It's hard to know where to begin, there is so much that I want to say, but sometimes it's best to make things simple and forward.

Two years ago today a great man lost his battle that he had been fighting since his birth, but the calm courage he
had is something I will never forget, just like the first and only time I met him face to face at Confurence 10 in 1999....

James Hardiman treated everyone with the same amount of kindness and respect, and it was through him that I
truly felt that this is how you treat your fans, interact with everyone at the Dealer's Table, and how you conduct
yourself as an artist and businessperson. His art had an amazing blend of both realistic and toony. He wasn't
afraid to be in your face, quite literally, and he had a sense of humor that worked perfectly with his variety of characters.

I have been told that I am a progeny of his, and I couldn't be prouder of that compliment. I still have a thank you
letter he wrote me back in 2001(?), and it was from that letter that I learned how to reply in kind to those who wrote me.

His passing hit me hard. At the time I was hiding from many things, one of which was the fandom. I was dealing
with 6 year bout with crippling depression, and when I found out James was gone it affected me to such an extent
that it actually brought me out of my depression and back to the fandom, searching for my friends.

But I want to show you all how much he meant to me, and how much you all mean to me.
Thank you so much for your support, not just here on FurAffinity, but in my life.
You all mean so much, and I can never, ever, say thank you enough.

Greetings to all. This is going to be a little bit all over the place...

I hope you are doing well and things are at their best. I just got back from an 8 day trip to see my parents.
I will not lie, my time in California was very grueling and difficult. My mother is not doing well,
and I took an urgent flight to go see her and help my father out. She has fibromyalgia, epstein barr,
chronic fatigue syndrome, diabetes, and was diagnosed semi-recently with Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's,
and dementia. Every day I was doing my best to hold myself together, sometimes I did alright,
most times I fell apart. I wish to pass on something my father said to me in hopes that it can be of insight to you all...

"We were planning on traveling at this age (they are 70), but we can't go anywhere.
I can rarely make it out of the house for groceries because she needs full time care.
I'm glad we were able to go on trips and camping when you were younger and growing up.
Live life to its fullest. Don't worry about the petty things. Don't argue about the petty things."

Now that I am back in Washington again, I don't quite have a different outlook on things,
but a more intense definition of what I want out of life. I have always been as happy-go-lucky as I can be,
and grateful for all the good that is in my life. I try to look at things optimistically in that I can see, hear,
taste, touch and walk. I have a roof over my head and food in the fridge. I'm doing pretty damn good!

My creed is that today is the last July 8th, 2016 there will ever be, make it count!

With the Orlando massacre in mid-June I made it a point to see as many friends in person that I could until
I somehow got two lateral cuts on my eyes and was in recovery at home for a week. However I was healed
up enough to go march proudly in the Seattle Pride Parade to the point where I could barely walk for a
week afterwards.

Life is always going to have tragedy in it, and some will hit you so hard that it will make you want to quit.
To that I encourage all of you, go out there and live. Do what you dream! Make the most out of life because
we only have once chance, so fill it with positive family and friends that bring you up. Life is too short to
feel depressed and alone.

Ye gods, BLFC'17 has moved dates to be on my birthday, and I'll be turning 40 that year.

Whatever shall I do there?

Whatever shall I do? O_O

2am the other night went to the ER for the worst pain in my life.
Shaking, hyperventilating, crying. Turns out I'm having a kidney stone.
It started up again last night.

And that's just the highlights. There has been death. There has been emotional trauma.

I don't know how I'm going to make an 11 hour drive to BLFC or sit at my Bazaar table for 6 hours (FRIDAY ONLY)
but I'm going to try my best. =S

Life doesn't want you to keep up. Life doesn't want to go easy on you.
But I'm telling myself and all of you that you're in a fight to the death with life.
Whether it's depression, guilt, fear, anger, or just plain old bad news, you have to keep going!
You have to keep walking and taking steps. You find your TRUE friends who love you no matter what,
who don't hold CONDITIONS over your head, and you put your arms around each other's shoulders, and walk TOGETHER.

I tell myself "You know what? I have my arms, I have my legs. I can hear, see, taste, touch. I have a roof over my head. I'M DOING PRETTY DAMN GOOD!"

When you're being attacked in real life, you are in a fight for your life.
You can't let fear overwhelm you, you can't curl up in a little ball.
You have to defend yourself, and you have to FIGHT BACK with EVERYTHING YOU GOT!
You go for the eyes! You attack the throat! You kick and claw and scream and flail!
YOU GO FERAL ON YOUR ATTACKER!

Life is the same thing! Depression is the same thing! Fear, anger, all of that CRAP that is POISONING your life.
All those so-called friends holding mistakes you did in your past like a tether around your neck. CUT IT LOOSE.
GO FERAL ON LIFE! This is the last Wednesday, May 11th, 2016 there will ever be! Make it count! Don't be a victim!

A true friend of mine since 1998 told me yesterday
"Regret is just a tether holding you to the past. You cant move forward with it wrapped around your throat."

Drop all that dead weight. Shrug it off like a backpack. Do it now. You can feel that weight.
You can feel that pressure. You can feel that stranglehold around your neck.
And I'm telling you...it doesn't take a feat of strength to get rid of it. Just shrug it off and walk forward.
Just unclasp that death grip around your neck. And walk forward. One. Step. At. A. Time.

Life is too damned short to wallow and feel regret and "if only I did this". You did what you could.
Keep moving forward. Learn from any mistakes. Move forward. Just. Keep. Swimming. Dammit.

Another friend gave me a wooden carving the size of a softball. I didn't understand what it was.
"Look closely...it is a man, curled up into a ball, his head in his hands. This symbolizes you are the cause and solution to all your problems."
The answer to your problems is you. You can turn them off. You have the solution. The only thing holding you back is you.

FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS

GET OUT THERE

ALWAYS BELIEVE YOU CAN

CREATE EVERY DAY

THE ONLY TIME YOU RUN OUT OF CHANCES IS WHEN YOU STOP TAKING THEM
