telling someone to not to be or act offended when no offense has occured is a lot more offensive than continuing on with your argument and debating opinions with this person. when you tell someone not to get offended by your opinion, you're basically assuming that this person is a. unreasonable, b. caustic, or c. very sensitive, which aren't exactly positive words that anyone truly would like to accept for themselves.

if you think someone is going to be offended by your opinion, you're left with two options; 1. shut up. 2. put on your manpanties and deal with it like any other rational person; ignore them- their upsettitude is not your perrogative[unless of course you were a raging asshat, but I'm pretty sure I need not have to add such sidenotes to this]. otherwise, you're just insulting someone and their integrity, regardless of whether or not your intentions were well meant.

and in the world of manners and social graces[I've seen quite a few people use this as an excuse], it's actually considered to be quite rude and belittling.

so I'm not supposed to be doing this, but.
both of my bosses are away for the next two weeks.
I am the only one currently in my quadrant; everyone else is out looking at bridges.
I /really/ don't feel like having to correct work that should have been done properly in the first place-



-it is truly amazing how someone else incorrectly filling in the bridge location box with the bridge structure type on the inspection reports can burn through several hours of your time[in that I have to refill out the front pages, print off that page and replace it on the report, or in some cases, actually fill out the report]. unfortunately, today, I lack the drive necessary to fully commit myself to this and these types of things are why I typically, try to complete these tasks on my own. some of our newest hires just. don't get it and aren't at all thorough in their work or seemingly capable of thinking beyond the basic set of instructions. I suppose it just bothers me in that when I first arrived here, I had to teach myself to do everything I do around here, from using the software to learning the inspection standards and terminology; there was no one available to teach me. I suppose I just come from an apparently old school of thought that says that you work hard for what you want, as opposed to simply waiting for it to fall in your lap.

...not that I particularily want to be involved with this line of work or doing what I do. I just keep coming back because they keep asking me and the pay is seriously, and I mean seriously, ten times better than what I'd get paid at McDicks or even any call center and I need the money for school and flight training. I'll climb over and crawl under every bridge in this province if it means getting there.

even it means no longer looking forward to weekends because they're just an indication that a week of inspections are just two days away. or that I'm spending a great deal of time away from my partner who doesn't even live here.

and one of the fans in this building sounds very, very creepily like someone's muffled sobbing. or its Beaker from the Muppets in the midst of a highly emotional conversation. I'm not sure if this is an improvement or is just worse the usual squeak of a high speed hamster wheel.

I would be able to go home at a decent hour.
I wouldn't feel too burnt out to draw- talk, even.
I would be able to use my work computer without all activity being monitored and having to explain why I sent an email from Hotmail during lunch.
I wouldn't have to earn a university degree to become a pilot.
I would be able to balance life ontop of business ontop of work.
I wouldn't have to wake up every morning feeling like crap.
I wouldn't have to make up lists like this to burn through a five minute break while hiding my phone. All because someone had to ruin it for the rest of us and put their precious texting ahead of doing their work. Which coincidentally, I have to do anyway since nothing is actually completed or even remotely correct.

a little, though less known fact; I've wanted a Cintiq for years, but never could truly afford one or really justify it once I was given my Graphire. but since it is only three or four weeks of wages for me to outright buy one, my Graphire is tiny, old, and I can't seem to buy new nibs for my stylus/the stylus itself should be replaced, I'd like to have some honest opinions about them.

evenmoreso if you have a newer model with the touch capabilities; one issue I've always had with anything with a touch screen, is that the device drivers aren't always able to differentiate between what is the stylus and what is my hand. this is further compounded since side of my hand is in constant contact with the drawing surface.
