So a week ago, Honey and I broke up. We are still friends, and I hope things dont get awkward.

So today I finished up and turned in the last paper I will ever have to write in my college career. All my finals are over, and Graduation is on Saturday.

School has been super stressful, and while I think it will be a relief to be through, I think I am going to miss it (though I know it doesn't mean I can't still take classes for fun!)

Is it weird that after all that, I don't feel a large sense of accomplishment?

Anyways, I will be moving from San Marcos Tx, to Tulsa Oklahoma for summer work, and then its off to Dallas Tx.

The thing that worries me the most is that I wont see many of my friends again... I have a habit of falling out of touch with people I do not see. But I will do my best not too. ^_^

SO...

I decided to destroy the Fursuit head I was working on. I cut the nose right off.

Yup!

Why you ask?...

Because it sucked. It was cute but bad. I liked the nose though, but its too big... so I cut it off.
Now if I pull the head with no muzzle flat... It looks like a space helmet!

*Runs around the room with my arms out in front of me* WOOSH!!!


Anyway, I'm starting a new head with a better base. Its a wire frame wrapped in foam that I can build off. It will fit me much better and I think will produce a much cleaner shape.

Will post pics when I have something worth showing.

Maybe I'll take a few progress pictures to illustrate why I think this will work better. Who knows?

So last night, after a full day at school and rehearsal that night, I went to the drafting room of the theater building and painted with gouache all night. I has so much late work due today. Any way, I fell asleep toward the end of my dramatic theory and analysis class, but am stoked about a prospective job opportunity. Time for bed...er... nap! I have rehearsal in 2 hours.

So... we all know how it goes. Watch a few people... look at submissions as you can... delete them.
But pretty soon, you get busy and they just pile up...

I let mine pile up TO THE EXTREME...

I finally read/deleted all but 20 journals, and have been through over 2000 pictures in the past few days. I only have 3546 more submissions to view before I'm through.

No, I don't read or look at everything, but I just cant force myself to Nuke submissions without at least looking at the thumbnail's.

I have been so busy recently, and I am looking forward to this weekend where all I have to do is have fun... and complete whatever I don't finish. The worst part is I am missing a week of school! And the day after I get home from my 2 conventions... I begin rehearsing a new production. I'm gonna be so behind! I'm just a lil Crazy.

So its only 6AM and Ive already been doing homework for 3 hours. Sometimes I really hate my life. Basically I have to much to do and I'm going to have to turn in a play analysis late for a penalty of 1 letter grade. So if I forget about the analysis for this morning, I can focus on reading another 60 pages for a test today! Thank god I already completed my break downs of Taming of the Shrew or I would be screwed. I've also decided to drop my drawing course. I'm going to finish the semester auditing the course, so I still get to go to class, but the work doesn't necessarily have to be finished. It will lighten my load a little bit, and I need all the help I can get this semester.

On a more sad note.

I'd also like to share that a mentor and friend passed away this weekend. Please send some extra good thoughts into the universe for him and his family.

It is quite simple. I enjoy anthropomorphic art. Make believe is fun. We use our imaginations as children do playing games. I feel it is important because life is often monotonous, and finding something that is tangible and make believe simultaneously is amazing. Being a furry is fun.

I feel religion can be both a good thing for some people and a bad thing for others. I personally consider myself agnostic, meaning we can not be sure of anything. I feel religion is simply a set of morals and guidelines meant for us to use to better ourselves and be good people. Specifics are not as important to me as having beliefs. Believe in anything you wish as long as your beliefs are not forced upon or hurt others.

For the most part I am comfortable discussing being a furry, but I don't flaunt it. If someone seems curious or open I may discuss or explain, but In general I feel its like having an interest in anything else. I guess the only people I feel uncomfortable discussing it with are people who are generally closed minded or people who have no interest in aspects of my personal life such as casual acquaintances of business associates. I wont force a discussion on anyone, but if asked, I'll be open and informative.

an Anthropomorphosized creature. in other words, a character that is animal with human charactreistics, or a character that is human with animal characteristics. Often people who characterize themselves as furries create characters for themselves based on animals they resemble or relate to in some way.

Please describe the furry community as you perceive it.:
The furry community is a social and highly art based community. Most interaction occurs online, however there are several conventions and hundreds of meet ups all around the world. The fandom as a whole is pretty open armed accepting new people into our social circle. Like any community there are various sections or groups people classify themselves into. Some people are artists, some people simply appreciate art, some people wear fursuits, some people role play, some people believe they are animals, and for some its only a fetish. There are a lot of different people in the fandom and it makes us a diverse group.

What is your favorite aspect of the furry community?:
The art. There is alot of bad art out there... a lot. But people are drawing and imagining... and that's a wonderful thing, and every once in a while you find an artist who's work stands above the rest. The community is my second favorite aspect. For the most part people in the fandom are friendly to other people in the fandom. I have met alot of interesting and very fun people on and offline.

How did you feel about yourself before you joined the furry community?:
Fine. I was a normal kid.

Did your feelings change after you joined the furry community?:
no

If so how?:
I'm still normal and well adjusted. I\'m social and professional. Little has changed except my amount of interests and friends... so I guess you could say I\'m happier. I like having something to be interested in. It makes me happy.

Do you feel that being involved in the furry community helps when you encounter stressful life events?:
not really, but possibly

If so in what way?:
The furry community has brought me people who will help support me when I need it. I can take breaks from reality and use my imagination to relieve my stress.

So today my mate and I decided to meet up with some furs from Arlington including  pensive,  donyates,  wanderingferret, along with Pony and Amy whose accounts I haven't figured out. It was a fursuiting event out at the Arlington Highlands shopping center. Honey and I had alot of fun meeting some new furs, and their were defiantly some positive reactions to the suiters... except for one Petsmart manager who told us that we could not hang out outside the store.

This is officially my mates first public furry experience and I think she had alot of fun taking pictures. I'm gonna try and talk her into getting a FA account to post pics from events.

I also wanna say that every time I hang out with fursuiters, I really want to make or get my own suit made so bad! I think I may just have to start a savings fund specifically for one! ^_^

SO over all... Today was a blast! and I look forward to hanging out with those I met today again in the future!

I had alot of fun meeting new furs last night at this pizza party meet up in San Antonio Tx.
I brought paw print sugar cookies I made from scratch.
I Don't remember to many names... I'm horrible with them... but I plan to try attending more of those things.

Pizza, drinks, video games, fursuits, good conversation, music, nerf guns, the skittles drink, internets... whats not to love!

OK, so I need to vent right now. Hardcore!

I just came home to find my room mate had thrown all my wet clothes from the washer on the floor in front of my door so that he could do his own laundry. I"m so pissed!

I am a very good natured person normally, but I feel this is going way too far!

I was about ready to take his still soapy clothes out and dump them on the floor when he came home. We got in a argument, and he feels his actions are completely justified and that I am in the wrong for leaving my laundry in the washer while I go to a meeting. WTF? seriously?

But he needed to wash clothes, my clothes were the obstacle and that was the solution that teaches me a lesson. He couldn't put them in the dryer... because that's "not his job"

Then after his clothes were finished... (the pile of my clothes still on the dirty floor as i explained they would now need to be re washed) he knocks on my door and smugly says that the washer is free and if i'm not going to use it then he is going to do another load.

You know what... I'm through. I've made so many compromises for him and haven't asked him to make any for me and I feel I'm being walked over.

We used to be very good friends, I was like a confidant to him, and helped him work through problems... now he doesn't even respond when I say hello in the halls at school.

I deserve better! I'm a dam good friend, a kind and decent person and while I'm not a perfect room mate, I deserve better as a human being.

so in short F**K my room mate. I'm not gonna play by his rules any more. I have tried so hard to make him happy, I sneek about, I don't watch tv in the living room when he is home, I don't talk on the phone after midnight unless i do it quietly in my room with my door shut. I don't use appliances after midnight because apparently the microwave makes too much noise. I don't invite friends over...

Talk to me about your problems like a rational person! Don't be a jerk!

I can't live like this any more. I cant keep attempting to live my life around him. for the last year and a half I have tried to compromise but its over. and If he has a problem with that... well f**k him. Were not friends anymore. I refuse to acknowledge him anymore, and the next time people ask me for my opinion of him before hiring or casting him (he's an actor), Instead of talking him up like i have for years, I'm gonna tell them what i really think... that he is only a decent actor who is arrogant, stubborn, and rude as well as someone whom i will not work with again.

If anyone reads this... I'm sorry. It may sound like I'm over reacting, but I'm quite serious... if i have a chance... I'm taking him down.

My other room mate an me still get along great!

I realized...Ive been in the fandom for 7 or 8 years, and to date, I do not have a picture that I feel represents my fursona... I see lots of pictures that I think... That's it! but I have never felt like I would have one to call my own...

I've always known I'm a Wolf... I have been obsessed with them for almost all my life... It was never a question. But I realized that defining my character is probably one of the biggest and scariest things I can do... It's saying this is who I am... or this is how I want to be...

I want it to be perfect... maybe too perfect, but I want to see myself when I look in the picture.

Does anyone else else feel this way?

Today I drew a sketch. I haven't been drawing recently, but I did today. I liked It a lot, and I don't think it's me... not exactly, but its a start. I feel it's a huge step to define myself like this, and I can't believe It has taken me this long.

I have scanned my 2"X3" sketch and am currently working on a digital rendering which I hope to have up tonight. I'll put up a WIP shot now.

I wanna say "Heyo! This is how I think of myself today!" I wanna build on my character like I build on myself and improve in real life. And most of all I wanna be proud when people see how I think of myself, because I'm proud to be who I am.

In one week I will be back home with my scanner and my drawing tablet so I can begin digital work, and coloring, as well as upload better images/or digitally inked versions of my favorite previous works. So many things to do! Yay!

That's about it. I am just tired of running out of space, and I like the size I draw. But if I get a larger sketch book, then when I move back to San Marcos in a few weeks and have access to my scanner, then my drawings will be to big... *dramatic pose* oh the indecision! XP Anyway... In about 4 weeks I will also have access to my Wacom drawing tablet, so I may be experimenting with digital work around that time. I am a huge fan of traditional work though. I just need to push myself to pick up my paintbrushes, pens, markers... and experiment more with things like color.

So today I kid you not, I have spent around 7 or 8 hours drawing figure studies before and during work. I have learned a lot... including the fact that bodies are really hard to draw! Ive gotten some decent work though. My paws still need a lot of work! I plan to continue working with different poses and angles. I have realized I just need personal models who will pose for me to draw. Any takers? *devious grin* No seriously I have been trying to figure out muscle and bone structures. There has been lots of drawing based on my recollection of my biology classes. In the end Its was a bunch of headless figures in all sorts of contorted and pin up style poses. All in all I filled 34 pages in my sketch book today. Day well spent!

So I have been doing a lot of sketching recently, and It has made me realize that I miss doing art. I am going to get back into the game!

My goal:

I want to put together a small portfolio in the next 7 month to be ready to sell prints/goggles/masks whatever at Furry Fiesta 2010. I am currently teaching myself to ink my sketches, and am going to begin working with coloring soon. I can not wait till I am back in San Marcos so I can work with my Wacom tablet.

I need to figure out the legalities of how to go about filing taxes with a supplemented income and all that business stuff, as well as set up a pay pal account, so I can sell stuff online, as well as open up for commissions. I'm really nervous about taking commissions, as I have never had anyone tell me what they want before, but I feel it will help me grow as an artist.

I have had a lot of changes in my life recently, and I realize that art is something I need to make time for. I have never taken art classes, and would like to sign up for some perhaps at a community college in a year after I graduate.

This is my plan as I move forward and I hope to gather some support from you all, my friends!

So I recently started working on a new project. I wanted to create a wolf masquerade mask, so I found some leather, shaped it, and am working on painting it. I think It's turning out really cool and am considering making more leather masks, perhaps several designs/animals to sell. I already have a lot of ideas for more advanced wolf masks. I also let a couple of friends design masquerade masks which I helped cut out and shape tonight. Pictures up soon. Check out my WIP shots which are already posted.
