by Michael Keaton
Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne and Batman was and still is the best one yet. If the late 80's had computers like we do now, People would have posted angry letters on the internet and demand that he shouldn't play Batman. Because back then, people wrote angry letters about this, but here we are. Michael Keaton did a great job playing Bruce Wayne, a billionaire putting on an appearance of a playboy to hide who he really is. Plus he is also a badass as Batman. While Batman Returns was as good as the first one, I liked how the were moments where Bruce was able to vulnerable as both Bruce and Batman when it came to Selena.
1 Clark Kent/Superman (1978) Played by Christopher Reeve
Christopher Reeve was a great Superman as well as Clark Kent. He wasn't just a hero in a costume with a cape, he was simple farm boy from Kansas and a smart yet mild-mannered reporter from Metropolis. While many actors, like Brandon and Henry were good versions of Superman, Christopher Reeve owned the role. Even though that the first Superman movie was released in the late 70's, Christopher Reeve embodied the kind, strong and determined Superman from the comics, even after the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover. Christopher just gives off an aura of charm and likability, whether he's on-screen or off. My only nit pick regarding the character, is that he almost never throws a punch. Yes, I want heroes to be kind and clever enough to find ways to end a problem without always using their fists, but it would be nice to see this Superman really fight back when he has to. It's one of the reasons why I like Man of Steel. Whether you like it or hate it, it was cool to see Superman fight off Zod and his forces. Of all the four Superman movies staring Christopher Reeve, My favorite is the last one, Superman 4. Yes, I know that everyone considers Superman 4: The Quest for Peace to be the worst Superman movie and I know why that is, the budget was cut in half, the special effects were poor and there were plenty of plot holes. However, I still see it as a guilty pleasure. Why? Because there are things to like about this movie. Here's my first big reason why I don't hate this movie despite its flaws, Nuclear Man. While Terence Stamp did have a strong presence as General Zod, I couldn't fear him and/or take him seriously with what he and his team are wearing. Brainiac was supposed to be in Superman 3, but they didn't have the effects or the money to pull it off. Nuclear Man on the other hand, I could definitely see him as a genuine threat to Superman and the world. It's a shame that Mark Pillow didn't have any more movie roles after this. My second reason why I like Superman 4 is because I find it to be less boring than the other three. The first Superman did tell a good origin for superman, I didn't like Superman 2 because that diner fight scene ruined that movie for me and I'm sorry but Richard Pryor just wasn't funny in this movie. Regardless Christopher Reeve was able to make us believe that a man can fly and we will be always grateful for that.
10 Tony Stark/Iron Man (2008) Played by Robert Downey Jr.
This was the Marvel movie that gave birth to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as we know it. It started with Iron Man and ended with Endgame (pun intended). Goodbye 2020 and Hello 2021
Posted 5 years agoWhat a year! I'm hopeful that by 2021, everything gets back to normal, people can get their businesses back and that we don't have to wear masks all the time. I hope that this edited picture from Final Crisis Rogues Revenge #3 will give those who hate this year some catharsis and/or give you a laugh.

20th Anniversary X-Men (2000)
Posted 5 years agoI saw some twitter feeds talking about the X-Men 2000 and was surprised and happy that people still remembered it to this day. In the last months of 1999, trailers for the X-Men movie had arrived. Because of how popular the 90's X-Men cartoon was, this movie was made at the right time. Despite the lack of colors regarding the costumes of the X-Men and that Gambit and Beast (who did appear in X-Men 3 aka the last stand) were not in this movie, I was still excited to watch it. Why because even though that Bryan Singer wanted this movie to be taken seriously most of the time, it was still a comic book movie that looked faithful to the source material (even though everyone including the actors were told not to read the comics or watch the cartoon). I loved how the actors looked and acted exactly like the characters they were playing as. Patrick Stewart was so awesome as Charles Xavier that I can see him as Xavier and not as Picard. Ian McKellen did a great job playing a holocaust survivor that wants to create a world were mutants would rule over the humans. Everyone else was well casted, but as for Hugh Jackman playing as Logan / Wolverine, this may have been the best thing to ever happen to him. Let's be honest, did we know, let alone care who Hugh Jackman was? No, because until the X-Men movie, Hugh was pretty much just stage actor and had Russell Crowe not pass off the role to Hugh, he would not have gotten his big break. It's amazing how an unknown actor became a popular A-lister all because he was playing a comic book character. Because Hugh Jackman was so good as wolverine, he has portrayed him in about 9 movies from 2000 to 2017. It's a shame that we don't get to see Hugh wearing the classic "yellow spandex" costume from the comics. The movie was such a box office hit that it led to sequels, a new x-men cartoon and we got a Spider-man movie in 2002. I miss being legitimately excited for Comic book movies. Yes, if it wasn't for Blade, we would not get the X-Men movie in the first place. However, because Blade was rated R, kids like me at the time weren't able to watch it. It's been 20 years since this movie came out and I still love it. I even like the Last Stand. As far as I'm concerned, we would not have an Iron Man movie let alone a Marvel Cinematic Universe if not for the X-Men.

Merry Christmas Everybody!
Posted 7 years agoTop 10 Worst Christmas Movies List
Posted 7 years agoHello and Merry Christmas everybody. Because Christmas is here, we have a catalog of movies featured in the holidays. However, some of them have little to no joy to them. So here I will count down the top 10 Worst Christmas movies in my opinion.
Santa's slay
When I saw the VHS cover for this movie, I thought it would be in the same level as Halloween or Friday the 13th. And it does have murder caused by Santa, it was more of a horror comedy than a horror movie. I guess it wasn't supposed to be taken seriously in the first place. My problem with this movie was that it wasn't scary. Jack Frost (Not the 1998 movie with Michael Keaton) was scarier than this movie. The silver lining for Bill Goldberg playing Santa in this film was that he met his future wife during the filming.
I'll be home for Christmas
So let me get this straight. A kid is bribed, yes bribed by his father to come home for Christmas. Some bullies strand him in a desert and he tries to get home in hilarious ways throughout the movie so that he can get a car. Really, all this kid cares about is the car. Also why did the bullies drop him of the middle of nowhere and why weren't they punished. Also the kid has a crush with Jessica Biel. In the end, he purposely chooses to be late, just to get the girl. It's boring and it sucks.
The Nutcracker 3d
Why would anyone want to watch this movie with their little kids in 2d, let alone in 3d? It has nightmare inducing CGI, awkward acting and I kid you not, it has rats portrayed as Nazis. They don't have swastikas, but the Nazi imagery is all over the third act of the film. It deserves it's 0% rating at Rotten Tomatoes and it is still amazing that this movie was green lit to begin with.
A Christmas story 2
I want to tell you a little secret. I don't like the first Christmas Story movie. I Hated the adult voice and I found most of it boring to be honest. However, I do get why people think that this movie. It has a lot of good memorable moments like the licking the pole, the leg lamp, etc. A Christmas story 2 isn't a sequel, it's a lazy rip-off of it's own movie. It doesn't have any new ideas to call itself a sequel and the characters were more likable in the original than this one.
A Miracle on Christmas lake
I thought this movie was joyless Period. No one was likable and the good moments were not genuine.
Dear Santa
I was browsing through channels and I came across this movie half-way. And because I did not see Dear Santa from the beginning, I was rooting for the main character Crystal when I wasn't supposed to. She lies her way into a family's life and when the girlfriend get jealous of Crystal, she comes off as the bad guy. This movie wants us to hate Jillian so badly, that they make him into a “doesn't really like children” snob. And yet She's right.
Christmas with the Cranks
So this movie is about a couple that refuse to celebrate Christmas and because of this they become pariahs in their own town. This movie would have had even more problems, if the couple didn't want to partake in the Christmas holiday because they celebrate another holiday like Kwanzaa or Hanukkah. The characters are obnoxious and unlikable and the message of this film is that if you don't celebrate Christmas and only Christmas, you are to be hated as the Nazis.
Surviving Christmas
I wish that Nostalgia Critic reviews this movie, because it is a mean-spirited crap show from beginning to end. If you watch it, you will hate Ben Affleck.
Christmas with a Capital c
This is a Christian flick, about a guy wanting to remove Christmas for Political Correctness. And while He's portrayed as a villain, the other characters don't come off as unlikable either. Especially one of the supporting characters that think he's funny, but he's an annoying, obnoxious MAN-CHILD. There is another movie similar to this movie and it's called “Last Once of Courage”. They both believe that they prosecuted by anyone that isn't Christian, but guess what in the real world, NO ONE TRYING TO TAKE CHRISTMAS AWAY FROM YOU. You can celebrate any holiday you want. The moral of “How the Grinch stole Christmas” was that even if you take away the presents, you can never take away Christmas.
Merry in-laws
Merry in-laws is a hallmark romantic comedy about a couple spending Christmas with their parents, but the twist is that the boyfriend's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claws. This movie is filled with the most annoying clichés that I hate. As much as I hate the third act break-up, this movie made me hate the over-protective parents cliché. The main conflict of this movie revolves around the girlfriend's father who is giant stick in the mud when it comes to Christmas. And when he learns that his future son-in-law's parents are the really deal. He hardly gets any comeuppance for his rude behavior. I swear I wish I could be in the movie just to give the father a piece of my mind.
Me: You are a real Grinch, you know that! You know I think that the real reason you didn't want your daughter to marry this man was that you actually HATE Christmas for some reason because you have been rude and unpleasant towards him and his family, even when they have done nothing but be nice to you. Is being nice for the sake of it count as a con in your opinion? You just can't stand anything that is related to Christmas, can you? Was your father just as uptight as you? Did he tell you to grow up and that there's no such thing as Santa Claws when you were very young? But given how strict and authoritative your upbringing was, you couldn't even pretend to be polite. Merry Christmas Jerk-face.

Rampage Movie Review
Posted 7 years agoWarning for Spoilers
When I went to go see this movie, I didn't have high expectations. But now that I've watched it, I thought it was okay. It's a fun but dumb movie. I'm not a huge fan boy of the Rampage series, but I do know what's it about.
In the game Rampage, There's no plot but you get to play as 3 giant monsters (a gorilla named George, a wolf named Ralph and a dinosaur-like Lizard named Lizzie) and you get to smash buildings, tear apart cities, throw cars around and eat people while the military tries to stop you. The 3 monsters were just ordinary civilians that were mutated into these giant creatures.
In the Movie, the monsters are already animals that are transformed into monsters due to an experimental gas created by a shady company and it's up to a primatologist who has a close bond to George and a discredited doctor who once worked on the gas to save the world.
Characters
Dwayne Johnson as Davis is a good, likable character and his relation to George is genuinely charming. I like that we get to know why he's more into animals than humans. When was a solider in war, the countless deaths may have made him
jaded, but it was seeing the cruelty of animals at the hands of poachers that made him see the worst in humanity.
Naomie Harris as Dr. Kate Caldwell is also likable in this movie. I'm glad that she wasn't a forced romantic interest to Davis and I liked how she responded to Davis' view on humanity by pointing out that because of him George doesn't hate humans even though his mother was killed by poachers.
When I first saw the trailer, I knew that Jeffrey Dean Morgan's character Harvey Russell was a smarmy, condescending douchebag that was going to be cannon fodder in the end, simply cause he's with the government. However, during the film while he's hamming it up with his Texas accent, he becomes less a dick and more of a reasonable authority figure towards the two leads.
Do you know what Joe Manganiello's character in this movie and Bryan Cranston's character in Godzilla have in common? They were both given the impression that they would play a larger role in their movies, but were killed off after a few minutes of screen time during the first hour.
And last but not least the villains, Claire and Brett Wyden are the ones responsible for everything bad in the movie. Brett is just an dirty coward, but Claire on the other hand is cold and calculating. Considering her role in the HBO series "Billions", Malin Åkerman must have plenty of experience in playing a manipulative cow that always gets what she wants. Her death may have been over the top but it was satisfying after everything she has done.
Action
The action was okay. The action felt like it was going to fast and the comedy was forced. A lot of CGI and now that I've thought about the destruction of the city does invoke 9-11 imagery.
Final Thoughts
I didn't hate it or regret seeing it but it did have some annoying clichés like Overzealous government agents, arrogant military soldiers that ignore the protagonists and the fake death scene. Aside from making the monsters more realistic, instead of making them very similar to the game, This movie has used 90 percent of it's source material in this film. Also there's a blink and you'll miss it moment when the Rampage arcade game is located in Brett's office.

Top 5 Cartoon Mean Girls
Posted 8 years agoHere are my Top 5 Mean Girls aka Alpha Bitches from various cartoons that I hate ranging from low to high.
5. Bonnie Rockwaller (Kim Possible)
If you’ve watched the show, Kim Possible is beloved by everyone but Bonnie here mostly exists just to show that not everyone likes Kim and that because they’re in high school, someone has to be the designated popular snob. While she’s intentionally unlikable, she’s not as evil as the villains Kim face. She also gets humiliated from her selfishness and in the final episode; she doesn’t get to graduate from high school because she deliberately skipped her classes which had an important pop quiz and now has to attend summer school. So there’s that.
4. Connie D’Amico (Family Guy)
Connie is the embodiment of this trope both in appearance and personality. She’s a background character that mostly exists to bully Meg during the early seasons of Family Guy; but given how even her own family bullies Meg (Since Meg is the obligatory Butt Money), Connie is just a one dimensional twat. She is low on this list because even if she doesn’t change her attitude, she at least gets her comeuppance for her actions.
3. Mandy (Totally Spies)
I’m not sure if she’s more hate-able in the French version of this show but Mandy’s voice and personality are way beyond obnoxious. She’s a shallow, spoiled snob that you guess it, exists just to pick on the three protagonists. She is just a complete waste.
2. Sally Avril (Spectacular Spider-Man)
I’ve already listed Sally in my “10 Characters that I hate” list. But since this list is about popular mean girls that look down their noses on everyone, she’s on this list too. Sally is just as much, if not more of a bully as Flash Thompson. At least he and his buddies merely tease Peter, Sally outright wants him to suffer. Again WHY? I have been looking for a fan fiction story where Sally gets her comeuppance for the way she treated parker, but no such luck. Remember that episode in Spectacular Spider-Man; where Peter Parker lashes out at his friends because he was under the influence of the symbiote, why couldn’t he have told Sally off? Even Peter told off Mary’s aunt back in the old 1990’s Spider-man cartoon.
1. Chloe Bourgeois (Miraculous Ladybug)
I’ve just started to watch this show and I already hate Chloe Bourgeois. While she’s just another obnoxious, petty, entitled teen who is so spoiled to the extreme because her father is the Mayor of Paris, she is so unlikable that even in-universe everyone hates her. Almost 90 percent of the time, SHE IS THE REASON WHY PEOPLE ARE TRANSFORMED INTO SUPER VILLAINS OF THE WEEK. Chloe doesn’t change or develop; she is and always will be a selfish bitch who is just as, if not more of a villain than Hawk-Moth. In one episode of Miraculous Ladybug, she tried to be nice, (keyword try) but it was for a selfish reason regarding Adrien. When Adrien rightfully called her out on her selfish behavior, her butler suggested to her that she should have a party for everyone to show that she’s capable of being pleasant. However, because she’s such a spoiled brat, being likable was too much to ask. So her butler would use her favorite toy as a kid to keep her from being a snob. And even when the episode ended she goes right back into being the same bitch that doesn’t learn from her actions because that’s the status quo of this show. So to sum up, Chloe had to be bribed into being nice for less than 24 hours and for what; just to get into Adrien’s good graces? The mean girls I’ve mentioned on this list may be super unlikable but they are not as toxic as Chloe Bourgeois. The fact that she can make anyone miserable with her “The world revolves around me” attitude, without a doubt makes her the number one mean girl on my list. She makes “Allen Gregory” look like “Steven Universe” for crying out loud.

Batman and Robin Review – 20 Years Later
Posted 8 years agoBefore I begin, I would like to give my condolences and thanks to Adam West. A lot of us including myself were exposed to Batman for the first time due to the old live action series.
In June 1997, the movie “Batman and Robin” was released and it was regarded as the “Worst Comic Book Movie” of all time. When i was a kid, I enjoyed Batman Forever and I really wanted to watch Batman and Robin. I wasn't able to see it theaters, but I did watch it on VHS and it felt almost similar to Batman Forever. It had neon lights, campy villains, good actors and great set pieces.
Over the years and thanks to the internet, I have learned that everyone including the director thought that it was a bad movie. Me, I thought that it was okay, not super awful, but watchable. I've been trying to ask myself the question, why is Batman and Robin considered to be the worst superhero movie? Was it too silly even for Adam West's Batman series. Maybe. Because Batman Forever made money and was enjoyed by the kids, Joel was asked to repeat the same success for the sequel. Was it the campy villains? Sure. Now that I know about Mr. Freeze and who he is in the comics and cartoon, it was face palming seeing Arnold ham up the place with his goofy humor and ice puns. However, I did like his costume and one of my favorite puns was when he told everyone to chill three times. My complaint about Mr. Freeze was that he didn't wear his goggles that much except for that one scene. I didn't not mind Arnold's take on Mr. Freeze, because it looked like he was having fun. Can't say the same for Poison Ivy. Even back then she would make me cringe the most during the movie. I didn't like the hair, the eyebrows and the scene where she makes a fool of herself while meeting with Mr. Wayne was the most cringe worthy acting i have ever seen. I get how Uma wasn't in that much movies until Kill Bill came along.
This movie does have major flaws but it also has positives too. I would rather have Batman and Robin be campy than joyless as Batman v Superman. During the years, we have been given plenty of superhero films, both good and bad. And i have to ask, is Batman and Robin still the worst comic book movie of all time? Compared to movies like Fantastic Four[2015] and Cat-woman, i don't think so. I would rather watch Batman and Robin many times instead of those movies, why because the main reason why those bad comic book movies have failed so miserably was because THEY DIDN'T CARE. At least they were some people that put effort into Batman and Robin. If you think about it, we wouldn't have great movies like The Dark Knight and The Avengers if it weren't for this movie's infamous reputation.

Marvel says that diversity may have alienated readers
Posted 8 years agoThose pandering, over-rated hypocrites! They're trying to blame this on us? Marvel's books are declining because "people didn't want female, LGBT or diverse characters"? UP YOURS MARVEL! There are plenty of reasons why comic books sales are down and it's not because MARVEL thinks that people don't want diversity. Sometimes sales go down due to poor writing, character derailment, jumping on bandwagons, canceling books like the Fantastic Four (maybe because it's not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe) and constant event comics that lead towards more event comics. You know what makes this complaint even more pointless, Marvel had more diversity than DC during the 70's. Speaking of which, I may be a DC fan, but even I have stopped buying DC comics because the new 52 has alienated and confused long time readers. The reason why I stopped buying Marvel comics wasn't because they introduced a female Thor or making Falcon the new Captain America or even turning Steve Rogers into a Hydra Nazi. No no no, I stopped buying Marvel comics because I was so tired of those heroes acting like jerks while getting into "hero vs. hero" fights because that's how things work nowadays.
Here is the article on how sales are down at Marvel:

Dr. Strange movie review
Posted 9 years agoIt was good but it could have been better. Benedict Cumberbatch was an excellent choice to play the title character. He alone made this movie worth watching. The visuals were good and the fight scenes were very creative, however my complaints are with the other characters. Tilda was good as the ancient one and Wong was good as well. Rachel McAdams plays a character that would have been better off in Thor as Jane Foster, sadly she was given very little to do. As for Baron Mordo, I was hoping that another actor would play this character. Mads Mikkelsen should have been Baron Mordo, but instead he's just another forgettable villain who serves Dormammu. Speaking of which WHAT THE HELL DID THEY DO TO DORMAMMU? He looks nothing like the comics, but to be fair at least he's not a cloud like Galactus from rise of the silver surfer. After just watching this movie, I just realized that this movie is a lot like the first Iron Man movie. If they did an Honest Trailer for Dr. Strange, they would talk about how the two movies are the same from beginning to end. I think that this movie is good but I like the animated direct to DVD version better.
Top 5 Hated Video Game Characters
Posted 9 years agoHere are my top 5 most hated video game characters. Note: there might be some spoilers regarding to the games and a large portion of the list contains villains. Even though that villains are supposed to be unlikable, my list contains characters that I personally find to be too unlikable.
5. Derrick Mathis (Tales of Xillia)
Even though Derrick is not a villain, he just comes off as a unemotional dick. He's the father of the main hero Jude and he's a strict, hard-ass doctor. I know that he does love his son and that he's at best a jerk with a heart of gold, but his inability to lighten up or cut Jude some slack really rubs me the wrong way.
4. Patroklos
Patroklos Alexander is the main hero of Soul Calibur 5 and he's the son of Sophitia. Despite being one of the protagonists, Patroklos is an arrogant, self-righteous douchebag in this game. He's very bigoted towards the "malfested" to a point where he kills innocent people without thinking about the consequences of his actions. In the story mode, even though that Patroklos does transform from a ruthless killer to a hero, he's still not a popular character. He is disliked by fans the most along with his sister. Even Ivy (of all people) points out in story mode that Patroklos is a jerk with little to no manners. Ivy: Anyway, you should do something about that rude brother of yours.
3. Reboot Dante (DmC)
Why did they want to reboot the Devil may Cry series in the first place? Did people not like Devil may Cry 4? I was willing to be open minded about his appearance, in fact he was alright in "Playstation All-Star Battle Royale". However, in this modern reboot, this Dante is an unlikable jerkass. He's a cocky, foul-mouthed punk that doesn't even care about saving the world. And when he does care about saving humanity from the demons, it's only because he's motivated by the supporting female character in the game.
2. Rafe (Uncharted 4)
Even though that Uncharted 4 was released not to long ago, Rafe has become the most hateable bad guy of the Uncharted franchise. [Spoilers] Rafe wanted to steal the Avery treasure for himself [even though he's already rich to begin with] just so that he prove that he's more of a legend than Drake and he's such an asshole to everyone even to his second in command Nadine. After he slaps her and buys off her men, you wouldn't be surprized when she betrays him and leaves him to die with Drake.
1. Lt. Carter Blake (Heavy Rain)
And my number one most hated video game character of all time is Carter Blake and he's a cop. Now why do I hate this guy more than the origami killer, let only any villain in the game? Well you see Carter is the embodiment of police brutality and everything people hate about cops nowadays. He's nothing more than a violent, sadistic bully who takes pleasure in beating up suspects rather than being a good officer. How does he continue to be a cop with all these attributes? And worst of all he hardy gets any comeuppance and even if he does it's not very satisfying.

Is DC that afraid of having fun in their movies?
Posted 11 years agoSome time ago, Warner Bros said that there was going to be a no-fun policy for the DC Movies. Why? Is it because movies like Batman and Robin or the 2011 Green Lantern movie didn't do well at the box office? I guess since the Nolan Batman movies were really good, DC & WB feel they have to add realism to their superhero movies in order for people to take them seriously. When did optimism become such a bad thing? Ever since The Dark Knight movie, Directors are trying to bring angst and grit to popular characters. It's like If your hero doesn't have some tortured past or dark secret, your audience will hate them or something. The no-fun policy was what made people not like Snyder's Man of Steel movie. I may like the movie but even i hate how dark and joyless it was. I get this feeling like they're ashamed to embrace the optimism of their characters for the fear of being silly. Instead of being excited about the Superman/Batman Movie, I'm worried. Once it premieres, people will definitely complain about it online.
I get that DC wants to catch up to Marvel's cinematic success when it comes to making box office sales in movies; but you know what? DC is doing just fine with their animated direct to DVD movies. Some of them are even better than the live action movies.
And FYI, I kinda like Batman and Robin. When i watched it as a kid, i thought it was alright. But now i see it as a guilty pleasure. I liked the action, it had drama, bat-girl made her debut in the big screen and Mr. Freeze's suit was cool, no pun intended. Speaking of puns, There was one ice pun i actually liked in this movie. However, i do get why this movie was widely hated, it was campy, trying so hard to be marketable to children and it was silly on some many levels. Even scenes with Poison Ivy were really cringe worthy. Plus they are a lot of bad comic books that are much worse than Batman and Robin.

Why isn't Spider-man a Villain?
Posted 11 years agoNow don't get me wrong, I like Spider-man. However, I've noticed that Spider-man aka Peter Parker has a life Full of misfortunes that make Charlie Brown's life look more upbeat. Hell in a Wizard magazine, someone said that When Peter Parker is not fighting crime as Spider-man, he's miserable. We all know that Spider-man chooses to be a hero because of his "with great power, comes great responsibility" shtick. However, with all of his troubles in his life, why should he be a hero? His parents and uncle dead, he's teased by his classmates, having difficult paying bills, losing Gwen Stacy, being cloned and told that he wasn't the real Peter Parker, being hated by the public thanks to J.J Jameson and his smear campaign against the wall-crawler, being viewed as a criminal by the cops, not getting a thank you for his heroism and losing his marriage to Mary Jane. If Spider-man didn't have a guilt complex, he could have killed Jonah Jameson and anyone who would give him a hard time. Hell he already made a deal with the devil, so he got his foot forward into villainy.
Annoying attempts to Recreate the Movies
Posted 11 years agoThanks to Blade, X-men and The Avengers, Comic book movies make a LOT of money. A lot of people like them, whether they are comic book fans or not. Even the movies are exposing readers new or old to their comics.
All of this is fine and all, but comics and movies are two separate things.
Whilst the comics and movies could probably benefit from the mainstream audience, the stories and characters should be led by the comics, not the movies. Comic books can do much more than movies. But you know what, the real reason why comic book movies are so popular is because we the fans are excited to see a Hollywood movie based from a popular comic book or video game and thanks to the 21st century, we can't wait to see what kind of special effects will be used in that movie. Just because The Avengers got over a billion dollars in the box office, doesn't mean that the only way to get readers to buy your comics is to make them like the movies. When movie uses the source material from a comic book it's get liked by all; when a comic book tries to milk or copy the success of a movie it makes people cynical.
Even the new TV shows from Marvel exist for the sole purpose of advertising the cinematic Marvel Universe.

I Dislike Marvel Crossover Event Comics
Posted 11 years agoSeriously enough with the constant Major Marvel events Crossovers already. Sure it's awesome to have a major event crossover comic every once a year, however major crossovers happen almost every month. While fans are reading an event comic, Marvel announces another one coming. It's nice to have big event comics but it's also nice to take a break and to not force down what's happening at Marvel right now.
Crossovers like Infinity Gauntlet, (which affect the entire universe) are awesome, because they reward the fans and introduce them to the Marvel Universe in an exciting manner. But by having a crossover comic every five minutes simply turns the reader off. I think that Marvel wants to cement their status as the top comic book company and to prevent them from having another bankruptcy like they did back in the late 90's. But by throwing out too many books their way just stops old readers coming back and it deters new readers who want to get into comics.
A crossover should be reserved for something special, and it shouldn't just be an advisement to one of their comic book movies!
Besides, most of them are poorly written, hero vs hero story-lines.

My Pacific Rim Movie Review
Posted 12 years agoLast night i watched the Pacific Rim movie and it was awesome. I loved the action, the story and or once i actually cared about the human element in this movie. Unlike Michael Bay's Transformer movies, in Pacific Rim the human characters were actually likeable! (even the ones that weren't but I'll get to that) I would have given this movie a 10 out of 10 if not for one problem i have with this movie.
"Chuck Hansen". Chuck Hansen is one of the main four pilots of the Jaegers and he is an egotistical asshole especially towards the main character. Chuck's personality has made me asked a question about movies in general. Why is there always a jerk in a story? I know that in spite his attitude, he really does care about saving humanity just like everyone else but his antagonism towards Raleigh just makes him an insufferable prick. What i liked about this movie was how humanity joined forces and would put aside petty differences in order to work together.
Spoilers
You know as much as i dislike Chuck, i kinda wanted him to be alive in this movie (Instead of sacrificing himself along with the Sergent). Again, i was able to care about the human characters, despite some of them being unlikeable.
It was a great ride from start to finish, but i wish we could see more Jaegers in this movie.
