show off what cool clothes and accessories you own and like to wear. of course, you don't need to look cool to be proper within the culture. image is to goth what graphics are to video games. it doesn't make the game more fun, just makes it look prettier. anyway, here goes.

i have a $400 leather trench coat. it goes about down to my lower shins and i'm 6.2. it's very warm and looks similar to the one Van helsing wears. i've also got a few pairs of shrine and tripp pants, skeleton hand gloves, a few belts with skulls, a pair of coffin creepers, a pair of combat boots, and a pair of hightops with spikes (all from demonia), i've got a cool maroon renaissance looking shirt, a black color with 4 inch black spikes on it, and a fishnet shirt, i some patches on it that i connected with safety pins.

yeah. we kinda took over steampunk with bands like Abney park and vernian process. As well as the interest in dark victorian themes. Which are prominent within steampunk. Plus a lot of goths like steampunk because they see it as a Victorian version of cyber goth


i think this one is pretty self explanatory. every day is Halloween when you're one of us. All the people seem to stop and stair they say things like "why are you dressed like it's Halloween you look absurd".


Horror themes are also a major part of Goth. so i gotta throw this one in there.

here's an interesting idea that i recently thought of. What if goth existed in the 60's? what would it have been like.

There was a lot of B horror and black and white vampire films out at the time. The munsters and the Adam's family to name a few. horror based themes and imagery has always played a major roll in the subculutre. So i reckon that maybe it would have started out as a cult following based on this stuff. The musical styles would most likely range from Rockabilly, classic rock, and surf.

Then, when the Vietnam war broke out, Use those themes as a metaphor to express the famine and true horror behind it. As opposed to the hippie's "hey man. Lets run away from the problems by getting stoned and running through fields holding hands. And play songs on a guitar about love and happiness." To me, protesting the way i described would be a much more formidable way of protesting the war.

So with the upcoming new twilight release, and everyone's obsession over vampires, i thought i'd offer my 2 cents.

Ya know, I don't really get why so many people are fantasizing about vampires so much. on one side of the spectrum, i feel that the vampire romance thing is really starting to run its course. Secondly, everything that we see now is merely just Hollywood fabrications of what vampires actually are. Fabrications of mythology.

Vampires are in fact, scorned creatures. They are eternally damned, and live in solitary isolation. They are cursed with having to drink blood in order to survive. If you read up on vampire mythos, you'll see they were actually highly miserable creatures. And i would be miserable too. Vampires don't run around in trench coats and do martial arts 10 feet into the air. (even though it's kinda cool), and vampires aren't supposed to live peacefully among humans either. But that's just the way Hollywood works.

what got you into the gothic subculture?

around 2002 and 2003 i got really into 80's new wave and became obsessed with halloween. put 2 and 2 together.
