Oh, a portfolio site launched!
General | Posted 2 months agoDon't mind me, just screaming into the void over here.
Took the last month to get my websites in order, which was overdue. Social media's taking a pretty fashy turn these days, so I guess the writing's on the wall. I'd argue that it's been there since at least 2015, but being 100% right about that 10 years ago isn't gonna do me any favors today! Still though, spare a thought and a few upvotes for your friendly neighborhood internet doom prophet.
Our Home Planet has been my catch-all for just about everything I've ever made, and lately that's started to feel a little... sloppy? Inappropes? A mix of both? I've been sitting on another domain name for ages, unable to think of something good to do with it... until now!
the Block is now a mirror of all my best work from the last 20 years, as well as the new home for my oekaki gallery and some of my older webcomics. All the horny art and stories will be living here from now on, to make accessing them in the future a little easier (especially if FA decides to do another header into the empty swimming pool of life). A gallery of all my B/W doodles and shenanigans should be popping up here soon, too.
MISTRESS is the exclusive home of all things Grizelda! Presentation is essential for a good horror narrative, so I'd like to make this site her base of operations. Just in case you hadn't noticed, all new MISTRESS content goes up on the site a whole day early! See it before it gets posted here! Reader-interactables will be moving here eventually, as well.
Once I'm done curating the new portfolio's gallery, Our Home Planet will go back to focusing strictly on the comic, keeping that site as lean and mean as possible. I may have goofed when I picked ComicControl as my new CMS, since it looks like development has completely ceased... but the less I try to duct tape together, the better it seems to function. We'll try that until the whole thing catches fire again!
More new art soon?

MISTRESS has a new URL!
General | Posted 6 months agoMISTRESS now has its own domain! How ominous!
There's a redirect in place, of course, but if you've bookmarked the old URL, the new one is worldofmistress.com.
One of the perks for website visitors is early access to new uploads! Another perk? It's all free!

MISTRESS website soft-launch!
General | Posted 8 months agoIf you're one of those particular individuals who likes my scarier works, you might like to know that I've gone ahead and launched the official Grizelda & Friends repository. Behold, and despair!

This format is a little closer to the structure I'd like for these stories, especially with inline images to prevent spoilers for the longer tales. Some of these future drops will include multiple illustrations, since I'm dipping my toes into the light novel waters. Don't worry, I'll still be posting all the new content here at FA, too—but if you'd like a viewing experience that's a little more curated and structured towards the spooky, Mundus Mortis welcomes you...

What does "pixel art" mean to you?
General | Posted 9 months agoGonna get a little into the weeds for this, since it's a question that I'm not sure has a right answer (though there are a few odd takes out there). With such a rapidly changing internet art landscape, this showerthought has been creeping back into my brain for a little reconsideration. What qualifies a piece as "pixel art" to you?
I suppose this will mostly depend on whether or not you're a pixel purist! Pixel art has a lot of manifestations out in the world, but at its most fundamental, it's dots on a canvas. You arrange those dots in a gridded pattern, and through the alchemy of sight and synapse, your brain recognizes that thing as a representation of its much more detailed counterpart. There's a general visual language used translate complex shapes with innumerable colors into compact approximations with creative dithering. You can't make a square round, but you can arrange a bunch of squares into a circle.
I'll be up front and say that I'm not entirely sure my own art counts, but I'll let you be the judge. I work almost exclusively at 72 dpi, I keep my lines aliased, and I generally draw with a color palette of around 10 values—though the colors in that palette vary wildly from picture to picture. This makes for some pretty tiny files, often under 100 kb. My more recent works have started introducing some gradients, halftones, and other blending effects, but I'm primarily using the pen, line, and bucket for everything. I use a lot of layers—between 20 and 50 based on picture complexity, if it's anything more than a black-and-white doodle. Most of the time spent on inking is shaving off jaggies to get the smoothest curves, sharpest points, and straightest lines. Working like this does place a pretty heavy focus on pixel placement for optimal results, but I'm still a little hesitant to call myself a pixel artist; I usually self-identify as a low-rez artist, to avoid confusion with the folks that I consider a little more firmly in the pixel art camp. But maybe I'm overthinking it and I should try to embrace it?
What say you, furfolk? Is it a certain aesthetic? Line width? Canvas size? Pixel size? Brush size? Palette size? File size? Chunky gradients? Similarity to a game sprite? All of the above? Something else entirely?
I'm all doglegged ears!

New year, new eyeballs, new projects!
General | Posted 11 months agoGreetings, Dear Reader! And a belated Happy New Year to you! What's that? Two weeks is past the grace period? Nonsense, time is an illusion and our physical bodies are nothing more than the manifested dreams of a slumbering elder god. Don't worry, they awaken soon.
Hard to believe a whole year has passed again, but here we are, looking down the barrel of 2025. You good? It's pretty crazy all across the globe right now. In trying times like these, it's right to turn towards art. Whether folks realize it our not, we've been processing our collective trauma through art for ages. Art is necessary, especially when it challenges us. But also when it doesn't. Go to your art place, make it as high or low brow as you please, but keep making it. Don't let anyone convince you that the things you make don't have value, because they're wrong. I'm rooting for you, even if no-one else is.
That said, welcome, recent watchers! Good to have you aboard! If you're new to all this, and I assure you that I am gesturing very suggestively as I type, I'd like to take the opportunity to inform you that you're in excellent company. That thing you like? I also like that thing. It's why you're here, after all. Drop hints on the pictures you've enjoyed or chat me up, you'll get more!
So what's on the agenda? I got off to a little bit of a slow start this year, but behind-the-scenes productivity has been steady! That Mysterious Project continues to chug along, and although there's not much to show at the moment, a website is in the works. This year's resolution, perhaps? It's pretty ambitious, but maybe! Grizelda and friends want to play with you.
We're also coming up on a year since my last interactive thang with all you cool folks and your sexy OCs. I had a lot of fun doing a raffle with you last year, so I've got a couple of ideas for new contests to run, sure to please both the sexy crowd and the scary crowd. You interested? Get your refs ready!
In other news, I'm still giving the ol' Social Media another try at Bluesky, in case you're the type that likes up-to-the-minute info on my preferred memes and brainrot. I'm still not really sure I get it, but I think I'm making some progress. It's a game, right? Boss fight's gotta be around here somewhere...

It's December already?
General | Posted a year agoApparently I decided to take the entire month of November off. A little disappointing to break my posting streak like that, but fear not: I'll be back on Monday with more of the full monty jiggery-pokery. We needed to get some things out of our system over here, as I'm sure you understand.
Would you believe I've got 10 (!) pictures in the works for you? Big lore drop for my upcoming project before the year's end, and maybe something bigger not too long after that... It's gonna be a busy year!
Hope your Thanksgiving wasn't weird!

Bluesky? Sure, why not.
General | Posted a year agoSince Birdsite is shedding all its artfolk at the moment, I'll go ahead and mention that you can also find me over at Bluesky, if that's your thing. Stories and lore are currently exclusive to FurAffinity, but you'll get some off-the-cuff doodles if you follow me over there.
Also, if you like Our Home Planet shenanigans, #ourhomeplanet is the hashtag. It's a bit porny at the moment, hope you don't mind.

Creators! What's your best-performing piece?
General | Posted a year agoGreetings, furthings! Today I'm serving up a spicy meatball of introspection for all you art-folk out there still whacking about in the salt mines, yearning for Italian food. Of the pieces you've posted here, which one has performed the best? This applies to pictures, objects, writing, music, whatever! Even if you only dabble.
We'll use an easy metric: Ignoring the length of time that any particular piece has been up, divide its faves by the number of views. You should get a rough idea of its "popularity" as a percentage. Obviously, this doesn't account for pieces with big comment chains or unusually high views, but you can use the outliers, too.
Did the reaction have any particular impact on your work? Did you find that the attention on this piece resulted in conversion to watchers? Are you mostly creating similar content these days, or something else entirely?
I'll go first: Dessert, featuring Zukie and Jinny, is still my most popular piece here after almost 15 years, at ~9.8%. This is around the time I started experimenting with more three-dimensional faces, instead of the ultra flat style I'd been cultivating up until that point. I really like asymmetry, and I try to incorporate it into my art whenever I can. I'm not sure if this got many additional eyeballs in the gallery since it was posted so long ago, but apparently the good vibes meant that chubby cheeks were officially the wave of the future. My art as a whole has been doing a slow creep towards more varied body shapes since then.
So what about you, buster? Spill it!

An extra layer of protection, just in case?
General | Posted a year agoHowdy, weirdos! A lithe and comely evening to you. Have some brainwords for your eyemeats.
I've been grappling a little with how to post some of the more out-there content. Those who have been with me for the last 20+ years probably get me well enough to know that I kinda just post whatever I want, whenever I want, wherever I want. My philosophy has always been: Don't like? Don't look. I'm not really big on splitting accounts for content, or dividing it up based on whether or not you can sneak a peek on the job. You did the work hunting down my goofy ass, I'm not gonna send you on a scavenger hunt looking for 12 other galleries to see it all.
I like to make adult content for adults. But would you believe that my gallery here is actually over half SFW stuff (52%, if you're into numbers)? I was surprised, too. I tend to think of myself as a pornographer, but my body of released work is pretty massive... over 700 pictures at this point between comics, portraits, oekaki, and sketches. Many of you probably know me from Our Home Planet, which is definitely more of an all-ages affair (bonus content not withstanding...). But these days, I've been letting my freak flag fly a little more, and that's probably been interesting for some of you.
Currently, FurAffinity doesn't support separated thumbnails. That's kind of a big deal on a site that supposedly encourages content gating, especially when so much of the work produced here is, shall we say... extreme? I think you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who disagrees. I'm not ashamed of my work, but I realize that the macabre can be a bit polarizing... even during Spooky Season!
I'm toying with the idea of cropping future scary-type pics into previews here, directly linking through to my website for the full thing, to help you manage this a little better. No landing page, just an externally hosted, uncensored image behind the link. There are some upsides to this, the primary one being unlimited file size. If I wanted to publish a big, honkin' Grizelda at 4K, you'd get to see that gross gal in all her glory, not a megapixel limit in sight. Another benefit is that you don't have an autopsy monster lurking in your porn notifications list, waiting to assassinate your libido with laser precision.
I know folks can be a bit sensitive about the off-siting here, but is this an agreeable solution for those of you not into the nightmare fuel? For those who are, would this actually be hella annoying instead? The gallery here is already tagged in a variety of ways to help navigating the minefield, but until honest-to-goodness thumbnails are functional at FA again, the notifications list can be a bit of a no-man's land.
Is this even something that needs addressing? Just putting my feelers out.

So, that Silent Hill 2 remake...
General | Posted a year agoWho's playin'? God damn, it's so good.
A little buggy right now, but we got to play through on a PC with maxed-out graphics and holy shit. It was like my first time through all over again. Lighting effects in modern games are kinda nuts.
Resident Evil was my first survival-horror love, but Silent Hill is my deepest.

Rin's running a raffle!
General | Posted a year agoHey, discerning Furry Art Enjoyer! I bet you're one of those types that likes free things. I can see you blushing!
If you're into my spicier stuff, such as Grizelda and Friends, you might be interested to know that my better half,
ulfrin, is running a gnarly raffle for Spooky Season! Got a character who's a perpetual also-ran in the Final Girl race? Perhaps an OC with a few too many innards, who's also willing to share? Maybe this is their unlucky month!
Watch and enter, why don'tcha? Entries close on October 15th!

Fanart bonanza!
General | Posted a year agoThat was fun! I had one of those moods a couple months back and I decided to make everyone who entered my raffle a winner. I can't guarantee I'll do something like this for contests in the future, but there's a lot going on right now and some of you seemed like you could use some cheering up. What better way than with a lewd gift?
Personally, I love doing naughty fanart. I think this sort of surprise was a little more common intra-fandom 20 years ago, since folks these days seem a tad protective of their OCs. I cut my teeth on oekaki boards, so maybe I'm just hardwired to pornify the things I like... I decided to play it safe this time around and only did folks who submitted characters specifically for this purpose, but what's your take?
Asking permission first is always an option, but it does take away the element of surprise... which, to me, is part of Good Gift Giving 101. I suppose a good gift should also be something wanted, because no-one likes getting something they don't want! On a site with such a strong focus on fetish, should an affinity for porn be assumed?
I'm going to be bold and venture a guess that anyone watching me likes smut, or at least my brand of it. But I do find myself second-guessing unprompted gift ideas lately, for fear of unintentionally offending someone who might be sensitive to that sort of thing. I just came back, so I don't wanna be that guy...
...Yet.

Woah, coming up on a year!
General | Posted a year agoWhat's up, sexy internet folks? You're looking good today.
As of July 17th, I will have officially been back on the draw horse for a year. In that time, I've managed to post 58 pictures, most of them exclusive to FA. Whaaaaaaat, 58 pictures in a year? From GD? That's crazy! Better call the wacky wagon. (ed. note: Final count was 63!)
But it's true! Something finally clicked in the summer of 2023 and I wanted to really try again. This is a big step for me because I've been struggling to motivate myself to do pretty much anything for the last 7 years, let alone draw. I've made a few attempts at psyching myself up since 2012, but it's been hard. It's insanely frustrating when an activity that normally makes you happy suddenly does the exact opposite. I figure there are at least a few of you out there that know what I mean.
This past fall, I also dumped a toxic job and it really helped wake me up. It's definitely not for everyone, but sometimes it's good to grab life by the balls and give 'em a firm, corrective squeeze. I'm not suggesting you blow up your life or anything, but there's something to be said for taking stock of your situation and deciding what's actually important before you wake up old.
One thing in particular I've been focusing on these past 12 months is making a more interesting mix of furry critters. Different animals, a wider variety of genitalia, new fetishes... well, new to this gallery, anyway (wink, wink). I like catfolk as much as the next guy, but just between you and me, I think reptiles, bugs, and birds are pretty neat, too. Hmm...
By some strange coincidence, Grizelda's intro picture was this last year's most popular, by no small margin! A distant but respectable second was the vagina dentata cultist. You guys have very specific tastes!
All this experimentation has actually given me the inspiration to make something new for the first time in a really long time, too. I am very excited to share my next project with you folks soon. I haven't debuted a thing in a while, and it's pretty different, so I'm a little nervous... But I'm feeling really passionate about it, and I figure I should probably take that as the sign that the wheels are back on the tracks.
My goal over the next year is to put a bit more joy out into the world. Maybe bring back a little of that oekaki vibe that so many of you in Social Media Land seem to miss. You don't need me to tell you that everything sucks right now, but what doesn't suck is doing what's within your power to make someone else's day suck a little less. Maybe that's not concise enough for a bumper sticker, but truth of the matter is that a little kindness goes a long way, especially in times like these.
Believe in that! Or just believe me.

Where do you post when you're not here?
General | Posted a year agoJust curious. Wifey and I have been trying it on at a few other galleries and social platforms to see if there's a good(er?) place to cross-post, especially when it comes to pop-culture fan-art, funnies, shitposting, and miscellaneous SFW stuff not necessarily of a furry nature. Or are you exclusive to FA?
Not that I don't love this big, sweaty pile of furry porn. Obviously way too much evidence to the contrary hanging around here! But am I correct in thinking that FA is mostly for the horny art these days? No shame or shade intended. I'm still catching up on the platform trends of the last decade... I used to browse the front page here for finding all kinds of new artists to follow, but it's fast lately and I'm slow. I've mostly been prowling other folk's recent faves and lurking tags for fresh meat, instead. Surely that's not the norm, but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of useful filtering around here currently...
So are you more of a gallerini or a tweeterino? I keep finding myself veering towards archive-style sites like this one and my own personal site, mostly for the editing and version control. I will also fully admit that I've never really been able to grok Twitter/Bluesky/etc., possibly due to the fact that I'm a werehermit (every full moon I become a recluse for the rest of the month).

Drumroll, please...
General | Posted 2 years agoThank you, everyone who participated in my humble little raffle! I've been out of the game for a while, but it's most excellent to still see the interest in my goofy pinups and weird horndoggery. This stuff is always way more fun with an interactive element. I've been trying to mix things up a bit since I came back, and hopefully that hasn't been scaring off too many of you watchers!
Anyway, without further ado, the winner of this nail-biter (conducted very scientifically with numbers in a hat, witnessed by the Right Honourable
ulfrin, Arbiter of Numbers in Hats) is...
osprey! Congrats, bro! Work begins this week on a hand-crafted smutting of one Osprey Hawk, beefy birdman of mystery. I'll post the end result to my front page!
And once again, thanks to all you cool folks who took part and showed off your sexy OCs! You're gonna get me all hot and bothered, filling my inbox like that... I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to put all your characters on my shortlist for future shenanigans, if that's alright! Just sayin', sometimes the mood strikes...

What's this...? A raffle?
General | Posted 2 years agoI'm gonna conduct a little experiment here... In the interest of some additional variety and also to stretch my artistic noodle a little, I wanna draw something saucy with your favorite personal character. Yes, yours!
Consider this a raffle, of sorts. I've got some fun smutty stuff in mind for my next batch of pictures, but it might be more fun if you get to play, too. Currently up for grabs is one (1) horny freebie of my choosing, featuring your sexy person. I do have some ground rules:
1) This must be entirely your original creation. No licensed characters or IPs that don't belong to you, including fan-characters from those IPs.
2) This is for a naughty picture, so you should be comfortable with this character doing sex stuff. No minors, zoo, or characters that could be reasonably confused for either. No extreme obesity, bodily waste, or anything related. Final say belongs to me.
3) All sexes, genders, and orientations are OK, but be advised that penetration is potentially on the table. If your character doesn't bang, you may want to pick another.
4) I'm gonna take a little artistic liberty with your darling, so no-one too precious or sacred, please. This is for sexy stuff, not scary stuff, but you should expect this character to get the GD Treatment; that means they're gonna look and be handled like an OHP cast member, for better or worse! This may include some minor design alterations if your style and mine are radically different.
Times is tough, so this is 100% free, and if you're the winner, you are free to repost the end result as long as my signature and attribution remain. Wanna play? The raffle is open to all active watchers of this account. Not a watcher yet? Just add me!
If you're interested, watch and post a comment below with a link to a nice reference of a single character of your choice, along with any details you think might be relevant. A character sheet isn't necessary, but if your character has a "good side", feature it! Feel free to share this offer if you know someone who's into my particular brand of tomfoolery.
Entries close Sunday, March 3, at midnight PST. Bonne chance!

Resolved!
General | Posted 2 years agoAs with many things, I think the secret to success with a New Year's Resolution is to aim low... or is that get high? Either way, achievable goals with sticky, tangible results. None of that "shooting for the moon" nonsense. I mean, have you seen how that's going lately?
On that note, OHP's website has finally made a rough landing in 2024! It doesn't have the latest art from around here yet (guess that's exclusive to you lucky ducks for the moment), and the fan-art page is woefully out of date, but everything should be linked, operational, and (dare I say it?) pretty once more. It even looks decent on smartphones for a change (wow)! As a new feature, I've also tagged all 296 pages, so the whole comic is now searchable by every single character of note (as well as by several unique tags for other purposes). I'll probably be adding a few more fun tags and a slightly more robust search tool to improve accessibility and re-readability, since one of my long-term goals with the existing pages is to make specific ones easier for fans to find. Maybe transcripts eventually, though AI's got me feeling some ways about making things too accessible on the web...
Going back through 12 years of links in my cyberquest to rebuild, something that stood out to me is the absolute state of older webcomics. A bunch of the stuff I remember fondly seems to have been scrubbed from existence, either intentionally by their creators or through years of website rot. I can definitely empathize with the latter, but man, what a bummer! Some others have moved behind paywalls or to print-only, and a few more appear to have switched to CBR/CBZ archives, which is... a choice, I guess! Webcomic monetization is one of those things that's always eluded me, since I've been hesitant to charge for the content itself. I do wonder sometimes if things might've shaken out a little differently if something like Patreon had been around in 2001...
Anyway, that's enough navel-gazing for now. You reading any good webcomics these days?

Year's End!
General | Posted 2 years agoGuess that's a wrap for 2023! What a weird half-a-year here. Productive, though! I can't remember the last time I posted so much new art. 17 pictures, yowza! That's more than the last 12 years combined. For those of you still around, thanks for sticking with me for like, what? Over 20 years, now? That's pretty nuts. You're good people. Let's talk more! Or at all? It's so quiet lately.
For the 10-or-so of you that are new watchers this year, hello! Glad you liked this mess enough to join in. Have you read my comic? I'm not really sure how to stand out these days, but if there's something in particular in my body of work that brought you here, I'd love to know. Added bonus: You'll probably get to see more of that type of thing.
What's 2024 gonna bring? All the people I've been watching back, I hope! But as for me, my top priority is getting my site back online. My resolution, if you will. The web winds seem to be blowing back the way of personal websites, so I should probably get on that, huh? I've got lots of new art in the works, too, and I'm looking forward to sharing that with alla youse guys.
Happy [Your Favorite Winter Holiday], and good luck next year! We'll probably need it.

Yoooooooo!
General | Posted 2 years agoHowdy, weirdos! I'm back again after another year of feeding my body into a meat grinder. I got kinda jealous of you guys hoarding all the cuties, so I'm here for a cut of the action. I'm always a little worried that I missed something important when I roll back in like this, but unless it's one of those ten million wieners in my notifications list, I'm sure you good folks will catch me up.
At some point over the last couple of years my websites started to collapse inward upon themselves, like a pornographic singularity. OHP's main site used a webcomic CMS that stopped getting updates a while ago (RIP, Grawlix), and some PHP update or another apparently stopped it from being able to render anything but a polka dot background (for how long, not sure...). The good news is that I was able to get all the comic pages ported to ComicControl, another handy webcomic CMS, so it's all still nice and readable. The bad news is that most of the other parts of the site (bios, extra art, writing, journals, comments, etc.) are down for now, which is obviously a bummer. But also, that's way too much stuff to upload to a site like this.
So, in the meantime, I'm gonna offset that a little by posting a bunch of new content here. And watching all you dudes. Seriously, all y'all been practicing? Hot stuff.
Also, it's super cool to still see interest in Our Home Planet, even after all these years! Every once in a while I find a new bit of art somewhere on the internet and it's just the neatest. Maybe some good news coming soon for the handful of you still interested...

Oh hey.
General | Posted 8 years agoI'm back. What'd I miss?
Mario Mario and Luigi Mario.
General | Posted 16 years agoApologies if this has already been pointed out on someone else's journal in a more timely fashion, but all I can think of when I look at the latest FA banner is this.
Tag'd!
General | Posted 16 years agoI previously had this unexplainable beef with tagging my things, whether it be art, documents or databases. I only recently discovered how silly that was, so lately I've been tagging everything I can get my grubby little paws on. Now nothing is safe from my search queries!
That said, all of the art here is now tagged and searchable. WOOP?!

Hello!
General | Posted 16 years agoThanks for all the comments and faves and such, folks. I'm pretty terrible at responding to people, but it's always cool to see little numbers in the corner.
Our Home Planet is back.
General | Posted 18 years agoFolks!
In case you missed it, OHP started up again on February 9th. Julian faces off with Lanogan in a bare-knuckle, steel-cage throw-down. In space.
And now you know!

I know this is the Internet and I know we're all furries, so we're like, doubly screwed... But howsabout we decide as a community to knock off the soapboxy bullshit and get back to making awesome naked people pictures?
Yes? Cool? Alright, let's get started.
