Life Update - Oct 5th, 2017
Posted 8 years agoHey everyone!
It’s been awhile since I posted last but it has been a crazy last few months but I have some fairly major news to share. As of 9pm Wednesday, Oct 4th, I have officially purchased a house. It has been a crazy and complicated road getting here but as of last night we removed our conditions on the offer making it official. I wanted to wait to share this news with people until everything was said and done (well almost everything).
As I said, the road here was fairly crazy: from taking out a debt consolidation loan from the bank, to fighting with different credit companies to close accounts (I’m looking at you Desjardin—you guys are a real pain to close an account with, but that’s a story for another time), to fighting with the bank to jump through an ever-increasing number of seemingly arbitrary hoops; we finally were ready to pick a realtor and look at houses. After speaking to a number of realtor’s, Berith and I decided to go with Joe and started to look at properties for sale in and around the $400,000 range.
Joe has the patience of a saint, let me tell you. Berith and I went into looking for houses with no idea where we wanted to look, what we wanted to look for and what we should expect. We knew that we wanted a 3 bed, 2.5 bath detached house with garage and either partly finished or fully finished basement. I wanted something that had a fairly open concept main floor that was built no earlier then 2002; while Berith wanted something that had good access to transit. I was fairly certain we wanted to stay in the south. After a couple of whirlwind tours, we saw a few we liked—and a few we really hated. It became evident, after looking at a few homes with major issues (that Berith pushed hard on due to how close to transit they were), that I didn’t want anything that required any major renovations. Paint—sure, flooring—I guess but I didn’t want to replace a roof or windows, fix a cracked or sunken driveway, or replace appliances within the first year (I have a collie to move out here after all). I wanted something that we could move into now and build/renovate later.
We saw one we liked pretty early in but it went before we could even make an offer. I will admit, we looked at so many houses I can barely remember which one was which. Eventually we found one in Bridlewood we really liked. It wasn’t as open as I had hoped but it did offer a nice yard with two-car oversized garage, big bedrooms and a partly finished basement. It has a few of the features I really wanted (central vac, garburator, garage heater) that weren’t deal breakers. The owners originally listed it at $419,000 but after two months on the market, lowered it to $399,900. Berith and I looked it twice and decided we wanted to make an offer.
Joe did his due diligence and came back to us with a price analysis—on the low-end, $375,000 and on the high end $390,000. When he spoke to the selling realtor, they told him they had other people interested in making an offer. We decided to come in with a strong offer of $385,000 with a possession date of Oct 25th, in an attempt to beat the snow, and they had to update the RPR (real property report) as it was grossly out of date. The next day, the seller had countered our offer: $399,800 if we take possession on Oct 31st or $399,700 if we take possession on Nov 30th, and they were not willing to update the RPR. Joe told me he laughed in the other realtor’s face when they countered but after a brief discussion, we decided to put our best offer forward: $390,000, possession on Nov 24th (at the latest) and RPR is non-negotiable.
Later that day they issued another counter-offer. They agreed to the move in date, they agreed to the RPR but their final price was $397,900. I was unwilling to come up any further as we were already at the top of the fair market value, we decided to walk away. A few days past and we started to look for new places, finding another one we liked that was just above our price range, but we decided to see if we could lowball an offer and sent Joe off to do a price analysis on the property. The next day he called me and told me that first house we put in an offer reached out to him. In the 6 days since our offer, they had 2 more offers fall through on price and were willing to come down and split the difference. They offered all the same conditions but this time $395,000. Berith, Neox and I discussed it and decided to go for it (with interest rates on the rise, I decided I’d pay more than $5000 extra in interest if my rate guarantee expired). We put in an offer at $395,000 with all the same terms later that morning.
A few hours later, Joe calls me up and told me they are countering the offer again, they had two changes they wanted to make. Initially in the offer, we included the alarm system in the included goods but apparently the seller was unsure if the alarm was owned or rented, they wanted us to strike out the alarm and said they would include in in good faith should it not be rented. The second change they wanted is they wanted to move up our condition removal date from Oct 4th to Sep 29th, giving us only 3 days to remove the conditions. We agreed to the first change but held fast on the second, explaining to the seller it takes at least a week to approve financing and book a home inspection. Finally, they accepted and the deal was done.
So, all that is left is getting my lawyer involved, signing the final paperwork (mortgage, land-transfer), checking their RPR and packing before we wait to move in.

Life Update - Australia, Bal'kar Live QA and Major News
Posted 8 years agoSo I just arrived home after 5 amazing weeks visiting with my wonderful boyfriend Neox in Australia. I can't begin to talk about how amazing and utterly unbelievable the entire trip was.
The trip started with a very passionate meeting as I trudged my way into the arrivals area of the airport, having been awake for nearly 30 hours. After a few days getting my body on Australia time we made the long drive from Sydney to Surfer's Paradise for Fur-du. Fur-du was a lot of fun and I got to meet a lot of great people (and some not so great ones). By North American standards, fur-du is a tiny convention (by comparison, there are more furries at most of our smallest cons then fur-du, their largest / 2nd largest depending whom you ask) but that didn't stop it from garnering a big con feel to it.
After fur-du, Neox and I made our way up to Cairns (pronounced Cans btw, Australians apparently like to leave our letters when they pronounce things). We spent 4 days in a jungle-resort which was amazing before delving into the Daintree Rainforest. From there we went out and saw crocs and cassowaries among other things. On our last day, we went up to the great barrier reef and snorkeled around the reef.
After our Cairns trip, we returned to Sydney where we worked on the last big bal'kar update we did. Many many days of writing, rewriting, proofreading and more but we got it done; only taking a break in the middle of it to head out to the blue mountains and visit the jenolan caves-- and I have to say it was amazing.
We held our first ever bal'kar live QA on my last night. That went better then I could have expected. Attendance was a bit scarce but to be fair, we didn't pick a time/date that was good for most people. We picked a time/date that fit within our limited schedule so we could do it together before I had to leave. Going forward we will try to both do them more regularly and more scheduled.
Now I did promise some major news. On my second to last day there, Neox and I decided to go into Sydney CBD so I could see the Opera House and look around the city. A few days before our planed trip in, Pierric found us tickets for a Sydney Harbor boat cruise and dinner for vivid, an annual multi-week light show the city puts on. We do the touristy stuff in the city then board the boat for our dinner. It was here Neox asked me a question. Not just a question but THE question. And as if it was a sign from some unknown force, shortly after asking it, the boat turned to face the Sydney Opera House which was covered in tentacles from the light show...
So there is the big news, I am officially engaged. Holy fuck, I am engaged... I can't believe it. But it is official.

The Written Word
Posted 9 years agoSo as many of you know, I love to write. Crafting a story that invokes the imagination and lets the reader experience another world to me is a huge passion. But in a fandom that thrives on creativity and creation I am starting to notice a very profound lack of appreciation for furry authors and writers. People shower artists with love and admiration for drawing a wolf with a dick but barely pay any attention to those of us who craft a story. Now this isn't about artists who can draw vs writers. I think creativity in any form is a nobel persuit. But I feel that those of us who choose to write rarely get the same praise, admiration or heck even respect as those who can draw.
I had one person tell me "well writing isn't anything special anyone can write. You need to be talented to draw." But these people clearly haven't seen how much work goes into writing a cohesive story. Making sure the language flows and the scene is vivid. In making sure the story makes sense. Sure an artist can draw a fox in a blue shirt. But a writer can talk about the fox who's shirt mirrors the sky on a bright sunny day. Who's fur catches the slightest breeze sending the strands of brown hair to dance to a melody only they know.
I have noticed that, when I take the time to write a story, few people actually take the time to read it. This saddens me, greatly. People come, look at the art and fail to experience the world set in word and let their imaginations run free. When as a fandom did we develop such a aversion to the written word? Where the furry authors are forgotten and imagination is left to stagnate and rot. I realize the fandom has a lot of visual stimulation but if we fail to appreciate our writers soon the pen (or keyboard as it were) may grow still and we will loose something great forever.
The irony of this journal is most of you whom I speak to will not read it. Seeing the words upon the page and deciding that to think and imagine is too much work.

Becoming a Dragon
Posted 9 years agoJust a short journal post for now. I will likely write up a story when I have some time but I had some big news to share. I am now officially a dragon. A lot of you are probably wondering how this happened, after all anyone who knows me, knows my almost fanatical love of wolves. My Master, Vene, decided the other day that I would make a good dragon and just like that he decided that was going to be the case. So there we go I am now a dragon. Now before people freak out, I support the idea completely. I love dragons almost as much as I love wolves and fear not, wolf Gola is not gone, he gets to come out to play on full moons.
Anyways that is it for now. Exciting times ahead.

I'm Back!
Posted 9 years agoWell work has finally calmed down and I have a bit more time to myself. So yeah! I am back! I should be posting stuff on FA again soon.
About All This FA Anger
Posted 9 years agoOkay so this journal will attempt to explain the FA hacks in a simple way and explain to all of you who are hating on FA why you need to stop.
So first imagine, if you will, you own a house let's call it FA. It's a nice house, you let your friends, we will call them users, visit and you even setup some rooms they can come and hang out in. You give them all a key and say "come in an enjoy". Sadly you don't know all your friends. In fact you know a tiny fraction of them but you are still happy to share your space and let them do the same.
Now let's say some of those friends are not that friendly, we will call them hackers. Instead of sitting and enjoying the space you setup for them they constantly are trying to get into the rest of the house. They check every door to see if it's unlocked. Even bang on the walls looking for weak spots. They call up your security company and try to pretend to be you and try to get in anyway they can. You are fairly confident you have every way they can get in blocked and secure.
Now let's say you hire a caterer called imagemagik to provide food (image processing) to your guests. After all you are a nice guy and why not. It makes the space more enjoyable. Imagemagik comes reccomended by a lot of people and they provide food for a lot of other people who want to serve snacks to their users. Everything goes fine for a long time.
Now let's say one day you find out that the Imagemagik guy had a problem with how he does business. It's not a big deal but you find out he leaves his keys in his truck wed night. So you have a chat with him and get him to stop. No biggie, but as it turns out in the short time between you finding out and you dealing wit it (patching) someone used his keys to steal the blueprints to your house.
All of a sudden these hackers can look over the blueprints and spot every weak wall or every lock that just doesn't close perfectly that you may not been aware of. They use this info to sneak into your house in the middle of the night and trash the place. Stealing some info on your friends.
This is what happened to FA. A zero-day exploit allowed someone to download a copy of their source which allowed them to find additional security holes the staff were not aware of. Sadly there is no magic "find my bugs" button on code. Especially a code base as large as FA's. So all of you who are screaming at FA please remember. They didn't hack the site. Someone else did. And that someone is the one to blame for all of this. The admin team at FA did a great job considering what a raw hand they were dealt.
So please, stop with all this FA hate. If you want to leave the site then by all means. Go ahead but stop screaming at the staff as you leave. And before you whine "but Gola they let my personal data get out" I need to ask you, what personal data. You mean your email address you use on 1001 other sites who at least one likely sold it by now? Or do you mean your encrypted password hashes? Which if you are still using a single password for every site out there then let me know who you are cause I am sure one of those 1001 other sites you use your password on has it stored as plain text somewhere. There are tons of password managent tools out there that allow you to have unique passwords on every site and only need to remember one master password.

Virus on FA - NOT REAL
Posted 9 years agoBefore I get another person sending me a note about this alleged virus, it isn't FA. For those who don't know, a user is claiming he got a virus from FA. The virus is called DNS Unlocker. This did NOT come from FA. This is a program the user had to install themselves either directly or (more likely) as part of a freeware software bundle. The program injects its own ads into sites (and bypasses adblock in some cases) and is not very discerning about where they get the ads from so it is very likely to catch a virus FROM a DNS Unlocker injected ad (which is what happened to the OP). A quick google search told me all this.

Seriously people I know we hate ads on FA but FA staff know this. This is why they use Google Ad Services for the G-rated ads (which guarantees virus free ad content) and they are VERY selective about which adult ads to show on the site. They all know how much you hate the ads but web servers aren't free and neither is the shit tons of storage we use on here. So stop with the "sky is falling" crap and just accept that to have a large furry site full of all this awesome art, someone has to pay the bill.

Vancoufur, New Fursuit and General Updates
Posted 9 years agoOkay so this is the second time I have had typed this... FA your new template sucks for hiding links.
So I can't believe it is only 3 more days till I head off to Vancoufur! It is going to be amazing heading home and going to a con in my old stomping grounds! I am really looking forward to being able see
Lace again. What is even more exciting is that I get to see an old and good friend of mine from my early days of furry back when I lived in Victoria. It is going to be amazing getting to see and spend some time with
SabretoothedErmine again, it has been well over 10 years! Furthermore I am so looking forward to getting to meet some new friends face to face for the first time, I am looking at you
Dietereign and
KarebAndStuff.
So if anyone is going to Vancoufur and wants to meet up, drop me a note and we will arrange something!
Okay now on two item #2. That is right, I got me a new fursuit! It has been 13 years since I got a new one and I have to say,
Roogan did such an amazing job. It is comfortable and looks amazing. I can wear it for hours (and have already). Oh what's that? You want to see pictures? Sorry, won't be sharing any pics till AFTER Vancoufur. So if you want to see it you will need to come to Vancoufur or wait till I post pics after the con.
So now onto general life update. Work has been kicking my ass royally lately. My boss quit on Friday without warning which sucks because I really liked him. I am still working on a story for
Dietereign and am editing the story
DarkWolfSwordsman65 wrote for me featuring my own origin story. To top it all off, I have to go back to editing the bal'kar wiki with
Neox... so much to do, hopefully this vacation time will give me a chance to really get a ton done.
In other news I may have converted a certain leather daddy to furry! He tried on my old fursuit and was hooked. I am so excited because he is such a great guy it will be amazing to see him explore his furry-side!
Relationship wise things between me and
Neox are going amazing, even despite the distance and the shitty ass timezones. I find myself more and more attracted to him each day. My other relationships are going well too.
BerithBonesmasher and I are watching Hunter x Hunter together. I love watching anime with him, we both get super geeky!

So if you want to see it you will need to come to Vancoufur or wait till I post pics after the con.So now onto general life update. Work has been kicking my ass royally lately. My boss quit on Friday without warning which sucks because I really liked him. I am still working on a story for
Dietereign and am editing the story
DarkWolfSwordsman65 wrote for me featuring my own origin story. To top it all off, I have to go back to editing the bal'kar wiki with
Neox... so much to do, hopefully this vacation time will give me a chance to really get a ton done.In other news I may have converted a certain leather daddy to furry!
I love watching anime with him, we both get super geeky!Fur-Eh Christmas Party 2015 Recap
Posted 10 years agoWhoa, so yea I did the fur-eh Christmas party this year here in town. I will say we had more furs at the Christmas party then I have seen at some cons! Despite being overwhelmed by the sheer volume of people I didn't know, I had a great time with the few I know.
First I need to give a major thank you and shout to the people who made that party totally kick ass:

Wait... what? 500+ Watchers?
Posted 10 years agoWhen the heck did that happen? So apparently in the last few days I hit 500+ watchers. This blows my mind beyond belief.
So let me first say to everyone who choose to watch me either because of the art I have commissioned, because of the stories I have written or because you are my friends... thank you. I had never thought I would care when I hit an arbitrary number of watchers before but now that I am here, it feels good to see people enjoying my taste in art or my writing.
I think I will celebrate sometime in the future with doing a raffle and commissioning an artist for some art but with xmas coming up it will likely not be till the new year.
Anyways to all my watchers, to all of you who favored stuff I posted and especially to all of you who took the time to comment. Thank you! I appreciate every one of you!

Relationship News
Posted 10 years agoHey everyone,
I have some pretty exciting news I wish to share with everyone. Rather then beating around the bush I will just come out and say it. Neox and I are now officially mates. Our feelings for each other came as a bit of surprise for both of us and what was more surprising was the level in which those feelings manifested themselves. We have both spoken to all the various people who have a vested interest in our lives (his boyfriend, my two boyfriends) and they all have given us their blessings. Our love for each other and for the bal'kar has brought us closer then we could have imagined. Anyways, just felt I wanted to share those details with everyone.
Gola
Edit: Just to clarify, us loving each other does not take away from how much we love our existing boyfriends, it only adds to our love. Love isn't a finite resource but rather an infinite one. It just means we both recognize there is something great between us and we wish to see where it takes us.

Story Crafting - A Quick FAQ
Posted 10 years agoIt seems I get to do a new FAQ to answer a few questions I have been getting lately. Thank you everyone who takes the time to send me notes with questions or comments on stories in the art I commission. I appreciate every single one of them.
Q: Why do you take so much time to create stories behind much of the art you commission? Doesn't that take a lot of work?
A: Yes it does take a very insane level of work to write these stories but for me it is worth it. Creating these unique worlds and events behind as much art as I can, I feel, elevates the art and makes every favorite I get on the art earned instead of getting favorites off another person's hard work that I simply paid for.
Q: How do you come up with the stories?
A: Most times the story is already in my head when I commission the art. When I commission art I try to ask myself: "What is happening and why is it happening?" I find thinking of the backstory and event the art is depicting helps shape the my idea on what I want the art to look like. Obviously this isn't always the case, sometimes I get a YCH or a piece of art and a story just comes to me then and there.
Q: I want to discuss the story or elements of the story can I?
A: OMG yes, please do. There is nothing more I like then hearing what people think of the story or have someone who becomes so invested in the story they want to talk about it or even discuss points they feel I overlooked. I will even try to answer these in story form. For a great example of this see comments on: A New Kind of War Machine Part 2.
Q: Are you a professional writer?
A: Oh goodness no. I love writing but writing is a fun hobby.
Q: How did you get so good at writing?
A: Thank you to the person who asked me this. While I don't think my writing is anything ground breaking or earth shattering, I am flatted you think it is good. My writing skill comes from the shear number of books I have read in my life and my storytelling comes from playing (and more then often DMing) games like D&D since I was 6 years old (thanks Dad!).
Q: Can I get a story from you?
A: Writing is more of a hobby for me then something I care to make money from doing. That being said I will occasionally do commissions or trades. Send me a note with your idea and we can talk about it.
Q: Can you edit my story?
A: Gah! Yes I can but just like above I am not doing this for the money. If you really want me to edit your story send me a note and we can talk about it.
Q: Can you help me write better?
A: I can give you some free advise. Never start two sentences back to back with the same word. Read your writing out loud, if you stumble there is likely an awkward sentence there, try rearranging the word order. Avoid giant paragraphs, they are hard to read, instead split the paragraph when the main idea of the paragraph changes. Don't be afraid to rewrite sections. I rewrite 50% of what I write because it doesn't flow the way I want. And please, pick one tense and stick to it. We aren't time lords!
Thank you everyone who took the time to send me a note! It is surprising when people take the time to send me a note to talk about the stuff I have done or to ask a question. So once again thank you!

Recent Changes - A Quick FAQ
Posted 10 years agoSo as many have figured out, Gola has joined the ranks of the Bal'kar. As such I have been getting a few questions that I will try to publicly answer.
Q: What the heck are Bal'kar?
A: Bal'kar is a species created by
Neox. You can find an awesome summary about there over here: Bal'kar Overview by Neox
Q: Aren't you just copying Neox?
A: No, I had spoken to Neox some time ago and we had discussed my becoming a Bal'kar. Neox was very excited at the prospect of Gola becoming a Bal'kar and worked with me helping me design my Bal'kar form, letting me know what I could change and what I needed to keep the same. I am very grateful to him for his help and this wouldn't have been possible without his input and patience while I asked a million and one questions. Gola becoming a Bal'kar was done both with Neox's permission and blessing.
Q: But.. but... Gola you were a cute fluffy white wolf and now you are...
A: Not so much a question but a statement but I will do my best to answer it. Gola is now what he was meant to be. I can still appear as a wolf and in fact will for a large amount of the time. Just now I am something more and there are so many more possibilities.
Q: Why a Bal'kar?
A: The answer is fairly obvious if you know me. Bal'kar align so perfectly with my own series of interests it almost felt like Neox designed Bal'kar with me in mind. Add to the fact that I have always had a deep love of the Zerg from StarCraft it just made sense to me. The more I read about Bal'kar the more I had toyed with the idea. Finally, after talking with Neox I just said "fuck it, let's do it" And here we are!
Q: How did you become a Bal'kar? Is there a story behind it?
A: Indeed there is a story. I have been working with
Neox and
DarkWolfSwordsman65 to get the story told. While I don't have anything to share yet, stay tuned. There are fun things in the works!
Q: I had wanted to get a commission with you but now I am afraid you will corrupt me / transform me / consume me / etc?
A: Well fear not! Pre-Bal'kar Gola will still exist in the past. For the few commissions where my Bal'kar self isn't the best suited for it, old me will still be around. I just plan to get a majority of my new stuff as a Bal'kar.
Q: Wait... is that why your eyes are green now instead of the gold?
A: Yes
Q: I don't like the fact you are a Bal'kar now. I am going to unwatch you.
A: I became a Bal'kar for me. I love my character and I love who and what he is. I have been a white wolf for over 13 years and I felt a change was in order. I have been fascinated with Bal'kar since the very first comic of Neox's in which he revealed Bal'kar. This choice of mine had not been made lightly. Even if I spent most of my time in my wolf form changing my eye color from gold to green was a heart wrenching experience, but one I do not regret. When I sat down and drew the new eyes and finished coloring them I knew right then this change was the right choice for me.
Q: How will you different from Neox?
A: I assume you talk about in our Bal'kar forms, because outside of those forms he is a Collie and I am a wolf. Hopefully I will be able to demonstrate for you soon but while most of what makes us Bal'kar is shared, there are a subtle differences between us. I am hoping that in time people will be able to see this differences and recognize oh that is Neox and oh that is Gola.
Q: Aren't you afraid of people thinking you are Neox?
A: Character identity is important to me. Having my character recognizable as himself was a big part of my discussion with Neox. We both felt the same way that we wanted our Bal'kar forms to be similar but stand apart in some way or another. The next step for me is working with an artist to draw up those changes and to ensure that we are indeed different enough. A big fear of mine is that people will see Gola in his Bal'kar form and just think its Neox.
Okay that is it for now. If you have any questions I didn't cover please ask them below. Once again a big shout out goes to Neox for this help in first creating the Bal'kar and second helping me become one.

Posted 10 years agoSo some of you already know this, but for those of you don't, the last few years I have been neglectful of myself and due to poor diet and lack of exercise, I put on nearly 80 pounds of weight. I recently decided to change that and have started to work on getting in shape. With some help from
Eric_the_bull, I started a low carb diet and a workout plan. For the diet the biggest changes were simple, I cut all sources of sugar (pop being the biggest) and 90% of the carbs out of my diet. The few carbs I am eating I am trying to front load in the morning whenever I can. I am now working on portion size, my goal is to cut portions in half.
Last week was the first week of my exercise routine designed to burn off some of the weight and put on some muscle. The program is 6 days on, 1 day off every week. With each workout being 30 minutes a day and the entire program being three months. And I am proud to say I finished week one. With the love and support of a few great people ( you know who you are, you don't need me to name you I'd hope ) I am slowly getting this done. So as not to spam peoples journals, I plan to use this journal as my main update journal for anyone who cares enough to watch my progress. I will update it each Monday with how I am doing.
Week 1: Well it was touch and go there at the beginning, after the first three workouts I was sure I was going to die lol but I pushed through it. By the fourth day it started becoming easier and last night, day six, I felt more confident and was able to get through the entire routine without stopping. So proud of myself right now. I am down to 292 pounds. Diet so far is going well, still working on portion sizes.
Week 2: I injured my knee at some point and have been struggling. I pushed forward however and didn't miss a single workout (though I had to cut one a minute short because my knee was threatening to give out. I am down to 288 pounds! Appetite has gone down drastically in the evening. Still struggle with portion side during the day but I don't know if having a big salad is a bad thing. Next week I start level 2 and I am terrified.
Week 3: First week at level 2. Back to feeling like I am going to die every session. Right now having big problems with weakness in my right ankle and knee. Still pushing myself though. Didn't lose as much weight this week, down to 284 pounds but still gaining ground. One more week to finish off month one. I may end up sticking at level 2 for an extra week if I can't handle some of the exercises yet, need to build up those core muscles.

Guest Appearance - Faithry Comic
Posted 10 years agoSo I got home yesterday to see that I was a special guest in Faithry's latest comic! I hadn't expected to be picked but apparently the commissioner liked my character!
I seem to be in a some sort of predicament... not that you'll see me complain. I am on page 7 if you want to check it out and take a look! I will link the first page and the page I am on here.
Internship - Page 1
Internship - Page 7 (Featuring Me)
Internship - Page 9 (Featuring Me)
If the commissioner reads this, let me just say thank you so much for picking me! You made my day!
Edit: And I am back! On page 9 this time. Woot! That looks like its a ton of fun!

Alternate Universe Story - Need a Volunteer
Posted 10 years agoHey everyone,
So I have started working on a story project which I will be calling my Alternate Universe Project. This will consist of a series of stories (and likely a series of pictures I will have commissioned to go with the stories) set in a future scifi universe.
So without giving too much away the story focuses on a race of Sergals. If you don't know what a Sergal is, google it. If you wish to be in the story there is a catch. You either need to already be, have an alt that is or be willing to be a Sergal (in the context of the alternate universe). For now I have need of a single Sergal character. I will likely need others later and will post another journal when I need more volunteers. So the stuff, this will consist of a one or more stories in which your character will be involved in. There is a chance a character could die (I haven't figured that out yet) so if you are uncomfortable with someone else using your character or the possibility of your character beings killed (even in this alternate universe I am creating) then please don't apply.
Read everything? Still want to be part of this? To apply send me a note with the following: Your characters name and a ref sheet (if you are not already a Sergal I will use your existing character's colors and features just as s Sergal). I will note the person I pick, anyone I don't pick fear not, this will likely be a big project and I will likely need more characters later.

On Being Rude
Posted 10 years agoSo I recently had someone watch me and leave a shout on my wall in all caps explaining that I need to be his friend because he watched me. Now don't get me wrong. You want to be my friend I suggest talking to me. In fact all the people I am super close to friend wise started by talking to me. So I respond to his shout with the following message: "Thanks for the watch and the message. Even though they call it a shout box you should probably avoid using all caps as this can be seen as yelling. If you want to be friends a good place to start is talking to me and getting to know me. Regards"
To which I get a nasty message in response to the effect of I am not worthy of being his friend and I should just shut up. And he unwatched me.
Now was I out of line to point out common etiquette to him? I have since deleted his shouts and blocked him but still, I feel like there was no need for him to be rude.

Gallery Cleanup and Profile Revamp
Posted 10 years agoWoot!
So with the addition of folders I have been able to do an awesome gallery cleanup / submission revamp. I cleaned up the copyright section of each image to be more consistent and am working on going back to write a story or something for each image (easier said then done sometimes).
Some of you may have noticed I am reworking my profile as well. Hopefully I will get that done soon and be able to provide a better profile for myself going forward!
