I write journals to myself so often; I should write journals for others to see too.

Hey all, been a bit. Sorry I've been posting less in general and have been more scarce all-around. I've been taking the past few years to try and improve my health/mental health. It's been a rough go and my work ethic has suffered, but I'm taking steps every day to try and improve. To heal. A couple years ago I found out the hard way that trauma doesn't go away. It stays and festers and changes you in ways you can't even see. It tends to not come out until you feel safe enough to start processing it. Finally got to that point where it was safe enough to remember.

I started having flashbacks of my terrible childhood and the various abuses I suffered at the hands of (mostly) family members. It explains... so much of what I struggle with to this day. I had kind of blocked it out and rejected "home" as soon as I could. No one back home cared or was attentive to my needs and so I never learned how to have my needs met, never learned to work toward something better, abandoned intimacy as something that had been beaten out of me, and was always stuck in survival mode with limbic brain in full effect. Well. That's different now and I can model my life as a place without such chaos. I wish I had been able to understand this sooner, but that's just how it goes with CPTSD.

So its been rough. Most days, my mental health keeps me from working as much as I'd like. I don't want to use that as an excuse - I want to tell my story. I've had to study it, dissect it, read books about it. I've been beaten and betrayed and I am often uncomfortable with myself and others, and I know why now. It took a lot of therapy and medicine and my mind splitting into pieces, but we finally got there! People keep expressing surprise when they find out what my boundaries are so I'm just gonna drop it here; being close to people does not come naturally to me, and it can take a lot of effort from both parties for that to even happen. If you are in my personal space, I am on high alert. My social phobia is at an all-time high even as I take steps to heal. Conventions are scary and overstimulating, where they used to be a big source of my creative energy.

I'm hoping that when the wounds finally heal I can comfortably sit with a drawing again without chronic depression and dysregulation kicking my ass. I'm not looking for pity. I just want to be understood.

Its come to my attention I have barely uploaded anything since like November, which means my patreon sketches from October on need to be released! That's... a lot!!

I don't know why but this happens almost every year. I always kind of get busy and go into hibernation during the winter months. Either its because I'm gearing up to travel and visit family a bunch, or something about the season actually affects me. I tend to get bad mood swings, get socially overwhelmed from having to go to parties and be around family, and travel gives me lots of anxiety sometimes too. BIG APOLOGIES, I am going to remedy this. I am sitting on a massive pile of sketches that need to be released! Ah! They're late!

I'm moving into an apartment TOMORROW HOLY SHIT why am I still on the computer there is so much to do oh yeah

I'm setting up a PATREON. It's mostly done but feels a bit unfinished... Needs actual graphics and stuff. I'm going to officially launch it AFTER the move so I can make sure everything goes smoothly and I can work on all the juicy content I'm going to be running through it, like Sketch subscriptions and polls for rule 32 art and YCH themes.

OKAY I realize I've been really quiet on this site for absolute ages. I apologize. Lots of shit has been happening. I've mostly just been doing updates on twitter.

I got evicted last October with only about a month to prepare for it. It was horrible, I got stabbed in the back by a now ex friend who didn't care if I had anywhere to go afterwards, it came at LITERALLY the worst possible time, shit has been in turmoil since, and I haven't had a lot of time or freedom to just make art whenever I wanted like I used to. I've just been living with friends since then.

BUT! I am finally getting my own place soon!! Me and a couple friends are chipping in to get a townhouse apartment together and I'll finally have some stability back in my life again, yay! That means I can stream art again, have my own work space, have a set schedule - all the cool stuff that comes with having an actual place that you live at! I'm hoping to not only get back into taking more commissions, I also plan to make a patreon to fund personal art and even BIGGER projects, and also hit up cons more. I am, with high certainty, going to be trying out a subscription service for monthly sketches. If I like it and people are interested I'll keep it around, probably working through Patreon. It would be a limited number of slots but if people free up a space I can push updates about it. I will have slots for 2 character and single character toned sketches and if you buy in you'll also get to see whatever I'm putting on Patreon!

I'm trying to build more of a community. FA just seems so distant lately, and so many people have abandoned it and I'm looking for ways to branch out. I'll probably also start posting on Tumblr and/or Instagram now that I feel happy enough with my work to show it off publicly.

I finally got back from Christmas stuff after a week aaaand some problems are going on. Looks like my janky-ass computer is gonna need some work. It's having issues I can't even begin to describe, and everyone's best guess is that its a Motherboard issue. I wont be able to post many updates on here until I get it fixed up and that could be a week or two. Not sure how long it will take exactly =/

Its unstable enough that I don't want to try and work on digital projects. Some functionality, such the save-as command, just drop out sometimes. Not sure what the next FAILURE is gonna be and I don't want to lose time on a file. I have been doing a few traditional works in the sketchbook and taking pics of them with my phone. Been a long time since I've done an actual update and let people know what was going on with me. Been a weird year!

For those that don't know, I got hired to do a COMIC and its been taking up a good deal of my time, hence the not doing as many commissions lately.

I am going to do a batch of pictures for Firon that I worked out with him - stuff I can grind away on quickly between comic pages. Its one of those "rent an artist" deals. I'm going to be streaming them as I work down the queue for the rest of the month, so look out for the occasional stream.

My grandad died recently and I haven't gotten any work done in days. Been pretty quiet too, when I'm not venting on twitter. Sorry about that. I've been trying to distract myself.

General Things:

1. Client must be 18 years of age or older if purchasing adult works.

2. I reserve the right to decline any commission without explanation.

3. Base prices are subject to change according to the complexity, difficulty, and size of each piece.

4. I will be sending thumbnails, progress shots, and a digital link to the final product in the email you provide me with. Make sure you check this information thoroughly.

5. I may want to stream (provide a live video feed of) your commission while I work on it. I typically try to contact the client before I do this. The Client can ask for their commission not to be streamed if they wish.

6. Clients are free to request edits and alterations at multiple stages in the commission process - the earlier the better. I reserve the right to decline editing a commission. Most likely scenarios for this are requesting changes too late in the design process, or edits that go beyond the scope of the original commission and its source material.

7. I reserve the right to charge extra for major edits and alterations.

8. Upon completion, artwork will be delivered to the Client via the email provided as a full-sized PNG and a browser-friendly JPG. Other formats can be provided on request.





Payment:

1. Paypal invoice only. USD only.

-If Invoice is not an option:
Always include your FA name or last name on your FB when sending payment in the NOTE section.
Always send under GOODS AND SERVICES.
NEVER put in your mailing address. Mark it as “No Mailing Address”.

2. I will send you an invoice for the amount required for your commission after I have accepted your commission.

3. Payment for sketches is due in advance. For works beyond sketches, payment is not due until after I send you the first progress shot, WIP, or thumbnail for the image.

4. If the Client wishes to cancel their commission after payment has been processed I reserve the right to refuse. If I do issue a refund, I will issue a partial refund based on the amount of work I've already done - this is based on percentage complete and at my discretion due to the complexities of having multiple levels of rendering and types of commission.




Disclaimer/Rights

1) I reserve the right to display all commissioned work on any public website, gallery, or space. (I can delay the release of a commissioned image upon request, e.g. gifts)

2) The Artist retains ALL the rights to the commissioned artwork, including the right to make prints and merchandise. I DO NOT have the right to sell the illustration if the commission contains a copyrighted character or your intellectual property ( your OC or fursona ). I own the rights to the illustration, NOT your characters.

3) The Client is free to display the artwork on personal websites, galleries, and profiles and make crops and size alterations for these purposes.

4) The Client may make PERSONAL prints of the commissioned artwork for personal private use only; not for resale, commercial use, or public display.

5) The Client may not profit from the artwork, may not make alterations or renderings not agreed upon, and may not use the artwork commercially. Any of these rights will only be issued by express written permission from the Artist.

I'm going to be taking on new commissions in the next week or so, to be completed over the next couple of months. I was thinking of doing things a little bit differently this time; I noticed a few artists who just leave up an open web form and anyone is free to fill it out, as many people/ideas as they want, and the artist simply picks the ones they like the most out of the group and then close the web form when they're full.

I was THINKING I might give that a shot the next time I open. Seems to allow a decent amount of flexibility in the process! But it also sounds a little chaotic. I might be neck-deep in forms to read while people hopeful for commissions are left waiting and wondering if they got a slot. But on the other hand I'd be able to hand pick all my works for variety and things relevant to my interests!

Do any artists/commissioners out there have experience with this kind of system? I'd like to hear any thoughts related to handling commissions like this before I try it out, be they reviews, tips, or concerns.

-Solo Pinup Sketches start at $40. Two-Character sketches start at $75. I do clean and adult works.

-Limit 2 characters per sketch. Various props, clothing, and feathered wings are +$5 (per character if applicable). Limit of 4 props. No backgrounds.
-Limit two slots per person!
-For very nondescript "prop" characters, +10 per character. Just need to know a species if you have anthros in mind. Limit of 2 there.

Its a new year and the new commission rate changes I mentioned are up on my front page! The comic panels are kind of modular and variable; if you want a comic page just ask me about it (Most of the comic pages I've done so far came out around the $200 range for 6 colored panels) All commissions are by default digital. If you want traditional artworks, know that they will have a longer turn-over rate and possibly higher rates to cover materials.

Going to open for commissions tomorrow afternoon! Trying something new this time. I will select commissions based on random draw: whoever posts on the journal will be added to the pool, and I'll make the selection after a 24 hour period. You don't have to post here, it'll be another journal =P I'll also post a submission alert.

Due to higher demand for my artworks I'm no longer going by first come first serve basis. I kept feeling bad for late risers and people who just got off work when my queue was filling up in 10-30 minutes. I hope this is a little more fair for everyone!

Those comic commissions took longer than expected. But I'm finally done, woo! I'm going to post my new rates tomorrow and I'll open for commissions again later this week.

I've noticed the first come-first serve method of taking commissions has been a bit hard for some people. It used to work great in the past, but I've been filling up so quick lately that for people with schedules different from mine I'm all but unavailable. I plan on rethinking my commission submission process, either to randomly picking from those listed or hearing ideas and picking favorites. I think I like the idea of grabbing a big list of names and having an RNG choose, but maybe always let the first person in get one. That seems cool, and would also give my followers on other sites a chance to get a commission. That's been on my mind, anyway.

I also feel like I need to start broadening my horizons professionally. But doing furry commissions is a lot of fun ;n;

Hey everyone. This past year has been a very good year! I set my ship to sea nearly one year ago with a solitary goal in mind: I was going to be a freelance artist this year, and every year forward that I could muster. With relatively little planning involved I kicked off from shore, taking very much a leap of faith into waters I had only ever briefly visited. It's been my dream to do this for a very long time, and I was willing to conquer any hardships that came my way. I had a very rough start, but with the support of all those who bought a commission from me I was able to make it one full year off of just what I'm making from my art, which isn't a lot yet, but I'm just starting out!

I wanted to briefly thank everyone who's been buying my commissions, regularly or not, for helping me live a dream I've had since I was a kid. When I was 10 and drawing raptor warriors and wolf men I never thought I'd actually be making it as an artist on this stuff - now I can't believe how many interested people have been showing up lately to buy my pictures. I've learned a lot since I started, and I'm confident I'll be able to keep this going. Thank you everyone on here for showing interest in my art and trusting me with your money! My reputation is important to my continued success, and a lot of people have even trusted me enough to pay me in advance last month (almost unheard of in these waters).

So after this year, I've become a little wiser and realize I set my prices a bit low. I'm committed to making quality pictures, and cutting corners is something I haven't been able to bring myself to do, so I need to consider paying myself properly for working hard. I'm going to bump my prices up a little next year so that I'm doing more than living paycheck to paycheck. Expect to see some new rates, about a $5-$20 difference on most things. Prices for extra characters will be a little closer to base commission price, full color base will be up to $90 but will include a minimalist background(which I've seen to be a common rate for that kind of picture), and sketches will by closer to $40.

I'm sorry if this makes my pictures less affordable to some people. I know what it's like to be in that boat =< I don't want to make things harder for those who don't make much, but a lot of people have been telling me I charge too little - and it certainly feels that way. If I'm undercutting other artists by too much, I'm dragging the market down, too! And I need to be able to afford things again! So it's important I make this change.

However, as a thank you to this community for supporting me and my drawing habit, I'm doing one more month at my old rates. Payment on ink/color commissions is only due after I've given you the initial planning sketch. Sketch commissions are due in advance!

Edit: WOW this filled up in the time it took me to take a shower. Holy crap, thanks guys XD Since I have a few sketches in the queue I added one extra slot.

So I upgraded to windows 10 today. I'm noticing some changes in the way my tablet handles and functions. I am not happy.

Wacom is notorious for having pretty bad drivers anyway, so I wasn't surprised to run into a few little bugs. After a fresh install of Windows 10, the problems were plaguing me. Apparently Photoshop is using Window's built-in stylus support app, "Windows Ink" for most of its functionality. Why they would rely on Microsoft for professional drawing applications I have no idea, because it really isn't working well together. You pretty much have to turn off all the options and "extra goodies" that come with this app because they were meant for touch screen users to surf the web with.

You SHOULD be able to fix this problem by disabling windows Ink, so I did and viola', many of them went away. And then so did my pen pressure sensitivity in photoshop. So that fix was out the door. With Windows Ink on, you have lots of "little extras" that pop up and like to obstruct the view of what you're doing. Disabling the press and hold functions fixed that, as well as some other things. However! When holding modifier keys like Shift, the word Shift pops up and follows my cursor around. Couldn't find a setting for that. When trying to pan around the viewing area, Windows Ink has some bizarre threshold you have to pass before it registers what you're doing. So you can only move in larger increments... No more smooth panning. Can't find a fix for that. It also seems to apply this threshold to other tools on occasion, making them bump around in odd ways.

The Fix! (so far)
After some research I found a registry edit fix that promises to restore original functionality. It is as follows:
Create a text file in a text editor such as Notepad.
Type in the following lines:
# Use WinTab
UseSystemStylus 0
Save the file as a plain text file named PSUserConfig.txt, and save the file into the Photoshop settings folder: C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 Settings\
Then start Photoshop.

It is working so far! I can hold buttons and safely pan around the screen. No obstruction, smooth cursor. Has anyone else had to do this fix? Know any problems associated with it?

Edit: Also, I made a special instance in my Wacom pen settings for Photoshop and disabled Windows Ink for just that application. Seems to work nice. Also I have an Intuos 5 Medium

Starting another batch of streamed sketches! This time you have the option of getting them with flat color for +$15 per character! Also I'm now limiting these to two slots per person since I'm getting a lot of interested parties lately. Remember, I prioritize people that are in the stream so they can provide feedback!

Commissioning Me
-Post in this journal to set your place in line.
-An existing character reference is required! (A ref sheet or at least two pictures of the character)
-Solo Pinup Sketches start at $33. Two-Character sketches start at $60. I do clean and adult works.
-Extra panels(zooms and the like) and internal windowed shots for +$15 per panel
-NEW Color Flats! +$15 per char
-Limit 2 characters per sketch. No backgrounds. Various props, clothing, and feathered wings are +$5 (per character if applicable). Limit of 4 props.
-Limit two slots per person!
-I will do partials, for those who want them or just can't afford much. (Busts, headshots, waist-down only, etc) I can do a $20 base with +$15 per partial character. (+tax)
-For very nondescript "prop" characters, I can count at the prop rate of +$5 per. It'll basically be an outline though, or whichever body part you want featured! Just need to know a species if you have anthros in mind. Limit of 4 there.

Payment
-I will send you a PayPal invoice to the email you provide in the form below. You must then verify the payment through paypal before I start working on your commission!
-Stream commissions are to be paid in advance and in full. I currently only take PayPal. So pay fast because I may get to yours quicker than you think!
-I do not offer refunds or compensation for these sketches. If you cannot attend any of the streams, I will simply save your sketch for last.


Other Stuff
-When I am starting a stream I will post announcements to Twitter, FA, and Weasyl.
-I will start the stream sometime in the afternoon; I tend to start around 6PM Central US time. I wont be having a stream every day.
-If you are next on the list, in the stream, and have paid, then it is your turn!
-If you are not there or have not paid when I get to your name in the queue I will move on to the person after you, and so on.
-I tend to do 2 sketches per day, so stand by and you might get yours :D
-I will be streaming on my usual stream site Picarto. If it is having issues I have an account at Furstream.
-I will send download links of your image either in an FA note or to the email address you first contacted me with, or both.
-You can offer suggestions to me in the stream while I am working on your image.
-If I make any mistakes that were clearly shown in the references or notes you sent me, I can make changes even after the stream.
-If I draw anything you feel is wrong and was not clearly represented in the ref or stated in the description you sent, I will not apply fixes after the stream ends. So if you see something that needs a fix during the stream, speak up! Or it may not get changed.
-Remember, if you adopted a character from me and want content of him/her, you get a 10% discount!

I plan to run the streams somewhere between 6 PM and Midnight, Central time(UTC -6). I will close the stream around midnight. If I begin working on your picture during the later end of the stream you must accept that I may not finish them by the time the stream closes, but I can finish and deliver them the next day or the next stream time. I will not be offering refunds. These sketches will have a quick turn-around period, 2 weeks maximum, but I can only do so much per day. I do reserve the right to close streams early if something comes up. I'll be taking periodic breaks during the streams, need to rest these paws D: I typically take days off on Monday and Thursday.

Just in case anyone was wondering why I haven't uploaded stuff lately, my old HD has been dying and I had to replace it. Thought I might upgrade to Photoshop CC and it's taken over a day to get everything back in order (photoshop and tablet settings especially). I ended up installing it wrong the first try... long story v_v I'll be back on my commission queue by tomorrow if everything goes well (this time)

New HD is a Radeon 250gb SSD and is so faaaaast. No more long waits for streams to start any more, that's for sure. But damn, that's one more thing I need to set up, all my streaming settings. Urrrgh new computer stuff can be such a pain.

I still have one gift pic to finish before the queue can be weeded down, but its almost done so no worries!
