Because I feel compelled...
Posted 15 years agoTime for another update from me. Though, I do ask myself, "Why bother?"
Essentially, I'm bored, since I am more than positive that my 4 watchers will nuke my journal notification. Which is all well and good, since they can't nuke my boredom.
So, let's see what I have been doing lately that I would want to share... Ah. Serena's Encounter is now available to view in its entirety. As far as I can tell by the stats tab people either did or did not enjoy it, which is just fine. As I stated in the submission comments with each piece, Serena's Encounter was a piece that was written by request from a friend. She had a bit of a femboner for Pyramid Head and Silent Hill themes, so, that was Serena's fate.
I honestly wish that more comments were dropped for the submissions, but, alas, that is not the case.
On to more exciting things.
As stated in my previous journal, I am taking part in Nanowrimo, which is a website that encourages people to write. Anything. You can find it here: http://www.nanowrimo.org
Since my last journal I have actually started writing my short story, and it is coming along swimmingly. As is, I am kind of steam rolling through a single plot, and what characters come are simply made on the spot, be it for a specific scene or be it for the good of the whole story as it unfolds. I do have a list of some chief characters that I want to be involved in the story, but... When dealing with a continent that contains different kingdoms of varying degrees of culture and governance... You're going to need a ton of characters.
That is something I am wrestling with currently, since the scope of what I'm trying to do with this short story revolves around getting the different perspectives of chief characters on a singular event. 'Sorta' like how 'As I Lay Dying' worked. Odd, since I fucking hated 'As I Lay Dying', I think Faulkner is a hack.
Or however you spell that author's fail name.
Anyway, I feel that it would be nifty to name some of the characters whose perspectives I have used in the course of my writing and give a little bit of their personality.
Crown Prince Diedrich Evalian VIII - Ruler of the kingdom of Ameradia, this young Crown Prince claimed his stewardship after the tragic loss of his father and brothers at the Battle of Nordrim. Having been too young at the time to assume the responsibility of leadership (especially during a time of war), his mother was left to carry the kingdom until Diedrich was of age to wear the crown. Those years virtually destroyed his mother, who now sits locked in one of the towers of the palace, wanting seclusion from the world. This affected Diedrich greatly, and was one of the primary forces that led him on a campaign of diplomacy to stop the war that had been raging across the continent. Yet, he regrets his choices, knowing full well that his father (and his lost brothers) would have continued fighting in order to restore as much honor to Ameradia as possible. He feels he was forced into taking the actions he did, for fear of a prophecy made by the Mages of Daytan, stating that any who bears the Evalian name would die in combat.
Lancer Captain Deacon Verron - Noble born of the House of Verron, Deacon is the youngest Lancer to achieve the rank of Captain in the history of Ameradia, the subject of which was thought to be a scandal given his noble birth. But, Deacon proved through strength of will and ability that he deserved to be named Captain, and quickly gained the respect and trust of his Lancers. It was thought that the young man, if he should choose to stay in the army, would become a fine General for Ameradia. His ambition is driven by his need to prove himself to his family. His mother and father regretted to hear of his decision to join the army, and did everything they could to try and deter him. But, Deacon believed in the 'new' Ameradia, which would be a kingdom that would rule in peace, and enforce it across all of Ivalice.
Lancer Patrolman Sven Latona - A commoner of Ameradia, he joined the army in order to help support his family. They were granted land to farm from one of the many noble houses that resided in Ameradia. Sven was blessed with an aptitude for combat, and was a local celebrity in the annual arms contest at harvest festivals. Upon winning such a contest he was noticed by a Lancer and was given the means to attend the Military Academy. Being a farm boy bruiser was a far cry from being a Lancer, but he passed the entry exams and attained the entry level rank of Lancer Patrolman. Sven feels himself as lucky, but he feels himself to be more loyal to his family than to Ameradia, no matter how many opportunities the kingdom may have given him. As long as his family is provided for, he will commit himself to whatever cause Armeradia may need of him.
Eh, while writing these things out I noticed that they were a bit bland, more history than actual... Personality. But, that will come! Just one of the many things that I have to work on.
Either way, why those three? Merely because the story, so far, is told from their perspectives.
And... Well, so far writing this story has been a lot of fun, though I have no idea who to write with after Sven. I am sure I will figure it out.
Should I put scraps up of my writings?
You decide, my four fans.

Time for another write up.
Posted 15 years agoI felt a dire need to tell people of my recent... 'Doings'.
As stated in the previous journal entry I have decided to post up a bit of my writing. So far the first two 'parts' of the story have been submitted, with varying degrees of popularity. This ranges from non-existent to meager. But, that is of no consequence to me.
I had wrote the story two years ago, and I haven't really read the thing until I decided to submit it to this website. As is, there are many things that I noticed which make me cringe. For example, the use of apostrophes for contractions, and really, the use of contractions in general.
(Note: Contractions... Is that the right term? I don't remember a thing from High School/College English. So sue me.)
Either way, the writing looks quite shoddy to me, so I am going to make an attempt to not do that in my next project...
This project has no name, as to be ominous and mysterious, but I can tell you what it will be about, sorta. As is, those of you familiar with the Final Fantasy series 'may' be aware that there was a release in the series called Final Fantasy Tactics. This game broke away from the usual 'good side vs. bad side' combat in the game and replaced it with a three dimensional battle ground where you command specific units that can be a number of different Classes.
Just think Ogre Battle.
Either way, I am a fanboy for all things Final Fantasy, but Final Fantasy Tactics struck a chord with me. The style of the artwork, the characters, the story, the chocobos, all 'worked' for me in a way that no other Final Fantasy had. And so, after completing the game, I have always toyed with the idea of making a fanfiction based on the world that the game takes place in.
Unfortunately, I never really committed to this idea... That is, until now.
This would be because I have been recently introduced to the website http://www.nanowrimo.org, and November is apparently a month designated to writing a 'novel' (a work of at least 50,000 words). It's not really a contest, more so a 'do this and you're awesome!' sorta deal. And since I think I'm pretty awesome, it enticed me.
Plus, it's a challenge. I write a lot of nonsense through role play, so I figured that I could try doing something a little more meaningful and see where it goes.
I have until November 1st to make outlines and characters and history and this, that, and the other thing. Then, I will start writing. Why wait until then? Bleh, I don't really want to wait, but I feel compelled to honor the rules of the website.
Either way, this is what I have so far...
A continent.
Ideas for two other continents.
A brief sketch of the history leading to the 'now' in my upcoming story.
A list of good/selfish guys.
A list of major bad guys.
Cities.
Towns.
Races.
Ah, races... See, the predominant race in Final Fantasy Tactics were humans. Which meant, no anthromorphic animals with rationality. However, Final Fantasy Tactics did have (*sigh*) sequels. They introduced the Viera, whom are... Very tall, amazon like females with bunny ears. There are also the... Ugly things... Bangaa, which sortakinda remind of a platypus.
Oh, of course, Moogles as well. Moogles are pretty legit, I will probably have them somewhere in my story. Maybe.
Still, the lack of legitimate furry creatures in the original Final Fantasy Tactics forced me to create a race so I may feel better about submitting the story here.
This race is known as the Chakrit, and pretty much look like those... Furry creatures in Final Fantasy XI. I'll try to elaborate more on what they look like when one actually enters the story.
...I believe that is all that I wanted to say. Uh. Part 3 of Selena's Encounter will be submitted next week... I am somewhat curious as to whether or not people will guess what theme I'm drawing the scenery from.
There is no prize. But a nod.

So, it says that I am a writer.
Posted 15 years agoI will try to make this as brief as I can.
Since Fur Affinity is a website based on artwork and what people are capable of doing, I have decided to steel myself and write a few things.
Why writing? Lack of choices. I have no hand or eye for artwork, so it is either writing or something musical. In all reality, I consider myself a more proficient song writer than a... 'Writer writer'... But, I don't feel that whatever music I write is appropriate for the site (which, I am probably wrong about, but oh well.).
So, writing. I have written stories as a youth, small little things, usually based on some video game I was playing at the time, but have never attempted something with more substance. As is, I suppose it would be prudent for me to mention that I role-play through writing. This occurs predominately on Furcadia, on which I play a number of nefarious creatures and scandalous, womanizing men.
Suffice it to say, I am a pervert.
Still, given the scope of what I just said, I have decided to submit my only work of 'substance'. A short story about one of my friend's characters whose name I changed by her permission. I will submit the story a chapter at a time just to see if anyone decides to read such or not.
