Posted 8 years agoWe are excited to announce that the next Gateway FurMeet will be held March 9th-11th 2018 at the DoubleTree Hotel St. Louis at Westport.
We have taken great care in considering our options in order to facilitate our grand plans to expand GFM while also being mindful of the costs for our guests. We are thrilled to announce that we have chosen a great hotel with an event team that is excited to work with us to give us a chance to grow while offering a great experience to our attendees. The DoubleTree hotel is located in Westport in Saint Louis County, near I 270 and Page Ave., approximately 30 minutes west of the previous hotel and with a much better convention space and better access to local restaurants in the nearby Westport Plaza.
We’ve been busy grinding away to level up GFM as we work to bring you a bigger and better convention. Many great changes are coming as we expand our convention space to bring exciting new events and activities, as well as kick off our con-wide game: Gateway Fur Quest, where players compete for points, achievements and prizes.
Here are some of the improvements we are excited about:
Convention improvements:
More event space and a better layout.
We have the whole event area to ourselves, with no overlapped groups in convention space.
A bigger Dealers’ Den and Artists’ Alley for more artists to share the art we all love.
Fewer steps! Only 3 steps or a ramp to move between hotel lobby and con space.
Dedicated registration area: no more daily setup and teardown.
For the guests:
GFM room rate of only $95 per night! Two styles available: Two Queens or a King with a sofa pullout.
Actual mini-fridge in every room, not a mini bar that won’t fit your snacks!
No fumbling for key cards just to access the elevator!
Free parking for everyone, guests and attendees!
Close to the airport for those who fly in, with a free shuttle available.
It’s just a short walk to nearby restaurants in Westport, or be lazy and take the free shuttle every 30 min.
A working hotel restaurant serving Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Discounted Breakfast Buffet voucher available at check-in for $10 each.
The lobby bar is open from 4pm to 1am.
Why no GFM2017?
Last year we decided to move GFM to the fall in order to avoid overlap with other events and get around the Cardinal’s schedule. Unfortunately, after massive delays in communication with the hotel staff and the hotel nearly doubling the cost from last year, we decided to research other options. After careful consideration, we decided that in order to put on a great event, rather than try to cram it into the fall for the sake of having a con, we should allow ourselves and you more time to plan, so we pushed back to the spring. We still want to give our local friends a chance to get together this year, so we will be having our first GFM picnic on September 16th, 2017 in Greentree park in Kirkwood with food, fun, and games. More on that later.
Registration for GFM will open on July 1st 2017. Stay tuned for information about registration, rooms, schedule, special events, Guest of Honor and more. If you are interested in running a panel, please contact us through the website at https://gatewayfurmeet.org

Firstly, let us apologize for the long delay! Our Corporation has gone through substantial changes, and our team has been working hard to get everything up to par!
For 2015 we will be proud to hold our convention at the Lumiere Hotel! Room reservations are open! GFM 2015 dates are May 8-10, and pre-reg will be opening up within 14 days!
Our theme for 2015 is CLYDEZILLA!!! As huge fans of Godzilla, what better way could there be to show it then to radioactively mutate our mascot Clyde into a gigantic monster stallion!

An exciting first year
Posted 11 years agoWhat an exciting weekend! Gateway FurMeet has finally happened, and the result has blown away everyone's expectations. On behalf of the entire GFM team, we'd like to extend our thanks to several people and groups.
Attendees, Sponsors, and Supersponsors
To our attendees, especially sponsors and supersponsors, this convention is for you and would not have happened without your support. Thank you for supporting a first year convention and ensuring that we will be able to do this for many years to come. This year, we had 211 total attendees of which 62 participated in the fursuit parade - more than twice our goal, and far more than we had ever expected to have this first year. We hope that we'll see all of you next year, and then some!
Team Members, Volunteers, Panelists, Dealers, and Artists
To our team members and volunteers, thank you for the hard work that you've all put in. This convention would not happen without those who put in their own time and effort. While our team was small (http://gatewayfurmeet.org/gateway-furmeet-team/), we had some big goals, and exceeded them all this year. To our panelists, dealers and artists, thank you for keeping this new convention fun and entertaining. The Dealer's Den/Artist's Alley and many of our panels were well attended this year and we hope that next year is even bigger.
Our Guest of Honor, PeacePaw
From Gateway FurMeet's inception, we have made a goal of showcasing amazing artists within the furry fandom that may not have had a lot of exposure, and this year was our first opportunity to accomplish that. We have all had a wonderful time working with PeacePaw and we would like to thank her for the work that she has put in for us. If you haven't yet, please don't forget to check out her artwork at her FA page, http://www.furaffinity.net/user/thegreencoyote .
Stray Rescue of St. Louis
This year we supported Stray Rescue of St. Louis (http://www.strayrescue.org/) as our charity. We were very excited to have them at our convention and to work towards supporting such a wonderful cause. The final amount of money raised is still being counted but we will post that information as soon as it becomes available.
We had a blast, and we hope that our attendees feel the same way. We'll be sending out a survey soon (and posting it here as well) so we can get some good solid feedback, please take the time to fill that out when you see it! This convention is for you, our attendees, and we need your feedback to make this convention even better. We already have many ideas for next year but we want to hear from you.
Last but not least, for those of you who wanted a t-shirt but were unable to buy one before we ran out, our shirts are available on Redbubble (http://www.redbubble.com/people/gat.....ild-west-theme) for a limited period of time. If you didn't get one, order now! As the shirts are made to order you do not have to worry about them running out, but this design will not be available forever.

For those of you that have not finalized your place to stay, we have some great news - the Hampton Inn - Gateway Arch has agreed to give our attendees the convention rate even though our room block is no longer available! Because our room block is now closed, there is no guarantee of room availability but if you call the hotel with your reservation, simply let them know that you're with Gateway FurMeet to get the convention rate. Registration Deadline Extended
Posted 11 years agoGreat news for our attendees that haven't had a chance to preregister yet - we've determined that we're able to extend the preregistration deadline to Sunday March 16th for this year! This is a one-time opportunity, so take advantage of it while it lasts by visiting our registration page at http://gatewayfurmeet.org/registration-2/ . Pre-reg deadline - 3 days
Posted 11 years agoIf you haven't already pre-registered for Gateway FurMeet, don't forget that preregistration closes in 3 days on Friday march 14th! If you miss the deadline or are unable to register in time or can't pay online, you can always register at the door.
Registration and Charity Updates
Posted 11 years agoGateway FurMeet 2014 is nearly here! As the date of our first convention draws closer, we have several important updates for our attendees.
Registration
Online pre-registration for Gateway FurMeet closes on March 14th, 2014. If you haven't pre-registered, please do so soon! While at the door registration is available, you'll save a little money with preregistration and it does make our lives that much easier if we know you're coming. You can register online at http://gatewayfurmeet.org/registration-2/ . Our hotel room block is filling up too so please make sure to reserve a room if you do not already have one lined up. You'll find all of the information you need on our Hotel and Transit page at http://gatewayfurmeet.org/hotel/ .
Some of you have pointed out that the Sponsor package was unavailable for a period of time - if you wanted to register as a sponsor but were unable to do so, the problem has been fixed and you can now register correctly. If you have any questions or other issues, please let us know at registration[at]gatewayfurmeet.org .
Charity
We are proud to announce our charity for 2014, Stray Rescue of St. Louis. Read all about them as well as information on donating to our charity auction on our charity page at http://gatewayfurmeet.org/learn-abo.....m/our-charity/ .
