I know I've been MIA for quite some time now, but I saw this article pop up quite recently, and I feel like exploring my feelings over the matter.

I understand that this could very well be an isolated incident, but it just strikes me that a lot of people associate 'Furry' and 'Phedophile' as one singular entity.

I think what particularly bothers me is the fact that a great volume of furries, undeniably, use the fandom for sexual escapism. It's such a wide subject, however, that it's hard to define it as merely just 'Sexual Role Play' when it can incorperate so many other elements unlike other erotic practices.

Phedophilia is disgusting. It is a disgrace. It's sickening. But why is it important that this person was a furry? The author of the article states that he has no intentional disapproval of the Furry community, as he understands there is an abundance of harmless members of the fandom. However, in his execution of this piece, it's obvious that a lot of emphasis is placed on the fact that this monster was indeed a member of our less-than-perfect internet society.

Why?



What is the reasoning behind 'Furry' being an important factor of this article?


If we look at this article from different perspectives, it's obvious why 'Self-Professed Furry' was necessary for the title- it grabs the attention of the reader. It peaks their curiosity. More obviously, there will be those (rightly) angered by the subject matter of the monster.

However, for a community that already struggles with a poor reputation, it's pretty damning that it is important for the reader that Monster was a furry. Again, this is all down to your definition of 'Furry'.

For example- for some who defines Furry Culture as a hobby, this would be the equivelent of saying ''Self-Professed LARPer'', whereas someone who finds furry as a sexual buzz might find it the same as ''Self-Professed S&M Lover''... and it's possible you could go to a bigger extreme, such as with those who dedicate a lifestyle to being a furry etc. It all depends on your interpretation of our fandom.




I don't think it needs to be said that this person is the lowest sort of life on this planet. I guess my rambling, babbling point is that yes; he is a furry. Sadly, yes- he is a Phedophile. But I think thanks to the media, it's too easy to identify 'Furry' and 'Phedophile' as the same thing, when 'furry' is so hard to define as one definitive culture on it's own. It sort of breaks my heart in a way, because since joining FA I've met so many different, funny and intelligent people, who all have their own ways of picturing the fandom for better or for worse- but to everyone on the outside, everything they know of us are the creepers, the phedos, and the despicable stories weaved by the media.


Sorry for ranting, I know I don't make much sense. That article just sort of got to me. Ack.

On another note, I've been in a bit of a stress recently. Sorry for the lack of art. I've been going through some complicated stuff on the inside of my brain damnit. So yeah. I spent my entire holiday season in hospital. I won't get into that too much, since it's almost over now, but it does mean that I've left my drawing hand to get reeeeally rusty.

The point of this journal being to ask some of you to help?

I know it's sort of out of fashion these days since Live Streaming became the popular thing to do, but would anyone like to join me on OpenCanvas? I love having that bit of company to draw along with, or even just chat too. :]

So yeah, sorry about the lack of any new art. It's just been down too work, illness and general laziness. I'm hoping with the Christmas period dying down that I might have some fresh ideas, and more time to work on commisions for those on the waiting list. :]

... 13th of every month, I think. Just to get into a good pattern of showing off art. :3 That goes for my blog as well, but the blog'll most likely be older stuff, or dirtier stuff.

I've just moved into a new place, just me and Ennick, so things have been a bit... haywire at the moment. It's fantastic to be living with him in this great place, even though we haven't built half the furniture yet!

Anyways, this is just to give you a tiny bit of notice, since I still wanna trade with one of the people who contacted me, but it's gonna be at least a week or so before I'm in a comfortable place to draw. A Small Break
I don't know what it is exactly, but something inside of me, be it my Muse or just complete insanity breaking through to the surface, but I find myself every second of the day thinking about drawing, art or expressing myself in some creative manner. At first I thought my brain was just overfed with inspiration from some of the terrific artists I see around, but it's getting so hefty it's starting to become literally painful... So in order to try and calm down this excessive creative vibe, I'm going to be trying to pace myself a little more, and learn to focus on other things besides art. It won't be for long, I imagine, but just to give you all a bit of notice so you don't worry about me, hehe!

Expanding Genres
I'm pretty tolerate of most things, being very quirky both in RL and as an online Persona- but recently I can't help noticing a lot of things for me art-wise that are too similar, and don't include some things that I and other people enjoy. I'm planning in future to fix that, so expect to see a lot of different art filling my gallery in future.

I just wanted to say I'm really thankful for each and every on my watchers, you guys are awesome for posting comments and saying hi and making me feel good about my art! Plus it's reassuring to know there are others who enjoy the same perverted stuff as I. 8D

Anyways, I just wanted to give you people a heads up that a very good friend of mine,  Mossushi, will be opening commisions sometime in the future.
