Hey everyone~ Man, I realized recently that I haven't posted a journal in months and months, not since I went to Fur-Eh in May -- been meaning to do so for a while (if only to get that old journal off my page) but haven't had anything too terribly interesting to say~!

I guess first I just wanted to apologize to any of my friends who's felt we've grown distant in recent months~ Rest assured, there's no animosity between me and anyone! It's just that lately, with my work and all, I often just get off work exhausted and ready to flop, unwilling to commit to doing anything more than absolutely required, especially on afternoon shift -- I literally never get anything done, ahah~! Lots of times when I am on, I'm busy with something or other (been playing a lot of Dark Souls lately, a truly magnificent game. A+, would totally waste hundreds of hours on again) so I don't mean to ignore people -- I've just gotta prioritize the time I have to myself~ That, and I'm pretty bad about bugging people, I'm often concerned about interrupting whatever it is they're doing~ l3 tl;dr Raccoons have amazingly cute faces, you should kiss them (but only if they don't have rabies).

On a more fun note, I'll be mostly occupied for the next two weeks -- I am going on vacation to Disneyland with a family member for the next week, and the week following I'll have a friend visiting, so that'll all be pretty great. I haven't been to Disneyland since 2005, so it'll be cool to see all the changes and stuff -- that, and now that I have a job and income, I'll likely be better able to enjoy some of the more costly features for the first time ever, ahah~! Do I know anyone exceptionally cool who lives in or around the Anaheim area~?

I should be in bed, I should have been there forever ago, but napped earlier in the day and can't sleep now. x3
But it gives me time to post a few things I'd been meaning to do earlier, but was either too busy or lazy and forgot~

First, last-last weekend I went to my first furry convention ever, Fur-Eh in Edmonton, Alberta (closest con to me, I think!), with friends  leorenard and  leokitsune, so it was a totally fox-filled adventure. At first I was very wary of it, because, well, furry cons have a really mixed review from basically everyone -- but I had a blast. It was an excellent time; I had a lot more fun with things that I previously may have thought to have been weird, there were plenty of cool suits to see, everyone was really nice and friendly, the venue was great, and I got to buy a bunch of neat things (and doodles) at the Dealer's Den~ It was very small by furry convention standards, but I had an amazing time -- and even met up with another friend who lives nearby, too! Prior to going, I would never really have given much thought to going to a convention; but after going, I really want to go to many, many more! So this is definitely something I'll be looking into in the coming years... <3

Second, my work schedule has permanently changed, for everyone who has me on their various contact lists; whereas before I would work midnight shift (11:00pm to 7:00am MST), six nights a week (Sunday to Friday), I now work the following schedule: Two weeks of day shift (7:00am to 3:00pm MST), followed by two weeks of afternoon shift (3:00pm to 11:00pm MST), rotating in that pattern indefinitely -- Monday to Friday. So now I get to be a regular human being and actually be around when normal people are -- in addition to always getting two day weekends! So I'm pretty pumped for that. Should improve my life enjoyability dramatically~! <3

Third, I know I haven't been around a lot, on such a note; been a busy guy lately. I have a guest staying with me at the moment, and have been adjusting to my new work schedule, which has been easier said than done; doing two years of midnight shift and then going to day shift is quite a change; by the time I get home from work, it feels like it should be sleepy time! But that should change eventually. l3 Nonetheless, I'll try and be around when I can -- it's a bit overwhelming to be able to actually go out and do things during the day like a normal human. I can go to stores, and restaurants! And visit friends! x3

So yeah, busy raccoon has been busy, but things are pretty exciting and nice, and I will look forward to my future under these new circumstances~ <3

So, just because a number of people have asked me about it, I've been thinking of making a public folder of all of my commissioned/gifted artwork over the years, since there's quite a bit of it, and I don't post it to my gallery here, or anywhere else, for that matter! Probably just make a Dropbox folder (or something else, if anyone else has a better, more reliable idea; I don't) and put a link to it on my profile, or some such thing! To meet this end, I recently went through and renamed every one, retagged 'em, separated WIPs and all that -- it was quite an undertaking, a testament to my questionable life choices. l3~

However, that said, I have quite a number of private pictures, either from particular artists, or featuring particular characters (friends, etc.). Now while I already separated a lot of obvious ones that I'm well aware of, I'd like to just extend an opportunity now for anyone else to let me know if there's anything else that I should leave out. So, if I have commissioned you in the past, or if I have featured you/one of your characters in a picture of mine (by yourself, with myself, with others, as a gift, as a joint commission, etc.) and you would like me to not include it in this folder (whether it was posted to another gallery or not, and for whatever reason, be it the subject matter depicted, or you just not wanting to be seen in public with a filthy raccoon~) please contact me -- either leave a comment here, or send me a note, or email, or something, whatever~! To anyone who plays on my Minecraft server (you know who you are), I had to restart the server again.
There was a new update as you likely see, and new clients weren't compatible with older server versions. I figured I'd just do it right then and there since we'd restarted only a short while earlier, and hadn't accomplished much. This time it's going to stay up~!!

This made me laugh way, way too hard to not share.
I was looking up the Pokémon theme song, and eventually Googled it's singer, since really, everyone knows the first Pokémon theme song but few know about the guy who's voice we all remember so well!! I was just hanging out with for a week, and we were busy doing raccoon and mouse related things and weren't around, except to check FA submissions now and then~! But now I return to the grind, and don't have another week off until late September. :c

Also, prior to this week, a water heater in my house between the two rooms I rented exploded, and the whole place had to be torn apart, walls, floors, stripped bare and restored; so I've been kinda busy with that, but hopefully so have the insurance guys, so when I get back it might be all fixed up and pretty. l3

So I recently moved, as some of you know~! Moving kept me busy the last little while, and so with that over with, I'm happy to finally be able to get back to normal -- though that won't be for a little bit either! I am currently in the Calgary airport as I type this, waiting for my connecting flight to London! ...and then Vienna, to visit  mailylion for a week~! Everyone seems to have their own unique story for their screen name, and some people have such interesting ones that I've sometimes wondered the origin~! So what's the deal with your usernames/screen names/characters names~? Any cool stories, a random choice, a meaningless name~? l3

So a number of things are going on in my life right now, and I feel I should discuss them because this is my journal and this is where you put things like this~! Also it's my second coffee break at work and I have nothing else to do, so this works. l3~

So the first order of business that's of most relevance to anyone here is my permanent change to working straight midnight shift. From here on in, I'll be working 11:00pm to 7:00am MST every week, most likely working Monday through Saturday. (Well, Sunday through Friday technically, but you know. l3) I may have the opportunity in future to change to something else, but that's a long time down the road and there are a lot of reasons outside of my control that will likely keep me here for some time. However, as a result, that means I will be on during the afternoon hours most often, so really I should have more of a chance of hanging out with cool people more regularly~ <3

Second would be that in a couple short days, I'll be heading over to Ottawa for a week to hang out with  ixyao and celebrate Canada Day~! Rest assured, much relaxation will be had -- been busting my ass of this last two weeks, and look forward to both checking out historic monuments, local attractions, amazing restaurants -- and idly dicking around doing nothing all the same. l3



Ummumm~ Recently been playing some more Audiosurf, remembering just how damn much I love that game -- I stopped playing it a lot back when they gimped Pointman Elite, but decided to man the fuck up and get good again if I want to compete~! And in such a vein,  psychoninetales recommended a game called Rhythm Zone (http://www.rhythmzonegame.com/) to me that I recently checked out, and I'm really liking it a lot. <3 It's like Audiosurf styled like Rock Band, where you upload your own songs and it generates a chart of notes, and it even has an Overdrive knock-off. l3 At first I was skeptical, as a lot of the videos made it seem like the notes had little correlation to the song at best, and totally irrelevant at worst -- but essentially, it charts notes based on whatever instrument is most profound at that point in the song. So some work better than others (I found that piano solos come out freaking amazing, by the by~!) I dunno, I've been having a lot of fun with it, some of you might too. <3

So I went out and got myself a shiny new iPad 2!

Me and a couple friends went out to the Chinook Center in Calgary, AB on March 25th to line up for the release of the iPad 2, and I finally got my grabby raccoon paws upon one -- and so far I'm really loving the thing.

Rest assured, I was among the skeptics when the first one was released last year, thinking "Really? That's really their new tablet?" -- but once I got an iPhone, I got used to the ridiculous practicality of having so much versatility in my pocket, and this is just a bigger, nicer, more powerful version. :3 It was definitely quite the financial investment, but a good laptop would run you as much, and this is definitely as practical, if not more for the circumstances under which it will be used. <3

Definitely no replacement for my desktop PC (I love you, Windows 7!), but I now have yet another window to feed my obscene dependance upon furry smut. I typed this whole journal on the thing while on my break, and it's touchscreen's pretty competent at it, by far better than any other portable device I've used -- but certainly no replacement for a proper fat keyboard~! l3

It has been brought to my attention that somehow, someone had access to my email account, and was sending spam to people on my contacts list -- I found this out firsthand when I checked my email and had 50 returned messages to no longer valid addresses. So first off, sorry if you got one, but you're likely smart enough to know the difference. x3 Second, I checked my recent activity at the bottom of the screen, and it looks like it was accessed by someonein Vietnam on a mobile device 8 hours before I checked -- I signed out all other sessions via Gmail, and then in addition to changing my credentials and making things much harder to figure out (on every website I use, I might add) I also turned of IMAP and POP3 for now, so no mobile device can access it (not even my own). whoever was in here didn't seem to do or access anything particularly malicious -- just sent out spammy engrishey emails.

Well now it is 2011, and a whole lot of stuff happened in 2010~ Was quite the year.
I can only hope that 2011 will be equally as interesting and bring as many good changes!
So here's a small list of interesting things that have happened in recent history!

1) Got a new computer!
I didn't intend on buying a new computer 'till i had enough saved up to buy a really amazing one again, but I saw this deal at Costco, and the power-to-cost ratio was insanity, so I couldn't resist it -- and it's pretty mind blowing what can happen in only four years of computer technology upgrades! Came with a huge widescreen monitor too, so my entire computer experience has been made out to be pretty fantastic~ I can play any game on max settings finally, although I admit I still mostly use my computer for internets, messaging, and idle dicking-around. l3 But equally as important, I finally have access to all my old files from my old computer's hard drive, which to me was equally as big a deal~ <3

2)Christmas happened, and Bunnies visited!
Ever since Christmas approached, My time got extensively eaten up by my family, and what little they didn't get, everyone else living with me got, ahah~! But it's all in good fun -- but most specially,  unth came to visit us, and hung around for quite a number of days, where many delicious meals were eaten, awesome games were played (Goldeneye 007 (Wii) Mario Party 2 (bitchezzzz), SimCity 4), and drawings were coaxed into happening~! And I managed to get 7 days off total for the holiday season, a record for me, I think. <3 'Twas the most fun I've had in some time, it's a shame that Unth can visit so infrequently -- but as long as there will be blocks of time and planes available, they'll happen as long into the future as we can manage. <3 With any luck, sooner than two years from now~! :3

3)I dumped Trillian, and got Pidgin~
For the record, yes, I don't like using the traditional standalone clients for my various messengers, because a)I'd rather not run a bunch of programs, and b) they keep changing my primary one, MSN, in heavily undesirable ways. x3 I was using Trillian, but ever since I got the client for Trillian on my phone, all hell broke loose -- messages were getting dropped in computer-chat, and I'd log onto Trillian way later, and suddenly find the missing halves to all my conversations I thought the other person dropped -- so for the record, if you talked to me and I didn't respond, or suddenly stopped talking to you, it was not my fault. Pidgin seems to be a nicer client that is totally problem free. *Crosses fingers!* Don't know how it handles file transfers, though. I know Trillian was balls at it, not sure how Pidgin is~!

4) I have two weeks of time off coming up~!
Next time I'm on afternoons, so from Saturday, Jan 15th, to Sunday, Jan 30th, I'll be off work (none of which is my regular three-weeks of vacation, I might add!) And holy god fuck am I looking forward to it. I haven't been on vacation since I went to see  ixyao in June of last year! I have nothing big planned for this one -- I just had to use the save-up time soon, so I slammed it down then. It falls over my birthday, so it's like a birthday present I suppose! Just lazing around, enjoying life as I had in the last couple weeks, only for two weeks straight! Games shall be played, and hopefully drawings shall be done, too. :3

So yeah, those are the big things that happened to me recently -- looks like my work schedules will be winding down to a bit slower in January and February, to boot, with two day weekends more regular, ahah! Also, Skype Crew, you know who you are -- we gotta get together again soon, it's been like a whole week and that's kinda a lot to me. x3
