The Internet arcade!
General | Posted 11 years agoThis was just released the other day, offical and everything. Over 900 classic games that you can play over your browser, even has controller support. This takes me back to the past, boy I feel old. Knowing pretty much all of these from back in the day. Take a blast to the past with this, old arcade games from the 70s-90s!

[Gaming] The evil within
General | Posted 11 years agoThis little gem now, is amazing. Shinji Maynti got to go buck wild with this and it shows. I.E the godfather of horror games, creator of resident evil up to part 4. From the get go, can just see how demented the game is going to be. And it does, like big time, the visuals itself are just stunning. Though PC users like myself, kinda got jacked over with this release, a patch is going in to fix the letterbox issue that takes up 30% of the screen, and better HD textures.
The game feels like your playing RE4, with a mix of metal gear mixed into it, the sneaking around can be kinda off. Cause you want to just shoot first! sneak later! Not getting away with that in this, ammo is VERY limited in this game. Unless its a scripted horde event or with boss fights. But you can run out of ammo quickly in this game. It builds a lot of nice tension in the game as well, creeping around the chilling places the game takes you. trying to stealth kill the zombie guys, and it can just get down right gross in the backgrounds that you go through. Blood and guts all over, just very disturbing things and monsters. The invisable guys really scared the hell out of me.
Run about 15+ hours of gameplay, with new game plus and un lockables that you can get. So it does have some replay value in it. Not going to spoil anything here with this, have to try it out and see for yourself. I love it a lot, good jump scares, a lot of good horror elements!

[Gaming!] Alien Isolation Hisssss!!!
General | Posted 11 years agoWith the bad taste of colonial marines still in my mouth. And being a huge Alien fan, I picked up Isolation over the weekend and have been going to town on it. These are my first thoughts on the game itself!
From the get go of it, they nailed the atmosphere right on the money, with the locations and the over all look of the game. It does feel like your playing in the first movie, since this one is based 30 years after the events of Alien. Taking the roll of Ripleys daughter, who was never really mentioned at all in the series as a whole. Only briefly in the Aliens special ed movie, this one unlike colonial marines. Is more of a sneak around metal gear solid type of play. IMO fits it more in the sci fi horror of the first movie. The station you go through has that feel of Claustrophobia, tight halls and vents of the ship itself.
Having to deal with the people on board and getting around them and the androids. The game builds a lot on suspense, having very limited ammo and weapons. Ripley being able to build little hand crafted gagdets to work around things.
Then there's the Alien itself, yup just one! holding true to the first movie its just one Xenonorph that you have to deal with. And if it catches you, its game over. Creeping through the halls and rooms, with your face glued to the motion tracker. It will slowly hunt you down, hiding in different things like lockers builds more suspense as it peeks through the grate in at you. Making a prompt command to hold some buttons and lean back to hold your breath, if you release to breath to early. It'll hear you and nom you right up. The AI of the Alien is good as well, the sound effects of its growling and hissing is legit. The "thump thump thump" of its heavy foot steps are creepy. And for a large part of the game so far, its always coming after you.
There's been more then enough times, been trying to put a code in. Or creeping down the hall, to the sudden feeling of its tail getting fucked through my chest, did make me jump in my chair in few accounts on how well they build up the tension in this game, keeps you looking all around. Jackal recomends Alien Isolation if your a fan of the Aliens franchise!

Middle earth, shadows of Mordor
General | Posted 11 years agoThis is my opening impressions on the game. Wait hold on a second!
+Goes off and comes back dressed like an assassin from AC+
Ok, now that this is all set up, yeah. Even from the few hours I've played of it so far, my first thoughts is kinda disapinting, so far. And I think most of the game, is just AC with the lord of the rings name slapped on it. I love AC don't get me wrong, and this type of play is fun, just hit me the wrong way to start out with. See how things change as I play more of the game itself. The voice acting is spot on though, but there's no real depth in different things to plunge my sword into. Orcs...more uruks, and more of them.
Getting killed feels like horrid back tracking though, for the chain of command that grows with the Orc that killed you, so you have to run around and hunt him down. The move on anything isn't as fluid as AC as well, which made me scratch my head. But I'am having some fun with it.

Shadowgate remake
General | Posted 11 years agoWas finally able to get my paws on this, and I must say. From what little I have played of it before going to work this morning, I'm really impressed on how they took and old classic like this and turned it around to what it is now, the music is fantastic. I love the art style of it, and they don't hold your hand as well, the puzzles are mind boggling. Death around every corner.
I highly recommend picking this up if you played the classic version of the game, a lot of the old puzzles are in there with different twists to them, along with tons of other new things.

Warlords!
General | Posted 11 years agoGot done watching the little sneak preview for the up coming expand pack for good ole warcraft. I still do love the look of there openings that they make. Mark the day 11/13/14! coming out sooner that I expected, there was more horde people then alliance to at the live event. FOR THE HORDE!!! \m/
They are really overhauling this one, with all the goodies you can do in it. Going to love Ashrand to get my world pvp fix off besides the return of skirmishes. Going to plop my fort down in the rolling hills of Nagrand. There's even a shout out to leeroy in UBRS, his body is laying down in the whelps, got a chuckle out of that.
But here be the opening for warlords!

The fight comes back!
General | Posted 11 years agoSo its late night, got a bad cold and just roaming around the great internets. When I check back in on WoWhead, to see blizzard is doing something good for a change for there 10 year birthday. Free corehound mount, free cute molten corgi! Making good ole molten core into a level 90 , 40 man LFR.
But the real kicker for me, was that there going to bring back the age old tug-of-war battle, between terrin mill and south shore. In a team death match style battleground. Being a player since vanilla, having done that age old feud for days on end, will be kinda funny to see how it plays out. FOR THE HORDE!! \m/

So its E3 time again, came up quick!
General | Posted 11 years agoOne thing I'm looking for this year, that made my jaw drop last year. Is just some Kingdom hearts 3 <3
Up yours Disney...
General | Posted 11 years agoSo I just got back from seeing Maleficent. I was nervous going into this, since shes my fav villian from anything. I respected the opening showing her and all that, but was "eh" with the king being her lover...I got hype about it following true when she comes to curse the brat. Then....wut...just WHAT DISNEY!!! I can see her fore shadowing and waiting to strike, but just out right being all...Nice...? Prince phillip not even being a key person...Maleficent breaking the curse? Maleficent trying to REMOVE the curse?
There's somethings you just don't change in life, and Maleficent is a bad gal, evil...even in the novels. Hell, I liked the fucking BURD better then Maleficent...who didn't turn into the dragon, but the BURD did...why do you do this Disney... ;-;

General | Posted 11 years agoWhew what a weekend. Was good to go down there and see the folks, and my friends. Had no troubles on the road, my step dad drove like he was on the autobond. So we made it home in record time of 6 hours, to a nice oven for an apartment! yay for A/C! just felt good to just get OUT!! been cramped up for over a year, so to be able to stretch my legs, stuff my face with some of the best food in the nation, ugh going to be working out a lot to work this off x.x
Got my ass kicked at UFGT 10 down there, was just fun to fight even in casuals vs the big named people. All around good time. <3

Soooo....total old school power rangers reboot ya say?
General | Posted 11 years agoSo yes, I've been a good power rangers fan since 93. I haven't watched a lot of the Sentai japanese series. Its just what I grew up with back then. I loved it all and the first movie, and season two as well. ITs kinda where I stopped. But reading up some and with help of the black nerd! I'm kinda giggity for this. Since it is going to be a clean reboot (so they hint) of the 93 series the US got. With a pg-13 rating on it, to keep the charm, but have that little serious feel to it. TAKE ALL MY MONEY! Be cool seeing power rangers on the big screen!

NamcoXCapcom
General | Posted 12 years agoAfter going through projectXzone. Over the past week I just got to thinking about the one that started it all. That we never got back then for the PS2. I have a copy of it gathering dust in my closet. Only played bits and pieces of the the game itself. Since I don't know japanese. So I scrounged up an english translated version of the game and have been going to town with it. I'm really amazed still to this day, how awesome NamcoXCapcom is.
Fans of turned based stads like shining force, final fantasy tactics would dig it. Mix in some god amazing fighting game like combat. Music blows my mind. And now being able to read the story itself, though goofy the story is. The all oringal charaters Renji , Xioama and Saya are cool. And this game is loooooooooong, so many old memories from the cast of old school guys they have in it. Really a cult classic in my eyes. If you can find a copy, give it a try. Jackals approve of this game!

From PAX a very very awesome full length documentary on one of the games I love.
For those that don't know, I've always been a gigantic fan of SF. Even now going on 41 years old this year, I'm still playing SF AE and other fighting games, guess I'm just like Alex Valle :P Yeah I talk smack, and say that I'm awesome when it comes to SF. But the jackal isn't inviciable. Its sad in my area now in the midwest here, arcades have died out totally. For over ten years, there was a place near me where I live. Awesome arcade, the owner Brian would always, get us the newst and best fighting games that ever came out. I sucked back then, I was young, and there was guys older then me that had more time to be at the arcade. I wouls just go on weekends, maybe sometime during the week. But SF was our top games, from hyper fighting all the way up to 3rd strike.
We had our mix of others, primal rage. Marvel super heros, X-men Vs street fighter MVC one and two. Darkstalkers ect. I ended up learning most of my skills that I still hold onto today from those guys at the arcade. I'd get yelled at, for wanting to main sakura in alpha 2. But I ended up getting good with her, proved them wrong. I got my ass hande dto me a lot, I still do on steam from time to time. I miss those guys from back then, even a couple girls that were damn good.
The video did bring little mist to my eyes at a few parts, most form Seth killian . Who is an amazing guy when it comes to SF. If you love fighting games, give the video a watch, it is over an hour in length. But just got that soul of the game in it <333

AHH windows 8
General | Posted 12 years agoSo it was time to get a new computer. Jackals going to be eating ramen for the next couple months now , but got a nice new beast of a rig. Thing is, only had windows 8 for OP systems , lucky they have a classic view cause when it started up I made the dumb dog look like...head to the side ear up Arrooo? at the set up for it, yeah windows 8 was ment to be on tablets. Going to have to get used to this now. But at least I can now play my games at max settings, and second life looks so pretty now. Cause a week ago I did pick up a nice new LED 30 inch wide screen HD monitor, so now that this rig can handle it, things look so pretty for a change! \o/
