I’m mostly recovered thanks to lots of sleeping. Monday did not really exist for me as I spent it comatose including forcing myself to stay in bed and sleep even though Part of me didn’t want to. My experiment with having an electrostim device on my hand to help keep pain at bay seems to have worked, but I had also spent some time before Kitties streamlining my work area to make it as ergonomic as possible. The result is that my hand is not in a fraction of the agony as it was last year, although I also didn’t spend the days before Kitties cramming on an art project like last year either which probably helped.
(FYI, the electrostim device is here: http://amzn.to/2yTHdzN and I got the idea after learning that one was being used on Li’ll Bub the cat and it helped give her a great deal more mobility. I figured what the heck.)
There’s so many people I need to thank and I’m sure to forget folks.
Firstly, many thanks to Furryneko for supplying us with all the delicious meats and snacks and for donating the mask and the badge. They were the two most popular items we had in the raffle.
Thank you Akkarri who donated dozens of games. Many games were also donated by Wardog and Stratovarian. I have many more to give away and I’ll work my way through them.
Thank you Arty/Ryan for the raffle site. His hard drive exploded the week of Kitties and he rebuilt the whole thing right then and there for us.

Gaming for Kitties in a Month!
General | Posted 8 years agoSo, with October looming on the horizon I should start getting more details about Gaming for Kitties out there. Hopefully you folks have seen our ad on FA pop up, and if not, keep an eye open! The mediocre web page I cobbled together is still up and functional at http://www.little-tales.com/kitties/ as well. And please note the ‘Merch’ page. I spoke with Carole Baskin at BCR and gave her our logo to do with as she pleased and she had merchandise ready within a couple of days. I bought a shirt for myself and can tell you the printing is really nice, and we don’t see a penny of the profits. It all goes to BCR.
I have about a hundred Humble Bundle codes and will start giving out prizes in October to build up momentum, but the main event will happen October 28-29. I go by eastern time but the web page has a handy little timer if you want to know when things will start exactly. Basically whenever it officially becomes October 28 here in Orlando.
There will be multiplayer slots auctioned off, but this year I am going to try auctioning them off during Kitties. We’ve had trouble coordinating people in the past who won slots but who were unable to get together at the same time as other people who won, so instead we’re going to have an auction during the marathon for time slots and see how that goes, or maybe just “sell” multiplayer slots outright for donations.
We have the movie list prepped for Fox to watch while she’s here, and remember that your donations will be the fuel for her torture. Those of you wondering what I mean specifically, for every $2,000 donated Fox will have to watch a bad movie, and for every $1,000 donated by a specific person, that person will get to either save her from a movie or pick one from the list. My only request is that if it is something that requires mailing to just hold onto it and let me give you the address to mail it to just for efficiency’s sake and to give me less to keep track of. I might even shoot you money to help with shipping if you need me to.

For some reason last year folks thought that ‘no stress’ meant ‘OMG TEH DRAMAZ NAO!’ literally hours before the marathon started and those folks got to meet mister permaban. Please don’t do this. Update!
General | Posted 8 years agoWe weathered Irma and BOY am I grateful we just got the roof replaced. Irma beat the crap out of the maple tree in my back yard but it's still standing, just minus a lot of leaves and branches. There's shingles around but we don;t know if they're ours or not. Most of the roughest winds came from the south, and the south side of my house is shielded by another house which took the brunt of things.
But we got through it alright. There's a curfew in place for today while they clean the roads up and lots of places without power but life will start to get back to normal this week.

Bunkering Down
General | Posted 8 years agoOkay guys, last update before I start shutting down and bunkering in properly.
Irma is skirting the gulf coast which is about seventy miles west from me give or take. This may seem like a good thing considering it was originally going to barrel straight up the middle of the state straight over me or hit me closer from the Atlantic coast but actually it can do more damage this way as we’re now going to get hit by the strong side instead of the weak one.
Projections currently show it getting rough late this afternoon and growing worse into the evening and letting up around noon on Monday. Obviously I don’t know for sure if I’m going to lose power or not but it’s probably going to happen. When it happened with Charley we were back up within a day but were without internet for a week. But I’ll do what I can to make sure folks know I’m okay.
Just know that I am not in a flood zone or in the path of the worst of it. My house is protected and we just recently replaced our roof. We have food and water and we can manage just fine. But please keep us in your thoughts and prayers none the less. Also remember the folks on the gulf coast that are taking the brunt of this, and keep the kitties at Big Cat Rescue in your thoughts as they’re in Tampa and in the path of Irma as well.

The Irma Post

First, the best place to track the status of a hurricane is the national hurricane center. You can access it at http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ and it shows you all active hurricanes at the time.
Irma’s biggest danger is wind. Harvey was a freak in that it slung buckets of water around to the point that they had to rewrite the rainfall scale. Irma doesn’t have rainfall that bad but it does have wind from hell, and that will be the biggest factor for me. Currently NOAA seems to be showing Irma slowing down when it hits land which is a good thing for me.
But before I go into the good things for me, I would like to ask for people to please keep the folks in South Florida and the people on the coast and keys in your prayers and good thoughts. They’re the ones taking the brunt of this and are going to be the ones suffering the most damage. Hurricanes fresh from the ocean or the gulf are the strongest and Miami and the southern coast is going to take more damage than I will.
I live in Central Florida. If you look on the map at the NOAA site I live slightly right of the ‘L’ on the ‘FL’ marking on the Florida map (If you have trouble navigating the site and can't find the right map, just click here for the graphic and you'll see it: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/storm_graph.....e_and_wind.png ). As of 5AM it looks like Irma will have downgraded itself from a major hurricane to a normal one by the time it hits here, and I’m hoping that the trend of it slowing and growing more weak will continue. Sometime today the men are going to board up the windows of my house and we’ll prepare to hunker down. I have food and water and we’ll be fine. Remember that I lived here when Charlie and his two friends all hit us in the span of a few months and I weathered it alright. I’ll get through this.
Barring any problems, the Overlord stream will continue this Saturday but on Sunday I will probably be scarce as I make final preparations. I will probably become more scarce Sunday afternoon as I expect the wind to knock the power out. The last time this happened we were down for about a day, but some folks were without for about two weeks so it all depends. I’ll update as I can in that department as well.
But for now I am prepared and I will be fine. I’ll try and post updates on my Twitter as much as I can which you can see here: https://twitter.com/littletales

Megaplex in the bag, now for KITTIES!!!
General | Posted 8 years agoMegaplex has passed and I am recovering. I am going to baby my hand and thumb and hopefully I'll have non-painful function of it again soon. right now it's pretty mad at me but I'm an old pro at pampering my hand.
It was wonderful seeing all of you and many of you for the first time. I look forward to next year! And by the way, next year's theme is "The Furnesian Islands" which is a Hawaiian theme. For obvious reasons, Fox is exploding with joy.
But with Megaplex in the bag it's not time to focus on Gaming for Kitties!

Megaplex is almost here!

DO come up and talk if you want to or hang with the other Little Tales folks.
DON’T block my table for an extended period of time, or zip right back to that spot when I ask you to move to let customers in.
DO ask me about the work I do with Fox, the characters we've come up with, and other silly things.
DON'T treat me like Fox's secretary. Several people have come to me asking me to talk to her because of something they did that upset her. I'm not her mother or her boss. It's disrespectful to the both of us.
DO peruse my wares and Fox’s wares as well!
DON’T help me sell them. I have NEVER made a sale off of someone saying “Buy something!” to a stranger on my behalf. Let me work, you hang out. Beside, you’re on vacation! Enjoy yourself!
DO keep me company during the day and quiet moments and ask if I need anything.
DON’T follow me to my room, pester me for my cell number, or stalk me to see where I’m going or what I’m doing after the den closes. I’m not having room parties. I’ve had to change my number due to folks passing it around. And I can’t get the tons of homework done with people constantly hovering over me in my room and bumping me while I’m trying to hold a pen and pencil steady.
DO commission me, discuss art, and ask me about Megaplex.
DON’T try to get gossip out of me about Megaplex, the staff, or con goings on. Just because you’re friends with staff does not mean I’m going to tell confidential things to you. There’s a reason why I’ve held this position for over fifteen years, the staff trusts me and I’m not going to break that trust.
DO talk to me about writing Fox’s comic or the gamestreams. They’re fun and I love talking shop with people.
DON’T pester me about bringing back the art streams. It’s just salt in the wound over the fact that my hand is a wreck. You’re not making me feel guilty, you’re reminding me that I can’t do something I love like I used to and might as well just call me out as a cripple. I draw just fine at Megaplex because I’m on painkillers and have babied my wrist for months. But I usually need a few months to recover afterwards, especially if I want my hand to be functional for Kitties in October.
DO give me space if I need it. I am dealing with a much larger room than I ever have before for Megaplex and will probably have people literally screaming in my face and trying to start crap with me. This is why my room is not a party place. It’s where I calm down and de-stress. I fake it really well but I’m an introvert. Socializing is draining. Solitude recharges me.
DON’T poke me repeatedly in an attempt to be silly when I’m in an obvious bad mood. Don’t pester me if I tell you no regarding something. I don’t want to snap at a friend.
Basically, keep in mind that not only am I there as a dealer, I'm there as a team lead and this is the biggest dealer's room Megaplex has had yet. I want it to go well and I need folks to make my job easier, not harder.

DON’T poke me repeatedly in an attempt to be silly when I’m in an obvious bad mood. Don’t pester me if I tell you no regarding something. I don’t want to snap at a friend.
Basically, keep in mind that not only am I there as a dealer, I'm there as a team lead and this is the biggest dealer's room Megaplex has had yet. I want it to go well and I need folks to make my job easier, not harder.

2017 Things! Kitties! Megaplex!
General | Posted 9 years agoOkay guys, with a new year going on and time flying I might as well talk about the two big things happening this year.
Megaplex is go! The theme this year is “Megaquest: The Wrath of Con” which is an homage to the sci-fi actors we lost last year. Think campy scifi like Star Trek and Galaxy Quest. In April I will open up badge preorders so I will have plenty of time to make them this time around. I kept stubbornly refusing to admit that my health problems have slowed me down a little but now I’m taking care and trying to get things back in order. And I’ll also be starting extra early so things go a little more smoothly.
My plan for badges this year is to do the normal ones, and like last year do a special edition that fits the theme. This year that special thing will be badges with holographic film so the image has a translucent sparkly effect.

Gaming for Kitties 2017 is very much going to happen and is already in planning. I would once again like to deeply thank Arty for programming our raffle page and making it the beautiful thing it is. Seriously dude, that thing saved my life.

New Years Stream Coming Up!
General | Posted 9 years agoJust a quick little reminder that at the end of the month on New Years Eve we are doing another gaming marathon for funzies. This is not a charity marathon like Kitties, but is mostly a way for folks with no plans to spend the New Years to have some place to go to enjoy themselves and have their own party with folks without leaving their homes.
But similar to Kitties, I will be gaming and Fox will be doing the Court Reporter thing. The games will be Undertale and Alan Wake, but we will also try to get the multiplayer slots that we missed during Kitties finished out. If we can't get everyone together at the same time we'll still try to get something going. I'll get the people who are available and we'll go from there if it comes down to it.
It will happen on December 31 Eastern starting at 6PM. The First New Years technically will happen about twelve hours before that, but I don't think I can handle at 5AM start.

Kitties is Over, onto New Years!
General | Posted 9 years agoLast I checked the Kitties total came out to $12,345. We're a little down from last year but everyone, myself included, were hit with financial problems in the past year so I'm not disappointed at all. We broke 10k which is really my main goal. Everything else is gravy and we did get plenty of gravy.
Jaezel, Akkarri, and Starknights are still owed multiplayer slots. We just couldn't get a time where everyone was available during the marathon so we'll try and get that done at a later time when everyone is available. I'm sorry for the delay.
Many many prizes were given away. And Arty's raffle page was invaluable to us all. I'm glad you enjoyed it and I'm grateful to the few of you who tipped him for his trouble.
There will probably be a few more court reporter pictures popping out, and the only snag there was that someone decided to use the raffle form to request fetish artwork that had nothing to do with the marathon. Said person has been banned and for the most part folks behaved. I'm glad you guys liked the form I made and we'll use it for future streams.
I will need time to recover and I am also currently revisiting my doctor about my hand. My wrist is still not supporting my weight like I feel it should and my thumb will hurt randomly for no reason. The recent weight loss is helping but I need to lose a bit more and try and get my health back in order. And since someone decided to drama bomb me right before the marathon I once again need to remind people that another aspect of my ability to make it through these things is to please refrain from dropping stress on me before and during the marathon. Next year I think I'm just going to start blocking people on the various social medias if it happens.
I felt the fact that my health has tanked in the past year every moment of this stream and I need to continue to try and get myself in better shape so I can continue to do these. On the good side though, I think I can say that I have recovered a LOT faster than I have in previous years as well. I'm still sore and tired and such, but I was able to walk around the mall and go out and do things yesterday.
Anywho though, There are far too many people to thank but I'll try. Thank you Blackwater, Akkarri, Sofox, Stratovarian, and many others for your flood of steam games you all donated. We had a lot of popular stuff this year and a lot of things people really were itching for. Also thanks to Stubat for the arcade cabinets, Kazzy for the huggy whales, Shupshie for the tablet, Witchie for the L4D2 wingman duty, and so many other people who helped. We fed us, bolstered us, cheered us on, and did so many wonderful things.
Kitties 2017 will tentatively be October 28-29 2017.
The next Marathon will be over New Years where I will be playing Undertale all the way through and Alan Wake all the way through while Fox draws the images. This stream is to help us with our taxes but also to help ring in the new year properly.

If there are technical difficulties or my health becomes perilous we will pause, stop, change guard, and resume when conditions are better but I have been doing alright for the past four marathons so it should be fine.
Firstly, as if this writing we are a mere $100 away from $6000 BEFORE the stream. Anyone want to nudge that up? (Edit: Thanks to Blackwater and Methinks we are now at $6102, which is the date of the marathon backwards. I love you guys.)

Final Hurricane Update
General | Posted 9 years agoWe got lucky. The worst has passed. We lost some roof shingles if the debris around the house is to be believed but they might not all be ours. We'll bring a roofing fellow over soon enough to patch things.
Since I still have power and internet, we'll be on for Overlord Day tomorrow!

Hurricane Update
General | Posted 9 years agoIt is almost 6AM as I write this and I thought I'd give an update.
I still have power and internet. That may change before the day is out but for now everything is normal, just a bit windy and rainy.
As I mentioned in the previous journal, the nature of hurricanes and winds are unpredictable and the best people can do is make very educated guesses. In my case, Matthew decided to spend time further east instead of closer to me.
What this means is that even though I am still going to get hit with heavy winds and rain, they won't be as bad as we feared. This could still knock out power and it WILL cause problems, but not the 80-100mph winds we feared. Of course, due to the unpredictable nature of storms, it could veer west and slam into me if it felt like it. It's the waiting around that drives me crazy right now.
So, I'm still here and I am fine. I am having issues with my phone due to the lines being overwhelmed so if you send me a text and I do not respond it might be due to that, plus the fact that I'm busy doing little niggly things as well like cooking all the chicken before it goes bad and checking to see if all the rechargable things are fully charged and such.
According to the latest predictions the worst of it will happen at around 10AM my time and will start to die down in the late afternoon. If I still have power and internet I'll let you know. We're prepared. We have food and water and a generator and all of the batteries charged. During Charlie twelve years ago the house fared well. I am rather worried that we're going to suffer damage to our aging roof, but there's little we can do about it now beyond praying and patching.
Obviously, I have no idea how this will affect Kitties. Kitties is three weeks away and some change and if we lose power and internet it will hopefully be restored by then. During Charlie we were without power for about a day and without internet for about a week or so. So all things said Kitties should not be affected by this.
They're predicting 75mph winds starting at about 2AM and continuing to about 7PM on Friday. We'll try to stay nestled in and safe and as soon as I am able to poke the public and give an "I'm okay" update I will. Although as a note, most of the deaths in Florida from hurricanes occur when people decide to go walkies in the wind and are hit by trees and power lines. We're staying put.
The most that will come out of this is what I will pop up after it passes and start planning for a marathon to help me replace my roof. Pray I do not.

Okay guys, we're less than a month until Kitties! So it's time for another update.
I'll be posting the image of Fermie's defaced shoes soon, so keep an eye out. It takes time to get googly eye placement just right.
With your help I have been able to upgrade my microphone so you won't have to hear me as if I'm coming from an AM radio. For the people curious it's a Blue Yeti that I have on a nice little boom arm with a noise guard so it won't pick up every puff of air and fan noise. I owe this upgrade to you and I am grateful.
I've had a few people mention drinking during the stream and although I will be providing jello shots and such in the background for the pit crew I will NOT be drinking much myself. Alcohol invariably makes me sleepy and in a 40+ hour marathon I cannot afford to get too sleepy. So although I may have a tiny bit here and there, don't expect me to go overboard. If it helps, I go have plenty of pop rocks for Fox though. Plus the whole weekend long marathon is very taxing on me as it is, and adding alcohol to the mix is just asking for trouble. I also know that some folks are a little uncomfortable with me drinking so I wanted to make it clear that there will be little to none of this on my part during the marathon. I actually have done little to none of it at all anyway since I'm low carbing and alcohol can throw me out of ketosis, plus alcohol is nothing but sugar anyway and isn't that good for people on diets.
Anywho, as a reminder, the marathon is October 29-30 and starts when the clock strikes Saturday here in Orlando. We have a countdown timer on the Kitties webpage here: http://little-tales.com/kitties
The game slots will go up for auction in one week on October 8th. They will be up for two weeks. The slots include three L4D2 slots with me, three with Uriel, two Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes slots with me, and four Dead by Daylight slots where I try to kill you. You can bid on multiple games or bid on multiple slots if you want a friend to play with you. If you win, just send your winning amount to the donation page. If for some reason you can't donate we will have a last minute auction for your slot the following week. And I once again remind people that winning does not include a copy of the game. You'll have to buy it for yourself, although Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes only requires you to look at a web page so you don't necessarily have to own it to join in.

Okay guys, we're less than a month until Kitties! So it's time for another update.
I'll be posting the image of Fermie's defaced shoes soon, so keep an eye out. It takes time to get googly eye placement just right.
With your help I have been able to upgrade my microphone so you won't have to hear me as if I'm coming from an AM radio. For the people curious it's a Blue Yeti that I have on a nice little boom arm with a noise guard so it won't pick up every puff of air and fan noise. I owe this upgrade to you and I am grateful.

Megaplex and Kitties!
General | Posted 9 years agoFirstly, we've been talking a lot about folks who want to get their hair done by Rogue at Megaplex. She will be on site and has stated that the best way to contact her is via her Facebook, so hit this up if you wanna get your hair prettified while at the con: https://www.facebook.com/HairGoneRogue/ Rogue has been doing my hair for about a year now and she is the ONLY person I trust. She explains things in a way no stylist has ever bothered to and I understand a lot about hair care and style thanks to her. I really can't recommend her enough.
I will be at Megaplex as well. Basically go into the Dealer's room and take a left and you'll be at my table. But keep in mind, I am also in charge of running the room and will be a little frantic and busy. In the evenings I pack my supplies up and go to the room to work, so I won't be around much for dinner either. We always have an impromptu gathering Sunday night while the room packs up but that's about it. My room is not a party room as I need to work.

General | Posted 9 years agoAs many of you know, holliehyena has had some medical issues as of late and is not able to work. Things are getting tight again so I'm going to run a second fundraiser on July 4th to help bolster her funds until she can get the government wheels spinning.
So, on July 4th starting at noon my time, I will be playing Bioshock Infinite (it seems appropriate for the 4th) and offering a slew of raffle prizes. It means dipping into the Kitties prizes, but I think I have enough overflow to handle that.
