ATTENTION MUSIC LOVERS! Submit me your favorite lyrics and I
Posted 18 years ago-will turn em into comics!
That's right you heard me.
Just like with the two Tom Wait's pieces I have up, I will take some of your favorite song's lyrics and translate them into a comic! Whatever that narrative takes, what medium I'll use, you'll nor I'll never know til the end result! Will it become a full length backstory, or some surreal montage? Do you want to see characters of yours or mine appear in roles, or want to see your favorite characters from a book a tv show you like appear as a short songfic? Request it of me, and I'll do what ya please!
This is NOT a contest, and nearly all ideas are acceptable, and there are no deadlines, even after this journal is gone, I'll still be open for these, so jump on the bandwagon while I'm still available and it's still FREE. I plan to have a collection of these to put into an anthology of sorts, as I attend a comic book club and they intend to physically produce a published work by the end of the next year so that means your art piece might even get PUBLISHED along with all other song comics together. Anyone can get their individual piece mailed to them.
All songs of any genre are acceptable, I won't likely do a whole song's breadth if it is too long but you can choose what lyrics you want specifically to be used if you wish, or I'll just squeeze in as much as possible.
SO GET COMMENTING MUSIC LOVERS!

US practicing systematic rape, torture, sadism against women

The General Secretary of the Union of Political Prisoners and Detainees in Iraq, Muhammad Adham al-Hamd declared that the US occupation administration in Iraq relies on systematic rape, torture, and sadistic treatment of Iraqi women prisoners in its prison camps in the country. Al-Hamd said that the enormous crimes being committed against women in the prison camps in occupied Iraq have the support and blessings of the US military, for whom the practices serve as a means to bring psychological pressure on men engaged in the Resistance, in an attempt to break their spirit and fighting will.
Muhammad Adham al-Hamd made the comments in a statement regarding reports that confirmed the presence of large numbers of women in the American-run prison camps – women who are detained solely to be raped and abused in order to bring pressure upon their husbands, brothers, sons or fathers.
Al-Hamd declared that the women prisoners are subjected to strip searchs, torture, rape, and psychological and physical humiliation by the police and prison administrators. Their clothing is removed and they are deprived of food and water for days in order to break their will.
Al-Hamd said that teams from the International Red Cross and groups operating under the umbrella of the United Nations have been prevented from visiting the detention centers and learning about what goes on there. Rarely do these organizations demand to visit prisons and detention centers because of the lack of security and the fact that the sectarian militias control the facilities.
International bodies and reports of the puppet "Human Rights Ministry" under the US-installed regime warn of an enormous human disaster that is likely to happen as the currently circulating epidemics of cholera and AIDS spread within many of the prison camps.
But the American practices of imprisoning and savagely treating women is, in fact, backfiring, al-Hamd said, pointing to a study done in central and western Iraq that showed that the arrest of just one Iraqi woman would drive 1,000 men to take up arms and attack US troops and their puppet regime allies in defense of the woman’s honor and dignity.

We need your moneys.
Posted 18 years agoAnd I do it all for free-
Your tears are all the pay I'll ever need.
So, I'm going to go as Salieri along with Candyjack aka ~Cannibalclinik as Motzart. If you haven't watched the film Amadeus do so right now, or upon your wretched soul's a blight will be cast so that...yeah whatever, you'll be sad as an individual if you don't.
I have a raging headache, a ton of large art projects to procrastinate on, several packages to mail out, and no current commissions, and now a brand new temporary-sort-of-unemployment.
I desperatly needs the monies for the monthly train tickets, random acts of charity I do, voice acting classes, art stuffs, and beverages, but chiefly for keeping the parents not wanting to devour me in the Darwinian process known as survival. Last time I tried to be a street hussy but something obscene and terrible happened and my license got revoked. *drumbeat* Yeah.
So folks, I'm seriously up for grabs. I am whoring myself out to you. (No pun intended.) Be it a comic, portrait or watevuh, I needs your cas- I mean deep sympathy and love through this time of dire-ness. I will stoop so low as to dress like a party clown for your little cousin Mark's 6th birthday and actually getting a Paypal account.
*NOTE- If you have free money (ha) to throw around, don't really waste it on me if you know of some better place to give it to. I know it's hard for you guys too. There are lots of problems still going on now after Katrina, and many other causes as well that you can go for. I'd reccomend trick or treating for UNICEF if you can, and hunting down the bastards who steal that money they get for it, by egging them down and then feasting on their eyeballs.
Anywho, so tells me what's become of Halloween this year? Why are people not so lavishly decorating their houses lately as I recall they used to and kids becoming more unethusiastic, or is that just me? I love Halloween, it's better than Christmas for me. (Not on the account I am Jewish really, as we celebrate the stuff anyways) but just the overall atmosphere. Not much planning, no cooking, no rushing, no freaking about gifts and relatives and traffic, no cleaning the house, just relaxed fun and pranks and parties, and noone gets down on you bout the spirit you're in, or how religious you are. It's commercial but meant to BE commercial, and technically is a holiday that is celebrated by everyone, even though culturally it is an American thing, in every religion there's a point of transition, a holiday that looks on the changing of the seasons, preparing for the winter, the reaping of a harvest, and reflection of Death and maturing of one's self. It is Pagan first and foremost, but has Catholic influences and has predecessor's from all over early Europe, the early colonists, and similar holidays in native cultures, Mexico and South America. I wish people didn't say that "Halloween is the devil" merely cos it emulates the scary and the unknown, or cos it isn't a holiday that worships Jesus. The Fourth of July and Mother's Day don't emulate Jesus, but reflect on things that are important to us as a country and now are equally as commercial if not more so since they are merchandising out concepts that are much more personal.
Religiousness is part of that if it ties you together as a community and family, but one should be able to do that regardless of how religious they are I think.
I think a holiday is more important to use as a time to hang with friends, look back on yourself and the world, and just take a time out to relax. Halloween is one of the few holidays that we really can relax on anymore. Everything else (espicially Christmas) has become such a stress-fest, and a need to proove how much better we are at celebrating than our neighbors to the point we forget it is a holiday break.
Soon as Halloween is over, the two most gluttonous holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas, will be shoved up our faces so fast it'll make your heads spin...so live it up folks. Enjoy this dark and pleasant season. Sure school is still in session. But you don't get to show off without it.

Propaganda flows from the administration's favourite warmong

Following yesterday's revelation that Dick Cheney has ordered top Neo-Con media outlets to unleash a PR blitz to sell a war with Iran, Fox News has already responded with two prime time slots devoted to all out warmongering propaganda in favour of a strike on Iran's facilities.
The New Yorker magazine reported yesterday that Barnett Rubin, the highly respected Afghanistan expert at New York University, had a conversation with a member of a top neoconservative institution in Washington, who told him that "instructions" had been passed on from the Office of the Vice-President to roll out a campaign for war with Iran in the week after Labor Day.
"It will be coordinated with the American Enterprise Institute, the Wall Street Journal, the Weekly Standard, Commentary, Fox, and the usual suspects, writes Rubin, "It will be heavy sustained assault on the airwaves, designed to knock public sentiment into a position from which a war can be maintained. Evidently they don’t think they’ll ever get majority support for this—they want something like 35-40 percent support, which in their book is “plenty.”
The onslaught has already begun on Fox News with both the FOX & Friends and Hannity & Colmes shows devoting extensive segments to discussions on attacking Iran.
The former show featured arch Neocon, Weekly Standard Editor and PNAC Chairman Bill Kristol who gave not one but two reasons for bombing Iran. Kristol stated that the US will have to take action either to eliminate the Iranian nuclear program or in order to quell alleged support of Iraqi insurgents by Iranian forces.
"We may have to do more to stop Iran, at least with respect to Iraq, leave aside the nuclear program." Kristol stated.
He neglected to mention the fact that Iranian support of Iraqi insurgents has not been verified by any intelligence and has been flatly refuted by the Iranian government. In addition it is so called "Al Qaeda affiliated insurgent groups" that the U.S. government is openly funding and supporting in order to carry out bombings in Iran and destabilize Ahmadinejad's power base.
The Iranian government is also diplomatically allied to the current Iraqi government, where as the Neocon White House has recently been implicated in the actual overthrow and replacement of the Iraqi administration.
Later the same evening Hannity and Colmes featured Michael Ledeen whom Hannity announced as one of his favourite authors, calling his newest book on how Iran needs to be attacked "terrific".
Ledeen spouted that “It could be almost any day now where we have two terrible choices to make, do we accept the existence of a nuclear Iran, with all that implies or do we attack them militarily, which is also a terrible choice."
Hannity then suggested that there is a modicum of gender inequality in Iran, as if that provides reasoning for attacking the country with military force, and stated that he "views them as the rise of Nazi-ism in our time".
An organized mass media campaign to propagandize for a military strike on Iran mirrors exactly what happened in late 2002 in preparation for the invasion of Iraq and would be seen as par for the course in anticipation of an attack that presidential candidate Ron Paul amongst other expert observers fear will take place within 12 months.
All indications are that an attack is imminent. The London Times reported on Sunday that the Pentagon had finalized plans for a 3 day blitz designed to annihilate 1,200 targets in Iran and destroy the country's military capability. in addition President Bush has warned of the risk of a "nuclear holocaust" if the Iran is allowed to acquire nuclear capability, French President Nicolas Sarkozy has intimated that an attack is on the cards, The White House has declared the Iranian army a terrorist group, and the U.S. has stationed three aircraft carriers in the Persian Gulf.

Posted 18 years agowhy do we really need Internet etiquette abusers?
Now listen folks, I'm not here to flame specific people or name the names of anyone here or anywhere and if you DO know who i am talking about, then it does not matter to me as I do not wish to nor have any involvement in such matters...and this is not a singular case that I have witnessed towards one person I know alone nor is it solely on FA or DA, and that really depresses me.
Look. It's a difficult world to get along in, and we have the divine gift of Network to exchange art, ideas, and friendships like never before. Using it to merely down others, espicially total strangers who've nothing personal in common with you in reality on the account that their artwork style/themes are similar to yours, and on the assumption that they have stolen it is utterly crude, and a waste of everyone's time and self esteem.
First off, although it is understandable to be angry or hurt when ppl steal your ideas or if you consider someone else's ideas by coincidence too similar to your own, but understand it doesn't MATTER if they DID steal it, which isn't the likelihood anyways. They can NOT DO ANYTHING with your work, and will never ever ever gain money from your ideas, and noone will care or know if you later on put out the same material into the world. The one thing they'd maybe gain you aren't is a short burst of a cool rep on FA forums. Wow. And if they do get it out its likely gonna be altered inevitably anyways beyond their own desires, because material that actually DOES get out there in the commercial media world is determined not by you but the clients and what is the market. Your 'thief' will also more than likely have changed it right before it gets out there on the realization that they have not created anything original or gained any sort of artistic talent by following your glorious style to the name, and will be scared of you or bored with your idea. trust me this is true. People who go genuinely proffesional as artists do but rarely on occaision fully steal, and you are not prevented from coming into the world by their laziness.
Most accusations of stealing are based on similar (usually common and easy to think up on your own) character traits that are just pure coincidence that folks just don't want to accept are so universally easy to apply to characters. People just want to beleive they are outside of the rest of humanity, and every visual idea that pops into their brain has no prior influence or must strive to be the only one who WAS originally inspired by a specific thing: eg; Gorillaz, Tim Burton, The Beatles, a favorite cartoonist or celebrity etc. Newsflash: If it is a popular influence, it is going to be a popular thing among artists to draw. You cannot possibly accomplish subject divinity and make everybody online stay away from your idea, not until the government gives everybody lobotomies, manages to breed all of humanity in seperate labcages cut off from everything that makes us human, or you somehow evolve into another species and the rest of us don't. Artists mimiced popular themes since they learnt how to use a stick and mud on cave walls.
I am not saying there hasn't been outrageous copyright infringements and stolen things before and it is wise to always protect your work beforehand, and watermark. People COMPLETELY ripping off your ENTIRE idea(s), as in to the letter stealing uniquely created species names as well as appearences, history, styles, and character titles, all in one kit and kaboodle, when it is a wholly OBVIOUS copying of all your material, then it is obviously really unacceptable- (you should still try to be the bigger person and try to be courteous and not stalk people or flame their friends who've no interest or awareness of the situation.) But this is rare, and most of the harassment cases I have been complained to about by my mates there has only been some if no significant similar traits involved. Pettiness over character trait territories is usually the deal. Eg; 'my cat-goth has red eyes and likes to chew gum a lot, she's real spunky and has bad attitude. You have someone just like that! Sure she has darker eyes, and maybe she likes to dress up like a waitress sometimes and has an entirely different personal history and name and peers...BUT YOU'RE STILL COPYING ME COS ITS A CAT-GOTH WITH A SIMILAR LINE QUALITY AND ONcE YOU DREW A PICTURE OF HER CHEWING BUBBLEGUM! GRRR!!!! DIE BYACTH YOU SUXORS IM TELLN ALL MY FRIENDS U SUK AND THEYRE GONNA BLOK U LOL!!!'
What really irks me is that these attacks are almost 7 in 10 NOT given by the rivaling artist, but their overly obsessed fans and hometown pals without their idol even knowing or caring. The artist may get upset, and even complain or attack, but afterwards usually apologizes or just shrugs and says 'screw them I can do better anyways' and gets on with their magical life. But their fans go literally OUT OF THEIR WAY and usually without even the artist's awareness of it, to put down their so called 'enemies'. They taunt and flame on shoutboards, they clog up your inbox, some even go to great lengths to stalk bunches of artists and all those who associate with them like some kind of evil Internet Gestapo, all for the fun of putting them in their place, without any previous social case with their nemisis. Some even have the balls to turn around and say "hey its cool now I am sorry be my friend? :D' and then go forth and spew rumors and lies and slander behind backs. These acts are nothing short of stupid immaturity and whether or not they feel this 'copycat' and all his/her peers deserves such foul treaments, is irrelevant. They should do better things with their time.
Instead of looking for stranger artists to flame, they could hone up their own art skills. Seek alternate inspirations. If it isn't YOUR OWN work that is being 'ripped', then you don't have the right to even give a crap and say anything. Tell the artist you feel worried for their originality and then leave it up to THEM to take action. Nobody I'll bet asked you and your pals to go forth like a Children's Crusade and kick some innocent person in the rear. And if they did, they are megalomaniac bullies who'd run a mafia better than a gallery, and YOU are a T-O-O-L. Let them do it for themselves if they are so angry.
And if you give SO much of a damn about being the ONLY artist who REALLY knows how to move it like a Burton, Seuss, Gorillaz, etc- do more research on such themes beyond just the general 'look'. GIVE a crap about the REAL original artist behind 'your look', who they were as people and what they stood for in their time and what they did OUTSIDE of their mainstream known styles/themes. Then you can actually label yourself at least somewhat of a true expert, and not just be another whiney fan who draws close-but-not-quite crap of someone ELSE'S work they think looks cool but don't really know about. Before you screech about how others stole YOUR look without their knowing, maybe you ought to look in the mirror first, or at least do some homework.
Look. Imitation (if it IS deliberate) is almost indefinitly out of flattery and not insult and EVERY artist whether intentionally, or unintentionally has in SOME way shape or form copied or done something similar to past creators because they were inspired. If this were not true, we wouldn't have what are called 'isms' or any kind of so called era in man's history and all our aesthetics and philosophies would be scattered and nobody could relate to anything. Sometimes its even just a collective subconcious thing, and mere coincidence and exposure to all sorts of subtly similar artworks in media and online influences fans to create their own spin on the look. So essentially what I am saying here is, NOTHING is unique no matter how hard you try to be so and everybody's an individual no matter how hard you'll try to conform to be like somebody else. Deal with it.

Attention Sonic Stage users-
Posted 18 years agoAnyone here with that program and/or a SONY Walkman device, please help.
I have to send a song I have already imported into my library to a friend and the song is currently on my device. However when I try to send her the song her computer crashes, or she cannot play it. I don't know why this is so, or if it is due to she not having Sonic stage or the file type or copyrights or what.
I have tried saving it to desktop, emailing it, IMing it, and cannot seem to open the file through WMP. So I don't know what to do by this point. My best bet is to just make a new cd with the song on it but I don't know when I'll get to see her again or get the chance to post mail it. So anything you folks could suggest would help. Thanks a bundle.

My eyeballs itch.

Free Commisions/Trades!
Posted 18 years agoOkay so now you've all got a taste of my style, here is what already seems obvious:
I'M DOING FREE CHARACTER COMMISIONS.
I know my gallery doesn't display much character art, but I can and will do it, and in any most any medium for absolutly free, for the purpose of practise, pre-occupying myself, and portfolio expansion.
I won't just do anthro stuff either, and I'll do any environment designs or whatever logos, ideas, dreams you had at night, whatever!
I just request a few rules here that I'd appriciate you'd respect when requesting from me:
1. I do R ratings. Not NC 17.
In a nutshell, this means tasteful burlesque-ness, is good. Porn ain't. I'm pretty liberal when it comes to ideas, and I'll do alternative stuff, pinups, and 'barbie' or Venus ala Botticelli (do a Google search if you dunno what I mean) kind of figures, but no hedges, hotdogs, gaping brown abyss holes, tooting of the horn, examining of wounds, playing of trumpets, and anything else of similar nature will be displayed...you get the idea.
This is due to both personal distaste and inability.
Violence, I'll draw to a degree. May depend on case.
2. I WILL TAKE MY SWEET SWEET TIME!
Not that I won't try to do it asap, and time will vary with however complex you want the project to be- plus IT IS FREE-but keep in mind I have a job and a life too like most of you. Soon as it is completed, it will be sent!
DO NOT FLAME/HOCK ME!
3. I will edit it a thousand times over if you are dissatisfied with the result, and really want a redux- BUT DO NOT FLAME/HOCK ME!
4. Did I mention-
DO NOT FLAME/HOCK ME?
5. I have a sense of humor but I will not be directly offensive to a particular individual nor target a group of people without any satirical or ironic meaning involved.
What this means folks is while I don't like most polictically correct stuff, I do not like making enemies either. So while I think setting the Pope or Bush on fire is as funny as the next guy, some people won't care for that sort of thing at all. I will try to be fair in terms of jokes, but I will not use a commision to directly slander anyone, unless it is so outrageously silly, it really can't even speak for it's own argument. I will not use your or my characters to outwardly slander a certain group, your ex-boyfriends, the creeps at school, or slaughter people you indvidually know on FA. I do not think there is any wrong in creating for gothic aesthetic or ironic creative fun a character who is say a Satanist, Nazi, or fascist dictator, or some whiny trenchcoat columbine wannabe, so long as this character's point of view is created for the sole purpose of being just that- a character's point of view. NOT THE CREATOR'S, NOT THE ARTIST'S. I will not stand on a soapbox for you and whatever your twisted principles might be. And I don't expect you viewers to react as if I am, when you should see such artwork. People may create Buddhist, or Catholic priests, or voodoo witchdoctor characters, but they are usually not trying to convert you to whatever their ideaologies or politics are. So if I display someone who you consider to be 'on the dark side', I won't be blamed for it because I am not pushing any such things either.
In short-
Pic of Anthro Nazi taking hot pose or providing artistic story narrative that has to do with their history= GOOD.
Pic of beaten up black person hung in a noose by fist of Anthro Skinhead guy with the slogan WHITE POWER underneath just for the sake of saying it= BAAAAaaaad.
You get the idea folks.
With those rules down, I think you should find everything pretty fair and straightfoward. Email me or reply back to me if you want any commisions done.
Sweet Dreams, folks!

Sweet Dreams, folks!
So. Here we are.
Posted 18 years agoI have come here due to my growing interest in anthro art and character designing although I myself do not draw them all that often, however I have been told the community here is friendly and will accept other kinds of artists...I have friends here and while I unlike many of the folks here did not come seeking an alternate to places like Deviantart, (my gallery there is still up running there at www.lainwiththedevil.deviantart.com) I hope that I will come to like this community just as much. I want to meet some new people and become closer with folks I can possibly network with in the future. I am interested in pursuing a career in concept art, storyboarding, and comic books. I am also a pretty good writer, and so if anyone around here has got some furry or not furry characters they've been itching to comic-book-ize, but can't figure out a way to write dialogue or are tied up in backstory, I love contributing ideas and any help that I possibly can cos I love writing tales. :)
Anyway, I hope I can be half as talented as the people I've seen samples of from here, and uhm...yeah! That's all. :P
