General | Posted 2 years agoThe Amazing Digital Circus - My 2 Cents
General | Posted 2 years agoYesterday, Glitch, best known for their series Murder Drones( https://www.youtube.com/playlist?li.....5i2Evwa2LDLdrg ), dropped the pilot for The Amazing Digital Circus - a project created, written and directed by Gosseworx.
Premise: the Story centers around a group of players trapped in a VRGame called The Amazing Digital Circus - a Jaw Dropping-Heart Stopping-Mind Bending-Paraphernalia world, controlled by an Eccentric A.I. Ring master Caine.
The groups' cast comes to grow when another player, a Jester girl who has no memory of her name, joins the troupe; named Pomni, the new member is given a round down of the crazy looking circus by the other characters. Pomni, already rattled by her VR predicament, and in her desire to get out - specially after seeing the exit door to the game - is warn of the adverse consequences of letting herself get loose in her desperation, and Caine keeps the cast members in mental check with daily activities.
However, Pomni and the others soon come to discovers one of the members has gone through the breaking point and Abstract - a form corruption madness caused by the mental anguish of been stuck in the game for so long - and try to find a way to deal with the threat as Pomni searches for the way out.

What a time to be alive - if we're not getting Kaiju news & trailers every months, then its the parade of new Animation by independent creators in what I can only describe as a renaissance (if you will) for the Online Independent Animation Genre, as we see works like Murder Drones, Helluva Boss, Monkey Wrench, Lackadaisy and Hazbin Hotel (soon to finally debut in Amazon Prime in Jan, with a 2nd Season in the works) taking center stage, after what feels months - if not years - of non stop bad news in the animation industry with Disney, Neflix and WBs among others either closing down or merging their animation departments, with tons of layoffs and show cancellations, not to mention disastrous animations shows (like Velma) taking center stage at times.
The unquestionable level of talent, still evident in the online scene, demonstrate that there are people out there ready and willing to give an audience seeking to enjoy animation, and the pilot for The Amazing Digital Circus doesn't disappoint.
The characters are stocked in what it is essentially a surreal Circus theme Colorful Wackyland, located in a Hubworld called the Grounds, which only contains the Digital Lake and the Digital Carnival controlled by an eccentric A.I. which acts like the God to this realm surrounded by the Void. Despite this, Caine has limits to his powers, with the only mystery in all of this been been "C&A" - probably the company that likely operates the game, and Pomni may be attached to (a possible hint to this is given in a scene where she kinda cracks).
For a Pilot, the characters are well rounded and not one feels to be a drag. They are well round up and compliment to each other. Even the more dick-esh of the bunch, Jax, comes out likeable in his way, despite been such an ass to the others.
Really, the only negative I can find are I wanted more and the hints to what may be the mystery to this world. It's a strong 9 out of 10 in my watch, and much like the other examples of Independent Online Animation I have given, The Gang of the Amazing Digital Circus has earn a watch from me in their future Jaw Dropping-Heart Stopping-Mind Bending-Paraphernalia Misadventures to come.

My 2 Cents on Netflix Gamera Rebirth No Spoilers
General | Posted 2 years agoAfter much postponing, I took all Saturday afternoon to watch Netflix's Six Episodes (40+ minutes each) Gamera Rebirth. So here's my Non Spoiler 2 Cents on it:
CONS
Not a fan of the choice of animation, I want to be clear on this - too stiffed and it feels like I'm watching stop motion, but in CGI. At times it is very noticeable.
Oh, and no Barugon.
Yeah! They've left our Boy out of the Reunion, Fellas. Really dirty of Kadokawa.
Another, and this did not click on me at first, outside of Gamera and Gyaos, the other Monsters don't retain their classical Roars.
While the redesigns are great for the most part, I would say Jiger was the weakest of the new looks, coming out looking more like Barugon - ironically - and had to be reminded Jiger had three horns adorn to it. Also, did not retain alll of his powers (Saliva Spear and Death Ray).
PROS
Still ... IT'S AMAZING.
If one would dare say, it feels like a major step up from Godzilla Singular Point, even though is not from the same studio.
I wonder whether the show runners took notice of the reaction both the Godzilla Monster Planet Anime Trilogy and Singular Point got and took it at heart to avoid its mistakes.
Infamously, The trilogy had really boring characters (specially the MC, which by movies 2 and 3 I skipped every scene he was in, that's how much I hated Haruo) and the sense of un-fulfillment (for the lack of a better word) with the monsters is something that lingers.
GSP while it had better characters to the trilogy and cool redesigns on the Kaiju, its major problem was it dragged too much with the scientific explanation which over took the little Kaiju action one got in each episode, as it well over promise on it and failed in its deliverance. Also, time shit-nanigans is not often the best thing for a plot (sorry, but I don't think anyone has yet beat Beast Wars TFs on this one).
All three issues one got with those takes on Godzilla, aren't present in Gamera Rebirth - again, the one major gripes is the choice of stiffed animation.
Characters are very likeable; The kids happened to be surprisingly the best part, considering how children had been the butt of jokes in the Gamera series; they happen to be enjoyable to sit through and follow, since they are key part of the whole plot.
The Story doesn't feel slow, the dialogue is never boring or forced, the expositions are on to point and don't dragged; on it, builds the very suspense to understand more on "what the hell is going on? why the monster are appearing?", and each episode is action pack with Kaiju battle, and all the Monsters redesigns were great, except for Jiger (again).
If Netflix had release this like a episode per week format it would be your standard Monster of the week show. Essentially they made three movies and divided each into 2 parts.
It knows when it needs to pic up the passe and when it needs to explains things. Its a refreshing take at Gamera while staying familiar and honoring the series roots. It delivers.
I give it a 9. Go watch it.

The Gryphon - Godzilla Found Footage
General | Posted 2 years agoReally cool fan made animation of the Gryphon fighting Zilla and Monsterverse Goji by a Youtube Channel Lost Utopia Films. So sharing it for everyone to enjoy here.
For those not familiar with the Gryphon, it was an alien Kaiju written for the defunct Godzilla 1994 film, the precursor project before Roland Emmerich's Godzilla 1998. The Monster was design by Director and Make up designer Stan Winston. The script and concepts were dropped due to cost for what would later be the 1998 Movie, which ironically costed more than the original 94 proposal.

Gremlins Secret of the Mogwai - My 2 Cents
General | Posted 2 years agoRemember the Three Rules?
Keep them away from the Bright Light.
Do not let them get Wet.
But most importantly; no matter how much it cries – no matter how much it begs – Never, ever, feed them after Midnight.
Oh! .. You didn't listen?
Well, here are My 2 Cents on MAX's new series, Gremlins Secrets of the Mogwai, an animated prequel to the 1984 Horror Comedy Gremlins and its more insane Sequel, Gremlins 2 the new Batch.
Premise...
The series is set in 1920 and tells the story of how Gizmo, a young Mogwai, is force out from his secret village in an eagle attack and falls onto the hands of a traveling circus and turns him into their latest performance, thus his meeting with 10 y/o Sam Wing – old Man Wing from the movies and Gizmo's keeper – in his home city of Shanghai.
After been rescue by Sam and his Grandfather – a former adventurer and treasure hunter with knowledge of the mystical, who identifies Gizmo for what it is and the danger that his kind represents – they planned to set out to take our lost Mogwai back to his home – the Valley of Jade – before disaster befalls China once more.
Unfortunately, our little friendly fur ball gets wet and spawns 4 new Evil Mogwai (Claw, Snout, Gaptooth and Noggin) and Sam is left on his own with Gizmo when an industrialist, Riley Greene, who also possess knowledge of the mystical and access to the Dark Arts to boot, takes his family as he seeks the little Mogwai for himself and has devious plans to use the now turned Gremlins, led by Claw.
Now Sam, Gizmo, and their ally Elle, must travel the length of China to reach the Valley of Jade and reunite our brave Mogwai with those of his kind while running from Greene, his Gremlins and any other Mystical creature that also seeks Gizmo for the secret: The Four Rule.
My Opinion...
After watching the four episodes release thus far, I say that we got here an interesting addition to Joe Dante's Gremlins, which doesn't use the weird idea of the Mogwai been alien creatures, as it was written by George Gripes for the novel back in 84, and that Dante wasn't too kin of, as he view the little fur balls and their malicious variants as Mystical creatures. Though one thing is kept, which is the bases for the Fourth Rule.
I, who had my doubts for this show, but reserve Judgement till I at least got to see as much Episodes, am pleased to say the show is really good – Spielberg and Dante did good; Not a solid 10, but a secure 8 for me, mostly because the first Episode is something of a slow burner, not bad to be fair, and things don't get really starting until the 2nd Episode, but WB feels confident with it and the fan reception, that a 2nd Season has been ordered. It doesn't shy away to show violence when it needs to which you would not think to expect for a show where kids and a little friendly furry creature are the main protagonists; I actually gasped with a mutilation scene and how the Gremlin takes joy in the suffering of the henchmen at every turn. So when it needs to be shown, it is done quite well, since this is a show aim to both kids, as well the fans of the films.
Also, we get the Dark Humor in the form of Greene consistently dehumanizing his henchmen, never referring them by name, but Henchman and a number, and he is blatantly honest about this. As main villain he is fun to watch, he will give a quick quip when doing so, but he is still one who will not tolerate excuses for failure and his way of showing punishment is unique. As quick as snack, if you will. Greene is voice by Mathew Rhys, and he does an excellent job on his role as the main villain.
Another really funny dark humor moment is when one of the Gremlins ... “volunteers” for something, doesn't end well for the poor bastard, yet he is still alive in his new jarring condition. I do hope he gets well😄
However, what about our two main human characters; Sam and Elle?
I'm please to say both are enjoyable and don't feel jarring in anyway, which can be a problem when it comes with putting kids as your main protagonist, but Sam and Elle passed my “Just Give us Good Characters, Please?” Test.
This is reflective in their upbringings which is the bases for their personalities and morals.
Sam is a hardworking child, who loves his family and was hoping for a future in learning from his mother's pharmaceutic education, but his Grandfather, concern that been under the wing (get it?) of his parents, would not allow him to travel the world and learn from it, like he did. Where as Elle, whose upbringings makes her know of the world's hardships which explains the path she took as a thief, but which also lead her to Greene and a never ending debt to pay with him.
These colliding personalities, born from opposite upbringings and motivations, is the subject of their friction, and yet is equally the key to their strength;
Sam's knowledge of herbs and chemistry, as well been the keeper of his Grandfather's journal which contains years of knowledge of the mystical, is complimented by Elle's agility, quick of wit and resourcefulness. Yet, when without the other, both can fall in trouble when facing Mystical creatures on their own. This odd team, born on their strength of the other's talents is the key to help Gizmo to make it home and which is also fired up by their own motivations; Sam's need to save his family, and Elle to be free from Greene. Simple, to the point, character motivations to root for - and you'll love them for that.
Both are voice by Izaac Wang and Gabrielle Nevaeh Green.
And of course, there is Gizmo, the star of the franchise - seeing him been happy in his home when he is snatch away, when trying to save other Mogwai, you can't feel but sorry for the little guy. Surprisingly, he is far more intrepid than his timid self from the movies - that's probably because the movies feature puppets and you had limitation on what they could do, where as in here, been animation, he is agile and jumping obstacles. Still you root for the little guy. It is disappointing to know Howie Mandel is not voicing the character this time, a bit unfortunate, but A.J. Locascio steps in for the role and thus a good job doing Gizmo voice.
Sitting back, I kinda felt a bit like I'm watching Goonies meets the Monster Squad the cartoon show and honestly, I was enjoying it, and already it gave me my favorite character thus far, and I hope we get to see more of him in the future and than that wasn't his final Bow.
Also, I did like some of the references it made, specially one which is related to a past work of the shows veteran actor, James Hong. You'll be quick to spot it. It escaped me, mostly because I hadn't seeing it in years.
The show also tries to be consistent with its own lore, while adding the Mystical stuff into it, as well the Fourth Rule - We got Gremlins, but they are not refereed to as such, since the term would not be coined by British Pilots until WWII and later adopted by Mr. Futterman for every single issue that would befall his equipment later in life (we love you, where ever you are Dick Miller) which Billy and the others adopted to referred to the final form. So Greene refers to them as Meaner Stronger Mogwai or Scaly one by another character.
The one single major change that differs from the movie is Gizmo's name; here is already called Gizmo (or Giz Mo), which contradicts the movie, as Randall Peltzer (Billy's father) named him with that when he bought him in 1984, yet Old man Wing never referred to the little guy as such but Mogwai, and if memory serves me, I think was a bit peeved when he learned they named him (a may be wrong on this, need to watch the movie again).
Also a bit off putting is when seeing Gizmo expose (indirectly) to sunlight at times, though he uses means to protect himself, like sheets, vent lids or been under the shades, but still, you would think when exposing to some level of sunlight would have him in Goopsville by now. However, it is consistent the New Batch, where Gizmo is seeing running down the street after the demolition in broad daylight before been taken by Doctors Lewis and Martin.
Forgot to add: Another change, is the Spawning of the Gremlins, which we saw in the trailers - Greene has one of the Gremlins wet and it spawns in a similar way to the Mogwai: little balls popping from the back (albeit fleshy than furry) rather than having the bubbly sacks of flesh that form on the back when a Gremlins spawns another one, and they can pop anywhere in the body that gets wet - in this case, the three new Gremlins come from the nose, which it was odd.
Still, these are a minor gripes and not enough to sour ones enjoyment of the show. The real only negative thing is the whole season its just 10 Episodes and WB is posting 2 a week - started last week and we are now up to four episodes in. So we'll be done with its run in three more weeks. I do hope season 2 gets more episodes.
In all, with a slow Episode starter, Gremlins Secrets of the Mogwai is a nice little addition to the Gremlins franchise, to keep us entice with the little Green Bastards and their never ending malicious quest to have a good time... At the expense of those humans, of course. Wouldn't be much of a Gremlins if they didn't.
8 out of 10, thus far, but enough to keep me around.
Now, I'll end this with these profound emotional words of wisdom.
*Ajum*
Gizmo ... CACA!!!!
Keep them away from the Bright Light.
Do not let them get Wet.

Please read - Cats will be on Short Hiatus for Revamp
General | Posted 2 years agoI'd been looking closely at the development of Chapter 12 specifically in the last three weeks and I had decided to stop moving forward with this iteration of said Chapter, not the story at hand - therefore, the planned Pg237 will not go up on Friday as I will recreate the Chapter with the existing Panels that have Felicio, Kat and Gunnar and rework from there.
While I was looking forward for a bit of background here, the development of the story as of late is coming below my expectations and I'm feeling dangerously burnout out by its drag - almost to the point is making me wanting to cancel the whole Cats comic all together. Considering the predicament Chelsea and Leon are in, what Ronfar has in mind, the expected arrival of the envoys from the Main Branch (the Outfit) and the planned confrontation of Kat and Kalee (yes that is still is happening, it one of the few things of the original script that will still be in), the way this story line sits with the current Chapter 12 is becoming more & more like Canto Bight - a MOST avoid situation when making a story.
So for the moment, Chapter 12 is on hold for a serious revamp, some, not all of the pages made will be removed, and when the new Cover is place up, the Revamp Chapter 12 will continue maintaining on the present focus that the story line was presenting thus far on The Garrino Crew trying to solve Chelsea's predicament and Leon's disappearance , and the Trappings of Ronfar and Thomas.

Netflix Gamera Rebirth Trailer
General | Posted 2 years agoThe trailer for Gamera Rebirth, due to come out on Netflix has been made public. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNh3aRBoCPg
Now, I've already had not made anyform of comments for this 6(8?) episode show, as I'm keeping myself reserve on this one - after the bad performance of the Godzilla Anime trilogy, mostly by its lack of Kaiju after the campaing and weak human characters, and the weirdness of Godzilla Singular Point insane time paradox plot even though I consider the Humans an improvement over those of the Trilogy - had made me quite reserve for the Gamera show until I saw a trailer, which has just been release, and GOD D*MMIT, the choice of Animation couldn't be a worst one.
Is essentially that cell (I think that's how its called? correct me please) CGI - for all the Human Characters and Kaiju - that when they move it looks like stop motion. I really hate this form of animation.
The Show better be flippig Good - Better than the foremention Godzilla Animes - because the choice of Animation is already a Minus 10 Points in my Score of 100 and watching the trailer I just couldn't overlook that fact.

Gonna have to pick up the passe of the Story
General | Posted 3 years agoGonna have to start double (or if may be triple) duty with Cats Comic.
Starting in November I will have to make at least 2 to 3 pages a week for the current story line. Currently Writing down Chapter 16, but the progress has been far slower than I wanted it to be - nowhere near what I would describe the 3rd act. Also, the Progress of the Comic feeling a bit of a slow passe, which I do not want, and this story line is expected to be a bit longer than the last one.
I might return to the 2 (to 3) pages uploads a week to maintain a fast passe. Want to avoid this story line running on a two mark like what happened with the last one, and that's not ignoring the spin off story for Kat that could develop here.

Super Mario Bros Movie Teaser Trailer
General | Posted 3 years agoMy 2 Cents: I genuinely had my concerns for Jack Black, but he sticks the voice of Bowser surprisingly well. Glad we started the trailer with him as his choice for Voice Actor was my one worry & I'm glad to say those worries have been put to rest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lScwfa32NdA

Checking In Tickle Comic reaching Conclusion next week
General | Posted 3 years agoIf all pans out, Roderick's tickle Comic, Checking In, will be completed by Saturday at the very least as only 2 Pgs are left to fully complete. This is far more earlier than my previous Tuesday goal that I messaged to someone last night. If I complete the Comic now as I hope, then the final 8 Pgs of Checking In will be going up on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
So to let you know (plausible) Checking In concludes next week.

Shin Ultraman opening - brief time only
General | Posted 3 years agoThis will be up for a limited time only - this is the opening sequence for Shin Ultraman, using the UltraQ theme song, and Kaiju featured in that series as, for what it seems, the reason for the formation of the SSSP, or the Science Patrol.
Best part if how they re touch Gomess ( https://ultra.fandom.com/wiki/Gomess ) the very first Kaiju of the Ultra franchise, making it look like Shin Godzilla. Of course, ShinUltra was directed and written by the same team as that movie, but is a nod to the connection Gomess has with the Big G, as the suit used for Gomess was from a Godzilla Suit - indeed his debut episode was November 3rd, Godzilla's Birthday in Japan.
This would be one of the many instances how Toho and Tsuburaya retain a close relation, via Eiji Tsuburaya himself, that persists to this day

Lotta issues with Kat in the last Chapter
General | Posted 3 years agoSeems people are having - understandably - issue with Kat's ungratefulness seen in the recent Chapter. This was both a by product of the changes of Character Dynamics and the Rush-ness for which this Chapter was made.
For the 2nd point, as it is brief: Chapter 7 was an unplanned Chapter, made on a rush because in the transpiring events of the next arc to follow while writing that script, despite having been given new financial help from her family by the end of the Phone Call Chapter, Kat no longer has the Apartment; this Chapter was made to reflect what the hell happened - now yes, I maybe should had Felicio just slap the door on her face getting back at her, but this did not occur to me and I could only make this one as long as it needed to be, as the next Arc has been pushed now 4 times (not counting the Hiatus I took) - the first was when Chapter 3 became too long and half of it became Chapter 4, the Phone Call & the Tina/Mary Chapters (the only ones planned) & the Apartment Chapter, which was made literally in the last few months, because I made reference to it in the still working Script.
Now, in regards to the first Point, her Smug Ungratefulness, is something that is kind the direct consequence of my decision of changing the Character Dynamics for this reboot: the Kat from the old Cats 9 Lives was Cherry Dispositional by the time she meets Felicio because she went through hell and revival: the Hell of her relation with Ronfar and her revival by the Intervention by Cole - this doesn't happened here, as she doesn't meet Ronfar until she comes to Town, and thus no Cole - this change is why Cole, for now, was remove from this reboot. Suffice to say, Kat is here on a mission sent by her family, and wasn't playing at the level with everyone.
We have seen Kat play at the backs of the other Characters already :
When she sneaks away in Chapter3 Pgs 46 https://www.furaffinity.net/view/38452171/ 47 https://www.furaffinity.net/view/38468125/ to search for the Diamond her Grandfather buried on the island.
Then attempts to do so again in Pgs 78 https://www.furaffinity.net/view/41200364/ & 79 https://www.furaffinity.net/view/41266741/ after seemingly saving Felicio but tries to escape, before been cut out by Ronfar.
Again, the Phone Call Chapter, where she makes a private call to her family while no one was looking and during the call, refers to Felicio as Dumb Musclebound Mariner https://www.furaffinity.net/view/44059012/
But her opportunist side will come in if it is a way out of Jam: we saw this in Chapter 4 where her whole fight with Tina for the box was pre-planned out of desperation to get out her tickle torture session and Gunnar's demands for answers in Chapter 3 (Pgs 61 to 66 https://www.furaffinity.net/view/39773876/ ) - but her back stabbing nature kick in again when she tried to run away the 2nd time while she still had that deal with Tina, doing so for her own survival.
This Kat, is morally dubious - perfect for what I have, and will be treacherous if the circumstances and opportunity demands it - after all, she was here on a mission from her Family that goes South by Felicio's war with the Sheriff, Tina and of course Kalee stealing the diamond. Suffice to say, she is a big city girl now stuck in a backwaters small coastal town, on the other side of the country, control by a corrupt Sheriff, until she finds her even more of a backstabbing sister.
All I will say is this - the series of events that transpire in the next arc, opens the door for a lot of consequences - but you have to be patient with this series as it will be a slow grind, and so is character growth and the next arc has more chapters than I would expect, and currently I'm stuck just few passage in Chapter 12.
So yeah, Long Haul here Lads.
