2024 Update
Posted a year agoHoo boy, what a year it's been.
It's a bad feeling when you love art like I do but become incapable of making it! I'm hoping that slowly changes. Anyway, it's been a little over a year since my last journal so I thought I'd give an update.
So, where have I been? Working lol. Still working, I am happy, but I burn out often. One of the major parts of my job is actually handling social media, which makes me avoid it more when I'm at home. I spend more time playing video games now. Also over the past year and a half my computer I built when I moved out on my own a longgg time ago began showing signs of failure, especially in the RAM and motherboard. It was also starting to become outdated for gaming. It's hard to dedicate time for art when you can only do so for about 30min before your PC locks up and crashes. So starting in 2024 I took a hefty chunk from each paycheck and used it to buy new PC parts bit by bit. I also got a second desk to expand my workstation to a two monitor set up and have an area to focus on traditional art. I finished my new PC and set-up at the end of April, and I feel so much better. Being able to draw again is very healing, and I look forward to making new stuff.
I still have no plans to open commissions again. I got tired of paying taxes on it, kind of just became a pain. If I open them publicly, they'll likely be in exchange for items. I also plan to open them on Flight Rising sometime in August/September but for on-site currency only. Also, Art fight! I'll be there again, and hopefully every year to come.
I've revamped a lot of my socials. Most everything at this point has been changed to "Gojirin" or "GoGoGojirin". I started a new instagram page and I'm also on bluesky now. My chances of become a published author are pretty slim to none, but I decided I no longer wanted to use my main characters name for my social media handles lol. I've also lost complete access to my weebly site and portfolio after they merged with squarespace. I'm doing my best to erase links to it from my socials, but know if you do have it that information is no longer accurate and can never be updated again. I've instead opened a Carrd and will be making a new portfolio there. You can find the link to that at the bottom of this journal and in my profile!
I think that's all for now! Look for more art in the future, and be sure to check my other socials if you want to see more of my non-anthro/feral work!

Long Time No Journal!
Posted 2 years agoHi FA folks, hope you've been well. No matter where you follow me, you'll have likely noticed I haven't been posting much if at all.
Well what happened?
Mostly good things! About a month ago I finally got the position I've been seeking, Full-Time Library Clerk. Hell yeah government benefits. My partner also got a new full-time position at a job very close to home. We don't get to see each other much because we work different hours, but having us both bringing in the big bucks has really helped us get off our feet and be able to survive again. Things got scary for awhile, it sucks to not be able to pay the bills or put food on the table. I'm glad that seems past us now. Even though it feels like the world is burning, at least I can find some oxygen again...
So what's up with art?
Well, I still love it! I just... don't have as much time to do it :( Commissions are pretty much closed indefinitely, but I wouldn't mind if someone asked every now and again. I'm really tired of paying freelance taxes, it's basically cost me more in taxes to file than what I get back out of it. For that reason I'll only be taking a few small commissions a year if any. I'd rather do art trades really!
I am trying to find my footing again, I've been mostly practicing in sketchbooks and I just can't seem to decide what to do with my art right now. Now that I'm not concerned about views.. I'm not really sure what to do! As I ease into a new routine I'm sure I'll find my footing again.
You might find some of my art on other socials that aren't FA because I've been drawing my human OC's more than my anthro ones lately, so feel free to check out my Devianart and Twitter sometime.
That's really all there is to say, stay safe out there!

Commissions Closed
Posted 3 years agoA full time employee at my workplace resigned, a due to the US's inflation issues (I give up, this shit is basically a recession) a hiring freeze is in effect so we are forced to cover that extra 40 hours by maxing out part-time hours instead of just re-opening the position. Hopefully it'll be over by the new year and I can snag that full time position.
I'll be too busy settling into routine and new duties to work on art much. Expect slow updates and extremely rare commission openings.
Thanks for sticking around :)

Commissions to close again.
Posted 3 years agoHahaha... my life is just a ping pong ball stuck in perpetual motion at this point!
I know commissions weren't open long, but they'll be closing again. A full-time employee will be resigning soon, leaving a vacancy. I'm going to be busy picking up the slack at work, and, hopefully, attempting to get a promotion.
I'll make another official featured journal when that does happen, but for now, no more commissions will be accepted until I see how the change will effect things!

Art fight 2022
Posted 3 years agoIt's that time of year again folks!
artfight.net/~Bekuno
I'll be joining Team Wither this year for Art Fight and holy shit, it's my 6th year of this!
Hopefully y'all know the drill by now, all my art time in July goes 100% toward Art Fight, don't expect to see personal art or commissions here for awhile!
Speaking of commissions.... not sure when those will come around again. Depends on how busy my workplace is post-summer. Hopefully I can get the motivation for them again after Art Fight :)

Posted 3 years agoCommissions are available once again! I am briefly emerging form my hiatus for the month of June to open up some of my smaller commission types. Shaded Headshots: $45
Chibis: $35
Icons: $35 or $50 for paired icons

Commissions closed until May! (+ GoFundMe)
Posted 3 years agoI've decided I'm doing okay enough right now to give myself some time off from commissions so I can celebrate my birthday in April peacefully and finish some personal projects! If I've already discussed commissions with you and secured you a slot on my queue then you're still going to receive your art in/by April, I just won't be taking any additional slots. I will re-open in May and then probably close again for Art Fight or the summer in general depending on my work schedule.
Also, I wanted to quickly advertise a gofundme. I very good IRL friend of mine lost his brother to Muscular Dystrophy earlier this month, and his family needs some help covering the funeral expenses. I'd love if any passerby's could give it a look!

I will return to my regular commission journal once slots are open again.

Commissions Open!
Posted 3 years agoWe're back at it again! Sadly, I was not selected for a full-time position at my workplace. It's unfortunate to lose out on those benefits, but I gained a lovely new co-worker. I'll continue trying for the next opportunity :)
Until then, commissions are back open! Please note I may work slower than in the past, but I will always have an open line of communication and publicly visible trello for progress updates.

Happy Holidays + Hiatus Notice
Posted 4 years agoHello everyone! I just wanted to make another journal to keep things updated here. Firstly I hope you all have a wonderful Holiday season, enjoy the time and be safe out there. I get a nice few days off and I'm looking forward to seeing my family and friends and maybe I'll have some fun new art supplies waiting under the tree :)
I am still working my wonderful library job and I hope to be here as long as possible. I quit my other part time job and I am trying to get full-time employment at the library, this is why I'm not opening commissions often if at all. I get paid a lot better and have longer hours so I don't need to worry much about commissions anymore. I still like to do them from time to time, though. Don't ever be afraid to ask about them, just know if they are closed you may get a no unless I have extra time / you're willing to wait!
I wont be posting a 2021 year of art, because I truthfully don't have much to show for it. I don't have a lot of drive for personal pieces or my own characters, which is why you are seeing very little art output from me right now. Instead I am laying low and trying to improve on my style, anatomy, and just art in general behind the scenes.
Because of that all my art-related social medias are on a 'hiatus'. I will share things if and when I have them, but it will be few and far between until I get a balance between work and my hobbies. Thank you to those who continue to stick with me! I am looking forward to trying some new things in the coming year.
HOLIDAY 2021 COMMISSIONS OPEN!
Posted 4 years agoHowdy howdy! Life is going good. I quit my original job of 6 years to fully focus on the job I got a few months ago, which means I actually have time for commissions again. I'm excited to get back to it, though I'm a lit out of practice, so I'm going to be offering limited commissions types though I do have two YCH's to debut.
HOLIDAY 2021 COMMISSION OFFERINGS:
Busts/Headshots: $15 colored sketch, $30 flat colors, $40 shaded
Icons: $35
Chibis: $30 flat color, $40 shaded
Experimental Headshots: $25
Rudolph Icon YCH: $30, includes shading
Chibi Oversized Sweater YCH: $35, includes shading
DM OR FILL OUT THE FOLLOWING FORM: https://forms.gle/bhL5qurt2nTrCwwA6
These commission slots will be closing on December 15th so I can take a christmas break and ensure holiday delivery!
BIG LIFE UPDATE (Commissions Closing Sept 2nd)
Posted 4 years agoHowdy howdy y'all, things are finally looking up around here.
Today I received the call I always wanted to hear: I got my dream job. A job that may finally have me on a path to a permanent career. A job I've been trying to get for six years. It's all happening when I need it most.
So what does this mean for art?
Well, there will be less of it for sure. For now I'm going to be working two part time jobs, so I will have less time for art in general.
So I've decided that my commissions will be closing indefinitely on September 2nd.
If you're interested in getting art from me, please contact me before that date to secure a spot. If I have already exchanged a DM with you, you're in the clear. Progress may be slow as I will have a lot of training and orientation to do, but you will always get your art.
Thank you to everyone who has been working with me, especially over these last two years with the pandemic making everything so very hard. You have kept me going. I'll be looking forward to a time when I can open for commissions again, but they will definitely be more limited now!
Cheers.
Commission Reminder!
Posted 4 years agoMy full lineup of commissions are back open again! This includes reference sheets. Prices have been updated in my pinned submission and in the commission info tab. Please DM me if you're looking for some art!

So yeah!! Also, we finally know where we're moving!
We've secure a rental in my hometown, and there are way more job opportunities there as well, plus we'll be closer to my partners job.
Commissions will be used to bulk up my savings and take care of moving expenses. Donations and tips are also appreciated and can be sent via my Ko-Fi! Thank you so much!
I will still be participating in Art Fight 2021, just not as heavily this time ^^
Spring 2021 Updates
Posted 4 years agoHello everyone! I hope the new year has been treating you well. A few things are looking up for me but honestly I still feel like I'm falling apart everyday. Here is as much of an update journal as I can muster.
My partner finally returned to the working world in February and has been keeping us steady. Employment opportunities are few and far round here, he was only apple to get a job via strong recommendation from a close friend and it's nearly an hours drive for little pay. It sucks, but he's a hard worker, and I know promotions will come to him quickly.
I'm struggling to find any entry level positions myself. I'm considering retaking courses to go with my original job plan of Pharmacy Tech, that I failed twice after a bad shakeup in life when I lost someone I was close to. It's hard to find things I'm capable of doing, as my mental health has never been great.
We're still losing our home and we aren't sure where we're moving to. I was hoping to move to the city but lately we've talking about changing course and staying closer to here again, just a bigger area with better employment for less travel time. As a planner with no plan I'm constantly under the stress of uncertainty and it's soul crushing. I don't understand how adults do this.
Regardless, my progress in daily life has been slow, art is not fun anymore, and I've been escaping in books, video games, and chores. I've decided to live off my job earnings and the most recent stimulus for awhile and try to slow down, so I won't be taking any commissions for the foreseeable future. I'll consider art trades now and then, and if you're a regular who just really wants a commission but are willing to be patient about waiting, I will consider those too. Please don't expect much of me for awhile, I'm very, very tired. Know when I do get employed again, I likely will not open commissions anymore.
Not the greatest update but an honest one. I'm just doing my best, thank you for your support.

Commissions Open! (Jan 2021 Updates)
Posted 4 years agoBack at it again! I hope everyone had a great holiday season and has been able to relax. I had to wait for my nightmarish new year depression to pass before I could properly open commission again but I'm back now!
I'm open for all commission types, please sent a DM if you are interested! I am going to be a little slower than usual, I'm trying to keep myself from rushing out commissions out of stress of "taking too long" and then burning out. I update my trello with progress at least once every 24hrs so I promise I'm always working!
As they do every year, my prices will be increasing in mid-February, so if you want my current price range it's best to order by February 15th!
As for general updates, I'm still the only one in my household with an income, and job hunting has not gone well for my partner or I. We are still going to be forced out of our home at some point this year as our rent assistance is running out. For now these commissions are all I have to make ends meet.
Also a reminder that I take donations through Ko-Fi and offer doodles as a thank you!
End of 2020 Commission Update
Posted 5 years agoFirstly I want to say thank you to everyone who has been commissioning me lately. All of my wonderful repeat customers, and new ones, who keep me motivated about my art and improvement. Thank you for putting up with my weird breaks at times too. 2020 has been so hard, but it's made me realize some of the steps that I need to start taking to do better, and I'm hopeful that next year will be great. (aka woohoo, therapy time!)
With the sappy stuff out of the way, I will announce the last opportunity to commission me this year will be December 13th. After December 13th my commissions will be closed until I'm ready to start up again 2021. Since this year has been so hard I want to be able to have Christmas to myself and just try and rejuvenate.
Until then I will continue to work hard to deliver art to you!
I actually have some of my human story that I want to work on over my holiday break, so you might not see a lot of my art posted here, but I will still be around! Maybe I'll try and pick up a new art hobby too, there's too many things I want to learn lol
Happy Holidays, please stay safe out there.
Commissions re-open early, self-quarantine.
Posted 5 years agoI found out Saturday that my partner and I came in close contact with the spouse of someone who contracted coronavirus, and have decided to self quarantine to prevent any further spread (the person was not diagnosed until Saturday so we had no way of knowing).
Unfortunately this means I have to miss out on the really important work I was going to receive, losing my overtime and will likely not be reaching the minimum required hours to receive my holiday bonus.
I feel fine enough to draw and such, and will get a covid test this week, so to compensate for these lost hours my commissions are back open again. I'm open for all types of commissions, please DM if interested!

Commissions temporary closed!
Posted 5 years agoJust a heads up that I have to close commissions starting the 13th as I'm not going to have access to my tablet for a week and will not be able to check FA at all.
I'll be back November 20th and ready to get to work!
I'm refraining from posting any new art until the 20th, October was awful and I've been in such a slump. If you want to see my art before it gets posted anywhere else, I recommend following me on twitter! https://twitter.com/GoGoGojirin

Autumn Updates + Commissions Open
Posted 5 years ago
2020 has been rough y'all, especially this past month. My boyfriend is having health troubles, lost his job, and on top of the general stress form all of that I found out I'm losing my home next year. I'm down to only one job, though I will try to get a seasonal one during the holidays. I need to kick things into gear, so
My commissions are officially open indefinitely. Please remember I'm only accepting SFW commissions.
I also have a YCH Halloween Icon I'm offering and will offer until the end of October:

If you'd like to support me but can't afford a commission, I do offer doodles for proof of donations on Ko-Fi!
Thank you so much for the support.

I am also open for bust commissions at this time, feel free to contact.

August Update: Art Fight, Commissions/Projects, New Table...
Posted 5 years ago Okay well it's July 31st but it's fine. Another round of updates here!
Art Fight was great this year, despite the usual burnout and up and down quality, I managed to demolish my goal of 30 attacks.
I might actually hit 40 by the end of this years session. Art Fight got a big ol' extension this year and I'm super grateful.
I'll be continuing to draw for it until August 10th, I have a few more people to revenge.
I don't post all my Art Fight art, but you can check it out on their site: https://artfight.net/~Bekuno
---
Commissions are now officially CLOSED for the time being. If we've worked it out you're good, but I will not be taking on any more clients for now.
The big reason why is I purchased a new tablet for myself, a Huion Kamvas 13, which will be my first screen tablet.
This is going to take some getting used to, as I've been using the same Wacom Intuos for at least 6-7 years.
I don't want to be putting out commissions that aren't up to par as I adjust, so I'm looking to keep commissions closed until at least September.
When I reopen, their will likely be some adjustments to prices and how I take commissions.
I'm still learning how best to handle commission work, and I'd like to increase things like YCH's and pushing only certain types of commissions at a time instead of having such a large offering. I hope you all understand!

Part of what has taken so long is I had a zine project piece that was taking up a lot of my time and effort and I didn't want to switch tablets and adjust during that process so close to the due date as well as during art fight when i try to produce a LOT of work.
I'm happy to say I finally finished my piece. Be on the lookout for Girls Who Love Monsters coming to Kickstarter later this year.
I was also accepted to the Destiny: A Wings of Fire Zine as a merch artist, I'll be designing a sticker! Look out for that project in the near future as well.
---
I believe that's all for now! Stay safe out there.

June Update: Socials, Artfight, Commissions
Posted 5 years agoHi everyone! Hope you're doing well. This is just another update journal.
As a reminder, FA is not my only site. I've also added Pillowfort and Tumblr back into the mix. I've been drawing a lot of human content lately (not that I'm abandoning furry), which is why you aren't seeing as much art here.
New sites:
Pillowfort: https://www.pillowfort.social/Prodromus
Tumblr: https://www.tumblr.com/blog/prodromus-art

For the 4th year n a row, I'll be participating in Art Fight! This means during the entire month of July I will not be taking any commissions. Art Fight is a time for me to share the love while getting some practice in myself. If you're looking to get art from me, consider joining up!
You can follow me on artfight here: https://artfight.net/~Bekuno

In regards to commissions, they really haven't been on the mind. I'm not actively advertising since I haven't been wanted to draw much at all as of late. I'm back at work, but not making as much as I used to because I only have one job now. I'm currently working on a piece for a big kick starter collaboration as well, which is taking up a lot of my time. Until July, I'm happy to take on any small commissions like busts, chibis, and icons. I likely wont accept much else though.
I think that's all! I hope everyone is staying safe.
