STAG ARMS pleading guilty to Record Keeping Violations
Posted 10 years agohttp://www.courant.com/breaking-new.....222-story.html
Shocked to see this in the Facebook buzz today as Stag Arms pleaded guilty to record keeping violations, and as a result the current owner must forfeit the manufacturing license. Does this mark the end of Stag? Probably not as he'll be selling the company and a new owner can legally pick up the manufacturing license. However this is an example for all businesses to follow... Don't lose track of your books! When I worked firearms retail they were crazy about book keeping and for good reason.
Hope ya'll having a good one!

Preparedness
Posted 10 years ago ,Preparedness;
Webster dictionary states the definition of preparedness as such: "the fact of being ready for something : the state of being prepared" preparedness in the new age can come in many forms. Buying extra canned goods in case there is an especially hard winter. Keeping a 1 gallon gas can in your trunk in case you run out of fuel. Keeping an extra charger for your phone in case your main one breaks. These are fairly normal ways to have a small level of preparedness. But what of those who go all out? Building an underground bunker with its own water source? Yeah sure that's preparedness but who can afford the time or funds to accomplish such a project? What are some down to earth things that you like to do to maintain a certain level of preparedness? (For any type of emergency situation)

Assault weapons ban of 2015
Posted 10 years ago House democrats recently introduced a new assault weapons ban. The ban would go far beyond what the original Clinton era ban did, banning common sporting rifles, hunting rifles and commonly available handguns (scary" assault handguns" like the glock 17) the ban would render millions of magazines with the ability to accept over 10 rounds against federal law.
This kind of ties into a suggestion to bring up the .22 LR ammo craze that has swept this nation.
It seems to me any time that something like this happens, ammunition on shelves happens to dry up over night. People hoard it, distributors take advantage of what is left (if any) and price gouge worse than gasoline on the east coast after hurricane Katrina.

Work Horses, Show Ponies, and Safe Queens
Posted 10 years agoRemember the first time you got that really expensive (for your budget, anyway) pair of sneakers? Were you afraid to take them out of the box? Did you wear them, but keep a paranoid eye out for gum on the sidewalk? Or did you say "fuck it" and run through every puddle you could find, figuring that since they're shoes, they're meant to get dirty and are probably easily cleaned off?
How many people apply these behaviours to their guns? You've got the out-of-production collectibles that are perfectly functional in every way, "But they're collectible!", so they never leave the display case.
You have the $2000 Kimbers that are taken out to the range to show off to the local country club president, and maybe they're shot once or twice, but then you're up until three in the morning trying to get it factory fresh again.
And finally, the pieces that look like you could run a dump truck over them into the mud (if you you haven't already), and they'd still function. Serbian SIG clones, Filipino 1911's, Charter Revolvers, Hi-Points. They're not exactly Saturday Night Specials, but they're inexpensive enough that they wouldn't be any great loss if they failed your torture tests.

Posted 10 years agoOk, we have all probably run steel cased ammunition at one point in time or another. For some, it is a staple of our plinking ammunition. Some of us do not like the idea of steel cased ammunition because the chamber is steel, or because the majority of it comes from Russia/Ukraine (although it is on the rise here in the US as

Seeking new Admin!!!
Posted 10 years agoHey folks,
Vandal here,
I know this page has been a bit dead as of late, and I do apologize for that. My job has me working crazy hours, and what little free time I get tends to get used on other things.
That being said, I'm looking for an admin, maybe two, but I'm at least bringing one new person aboard. You post journals relating to firearms / firearms rights / firearms news / etc. and favorite pro-2nd Amendment stuff you see floating around FA. We don't really post much here as far as uploads, but journals are what gets people talking the most so we focus on that primarily.
If you're interested please comment on this journal and briefly explain what you have to bring to the table. I'll look over the comments when I can and I'll message anyone I feel is a good fit for the job.
Thanks, and again, sorry for the lack of posts! Being a grown up sucks sometimes X( ....... No wait, being a grown up rocks, you get a carry permit, and follow "gun porn" on Tumblr... :D

The Controversial Subject of.........
Posted 10 years ago..................... Fursuit carry!
Yes, we went there.
Seems to be a rather controversial subject, the whole idea of carrying a lethal weapon while in fursuit. In some places it is illegal (primarily due to your face being covered) and in other places so long as you have a carry permit it is acceptable. Do you think it's a good idea when legally allowed? Does hindered vision discourage you from carry? Maybe your handler carries?
Go ahead, dive into the subject. Have at it!

Buying a USED firearm
Posted 10 years agoThis journal comes at the request of
SaberMantis
So let's hear pointers on what to look for when buying a used firearm of any kind. Maybe you see a WASR10/63, or a Colt LE6920 sitting on the used gun rack, or maybe even a shiny S&W Revolver in the display case. You pick it up, and now you gotta inspect it to make sure you're not wasting your money!
What are some of the things you look for when buying a firearm? Share them in the comments to give others pointers!
P.S. - Sorry for the lack of posts! I just moved into a new place, and have been working seemingly non-stop for the last couple weeks!

Colt Firearms on it's death bed?
Posted 10 years agoColt is a company every firearms enthusiast (and even anti-gun person) knows the name of. The 1911 is what comes to mind for most people, as well as the AR-15 series. It's a company that today most people either love or hate for various reasons, and lately Colt has been in a heap of trouble that could cause the company to tank.

How do you feel about Colt's current situation? Do you feel it's a company many will miss, or do you feel that the company should've died out a while ago? Share your thoughts in the comments below, and if you own a Colt firearm perhaps it's time to take special care of what could become a sought after collectors piece someday!

"Guns and Video Games"
Posted 10 years agoI thought this would be an interesting conversation starter, and it has to do with guns and video games!
Does it annoy you when you're playing a game and a firearm doesn't operate like it does in reality? A great (very common) example would be the SPAS-12 in well... Everything it has appeared in. From Half-Life 2, to Call of Duty Black Ops, I don't think there has ever been a game in which the SPAS-12 wasn't loaded like your typical 870 or 500, and for anyone that has fired one in real life you're aware that simply sliding shells in like an 870 just isn't the case in real life. Or what about Call of Duty Black Ops, the M16-A1 having a 3-round burst feature? Or the fact that the M16-A1 somehow has a flat-top upper in the 1960's when you equip an optic? Though I guess that is more "out of period" isn't it? XD
Leave some comments about what you've seen in video games that annoys you when it comes to how some guns are portrayed in their operation or features!
Stay safe, and keep your CCW close fuzz butts!

Pennsylvania FURRY RANGE-MEET!
Posted 11 years ago*phew* it's been a while folks, sorry about that! Life has been extremely busy, but I'm back to bring you this special announcement!
Myself and Astro are organizing a Pennsylvania based range meet that is going to take place at Delaware Valley Sports Center in North East Philadelphia. Please note that the main reason for this early post is to get a better idea of what sort of turn out to expect for the meet.
***Date: March 14th (Saturday)
***Location: 101 Geiger Road - Philadelphia, PA 19115-1003
***RANGE INFORMATION/WEBSITE: http://www.delawarevalleysportscenter.com/
***Time: Meet up at Noon, shoot till' everyone get's bored
***Rate: $20 per person, per day
***Rental Information: *check DVSC website, or call* If you need eye protection, and ear protection the range may have rental equipment however I highly suggest you call ahead to make sure... Or just visit Walmart and buy yourself eye and ear protection for dirt cheap!
***Ammunition: You may bring your own ammo! :) Rifle and Pistol calibers allowed. No steel core ammo!!!
***Firearm types: Rifle, Shotgun, Pistol
*** DVSC does have a gun shop on site for ammo, gear, etc.
We'll also toss around the idea of an after-meet at a local restaurant. Might be nice for everyone to sit down and eat afterwards. I shouldn't need to put an age restriction on this because pretty much if you need a parent with you then this isn't the event for you, and if you're under 18 the range isn't going to let you shoot without a parent anyway.
POST UP HERE IF YOU ARE THINKING OF GOING!!!
OR IF YOU USE FACEBOOK:

Stay safe folks! And stay armed!

Vandal Critical Case going on in New Jeresy, READ!
Posted 11 years agoFor those that aren't aware, currently there is a case going on in New Jersey involving a young single mother who was arrested because she carried a pistol into New Jersey. She made an honest mistake, as she thought her Pennsylvania LTCF was valid in NJ, and she was arrested during a traffic stop when she notified the officer she had a loaded firearm in the car.
http://www.nj2as.com/
Ms. Allen made an honest mistake. She's no criminal, and doesn't deserve the mandatory 5 years in prison the state is trying to force on her. She obtained her carry permit in her home of Philadelphia because she feared for her children's safety after problems in Atlantic County NJ in the past. The same prosecutor that just put that scum bag from the Baltimore Ravens in a "first offenders program" for knocking his wife out in an elevator is trying to make an example of Ms. Allen. New Jersey always seems to cater to the rich and famous, however when a person who works hard, and makes an honest mistake (who didn't hide it mind you, she notified the officer) has the book thrown at them as hard as possible.
Spread the word, help the fight for her as best as you can. As any of us here in the Mid-Atlantic know, New Jersey's insane, draconian gun laws MUST CHANGE, and they need to change now!
I invite all other pro-2A groups here on FA to copy and paste this journal if they want to their own groups. Ms. Allen needs all the support she can get, and if the word spreads, and more people are made aware, hopefully things will start to change in New Jersey.
Have a good night, and again, please spread the word!

thank you all so much
Posted 11 years agosorry the gunnerfur's group is not more active, but i just want to thank every one of our supporters! i wish i had the time to do it all personally, but i frankly dont have the time, but we officially have over 400 watchers, and, as creator, i never expected this to get so big! sorry to delve into my personal life, but i have been dealing with depression for a few years now, and seeing that there are 400+ people out there who would know of something i created and say that it is a good thing really did help me. but enough of my personal bullshit, back to guns!
what is everyone's favorite gun that they own? personally i have to say that mine would be one that i recently sold, and am going to replace soon. its just a simple 12 gauge single shot with a 19 inch barrel, no sights at all. it wasnt the prettiest or mosst useful gun but let me be the first to tell you that it is a ton of fun just to dick around with! blow away bottles of water, and this was a five pound gun, loading it with high brass makes it feel like it is a hand held howitzer! so what are all your favorite guns?

skidindingo To my fellow Pennsylvanians
Posted 11 years ago
Vandal the Cat here, and this is a message directed towards those among us who reside in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.... Now mind you, before you read this I myself am a Libertarian, not Right or Left. As most of you are aware the Governor's race has come down to the "Tom's", that being Tom Corbett (R-Philadelphia) vs. Tom Wolf (D-York). My fellow Pennsylvanians, as many of you know our gun rights are currently under attack by the Left-wing largely because we are a Commonwealth that stands it's ground and refuses to fall to the Liberal influence that has utterly destroyed the surrounding states, with the exception of Virginia which is the only state bordering Pennsylvania that remains gun friendly. A vote for Tom Wolf is by all means an anti-gun vote if that's the man you're considering voting for. Hell, I'll admit I was actually considering voting for the guy myself because I am not that thrilled with Corbett's attitude towards gays, and at the time Wolf kept his mouth shut on the gun rights issue and I didn't think he actually cared... However now with gay-rights in the Commonwealth basically secure, what is the Democratic party running on in Pennsylvania now? Firearms.... The truth lately has finally been coming out about Wolf and he's a text book Bloomberg Nanny-state supporter who WILL work to eradicate the freedoms we as Pennsylvanians enjoy that our brothers/sisters in surrounding states do not have. What you can expect out of a vote for Wolf is a push for an assault weapons ban similar to what is in effect in New Jersey and New York, and our LTCF's being screwed with. The man even supports individual municipalities having the ability to restrict firearms carry as they see fit which is currently illegal in Pennsylvania.
At the end of the day we all should vote for who we feel confident in, however this is the bottom line regarding the gun-rights issue in Pennsylvania and the Governor's race this year.

The more things like this happen in California the more I'm asking, what are Californians thinking come election day??? Really, I don't understand how anyone with a functioning mind can stand living in such a pathetic state. The gun politics merely reflect the rest of the stupidity involved in the state's politics which are all terrible. Then again, what did you expect out of a state so far left that it thinks it can re-write the US Constitution? Did I mention 24/7 Wall Street rates California as the worst run state in the country? :P

S&W and Ruger say "Screw you California"
Posted 12 years agohttp://www.washingtontimes.com/news.....rnia-due-micr/
It appears that due to a new law requiring micro-stamping, U.S. gun manufactures Smith & Wesson, and Ruger are ceasing all sales to the state of Commiefornia. And as I always tell people, if you live in California or New York and value your gun rights, perhaps now is the time to consider moving to another state.
