Alright, ACTUALLY using this again
Posted 6 years agoSlowly starting to upload the depressingly small amount of artwork I've created since I last actually uploaded to FA, and maybe some commissions I've gotten.

Art
Posted 11 years agoI have craploads of art to be posted, both personal and commissions, but I'm having difficulty working up the motivation to post it. I'll probably continue to post a bit here and there as I feel like it, alternating personal and commissioned artwork as usual (I do this to make myself keep drawing)
That was fun
Posted 11 years agoSpent the weekend at Anime Milwaukee.
If you saw a Batou wandering around, that was me. On the slim chance that anyone who might read this was there, that was me. Saw a few furry folk wandering about in their fursuits, so there's at least a slight chance.

Surgery, healing, graduation, and art
Posted 11 years agoPrevious surgery worked so well that I needed it on the other side (arms were two different colors due to differing blood flow), so got that taken care of. Lost my voice from the air tube, really really completely and it took forever to start healing but now it's coming back finally. Had been marginally worried that I had lost my capacity for speech entirely for a bit.
I have a ton of art that needs to be scanned and posted, intermingled with a bunch of commissions that I haven't posted yet because I try to post one thing of my own per commission, in order to make myself draw more.
Also, just graduated college, and one of my resolutions is to try to draw at least once a week, so maybe I'll actually be more active around these parts.

Surgery complete
Posted 12 years agoI'm not dead! So there's that, and I have almost no negative side effects from my surgery beyond the ones to be expected from getting your neck cut open (there was a risk of numbness and weakness in the effected arm and such, none of that at all).
Surgery heads up
Posted 12 years agoTomorrow I go in for surgery. Nothing major, just fixing something that's screwed with blood flow to my arms for a while. Even still, there's a slim chance of something going wrong, so should I fall off the face of the internet, well, you can guess at why.

Noir requests
Posted 12 years agoA long time ago, I did some shadowy silhouette noir kinda things. Although my tablet is in questionable condition (some days it works, other days it acts like the nib has been jammed in and gotten stuck a little bit), I feel like trying my hand at these again. Toss out some suggestions and maybe I'll throw some free art at you.
Impressive
Posted 12 years agohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIlWKGTO6dA Watch this. It tells quite a story, without a single word. It's slow, but that's pacing. It adds to the feel of the artwork as a whole, and this is truly a piece of art.
Time to fight
Posted 12 years agoThose in the US may have noticed that there's a huge deal going on with gun control right now. Recently, Vice President Biden stated that the problem could be dealt with by an executive order. If you support gun control, think of it this way. Imagine if the president had written SOPA/PIPA into law by executive order. That would be a massive abridgment of the first amendment, in the same way as anything regarding the second amendment would be. It guts the separation of powers, and establishes a precedent of Rule by King. Maybe you agree with what's being done, but what if power changes sides, and someone you don't like is in the White House? Would you like them to be able to deal with any problem by executive order?
Anything that happens with this will be bad, and no matter what they claim, it's an attempted step towards outlawing guns. Depending on what they do and how they do it, there might be MASSIVE consequences. Please, call or email your representatives, and tell them to resist any legislation.
http://capwiz.com/nra/dbq/officials/ this will help you find your representatives and write to all of them in one go. Tell them that the Second Amendment is important, and this legislation is attempting to implement a proven process to eliminate it. Even just "closing the gun show loophole" would allow for the creation of a backdoor registry, and almost every arms registry in history has lead to confiscation.

Well Happy Birthday to me
Posted 13 years agoTechnically it's on the 11th, but here's why this is going up now; shortly before Christmas, my old gaming laptop started to fail, so it got shipped to Dell. It was a pretty nice laptop, and I had a really good hardware warranty on it (which had completely paid for itself and possibly the entire computer already). They were back-ordered on some of the parts... then they got them, and found ANOTHER part that they had to replace, also back-ordered.
So they decided to instead give me a brand new open-box (never used, but box was opened so they couldn't sell it as new) XPS 15Z to replace my old XPS 1530. Free. As in, I got a brand new computer worth ~$1000 without paying a dime. Not for shipping, not for handling, not for repairs, not a penny.
People complain about Dell's breaking, but as long as you get something good enough to be worth putting a warranty on, their customer service is top notch (at least in my experience).
So thank you Dell, thank you for a sweet birthday present.

Leviathans
Posted 14 years agohttp://monstersinthesky.com/ Leviathans is a game from Catalyst, who do the Battletech miniatures tactics game, as well as Shadowrun, the tabletop RPG. Got to try out a demo of Leviathans at Rock Con, and I have to say it is basically amazing. It's based on the Battletech system, yet simplified, streamlined, and simultaneously expanded. Unlike Battletech where you just have the front and back of your mech, in this you have 4 areas on your ship to shoot from and be shot at, which makes life far more interesting when you get half of your ship shot off only to bring the hurt to the enemy using the other undamaged side. So far I've only played the beginner's rules but I look forward to the game being released and picking it up. Now I just have to pick which fleet I want to go with, they all have their strengths and weaknesses.
As a steampunk, just thought I'd share this with folks, it's DEFINITELY worth looking into if you enjoy tactics at all. Reminds me of a turn-based version of the first Star Trek: Starfleet Command, which makes sense given that starfleet command is in turn based on the tabletop tactics game that plays like a far more complicated and less steampunk version of Leviathans.
Rambling message short, try it out if you ever get the chance, it's totally worth it.

World Steam Expo
Posted 15 years agoAnybody going to the World Steam Expo in May (27-30)? I'm planning on going, maintaining costume the whole time (mine is simple), and doing things like get old fashioned dinner in a dimly lit pub, get an old fashioned straight razor shave at an old fashioned barber, possibly get my shoes shined, etc. I'm planning to get there by train.
Music to drive Very Very Fast to
Posted 15 years agoAnyone got some suggestions? I'm trying to put together a CD. To qualify, it has to be the sort of song that you cannot listen to while driving without cruise control, or you will redline your engine.
So far I think I have Blood Sugar, the pendulum mix of Voodoo People, some motorhead, some Joe Stump, some Offspring.
Ultimately, I have a vehicle planned that I plan to skim across a lake. If it does that well enough, some day I want to see if I can pull off a crossing of the english channel with it, because why not? it's insane, and I want a nice little playlist of Music to drive Very Fast To to help keep my foot stomped to the floor
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PW9gNaPDghw yes, it works. It's just never been tried on this scale with a car built with pulling it off in mind, that sand rail is built for climbing, lots of low end torque, not enough sheer gofast.

New Icon, animated even!
Posted 15 years agoI finally have gotten around to making myself a new icon/avatar. It is fairly awesome. It took me about 3.5 hours, but I was being picky and made some time consuming mistakes and was relearning to use a tablet.
Anybody want one? What would you pay for one? I don't know what's a fair price, the original drawing is pretty easy, but then I don't know how much it'd cost for someone else to do it. I could make the various other frames of it different and fancy if desired, but it'd cost a bit more depending on how much I had to redraw each frame.

Posted 15 years agoToday, I am 20. I finally have my first gun, and went to the range, shot a .22LR AR-15 and a .22 LR P226, and a Glock 17 and a .44 magnum. mmmmmm .44 magnum. I also got to shoot a 5.56 NATO AR-15
In just a bit I'll be going to a nearby military surplus store to see what I can find.
Edit:
Got a compass, magnesium fire starter, and a military flashlight. compass and fire starter have been placed into a never-used pocket in my coat, along with an old pocket knife I never use otherwise, so my coat now has a designated survival pocket.

Commissions
Posted 15 years agoFinally going to open commissions. I'll be adding links with examples later on, but for now I'm just going to put up a price list. Want to draw more, like money, but lack motivation to draw. Money provides motivation for me. Give me money to draw you stuff. Prices go more or less in order, things lower on the list will require most of the steps above on the list to do. Difficulty and time requirement determines price. My skills are relatively low, so my prices are low. Anything beyond cleaned up sketch with shading gets transferred to digital even if it started on paper, because if I touch something that draws in colors and look at something I've drawn on paper it usually will spontaneously destroy itself.
Sketch: digital or pencil and paper, $5
Simple Shaded Sketch: Pencil and paper or digital, $7.50
Silhouette: Digital, $7.50
Inked sketch: pencil and paper or digital, $10
Colored sketch: Digital, $10
Colored inks, no shading: $12.50
Colored inks, with shading: $15
Full colored piece with shading and inks and extra time spent cleaning up everything (Inks may be turned off if you want the "no inks" look, I know how to do that so it looks good, or would figure it out until it was satisfactory if asked): $20
Full everything, inks, colors, shading, with fancy background with inks, colors, shading, extra cleaning everything up: $25. Will probably take me more than 10 to 15 hours to do.
Half-assed backgrounds are $1 ($2 with color), and will be simple and possibly out of perspective or have not-straight lines, good backgrounds are $5 ($5-$10 with color, depending on difficulty of coloring and shading and stuff). Background fees not included in the full everything piece.
Additional characters extra, based on difficulty of all characters involved, may cost anywhere from nothing to the price of a second equal level commission. Things with Siege are more or less exempt from from this unless it's a very difficult thing to get right. Any of my other characters also are more or less exempt from fee.
Action, perspective, etc, within reason is no extra charge, unless it's extremely hard to draw, then $2.50-$5 (requires more than an hour or two of trying to get to look right to get to where it is good enough). However, mild action and perspective and so on is preferred.
Action and combat are preferred topics though pin-ups or naked characters are acceptable.
Will not draw scat, cub porn, watersports, rape, weird crap that I go "yeah no, not happening." when asked about. If you ask for something mentioned here, or ask and I say "not happening" and then you continue to ask, I will inform you that you are a stupid chump who does not know how to read.
Would prefer not to draw porn, babyfurs, pretty much anything I kind of don't want to draw but will do so for money: Add $2.50-$5 for how much I don't want to draw it but am still willing to.
If I draw something I'm not good at, whether or not it costs extra depends on if you are willing to accept it being just a little off from perfect after I put in my best possible effort, or if I have to do hours of practice and possibly another sketch or two to practice until my skills are up to passable levels.
Note me with inquiries, leave a comment for questions, comments, concerns, suggestions, etc. Again, I'll have examples up later on when I do one up to my current levels of skill and am back in practice.

Various interesting things
Posted 16 years agoFirst off, http://www.tsmusicbox.com/ The Timesplitters Music Box. It has all the music from the first 3 Timesplitters games, which are great games with awesome music. If you haven't played them, go buy them and do so if you like shooters. The first is straight up arcade style FPS action, with basically no storyline beyond what is described on the box. TS2 introduces an element of story, but it's brief and the main focus is the action. Timesplitters: Future Perfect is a game with a full and often hilarious story. All of the games span a number of eras, from 1930s gangster era to 2400 or so with sci-fi weapons. If you like FPS games, you're doing yourself a HUGE disservice if you haven't played the games.
Also, what other game will give you the opportunity to play in multiplayer as an ANGRY, GUN TOTING MONKEY?!?! Even if you don't play the games, get the music because it is great.

Interesting computer problem
Posted 16 years agoMy computer will not allow me to create new folders for some reason. I can't right click and do it, and if I try to do it with the little drop down menu in a folder it just doesn't do anything. I've got vista. Any tips?
