Commissions are open again!

Closing up shop for a while and some new plans.
General | Posted 8 months agoHey folks. Been awhile since I've done a journal.
Over the last several months, I've been strimming through commissions with little chance of getting personal projects done inbetween. Which is why I've decided to take an indefinite break on commissions, at least until I can get some of the backlog done.
When I'm able to return to do commissions, there will be a few changes. No price increase, but a sort of restriction in the progress, and maybe cheaper options.
I'll still update here when I get stuff done, and if all stays smooth it won't take me that long to get some of this backlog stuff done. And if I have extra time between now and May, I might even get to sketch some other stuff that took my fancy.
That's it from me. Enjoy Spring!

Public Rough to Render poll
General | Posted a year agoThis is the first in what I hope to be a new trend in Public Rough to Render projects. Since practically all of my recent polls have been Patron exclusive (as options were suggested by the Patrons) I decided to make an extra poll for public voting.
As a Sneak peek. your options are
Trogdor (Homestar Runner)
Walking Wake (Pokemon)
Satin Fulham (Original)
Ryoko (Tenchi Muyo)

New Year, New Prices!
General | Posted 2 years agoHappy New Year, Everyone! Here's to 2024 being a good year for everyone!
A few announcements regarding commissions, I have increased my prices for all my tiers (not by too much) and will better incorporate a character discount from a pool of select characters, rotated bi-monthly. Half bodies will no longer be allowed in regular commissions. Instead I will occasionally open Bust commissions at half price as a sale.
I've also updated my Patreon to include a new tier, in which you could get a bust sketch each month you're subscribed.
That's all for now. Hopefully keep you all posted more often.
Oh and before I forget, the second issue on Alvah IS being worked on, it's just currently on low priority.
That's all for now, folks!

Character Discounts
General | Posted 2 years agoInspired by another artist, rather than have discounts for series and/or franchises, I decided to change it to a rotation of characters. have any questions, feel free to DM me.

In Grievance and Gradual
General | Posted 2 years agoThis month and the one before has admittedly been a sluggish production on my end. I want to explain what has been going on outside during that time.
On the 1st of April, my grandfather passed away. The entire family has been occupied, including myself; Not only were we grieving the loss of a wonderful man, we had to run around everywhere to get the necessities done before it was time to say our farewells. Being the second funeral I have ever attended to did not made the experience anymore easier to go through.
I'll miss him dearly, and I know it won't be easy in the passing future. The best I can do is keep going and hope things don't get worse any sooner. In any case, I do plan to keep working, though progress may be significantly slower this summer. I want to thank everyone following for their patience.
Keep calm and carry on!

Change to Patron Exclusive Commissions
General | Posted 3 years agoUp until now I've been shuffling between two ques for my art work. Commissions and Patron rewards; at the start of every month I've put regular commissions aside so I can get through Patreon prompts as well, and that's not mentioning the numerous occasions where a patron gets both a monthly sketch and a commission slot.
With that in mind; I'm panning to change the playing field to benefit both parties.
Instead of getting a free sketch based on tier all patrons at one tier will be guaranteed a slot in a patron-exclusive commission list separate from the public commission list. Tier price will be the starting slot.
Commissioner - £7.50 - A slot on a Patreon exclusive Commission list (Starting with a guaranteed half body sketch)
Naturally, if you wish, you can upgrade you sketch to any tier commission you wish all you need to do is pay the difference (this includes the 20% discount)
This way I can switch between regular and Patron commission more fluidly.
Additionally, the Rough to Render suggestions have not been as well received as initially planned. Before, I would have to reach to the top paying patrons to ask what they wanted to see, but this proved to be a bit of a goose chase and also subjective. Instead, most of the Rough to Render poll would be made entirely by myself, with the discord channel being alerted for when I'm starting to build it up. That way, less time is wasted on building the poll up.

Commission price bump and New Tier
General | Posted 3 years agoWith the new year slowly creeping up, I realised it was time for me to bump up my commission prices to match the supply and demand of the modern world. In the times coming up to '23, I'm also closing future reservations for commission until I announce the new prices. Patron rewards and recently reserved comms will still be worked on , but I will not be taking anymore reservations for this month.
In addition, I've also added a new tier, the biggest one, solely for those who wish to have a bigger detailed sketch every month. Hopefully this new tier will be convenient for both me and my patrons.
That's it for now. I've got to get back working on the last few commissions of the year.

New Patron perk coming up!
General | Posted 3 years agopatreon.com/GregtheLion
I've discussed it with my Patrons over on Discord, and I decided to implement a new Patron perk (in place of an existing one) this coming month. But first, a bit of a backstory.
Last year, I implemented an upfront charge to my commission rates, to prevent people ghosting me once they got the roughest of rough sketches (No joke, the last time this happened, it was two different people at the same time). Not so much an impromptu price rise, it was more an assurance the commissioner was actually willing to pay for the full piece.
Nowadays, I realise the patrons are more than trusting with payment, so for them, I've decided to dismiss the upfront charge for their commissions as of November. This will be included to all the tiers, including the lesser ones.

Sketch Prompt form - Tenchi and Ryoko

July's lineup: Can't take the heat, stay out of th
General | Posted 3 years agoAt some point this month, I decided to re-open coloured sketch commissions. For a while, it seemed like a really good idea, as a lot of people were interested in getting one. Unfortunately, I couldn't have predicted how much blockage would've occurred throughout the following weeks.
It seems like a cosmic coincidence we had a long heatwave around the same time the kitchen was being rebuilt. I know the joke is that Americans can tolerate high temperatures more than the British, but I especially hate it; the heat leaving me sticky and horrible, the sun blaring down at me, and even at night it becomes near unbearable to sleep. So between being the spare pair of hands for the kitchen and being flash banged by the sun, I've been held back to get these commissions done. So I apologise to anyone who wanted pic from me; at the moment I'm trying really hard to play catch up.
These lineups are starting to look more like soap boxes

June's lineup: A moment of silence
General | Posted 3 years agoAfter careful consideration, for myself and my patrons, I have decided to retire the monthly sketch suggestions. Truth be told, it was hard enough for everyone involved to keep up with one poll, much less two. Plus, at the worst of times, it'd be near impossible to come up with relevant options, and even then they don't match the trends.
In placement of the monthly sketch themes, I would like to announce that I will be starting character drawthreads regularly and on most, if not all, my platforms. This will hopefully give me more flexibility and control over what I sketch in the future.

May's lineup: Summer woes and woah's
General | Posted 3 years agoYou ever feel you need to be more productive, but everything seems to be holding you back or keeping you away from progress, even yourself? That's how I've been feeling throughout the month. I don't blame anyone particular for it, just to make clear. It might be I need a break from being on the computer all the time. On June, I'm undoubtedly going to take bigger breaks away from the computer, and stabilise my sleep schedule while I'm at it. Hopefully when I come back, I'll have a clearer mindset.
Additionally, I've decided to show my sketches to public earlier, since they're only sketches and it would be unfortunate to have to show them all at the beginning of the month and barely have anything for the rest of the month.
That's it for now, hopefully the rest of summer will be a bit more uplifting. Catch ya later!

April's Lineup: Blossoms-a-blooming
General | Posted 3 years agoHope you all recovered from your chocolate egg induced sugar high. For me, the month has been pretty straight forward;
I've managed to catch up on my work and I've got some fresh ideas in the event I find myself staring at a blank screen. I've also made some plans in an attempt to boost my productivity, involving livestreaming. If I can stream more frequently, I can put more hours in my work day.
For The monthly Sketch theme polls, I toyed with the Idea of making it a Strawpoll this month, but then I figured if I can get people to engage in my Patreon more, the better.
That's really all I have to share for now. Here's to a bright May

March's Lineup: The Fool's gone
General | Posted 3 years agoYeah, sorry about that. Thought I try and do a fun little April fool gag, didn't quite work so well. maybe I ought to be productive for April 1st, like Homestar Runner.
Since I've not been able to finish The Rough to Render for March, I'll be working on that before I do another poll. Additionally, I plan to make the monthly sketch suggestion poll on Strawpoll next time, so people who don't have a Patreon account have a chance to vote.
Speaking of Patreon, you may notice I've added new tiers with similar names to the old ones. The idea is to unpublish the old ones once the Patrons have migrated their tiers so I can freely work on rewards on the new tiers the month after.
That's it for now. See you all in the merry month of May.

February's lineup: Been Rome-ing, not Russian
General | Posted 4 years agoSo it would be important to bring up recent events involving a specific country and a certain nutjob who thinks it belongs to him. Just know I am against the decisions of this nutjob and wish those in or from Ukraine are safe and away from the trouble.
With that out of the way, I realised I've not been able to do as much work as I could, but only because I went on holiday with family. and Guess what? that's happening this month too. I think with Lockdowns being eased off, the family is keen to go back to being more active and getting out more, not that I blame them; lately, the weather in the UK as been lousy to say the least.
Aside form commissions and other stuff I owe. I'm also working n designing some new characters. Not sure if they'll play a part in the current comic project of mine, but considering the context I highly doubt it.
To finish off, I've decided to start doing these Lineup posts nearer the end of the month. Gives me a chance to look back and even catch up on what needed addressing. Here's to March!

Janurary's Lineup: Back on the Grind
General | Posted 4 years agoHappy belated New Year, Everyone! With the festivities behind me and everything pack up for another 300+ days, it's time to get back down and continue work as normal.
With the new commission prices set up I expected a relatively small queue with the opportunity to work on Patreon projects and some personal stuff as well. To be honest, I never expected to be nearly as busy as I am now, not that I'm complaining.
However, I did sort of predict this and prepared a schedule of sorts. From now on, commissions are on hold on weekends so I can work on the Rough to Render, Patron sketches and anything else I've put on the backlog.
Well, here's hoping 2022 is much nicer to me and everyone else than '21 was!
(though, I have my doubts)

December's Lineup: Nevermind Christmas, when's New Years?
General | Posted 4 years agoI'm temporarily closing monthly sketch themes to catch up on commissions and various Patreon projects (Including patron requested sketches) as well as take time to do personal sketches. Additionally the reason I decided on this is because there's going to be a lot going on this month, even for a typical December holiday.
Not only do I plan to change the monthly sketch motif a little bit by next year, I'm also going to rearrange my commission prices to take the upfront charge into account, because at the moment it's looking a bit messy. Depending on your outlook, this may look like I'm making the commissions that tad bit more pricy, but I'm hoping this streamlines the process much better.
And with that, I wish you all a Happy [Appropriate Winter Holiday] and a Better New Year.

November's Lineup; or is it October's?
General | Posted 4 years agoThroughout October I figured I'd look back at my tangible collection and do a spot of clean up of one and a build up of another. At the moment I currently have a HUGE Game Boy Advance Collection; just today I tried going through and see how much they were, could barely reach half through and accumulated over £500 via Ebay pricing. At this rate, the entore collection is looking to reach the Thousand mark. At the same time, I've been going back to Pokemon card collecting, mainly finishing up this set I've had for a few years. After that I can turn to a more ambitious collection of cards.
In any case, I'll still be doing as much work as I can, starting with some comms for a patron and sketches for other patrons.
Hopefully Black Firday and the Spirit of Christmas yet to come will be kind to me for the remaining months of the year. Peace!
