PPG X EP 5... why it took so long?
Posted 11 months agoHonestly, these things are getting longer, but in this instance I feel justified in the length - its stupid to think that GIVEN the length, but I just didn't want to leave anything out or split it! Many old ideas I had got recycled, new ideas that took shape as I wrote got implemented... and ten frustrating minutes of using an AI acronym generator nearly had me put my fist through the screen.
The story basically follows the aftermath - hence the name - of episode 4 and all its repercussions in their various forms such as the personal ones from actions both from before and during episode 5 as well as the introduction of a VERY poorly utilised set of bad guys from Generator Rex as the main ones for this story; the Consortium.
I know these probably stories don't really appeal to everyone, but I'm hoping for those who give them a read enjoy my adaptation of them, Providence, and also the inclusion of a few favourites of mine from the marvels that are Villanous and the sorely missed Sym-bionic Titan.
So, for those who like superhero stories, enjoy Aftermath.

TMNT the Last Ronin - a fan shows Bay how its done!
Posted 3 years agoSeriously, whoever made this should be allowed to shoot Michael Bay in the face.
This is the film we TMNT fans deserve... too bad its just a short animation project.

Primal... oh my god... (no... okay, one spoiler)
Posted 3 years agoDon't worry, I am not spoiling the plot for anyone who hasn't watched this yet or hasn't got round to it - still got two seasons of Cobra Kai to watch myself - but there is just one thing I want to say about this excellet piece of animation.
How the FUCK can this American cartoon have more gore in it than an 80s OVA anime!? I thought the likes of Genocyber had blood! Genocyber has a scene where a guy tear his own head open and the aftermath of a vivisection with the guy waking up to see it, three kids get viscerally torn apart by gatling gun fire and a dude's brain, organs and bones explode out of his mouth as a kind of death worm ... and Primal has it beat.
Seriously, this series is one of the most vicseral, blood-soaked gory things I've seen and is hands down one of the best things I've watched in a while. It didn't try to go over the bar for quality of story telling and animation... it tore the bar down, mauled it to death and then ate it.
Watch it. Just... just watch it.

PPG Episode 4... and a rant.
Posted 4 years agoOkay, I just really need to get something off my chest here when it comes to writing, and its probably something I share with other writers who are probably better than I am at handling this particular problem... but whenever I get ahead of myself in what I want to write, I get stuck there.
Basically it happened like this. I had the end fight in mind for PPG Ep 4, one of those massive all-on-one bad guy brawls where he owns the heroes, and because of that I couldn't think of a single thing to get me there! Creative juices blocked and slowing me to a crawl, all because the only thing I could think was that! With the other episodes it was easy since I was rebooting the series, I could work within what I wrote making tweaks and adding new stuff to it or remove bits I didn't like. This version of episode 4 was almost all new stuff save for a new minor elements storyline wise, but I have finally finished it in readiness for Episode 5.
Now, I highly doubt it'll be received any better than the other stories, given that this is an adult art site, but I hope those who do read it like it - I know that these stories have been getting longer and that can put people off, but I am a huge fan of the original series and of Cartoon Network shows in general.
I'm sorry about the rant everyone, and for PPG fans either OG or reboot, I hope you like Episode 4.

Inspiration from unlikely places - thank you, Witch Bunny...
Posted 5 years agoThe other night I posted my third PPG X reboot, and today I've been looking for ideas for new characters since I want to introduce some original heroes. For anyone whose read the original, that involved the Arches Triad. For the reboot, so far that's only Blazing Amber... but she's not really a hero. She's pretty much just been told what a superhero is and been left to it, not to mention that she doesn't really save... well, anyone.
So, to counter this I wanted to come up with a two man fledgling hero team... I've had a few idea in the past for that, but nothing really worked for me... and then, this came up on my Youtube recommendations.
The minute I saw these two characters, I had my inspiration for my new heroes Simone Labelle/Usagi and Tobias Neri/Nabi. I'm going to make them very grassroots style heroes too; no experience, homemade - or generated through his powers in Nabi's case - costumes, and no idea what they're doing but at their hearts just wanting to do the right thing without wanting accolades.
So, thank you Youtube, and more importantly thank you Fernanda Dias for the sheer beauty that is Witch Bunny.

Harley Quinn Ep 11 - what did I just see?
Posted 5 years agoI like DC comics, been a fan of their animated stuff since the 90's Batman cartoon, my favourite movie as a little kid was Tim' Burton's Batman (sensing a theme here) and so on and so forth... recently, Harley Quinn came out.
Okay, to be honest, I wasn't a big fan of the trailers. I mainly tuned in to episode 1 to hear Katey Cucao drop F-bombs, but I liked what I watched so I kept watching. Turns out its basically a DC cartoon meets Venture Bros in levels of seriousness and I love the Venture Bros, seen every episode of that, so I was basically hooked by two episodes.
Now we're at ep 11, and I just saw Sy Borgman rather painfully turn into Turbo Teen... well, Turbo Senior Citizen, and laughed my ass off as he transformed into a heavily armed station wagon. If you haven't watched it yet, you have to watch Harley Quinn.
Seriously, go watch it... or at least the scene which is below.

WAlking Dead Final Season - left me feeling content
Posted 6 years agoNo spoilers, this is just me saying how I feel; the final episode of the Walking Dead adventure game came out today, just finished playing it... and I am content.
Unlike some episodic adventure games, the final season had something they didn't; genuine investment in the true main character, Clementine. We protected and taught her as Lee in season 1, shaped her in season 2 whilst holding to what we as Lee taught her, season 3... eeh, the less said about "Walking Dead; the let-down", the better...
And in season 4; full circle, Clem becomes Lee and we teach AJ... to shoot a skunk-mullet hybrid wearing dickhead through the skull!
Whoops...
Its been a 75% of a good run for the series, and it was good to see the journey come to a close on a high note... for me, at least. I don't know how others have played it, and its early days to see if some of the end results I got were gotten by others. All I know is this; Walking Dead left me feeling content, and happy to have been part of Clem's journey.
Bye, Clem.

Tales of Arcadia - Don't think... become.
Posted 6 years agoJust finished binge-watching Trollhunters after learning of and watching 3below, and I have to say... it is brilliant.
Its an excellent blend of humour and action, though not without a few episodes I found myself skipping through the parts I didn't like - few and far in between - but there wasn't a single character in it I didn't like.
The Tales of Arcadia is definitely worth the watch if you have time off in what remains of the festive season, and I love the fact that the whole of Trollhunters was dedicated to Anton Yelchin - the original voice acter of its main character, who sadly died about 2 1/2 years ago - not to mention the fact that Kelsey Grammer is in the cast too, also awesome.
Also, love the fact that "one third of being a Trollhunter is kicking someone in the nards"... and that is an actual quote from the show, no lie.

BEHOLD! MORE TENTACLES, BITCHES!
Posted 7 years agoYes, it is done! Tentacle, Bitches! 4 is written, ready and ready to induce blindness!
I apologise to fans of the last three for the long hiatus in the series, believe it or not I had a lot of false starts with this one as no idea seemed good enough to follow through on... but here and now, three years later - again, sorry for that - the next part is here!
I hope you all enjoy this and that it was worth the wait since its announcement a few months ago. For what I have next in mind, I'm keeping a tight lip on but here's a clue, its hidden in this story - its not official, but just something I have in mind that has potential for me.
And now... I sleep. Good night everybody.

ARGH!!
Posted 7 years ago02/10/2018 11:43 PM GMT, I almost gave myself a heart attack.
I'm watching Next Gen for the god-knows-teenth time (seriously, watch the movie) whilst typing Tentacles, Bitches 4, where with a single errant keystroke I almost DELETED everything - not what I had just written, literally the whole thing! I literally think my heart stopped for a second, I couldn't hit undo fast enough.
So, that happened, and for anyone wondering, the story's about... ooh, 2/3s to 3/4s done at the aforementioned point in time and I'm liking what I'm writing. Can't really say how much longer it'll take, but it shouldn't be much longer.

Next Gen
Posted 7 years agoJust watched the film, and I have to say its a pretty good watch.
The plot might be a little basic at points, but it has a very strong vibe about what it is that makes a person. Are we simply the sum of our memories, or is it how these memories shape our responses that decides that? What kind of memories are more valuable than others, is it the good ones or the bad?
That is what one character pretty much has to decide on a regular basis or die, but its what he decides to do in the end to sacrifice his memories to protect the very person that made those memories so special to him... it simply made the fight at the end of the movie (its a film about robots, there's usually a fight scene at the end of it for one reason or another) that makes it all the more epic.
Animation wise; bleh. Story wise; a good watch. Moral wise; we are more than our memories, don't let the bad ones stop you from making good ones.
Also, main character's voiced by Charlyne Yi who voices Ruby in Steven Universe, so there's that too.

RIP PC 201?-2018... oh, and "Tentacles, Bitches 4" bitches!
Posted 7 years agoMy PC died the other week, just crapped out on me ironically the very night before I intended to order its replacement the next morning - some timing. Unfortunately in the bad news column it took the internal hard drive with it - completely unrecoverable and inaccessible, everything that was on it is pretty much gone.
So... yeah, that happened.
In the good news column however, I had recently my most important stuff to my external hard drive in readiness for the purchase so all I really lost was some music I can easily relocate, pics I can easily download and stuff I never really used so not so bad. The only thing I'm saddened I lost was a new updated parts from some things I was writing... such as what's in the journal title!
That's right, for anyone who liked the first three and can still see, I am FINALLY working on the fourth installment after two years - frankly, coming up with an idea was tough, but now I have it thought out and mapped so the wait begins! For anyone who is a fan of them, I'm sorry for the gap between them but frankly it was harder to come up with an idea, and after several starts and stops on a few I just had to step back... that was around about last halloween, and the idea just burned out.
Now, I have an idea, and I'm loading it into a Max Max-mobile and driving it home... and not any normal Max Max-mobile, its the Shellraiser from Raphael: Mutant Apocalypse which I also suggest watching and then building a little shrine to it and blood sacrificing something to - when I showed it to my brother last Xmas, the only thing he hated about it was having to go home before getting to see it from start to end!
So... rest in peace my old PC, and thank you for your years of service... honoured with a written mouth-trumpet.

Samurai Jack - Samurai... drop!
Posted 8 years agoYes, season 5's been on for a while, but the episode I've been waiting on just came - a look back on the past feats of Samurai Jack from the Woolies up to the Sam-u-rai and how he affected them. I'm especially loving the fact that Ashi was the focus of the episode, seeing for herself what kind of person Jack truly is - the ladybug bit a few episodes back showed us his character, but this one in my opinion shows us his soul.
I especially liked seeing the rave kids and Olivia again... here's the video to that clip.
I did the "S", did you?

PPG Reboot - my PPG that is.
Posted 8 years agoI watched the original PPG cartoons when I was a kid, I liked them. I've seen a few of the reboot, I like it too - Manboy's a bit much but he does make me laugh, kind of reminds of Ultimoose from Yin Yang Yo!
When I heard about the reboot though, it made me want to reboot my stories. So I did, I intend to do just that, and have just finished the first. The first is done! Its got the bits and characters I didn't like removed, with new scenes and extended scenes to flesh it all out and I do like what I've written.
Its a little long, and I don't think they were exactly popular but who knows. Besides, rebooting made more sense than continuing - I couldn't come up with a good idea for no. 5 but I didn't want to give up, this way I can take a new approach.
If you like it, that's awesome. If you don't, that's awesome too. That isn't going to stop me from writing more. Like Waspinator... Gemini have planzzzz...

Star Wars rebels - THRAWN!
Posted 9 years agoI've always been more of a Star Trek guy than a Star Wars guy, I grew up on Next Generation and DS9 was my favourite of the shows, however I love Star Wars Rebels... and now I have more reason to.
Like it says up there. THRAWN! He's in season three, one of the best Legends characters is now canon!
He's the man with the plan, taking 'know thy enemy' to the limit when it comes to strategy and isn't above using a good idea just because it wasn't his. The empire in the show is too brute force in that department, who better than him to shake things up a little along with showing some ACTUAL leadership rather than simply passing the buck like every empire-based bad guy so far.
Speaking of brute force, for anyone who played Star Wars: Dark Forces watch the trailer very carefully, the Dark Troopers are making a comeback too.

Happy Belated New year... now watch One Punch Man!
Posted 9 years agoFirst off, like the journal title says, Happy belated New Year...
That said... go watch One Punch Man! Seriously, its one of the best anime released in years. Awesome action, great humour and has one of the coolest protagonists I've seen in... anything! The stories online, not overrated hype.
No spoilers, just go watch and make up your own minds... just give it more than the first episode before you make any judgements, some of the best animes take a few episodes to build traction.

Life is Strange - the wait is on!
Posted 10 years agoA few months back I put up a journal about Life is Strange, the beyond good adventure game by Dontnod Entertainment, and my opinions about its time travel mechanics - namely the effects that said time travel has upon history. Well, episode 5 was given a release date of October 20th and I'm happy, sad and mad about that; happy because I love the game's story and characters, mad about the wait and sad because its the last episode.
With this in mind I've been thinking about how I play it, and the story that unfolds as a result. The way I'm playing the game kind of takes it down the path of a love story more than a mystery, with the relationship I formed between Max and Chloe taking centre stage more than the rest of it. Seeing the alternate Chloe was hard, but it further proved to me that no matter the timeline that the two belong together more than anyone... which is why the ending of episode 4 nealy crushed me, watching what happened made actually cover my mouth in shock and horror.
For episode 5 I am praying for a way to save her, October 20th can't get here soon enough.
PriceField forever.

Life is Strange - don't f*ck with time (SPOILERS FOR EP. 3)
Posted 10 years agoTime travel; such a worn out concept in gaming, its rare that when time travel is involved as a major mechanic in a game that it's actually done right... namely in that its very rare that the consequences of time travel are really delved into.
On that subject Life is Strange just jumped the shark. as a quote from Hitchcock just went from meaningful insight to foreshadowing in the form of some Red Dwarf photographic time travel. In the first two episodes you're just jumping backwards a few moments over and over and... over again, that doesn't really affect time all that much having a reset button for your screw ups, but at the end of episode three however you jump back several YEARS and end up changing all of history from then on.
It even shows the ripple effect from that changed moment all the way back to the new present day with a full on Butterfly Effect changing everything and everyone. This is then immediately capped by the fact that the creepy end of the world stuff in the game is still happening, except now you're facing it alone since your pissed off sidekick is now happy, in a wheelchair and therefore pretty much useless... yay.
Don't fuck with time, especially the past. The present and the future, fair game, but leave the past in the past otherwise you end up screwing everything up. Multiple shitty time travel movies should have taught us that by now.
Simply put: when it comes to time travel watch your step, you never know when a butterfly might land beneath your foot.

Cross Ange
Posted 10 years agoIts very rare for me to form such a strong opinion on an anime, but Cross Ange is worth it. It has characters you'll love, a fairly decent storyline once it kicks off and a bad guy that will really make your skin crawl and wish to have horrible things happen to him simply because, despite being fictional, he fucking deserves it.
Its your typical mecha-vs-monster anime in the beginning, but as you learn more about the history of the world its set in it becomes a lot more interesting, going for the throat with plot twists and jaw dropping moments that'll hook and reel you in. There are moments that'll disgust you but not with gore, but with what kind of world it's set in and what kind of people live there, it'll really make you think about how disgusting and petty prejudice really is - for that last point it simply boils down to the very basis of prejudice itself; I hate you, because you're not the same as me.
Watch it. For the love of god just watch it, then pray for uncensored episodes with fan-subs because you know that the official dub will suck and will murder the dialogue.
Its your typical mecha-vs-monster anime in the beginning, but as you learn more about the history of the world its set in it becomes a lot more interesting, going for the throat with plot twists and jaw dropping moments that'll hook and reel you in.
