Furry
Posted 7 years agoSo, I haven't been on this site in years. I am not sure whether I want to get fully involved again. I still do Megaplex and recently started working with Emerald Fur Summit.
Do I still have any active friends on here?

Ping
Posted 11 years agoI haven't posted since August? WTF is this madness?
I'm still alive. Ramping up for Megaplex while holding my own rock band together.
Also, I just farted. It reminded me to check FA.

Nicotine
Posted 12 years agoI realized that I will never be able to completely quit nicotine using any of the methods I've tried so far. Trying something else this time. I finally switched to an e-cig. Takes some getting used to, but my GOD am I feeling so much better these days!
Skimming the page....

Fap Bunny Week 2013
Thought: How is that different from the other 51 weeks?

Dog Tongue
Posted 12 years agoA great way for your pups to indicate their desire to get up. If staring at me doesn't work, a mouth full of pitbull tongue will usually do the trick.
Outlook better than expected
Posted 12 years agoGo to pool party, get in pool. Find out pool actually closes at dusk. Proceed to swim and drink anyway. Cop shows up. "Pools closed, you gotta go". We leave. No drama.
That was a seriously cool cop. Didn't ask about the drinks (no glass, but still). Didn't card anybody. Didn't even go into super dick mode. That was a SERIOUSLY cool cop. Everyone at the party was also seriously cool about it. Nobody gave him crap about it. Nobody got defiant. We all just left peacefully. Why can't it be that way all the time?

Two to Life
Posted 12 years agoTwo to life. I'm serving a two to life sentence, tried and found guilty of stealing a girl's heart. I'm bound 24x7, held to her with no chance of parole. I could probably get out, but I know outside of this, there's nothing for me out there.
I think...she might be the one. Keeper of the key to my heart. She has put up with a lot of my BS (and if you know me, you know how maddening it could be), and has been there every step of the way. Together we've grown, learned, and laughed.
Here's to the past two years, and no hope of an 'early release'. I love you,
novamonster. Just as much as this day two years ago.

Hmf
Posted 12 years agoDiapers all over the front page. Not really bothered by it, but seem to be seeing a lot more of that these days.
Unthrocon, eh? Some con in Utah decides to throw their bash on the same weekend as MFM, then decides to even hold an 'ice cream social'? Really creative guys. Way to make yourself stand out.
Is the human race just out of ideas? It seems that there's nothing left. Nothing new. Nothing refreshing coming out. Same themes over and over... Music, TV, stories... all the same.
I'm bored with this planet. I want off.

Florida Furs Mailing List
Posted 13 years agoUgh. Since when did the Event Calendar and notification system become a hookup / introductory system?
Subject: "A New Florida Furs Event Has Been Created"
Message: "Hi, I'm new in BumFuck Egypt, and I want to know if there are any other furries here?"
I call it abuse of the system. Also a bit annoying.

Credit Card Update September
Posted 13 years agoWow. It's almost October already.
As of today, my credit card balance is up a bit to $6575. This might seem like a bad thing, but consider:
-MFM Hotel
-MFM Gas
-MFM Dining
-Pre-charge for one night's stay next year
-$400 for Toki's annual vet visit and heartworm/flea treatment supplies.
All in all, I think I'm doing really well with managing my money. The more I play with things, the more I find money hidden in plain sight that I didn't know existed. Quickly heading for financial freedom.

Oh god, my dirty mind...

MFM 2012
Posted 13 years agoI would like to write a huge journal about this year's MFM. I really would. I could go on for hours, but you wouldn't read it.
MFM is an amazing con. It's not because of the programming or the hotel staff, but the attendees that make it so special.
Highlights:
-Arriving at the hotel
-Exploring new things with Nova
-Checking into the hotel
-Introduction of Derp Husky as a character
-Sleeping in the hotel
-Jello Shots!
-Doing things when I should be sleeping in the hotel
-TC's Chili
-Cold AC in the hotel
-Elevators that worked almost all weekend, with very reasonable exception (no power)
-Awesome room mates at the hotel
Pitfalls of the weekend:
-Packing at the hotel (Bastards stashed carts in the rooms!)
-Checking out of the hotel
-Paying the hotel
-Driving away from the hotel
MFM is a con that really appeals to the emotional side of me. I make it a point to be in fursuit during opening and closing ceremonies every year. The reason is because I usually tear up.... Welcome Home gets me like that... I don't know how to give a convention that kind of a feeling. I don't know what can be done by the staff to make the con so family oriented. So close...
I overheard a conversation comparing the recent Megaplex convention to MFM and it really summed it up... Megaplex is a great show. The whole production is well run, coordinated, organized, and extremely professional. Everyone there is on the same page of the script. MFM doesn't have a script, and the production is more like a non-profit community theater or a silly skit at a family gathering. Things get messed up, schedules are missed, but everyone is coming together for the sake of having fun.
The true nature and driving force behind MFM became readily apparent when the con was under a tornado warning on Sunday night. Several hundred people all confined in a hotel space illuminated by auxiliary lighting, no AC, no power, no panels... just hanging out and having fun. Board games, jokes, conversation, laughter, comfort for those who were scared... it was amazing.
A part of me changed this year. I lost a very deeply rooted flaw of mine, and am glad to be rid of it. I don't know how to explain it, but I know that it's a good thing to be rid of.
I cried a few times this weekend. Tears for happiness, tears for the pain of another, tears for my own sadness. I laughed more this weekend than I have in a long time. I connected and talked to people the way that I have always wanted to. Not putting on a show, not trying to stand out and be noticed. I was me, for once. For one weekend, I was home with my mate, my family, and my friends.
It was hard to pull out of that hotel parking lot, knowing that it would be a whole year before I would be back. At the same time, I have to wonder if the magic, the emotion, and the connection must end just because the convention has. The rest of 2012 and 2013 will be an interesting time for sure.
At least I have one solid piece of evidence that there will be an amazing year to look forward to next year. The hotel has already charged my deposit for next year.
