Okay so that's the original Battlefield: Bad Company, but meh. I always loved that line in multiplayer (Even if it meant it as a loss).

So I finally got my ass around to playing Bad Company 2's demo and it is simply put, good. I'm curious as to when a Battlefield Game became more realistic feeling than a Call of Duty game because that's sort of backwards to what I normally think of.

You can't knock down buildings flat like they promised, though that could be the available weapons available on the one map... well available. The the armed UAV is hilarious, Sure it's an RC Helicopter, but it comes with Hellfire Missiles and a .50 Cal just to further harass your enemy. And marker lighting an enemy sniper out of spite just to watch a missile home in on him is still as funny as it was in the old game. The voices actually feel like they're worried about what's happening around them.

On the downside, the controls felt a little floaty, though that could just be an issue with the demo or even my friend's controller since I still haven't just downloaded the demo for some reason.

All in all, I look forward to the day when Modern Warfare 2 is just a footnote in my gaming history. I'm tired of the game's lazily balanced bullshit. And no, it's not just that I don't take cover and crouch enough thanks, I have my nuke title for a reason. (Call backs, yay)

Also. The game on Monday will in fact be La-Mulana. I'll offer up a few links along with the announcement journal so that if for some reason you decide to destroy your sanity along with me, it will be possible. Have fun with the Flare Gun's puzzle.

So. So far every copy of Blaster Master I've tested has given me the same problems. Choppy gameplay, guns that have bad damage value and weird colors. I tried Nestopia and Nesticle (Nesticle's icon is terrifying). So since that's out. I was thinking Legacy of the Wizard with a money cheat (Otherwise I'd have to spend half an hour to an hour farming for two pieces of gear). Or Cave Story with Hell attached. Because I might as well start my suffering a week early. Or I could just start La Mulana this week. I got it DLed and tested and everything was working fine there.

One way or the other, I should be starting on Wednesday.

So I've decided to stream an attempted playthrough of Blaster Master. Considering that I haven't really done a solid playthrough of the original in a while, it should be painful. It'll be later on in the day and I'll try to beat the game in a reasonable amount of time since I know where to go for the most part.

If it goes well and if there's at least some sort of enjoyment in it, I'll be doing a playthrough of La Mulana as a test of masochism.

If not, well I'm not going to be surprised anymore anyway.

So I was thinking that if I really want to ustream Art, I'd do it from a .oci file so I can talk to people while it's running and whatnot. It also allows me to actually finish things since unless it's changed the .oci file only records when I'm actually drawing and whatnot.

Instead I thought I'd do something similar to the Let's Play series of videos and do a playthrough of games. I had considered starting with Legacy of the Wizard or Codename: Viper, but both of those games can be pretty hard and in LotW's case, buggy. So if anyone's interested in watching my suffering or somesuch, nominate some games. NES, SNES and Sega games preferably since I can actually find the emulators for them. I do have a Game Bridge so I could also see how bad the lag is when I plug our 360 or PS2/3 in and run a game there as well.

As usual, certain things come up and I think on them and end up with strange questions. Things like logic. I had a customer call in the other day, irate because an alarm was going off. Unfortunately, it wasn't our alarm and this didn't stop the woman from yelling at me, holding the phone up to the alarm to piss me off (Erh make me understand what it sounded like or something retarded. Ed.) So, not realizing at that moment that it wasn't our alarm, I woke a tech up and ran through the measures. Then I called back to help and got yelled at again. At this point I sort of just left her floating and called it good by promising to ask another dispatcher and a tech when they got in.

So my questions are, why did she think we were the alarm company automatically? Why did she keep lying to me about the panel information and why the hell was she yelling at someone trying to help? Unfortunately I don't have the answers and I'm not allowed to tell her to piss off on the phone.

This isn't the only example, but it is the most recent. Or close to it anyway. I see a lot of illogical things though; my favorite being those people who don't realize their actions have an opposite reaction.

So last night I saw the elusive Lopsided Boobrex again and it got me thinking. Why? Why is this sort of thing so popular while artists that do predominately clean work always seem to get depressed and bail out or do porn themselves just to get noticed around here. I see it pop up all the time in journals. Artists will just get frustrated that something they spent time on get maybe 30 hits while someone who quite literally has been regressing artistically will get hundreds just on the adult content.

So I think the nightly drive to work Thursday was a great way to kick off one of the worst nights I've had in a long time. Got pulled over for supposedly not stopping at a stop sign (Nevermind not having any forward momentum whatsoever. Fucker) That's never a good way to start a day. But then I get to work and our climate control system is dead. So it's colder than normal in the office, tied in with the various irate customers who should be beaten with a stick (Yes sir I had to call you at 1 in the morning for a burglary alarm, that's why you're paying us). Oh and to top it all off, our new program is already showing signs of errors and bugs to go with the unintuitive setup.

From there, I went to school and started on a wiring project. Managed to short out a box due to a fault partially my own for not inspecting the receptacle I was using. I tore a chunk out of my hand with a Phillips screwdriver, got stabbed by a few random pieces of wire as I worked and in general had an off day there as well. I did get the project done and when I actually had it finished it did look rather nice at least.

Luckily the only thing bad about the drive home is what I expect from the average Utah drive. Officers that flip lights on to skip red lights, psychotic soccer moms and stupid blondes, wigga gangsta wanna-bes that think growing up in Utah qualifies them for something other than "Socially inept moron" and so on. (Seriously. These guys out here? They make the deranged porn addict furries look completely and absolutely well adjusted.)

But, the day after was a better day. Well better in that the only thing of note that happened was getting further in Disgaea 2 and hanging out with a pair of friends. Our space game is starting up again, so I'll be working on a new alien race to use. I don't think I'll be using the old designs for the Machine Cult or the Spiritualists so if anyone would like to offer some input on where to focus (Technology, Brutality, Spirituality, Psychic Ability or the like) go ahead.

I don't have a good 'question' this time. So instead I'll just make fun of the Lopsided Boobrex, the overabundance of foxes, porn artists that draw the same characters in the same small number of poses and the neighbor kid who told me that drinking Green Tea would kill me and send me to hell.

I've picked up Killzone 2, hopefully it still has some kind of player base left. Already tired of Modern Warfare 2 (IE The most realistic shotgun corner camping simulator ever. Now with 203's and Commando/Tacknife kits)

And while I'm bashing overrated things, was I the only one really really disappointed by Avatar? I thought my money would have been better spent seeing Dances with Wolves again. Same plot, better setup. Unless you count James Cameron cannibalizing his old design work.

Seriously though. Outside of the erh.. 3 regulars, do any of you ever read these things? I mean ever? If so any chance on some kind of occasional commentary? Hell any input on my music links? So again, I'm offering trades and commissions. Commissions are pretty cheap, especially compared to some artists. (Though I admit I do find the lopsided Boob-rex art to be hilarious) Seriously, cash though. I'd like to start replacing more parts in my car and it's getting expensive.

Trades would be outstanding as well. I'm not doing free art for the randoms anymore since.. well I was originally doing it to be nice and the people taking it; they weren't so nice. Skill's not a huge thing guys, as long as it takes you at least a portion of the time and effort I put into my half I'll be happy.

Has anyone else noticed the complete and utter inability of more than a few people to be able to spell, um... Simple words? I expect the occasional misspelling and typo (For example, I can't ever seem to type typo out the first time. Muscle memory just makes it into type - Ed.). That's not what I'm on about. What kills me is when I read a journal and it's absolutely filled with a thorough beating of the English language. It's even worse that they're supposedly born from an English speaking country and absolutely horrifying that someone that speaks English as a second language can easily outdo someone in a 2nd Grade spelling contest; never mind words that are actually challenging to spell. Firefox even comes with a spellchecker. Sure there's the joke about homonyms and spellcheckers, but that's a different beast all together.

There has got to be a way to save the English language from degenerating further...

So I'm looking for trades and commissions. I've always held up my end of a trade (Even after being screwed a few times). I am a bit slow sometimes though. Though as slow as I am, at least I don't take your money or picture then sit on it for the better part of a year right? Maybe it's just the cold.

As for commissions, I thought I would try out the 1 dollar sketch thing. I'll also be doing a few cheap icons or badges just to test things out. Honestly though I'd much prefer a proper commission or two just for the opportunity to work on coloring and proper inking and whatnot. Cash and practice in one makes me a happy (Or at least happier) artist.

Finally. Assuming I actually start getting at least a few responses that aren't just one word setups, I might try doing a Christmas gift for someone who isn't already on my list to receive one. It's... a tossup though since I'm still rather burned out that the only time I really get any response to anything (Questions or otherwise) is if I offer free art. It really is just saddening.

The trip wasn't the worst I've had. One of my uncles still can't stop talking politics and a few conspiracies (It seems Firefly was shitcanned because of the mixed race coupling and not because of Fox's inability to handle good shows). On the other hand, my Aunt is still great to hang out with, even if she does have a bit of a shoddy memory (I think it's a family thing) and hey, I get to go hang out in Sweden sometime next year hopefully. It'll be nice to visit my cousins since the last time I saw Basa was at least 8 years ago. The only good thing at the memorial service was seeing a few uncles and my cousin Jose and the food. Otherwise it was cheap booze (Boxed Red and White Wine or cans of Miller D:) and stories that I couldn't see being based entirely in reality.

Still looking for another art trade and I'm definitely looking for Commissions. Trying hard to fight my natural cynicism that's been tempered by the running record for posts on this website..

Finally picked up Modern Warfare 2, got Left 4 Dead 2 for my birthday. Nice to see that L4D2 did actually improve from the first one. It's also nice to see that some problems still exist. The stupid teammate that thinks they're invulnerable and wanders off alone. (They're usually the first one to complain that no one's coming to save them). It's even funnier that all of them say they're better for it and that they outsurvive everyone. Ran into it twice this morning and once the first time I played. I've managed to run out of motivation to draw again. Sat down last night at work and stared at a blank screen most of the night. Stared at Command and Conquer the other part. Turns out graphics tablets are good for RTS games. Still wouldn't mind some new names to pop up on MSN/Yahoo to talk to on my phone's half assed versions while I'm stuck at a miserable memorial service. I also wouldn't mind some drink tips.

So as some of you know my Grandmother bought the farm. As such my family, being of the LDS sort and the guilt tripping sort have joined forces temporarily to drag my happy ass out to Connecticut for a memorial service one day before my birthday. They also want to celebrate that. As I figure, it's a good day to learn how to make the perfect Martini, but that's a different aside. I'm not really so much upset over the death, I have mixed feelings of her and truth be told I A: saw this coming last year and B: have many negative memories so.. yeah. But it has been a major pain in the ass and as such I'd appreciate some distractions. I mean I get a semi-regular dose of funny from at least one person I'm watching, but that's like watching a train wreck. The amount of 'crap' just keeps piling on that one. But it's limited and I'd rather like some other things. Either people to talk to and joke with on MSN/Yahoo or funny stories or the like. I'm not really expecting much, I've long since given up on that. But I figure what the hell, it's not hurting anything.

So I got shuffled around in my classes today. I'm in a streamlined class that effectively put my electrician's training at just over halfway done. It's been fun, except the terrible computer programs and the plastic faced soul eater woman. (She kept staring at the camera with those dead eyes D:)

It's interesting the things you learn as you start delving into electricity and how it's put into effective use. The last section I had was on AC and DC type generators. It's kind of interesting to note that all generators produce an AC current initially and those used on DC devices have to be set up to convert the current over. Kind of fun reading up on where and when generators are used and the costs of maintaining and operating them on a long term basis, not to mention getting it all set up so you have enough energy coming down the line to run everything.

And on that note I get to do the project I've been looking forward to since I joined the class here in a month or two and that's wiring the model house we have, taking up most of the classroom. At least I don't have to deal with the plumbers, that's a different mess all it's own. And two classrooms down next to the bricklayers.

In art news, I'm still up for one more trade seeing as how I'm doubting I'll see the return from one trade at this point anyway. No freebies until I come up with a good contest or somesuch. And of course commissions are up, starting at 10 for an inked pic and going from there

I just wanted to post new songs mostly. Though I do have a bit of a topic in mind. It almost feels that lately on DA/FA that a lot of artists seem to just stop trying. I mean, those who mimic another style and never adopt their own or those who end up drawing the same thing over and over without trying to improve any of it. (Unless you consider drawing their 'sexual prowess' bigger an improvement heh). In some of these cases it even feels that along with losing the soul of their artwork and the drive to improve; that these artists also start to regress artistically.

Keep in mind this is just a general opinion and as long as you're civil you're perfectly within your rights to disagree and even say as much as long as it's done intelligently.
