So after returning from Japan in July, I basically had a giant time of substitute teaching(sometimes) and worrying about grad school.

In the fall, the schools I applied to seemed promising, and I hoped my experience in Japan along with second languages in general would help me out, but nope! Learned in February/March that all the schools I had applied to were getting their funding cut because of course it's Trump. So, though I am heading to my graduate program in the fall, it wasn't my first option amongst the many I applied to, and it's unfortunate that it had to end up like that.

Anyhoo, I got a new laptop for that new chapter in my life and am looking forward to new surroundings, as well as getting more comms at some point because someone(me) didn't get much money as a sub.

I also have tentatively reached out in my local community for fur-related stuff, and being 28 definitely puts me in the "old" category in that regard. I think it will be fun to talk to those furries in my area despite being about to move again. Hopefully this dragon can get used to the heat down south.

Oof it’s been a while since I’ve updated here, but I assure you I’m still alive and kicking.

In about a month and a half I’ll be leaving Japan, my home for 5 years now, returning regrettably to the US because my contract can only be extended up to 5 years. I love Japan, and I’ve accomplished my childhood dreams of visiting here, and even got to live here and visit all 47 prefectures. It was a fantastic experience and I can’t wait to share about it.

Though I am now once again single(me and Matt parted amicably, and we’re still friends), the prospects of single life isn’t daunting to me anymore. I feel comfortable being sexually open and active without the emotional ties that a bf would likely entail, and if a bf does come along, I can still be happy regardless.

I plan on writing a memoir of my time in Japan, as well as continue my teaching interests by looking to get certified as a French teacher in my home state, which I can hopefully do without moving to a tiny town in the middle of nowhere. I also want to go to graduate school for French, but where is the question.

Oof it's been a while since I've made anything here, but here's my update on life.

Things are good, school is good, classes good, but the yen is collapsinggggg. What used to be 108ish yen to the dollar it's not past 120 something and that's horrific for trying to pay for things both here(things increasing in price) and for comms I've been wanting to try to get. I already spent way too much on a package home and my electric bill increased for no reason so ya know, inflation fun.

Also in Shanghai after that Bulgarian girl gave me and a friend some real shitty vodka at a bar and I had to drag my vomiting friend back to our hotel room while I spent the night cradling the toilet and my Malaysian roommate watched over me in concern.
