Not just because I am alone but MOSTLY because it is also my Dead Brother's Birthday...
... kinda kills the mood....
But I DO KNOW that it is an important day for some people and I do not want to take this away from them...
I guess just... dont expect me to EVER do celebratory pics for that Holiday ( cant even be consistant enough to make pics for Holidays that I DO LIKE to Celebrate!!)
JUST MISSED THE YEAR OF THE DRAGON CELEBRATION THING!!!
But I digress...

Cleaning-up my Ko-Fi

Sorry or the lack of news as up late ( I have been doing stuff for myself- and my mental health- lately) But I felt like I needed to address something that dropped recently...
Apparently, Ko-Fi is updating the ToS's ( including the ban of NSFW pictures on their platform) and because of this, I felt like doing some drastic clean-up of the pictures I had posted in there...
I know they weren't many and thoses were mostly WIPs and Sketches of pictures on my actual galleries But I felt that, in the interest of Fairness toward my watchers, I warned you of this...
I hope you Understand the choice I made to keep this avenue for people to make Donations to me with....
If you want to support me on a lower capacity, you can Donate on said Ko-Fi page but I suppose this will mean I wont be able to post a lot directly on it ( and if I do, I'll have to be carefull on what I'll post, since sketches can be hard to read at times)

Some Words to End 2023

I suppose it is tradition to end the Year with one last Journal to kind of summarize the past months and elaborate on my hopes and « Intentions » for the new Year to come…
(I already mentioned this last Year but I have learned that « Intentions » where a better term than « Resolutions », as they are less taxing mentally and doesn’t bring your morale down too much if you can’t fufill them)
But this time, I felt like I needed to actually look back at what I have said last Year, to see if I have been able to actually make due with my « Intentions »…
Aaaaand… It’s doesn’t seem like I totally did it at first glance… But I think I had made small steps toward those goals… Let me explain…
It has been true, that I had many Set-backs and obstacles on the way, from Tech-problems, to « Administrative Slowliness », to IRL issues/obligations and even sickness…
But during this time, I also felt like I made important -even if a bit tidious- steps toward what I wished back then
-I am improving my mental health after seeing specialists, establishing daily routines and starting to take medications….
-I am still doing commissions, even though I have been slowed down significantly because of a large work that I have done my part on BUT ISN’T REVEALED AS UP TODAY so I can’t talk about it…
Also, I have already mentionned it not too long ago, but I’ll have to Re-think my Pricing AS WELL as the way I handle Commissions…
-I have refound back inspiration to do drawings outside of Commissions by either revisiting old projects of mine of doing fanarts…
-I have made a group of IRL friends, with which I socialize and play on a weekly basis… And plan to use my own figures in said games…
As for the Wargaming side of things, I didnt re-start assembling and painting but I have been investigating around the hobby for new tools and models to use, been given for Christmas a quite extensive hobby kit, including a battery-powered trimmer…
It has been interesting for me to see what exists out there beside Games Workshop, either in 3rd party models or 3D Printing (Heck ! I even did participate and promoted at least 2 Kickstarters related to the subject !!!!)
So with those 2 informations combined, I feel like way more options for miniatures, and games to use them in, have been quite broaden, giving more inspiration and motivations to do so…
Basically, it felt like 2023 have been a little lacking but was a necessary prep-time to get myself ready…
It’s kind of like Foundation Works when you make a building :
It’s Long, it can be both hard and/or dull, it isn’t that rewarding on its own but it’s still a necessary step in the process…
Or to use a Gardening Imagery, at the end of 2022, I was the happy lil farmer, ready with his lil apple-seeds, wanting to make some cider…
But I didnt have the good enough/right tools AND I didnt know I needed to pass a plough through the field before planting!!!
2023 kinda felt like me passing a big plough to actually get myself ready for the better part !!!
Sorry if my prose make this year sound quite drab-I still had many fun times in 2023- but it just didn’t feel like I had done a lot of personal progresses, especially in the last few months…
Did all of this take more time than it would to someone else in my place ?
Probably a lil bit…
I mean even if some elements were out of my control, I think it’s kinda clear « Speed » never has been my "Forte"…
I always were the kind of kid you had to explain twice as much as any other before he could understand AND I valued way more quality and caring for details than speed…
But I suppose that now that the field is ready, it’s time for me to sow my works… Let’s hope at the end of 2024, the Harvest would be worth a while…

Just wanted to apologise a lil bit for having being quite silent as up late...
Had some IRL issues...
I also did get a new Drawing Tablet lately and wanted to have a grip on it before continuing commissions....
I wanted to train myself with a lil project that I ORIGINALLY wanted to be done for Christmas but COULDN'T finished on time.... so maybe I can have done for the New Year Eve....
But still...
I wish you all a Merry Christmas!!!!

Before November Ends....

I kind of wanted to take a while to share some thoughts I had recently…
You see, on Sunday, I came accross a particular video on Youtube that made me think…
It’s a video from one of my Oldest Hero, an Artist whose creations always stimulated my imagination and were inspirations that helped me define my own artstyle and personal touch…
Samwise Didier…
-Before this, I didnt even knew he had a Youtube Channel, to be honest-

I linked it but you dont need to watch it fully, since I’ll pretty much sum up what was important for me and is relevant to what I want to say…
He announced in it, that he left Blizzard as its Senior Art Director BUT NOT because of Drama or anything of the sort…
Samwise said that his dad died at 78 years old not too long ago and since he’s himself 53, it kind of made him considered his own life…
Samwise started to work at Blizzard as his litteral first job ever, at 21, worked for over 30 years in it, and he felt like, if he is like his father, that could only give him 20-maybe 30 years left to live…
And all this time, he hasn’t really worked on HIS OWN stuff ! Just contributing to a greater whole…
More recently, he did write and illustrate a few books and novels on the side, like « The Last Winter » but he felt like it wasn’t enough….
That now, he needed to focus on his own projects, his own ideas…
To have something that would be truly « HIS », while he can !!
He doesn’t feel too sad about leaving Blizzard to do so, since he already did so much, so he feels safe to do venture on his own…
But you see…. Hearing all of this… kind of made me reconsider myself…
When I will share those words, it will be my 34th birthday…. And what did I accomplish?
What will I leave behind if something happens ?
Of course, my pessimistic side was quite quick to say « Nothing of much values beside some Buff chicks pics » but, the more I thought about it, the more I realised… No… Maybe I contributed more than I could think of it at first glance…
At the time of writting this, I got over 2600 Watchers on Deviantart… That pretty much means that over 2000 People bother to follow me because they like what I do…
Some of them did become acquaintances or even friends !
Many of them showed genuine concern for me during some of the darkest moments of my life ! -more on that later-
And I even had a few instances of people openly saying to me that I inspired them in their art !
-ME !!-
And that’s NOT just Online !
I had in the past tought Elementary School Kids how to draw as part of a job, and some of them still remember and recognize me on the street years later as teens!
And I also cannot count how many times I had people that I had forgotten for years -DECADES even in some cases- just randomly recognize me and being pleased to see me again !!
I clearly mattered in many people’s life ! Made them laugh ; Inspired them….
And I can still do it !
I mean I am a little too close to the 40’s of age for comfort but it still gives me time !!
I can still find my own path and make something worthy to be called « My Legacy » …
My Own Concepts and Ideas !! My true own creations !!!
I mean don’t get me wrong : I still like doing Commissions – Heck ! There are a few that I can clearly remember having been a joy to make and/or still be proud of the results even today !!!-
But at the same time, I feel like it has been FOREVER since I had done anything just for myself….
Ironically, I cannot recount the number of times when I had finished all the commissions I had -or just moments when I tried to take a break from commissions- and that I wanted to do something just for me… and it was just… Blank of ideas !! THE VOID !!!
I suppose all of this wasn’t helped by the at least 2-3 years of depression I had after the Death of my older brother and I was trying to find all sorts of ways to just… Forget the pain…
Including just machinally doing basic commissions just not to think about it…
I am still quite ashamed of that dark chapter of my life where I made bad choices and listened to the wrong voices…
Especially since it feels like the Blaze of Creativity had quite deamed ever since….
I really wish to rekindle that flame I once had and feel like I am missing today in some ways… It might take many steps though…
I suppose that’s why, , starting now -but more likely starting in 2024- I will try to do more stuff for Myself alongside doing commissions…
I Will STILL do Commissions ! DO NOT WORRY !! Although, as I mentionned in previous Journals, I may have to rethink the way I handle them, as well as their prices…
But in general, I think like I need to re-do more creative stuff just for me !
It could be as simple as FINALLY going back to Assembling and Painting Miniatures for Wargaming or TTRPGS, or doing some fanarts or gifts to people or just drawing things I found interesting…
Small baby steps like that, could help getting the inspiration back to work on larger projects !!!
Because I feel like some of the Old Projects I once had could -or even should- be revisited or maybe there are ideas yet to come that could be worth while… and that I may not be ready yet for them….
Again : Baby Steps… but still steps forwards
I mean, I’ve always been the « Slow but Methodical » type anyway…
I may already have one or 2 small stuff cooking already, that I hope will be done before 2023 ends AND I STILL have some old Commissions I need to finish… (sorry for the long time I’m taking BTW)
But for the most part, I think this all thing will have to wait ‘til 2024 before it could be put in motion…
Hope that small « Mid-life Crisis » bit didnt bore you and that you maybe understand me more, as well as the direction I’ll try to take for my future…

Hope you are doing okay...
Personally, I had many IRL issues with Administration, Mental Health issues and other stuff so I may need some sort of Vacation/Retreat for a while...
I'll be gone with my familly between the 13th and the 19th of November to kind of have a familly retreat and cutting myself off of stress and screans as much as I can during a short while....
I felt like I needed to warn you a lil bit in advance before it happen....

Administrative stuff, Water leaks, Anniversary of my Brother's Death and some more....
I mean August seem to always have been AWEFULL for me for the past decade but this year took the cake!!!!!

Those Long Empty Void of Content on my galleries, where I almost post any new pics for Months!!!!

The Larger Works, which included The Colored, The Colored and Shaded, the Sequences, the Comic Pages and the Character sheets
and
The Smaller Works, who are pretty much Pencil Works, Black and White pictures and Coloring Commissions....
PRICES ARE UNCHANGED!!!!
It just allows me to do more Smaller Works along side Big Time consuming stuffs instead of Constanstly doing Big Works one after the other....
Since indeed, I will now only have 3 Spots for the Larger Works and will only free a spot when it will be done and paid, while I'll have in paralelle 5 Smaller Works spots that, logically, will be renewed/freed more frequently....

It just allows me to do more Smaller Works along side Big Time consuming stuffs instead of Constanstly doing Big Works one after the other....
Since indeed, I will now only have 3 Spots for the Larger Works and will only free a spot when it will be done and paid, while I'll have in paralelle 5 Smaller Works spots that, logically, will be renewed/freed more frequently....
That way, I kinda hope to avoid, well... Huge gapses of Empty Void between the releases of Larger Works....
So for NOW, Only SMALLER WORKS ARE OPEN!!!

- But most importantly.....If I dont feel confortable with what you are asking, I will NOT do this drawing, no matter how much you offer.... I try to keep my work "mostly SFW " .....mostly....
I'm okay with hyper, Macro, muscles and some others.... but I'll only do what I feel confortable making and will flat out REFUSE to do some of the most "exotic" stuff out there like Quicksand, Feets and stuff like that! NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU OFFER OR BEG!!!!
