Ok folks. I'm feeling fantastic right now, and I feel I have to share. I had experienced a level up, a moment filled with energy and elation with the solid, undeniable fact that I have reached a new height.

For those of you reading this who don't know, I am a fencer, learning the late medieval/renassaince art of swordsmanship, not to be confused with olympic fencing... but I'm not going to go into that.

Today, at one of the biannual events that the medieval group I'm part of, there was a rapier tournament in which I participated. Now I have been fencing in tournaments for about a year now with very little success. Usually if I won a bout, I was having a good day. Last tournament I fought in, I was beaten by every opponent I faced. However today, I placed third in a nine man tournament. Most of the fighters today have been fencing for many, many years. Even the fights I lost, I make a good account of myself, impressing my opponents and those watching, and most of all, myself. It was a good day, with everyone fighting well... And I placed third. Holy Crap!

The two fighters who placed above me, were in fact, the men who taught me, both of which are very skilled, one of which is a master...

The feeling I had as I walked away from the field could only be decribed as that moment in a game when, having filled the nessacery experiece bar, you are bathed in light, the music sounds, and from then on, you're just that little bit more badass.

I have had a good day people. May we all find moments like this in our lives.

Well, today's my 25th birthday. At a quarter of a century, I'm feeling old, not helped by the fact that my list of friends keeps getting younger and younger.

Anyway... just thought it was approiate to just shout that out there.

3 sleeps remaining before I leave England bound for home. The farwells have been streaming in from my friends, and I'm am pleasantly surprised to hear how much I will be missed, though that could just be folk being polite or something.

Anyway. On tuesday I send off a 40kg box full of various possessions, and I still have some packing and culling to do among my things. I have two bags, on to go in luggage, with a 20kg limit, and my hand luggage, which will be carrying books, art stuff and my gameboy for the flight. Somewhere in all that I need to find space for my Rollerblades, presents for my mum and brother, and various assorted bits and bobs, aswell as all my favourite clothes.

Oh yeah, and I need it done, and all the left over stuff given to charity by 12pm tomorrow, cause i'm handing over the keys to my place then and staying the weekend with my ex-wife and her boyfriend before they see me off on Monday morning.

Soon... so soon.

The countdown truly begins now. 10 days remaining before I get on my plane to Australia. Most of my concerns are slowing being worked through, thank god, but I know for certain that I'll be cut things close to get everything done and ready.

But I can now count me remaining days in england on my hands. That's a truly scary thought.

My friends and I are having a farewell get together tomorrow night, going out for some curry, then maybe some drinks.

I can almost feel the sunshine again and the warm weather.

There really is no place like home.

Only three more weeks to go before I fly back to Australia XD. This is however appearing to be a mixed blessing. On one hand, the more obvious one, I'm over the moon about going home and getting back with family and old friends, getting away from the cold and eating a proper kebab.

However, the realization of all the things I'm going to miss about england is starting to hit home. The fact that I'll be leaving all the friends I've made during my time here behind. They've been a great bunch of people, and they've helped my english experience stay an enjoyable one, especially after my wife and I split. Atleast the internet can keep the lines open, but with my aussie friends since coming here, it's just not the same. I'm also going to miss being able to see my ex wife Jo, who, despite our marital issues, has remained one of my closest friends here. She's currently pregant with her mate, a great bloke in his own right, and my biggest regret is that I won't be here to see the baby after it's born in june-july.

The greatest concern of mine though, is that something will go horribly wrong in my preparations, my packing, the booking... that somewhere along the line, I'm going to screw up. The main reason for this, is the simple fact that this is the one of first times I have ever tried to organise anything on my own before. I've always had something to look over my shoulder, or give me a kick in the arse so things get done, and done right. My biggest concern is the box I'm going to need to back full of all my books and board games and other such stuff that I have collected in my time here, and getting it into the country without doing something to upset customs. Not that I'm transporting anything illegal or that couldn't be found in Oz, but I have heard that Australia had one of the tightest customs procedures anywhere, and that has me worried. I'm only glad that I don't have to organise a visa, because I just know that I'd do something wrong there.

But all my worrying won't get the stuff done or stop the clock from ticking, so I'm just taking a deep breath and hope that I don't panic or freak out, atleast until everything's sorted.

I don't normally do this kind of thing, but this is big, and for me it's hits rather close to home. For any who don't know, Victoria Australian is currently battling with the worst bushfires the country as ever seen. Hundreds of homes have been lost, and the death toil was 178 last I heard and expected to rise. All the families who have lost their homes and who had lost their loved ones need help and support.

When I last spoke to my family back home, I was told that my aunt and uncle living near Melbourne are currently fighting fires themselves only a few streets down from where they live.

I have for sometime lamented to lack of a scanner, or even a computer at home, being forced to steal my friends internet and use work's computers on the sly instead of going out for lunch. However, last night a light buld came on. My phone has a camera, and though it's not the most reliable device I have ever owned, it gave me means to get my handdrawn art on to the computer.

However, the ball didn't stop there. For some reason, I have also been saddened that I don't have anything grphics software like photoshop. I use to have a version years ago and found it a lot of fun, but again the lightbulb of realisation struck. Paint! It was so obvious.

For any of you who have had a look at the art I have put up, it's quality is more then a bit lacking, however, I have decided to try to see what lengths Paint can take me when I have the chance. I'm in the process of trying to clean up and clear up my catgirl picture, and see how that goes... who knows if I feel confident enough, I might even trying colouring the thing and see where that leads. XD

I feel I much share. For the past two years, I have been living in Manchester England. When I moved here I had expected my winters to be white, which was an exciting prospect for a man growing up without ever seeing the wonder that is snow, but it was not to be. My hopes were quickly swepted away by the locals explaining that although it would reach sub-zero temperatures of the likes I have never experienced before, it would likely not snow.

I was heart broken, and ever now and again, the weather would tease me, and let just a little bit fall from the sky, but never enough to amount to anything.

But today I have been blessed. With only 7 weeks remaining before I return to the much missed shores of the land Downunder and the beautiful sun shiney state of Queensland, I was greeted this morning as I stepped out to got to work with a scene I have only ever seen on christmas cards. Everything was white.

To say I was pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. I found myself filled with an orgasmic, school-boy like glee as I made my morning drudge to work. About a week ago, I was looking for an appealing game for my DS, something that just had that 'thing' that I was looking for in a DS game. In this musing of mine, I made a wish, that they would make a Metal Slug game for it cause that was the kind of thing I would have loved and Metal Slug is one of the greatest games in it's simplisity. And today, I have foound that my wish has been granted :D
