I need help Making a Flash file smaller.
Posted 9 years agoMy original Animation was around 24 MB, more than double the 10MB FA allows for flash files, It was largely frame by frame animation colored in.
Following various optimization instructions online I've managed to shave off a good deal of it, at a great price, I've all but lost my original lines to the optimization tool and I've run out of things I can think of to possibly make it any smaller at 11MB, but did not save a backup original before my meddlings.
I've seen massive, complex animations with music, dozens of separate animations, paths, and buttons, posted here on FA, so there must be something incredibly obvious and powerful they are using to decrease their file size, or bypass the limit altogether.
Steps I've taken so far
-Converted all frame by frame animation into Movie Clips.
-Exported and saved the background as a Jpg. before importing back
-Butchered most of my linework with the shape optimization tool
-Changed the resolution of the flash (which appears to do nothing to file size)
-Grouped all movie clips into one.
My flash file is literally one layer with a single symbol containing all of the components on the first frame, I can't think of any way to possibly make it smaller.
Any help would be appreciated

Happy New Years Ya'll!
Posted 9 years agoIt's been my first official Christmas, and New Years, here at my new home in Galway Ireland, they were both good. Hope you all also had a nice break and new years as well.
Sorry for the inactivity for the past couple weeks, but I'm sure most of you can understand that Christmas and new years in particular can be a bit distracting, normal submission frequency should continue starting this coming Monday.
Thanks again to all my watchers, old and new, for an astounding 700+ watchers over the last few months, it's a bit mind boggling. Happy New Year's everyone!
Have good ideas for more We Bare Bears?
Posted 10 years ago With the comic nearing completion, I'm looking to continue to ride the popularity of my recent We Bare Bears kick, going to milk it for all it's worth D:
I'd like to hear from you all what kinds of drawings you'd like to see of our favorite Bears!
I'll do my best to finish as many as I can, but keep in mind that these are not individual requests, and can not feature you or other FA members characters (though if you do have that in mind, note me and we can discuss it.)
Threesome - Yup
"Bobdage" - Doodle done!
Ice Bear Paw to Daydream of Dom Pan - Doodle done!
Ice X Jess Motorcycle - Yessir
Panda Cosplay + Ice - Super Done
Paint Tool Sai Why?!
Posted 10 years agoJust a minor setback, I wasn't aware that Paint Tool Sai was not a free to use program, and have apparently been using a trial version this entire time. It shouldn't cause any big issues in the long run, but as for tonight, the comic shall be delayed as my trial has expired and I need to get a new version and crack it and whatnot <3
I didn't lose any work, as I can just screen shot the storyboard for tonight's page, and luckily had not started any actual outlines. But it's still a bother, I'm going to be missing a sai file containing the original page 20 sketches : <
Thanks for understanding <3

I'm Bad At Small Talk, Like Really Bad
Posted 10 years agoFor someone who spends most of their time at a computer, I really don't chat to people much, in fact it's almost exclusively to my husband.
This poses a few problems with my communication skills, in particular, my ability to form a response to a single sentence that isn't a question. Reading all your comments has been very uplifting, and occasionally amusing, and yes I take time to read each and every one, as they are all important to me. : )
But I find myself wanting to respond to all of them, and sitting in front of an empty chat box with a blinking cursor with nooooooo clue what to say, and telling myself that it would be insincere to just say "thank you" or "I'm glad you're enjoying it" Because there's so much more to it than that. I can't decide if it's more rude to not say anything at all or to reply like a machine with a generic appreciative comment. D:
I'm sorry if it ever feels like I've ignored you, I really really really do appreciate all of your comments, and look forward to reading more.
I'll get better about forming responses, thanks again ya'll!

Ya'll Are Awesome
Posted 10 years agoWhile I try my best to thank each of you individually, I wanted to re-thank all of my watchers, old and new, that took interest in the recent We Bare Bears comic. The response has been absolutely phenomenal, bringing in over 100 new watchers, averaging nearly 40 favs per page, just for a little side project that I thought would be fun :) .
Thanks so much for your encouragement, it's really a special feeling to be told that people are looking forward to the next page. : )
I apologize for a brief delay in the comic, Had a real fun gathering with friends yesterday and couldn't be home to draw, and while I've gotten a fair bit done on the next page tonight, I'm not sure i can keep up the steam to finish, but the comic should resume normal release pace tomorrow, as we near the inevitable (somewhat naughty) conclusion.
Thanks so much for your patience and support, Ya'll are awesome!

Question for Flash Users and Animators!
Posted 12 years agoSo, I've run into a problem quite frequently with animations. As most of you know, .swf is not an acceptable format for icons here on FA.
My problem is, every time i change my Flashes to a .gif for animated icons, the quality degrades and it becomes ugly and i don't want to use it.
The colors distort, everything becomes oddly pixilated as if i just ran over the image with a strong sharpen tool.
Does anyone know of a good way to maintain .gif quality using flash or photoshop for animated .gif FA icons?

Lots of Views, Holy Heck
Posted 13 years agoI saw a journal listing the top viewed drawings of a person's gallery in the past year, so I was curious what I was pulling.
Thier tops were pulling around 900 views, and I though there was no way in heck anything I've done would pull that.
But Jesus. Both of my flash submissions have pulled 2k Views, those two submissions alone have pulled more views than my total page-view count in 2-3 years.
Just, neat D:

Posted 13 years agoBeen working on the same picture for like 4 days @ @ Granted I only work like 2 hours for every 8 hours I spend with it open (super procrastination go! ((I'm doing it right now)))

But maybe when I submit this people will throw money at me for doing such a good job.

Orcs.
Posted 14 years agoI like them. The "Orc" subtag hasn't existed very long.
With the addition of many new subtags, we can more easily find things that we enjoy, unforrrrtunately, I don't think anyone wants to take the time to reassign catagories for thier drawings, so the orc tabs are sadely very empty D:
If you have an image that you couldn't find a specific tag for and defaulted to "General" you ought to check the the new categories available and reassign them D:
