Journal about things
Posted 16 years agoOnce I finish practicing on my anatomy and get back into the swing of drawing, I'm going to actaully open commissions and get a paypal. Need to raise 100 dollars for a mosin nagant, want to get one, accurize it, and turn it into a sniper rifle. I'd need more money after I got it to pay for the glass bedding kit, the materials to pillar bed it, and then the drop in scope mount and new rings (I'd just take my new cheap-but-good 4x scope I got for my pellet rifle that is a general rifle scope off and put it on that until I had money for something fancier like a 3-9 x32 power scope).
Also, college is starting up again shortly. I have my own apartment and oddly enough I'm surviving with absolutely no problems so far. I've always tried to be capable of surviving on my own if something unlikely, stupid, and bad happened that I was somehow left without anyone to help, but I've only recently learned to actually cook and stuff. Thinking about getting a 5 gallon bucket and a plunger to wash my laundry because the washing machine is $1.25 and the dryer is the same and I'm cheap.
My apartment, however, has mice I have just noticed. Honestly now that I know he's there and will keep all my food up out of reach, as long as he doesn't stink up the joint or ruin my stuff, I don't really care if the little guy wants to help me clean up after cooking (occasionally things fall on the floor while I'm preparing food), I'm not going to hold his being alive against him too much. Honestly in a 100+ year old building I'd be suprised if there WEREN'T mice or something. No roaches though that I've seen, which is good.
Expect more art, need to draw more so I don't lose it. Anyone have suggestions on commissions prices?
Also, Google Chrome is rediculously great after having been using IE for so long.

Commissions
Posted 16 years agoCommission me. I want to buy a gun, I have no money. Give me money to draw things with guns so I can buy a gun, because I said so. I'll set up a paypal if there is actually interest in this.
Be interested in giving me money, I command you.

Mechs, Robots, and VTs
Posted 16 years agoI havn't gotten enough of them lately. I played some Steel Battalion when I was home. should have played more.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?d.....83772796999916 only battle video. It's freaking sweet, almost as good as what you can make from Armored Core, just.... slower
I need a PS3 so I can get the two new Armored Core games. I have all but I think one, maybe two on the PS2. Need to get those too. Gotta find Mechassault 2 as well. Still need to beat the rest of my Mechwarrior games
Obviously, once I set about doing this, it will rekindle my desire to draw mechs, as well as my drawing abilities for mechs.
VTs in Steel Battalion remind me a TON of the MTs from the later series AC games, when they start getting a bit more complex instead of being bricks with guns.

19
Posted 16 years agoYup. As of the 11th, I'm 19. Went shooting at a range for the first time, started with a taurus revolver in .22LR, then went to a Springfield Armory 1911, then to a .357 magnum (the guy who checked my dad and I out the .357 was suprised we were up to magnum calibers already, since we told him it was our first time).
My groups were consistantly pretty tight, even though I'm WAY out of practice, and the .45 didn't shoot very straight. Consistantly shot low, which I couldn't tell while I was shooting long range because I didn't have my glasses on so I couldn't actually see my holes in the target. Shot more than a few bullseyes with the .22, and kept all my .357s pretty close to the bullseye even shooting high speed, one handed.

Home for the Holidays
Posted 16 years agoAnd thus, without my scanner for sketches. Going to try and do art things, but anything not done digitally will result in a small flood when I finally return, depending on how much I can get past my art block that has decided to hit me. I've been having tons of ideas bu no time to draw, and now I've got time but no motivation or ideas that I can remember
FFFFFFFFfour AM.
Posted 17 years agoI have previously mentioned that being a bouncer will make you hate people. There are certain reasons. Primarily, a lot of people lose all the social niceties when the booze starts flowing. Some people also think that, when a bouncer steps in front of them to block them, the obvious answer is to attempt to go around them despite being repeatedly deliberately blocked from doing so, even if it means attempting to crawl through. They will usually do this while completely ignoring the fact that you're telling them they cannot go where they're trying to, and will ignore everything until you grab them to stop them, at which point they will get pissed at you for stopping them. Another easy way to piss off a bouncer is to get mad at them for enforcing policy and doing their job. Bouncers are litterally paid t be killjoys. It is our job.
Also, bouncers DO NOT get all kinds of crazy sex from random women they take home every night. Bouncers are the ones who close the bar down, which means we're stuck there at LEAST an hour, if not more beyond everyone else.
Also, Guilt, your PS3 and PSP are at my house, swing by, they're right in by the two couches in the living room.
A bit of good bar wisdom: Talk is cheap because supply exceeds demand.
Yeah... 8 hour shift, it's now after 4 a.m.
I'm gonna go to sleep now.

Bar wisdom and other things
Posted 17 years agoOne thing I have learned about being a bouncer so far: If you don't already hate people, you're going to start. Fortunately, however, I already hate people and think they are chumps, so it's not too much of an issue. Had numerous people trying to force their way into the bar after it was closed and getting mad at me and the other guy watching the door. One of them tried to metaphorically wave his law major at us and say that we couldn't legally push him back out of the bar, though it was plenty fine for him to try and force his way past us. When I was out watching the beer gardens, some random guy came up and started trying to pick a fight with some of the patrons too.
Bar Wisdom: Wisdom from the writing on the wall of State Street Brats
1) "It is what it is"
Truer words have never been spoken.
2) "Things are more like they are now than they ever have been before"
Again, that's pretty darn true
3) "Unless you're the lead dog, the view never changes"
Pretty self explanatory.
4) "This too shall pass"
The world has been turning for hundreds of billions of years, and shows no indications of stopping.
More will come eventually when I can remember other signs.
TF2 stuff
As much fun as this game can be (now that I've actually started to like it, due to finally starting to get back into the habit of gaming, something life has been refusing to let me do properly for the past few years), it can be utterly infuriating too. When it isn't freezing at start-up or after loading a map, it's inexplicably lagging on my ~$1700 gaming laptop. Beyond that, I randomly will just have days or times that I utterly suck, which pisses me off immensely, since normally video games are one of the few things I'm truly good at, though maybe that's just wishful thinking back to when I was actually able to game occasionally and still had my skills up.
Other stuff
Whenever I try to type replies or just in any kind of internet form, my laptop seems to slow down with what it can feel of me typing, which is highly annoying.
Also, after recent psychoanalysis, I've been told that I have social anxiety and dissociative tendancies, which translates to "I don't like interacting with people, particularly in groups, and I've separated myself from my emotions". Nothing like psychoanalysis to point out that everything about you is a mental disorder that should be fixed.
Also, Calculus sucks.

The Laptop
Posted 17 years agoMy new laptop came. It already has minor issues and despite my best efforts refuses to see my old desktop on a network to get some of my stuff off of it. Other than that, it seems to work great, even the laptop keyboard doesn't utterly suck. I hate laptop keyboards
It also came with Adobe Photoshop Elements 6. This is mostly designed for editing photos and stuff, but it has a pen tool with a full line of brushes, as well as layers if I figure out how to use them, so for my limited talents it's plenty. I may actually do stuff with color at some point again. Still gotta make sure my tablet works with this. This is widescreen and my tablet isn't, hopefully that won't cause some kind of stupid issue (though my luck just about guarentees it).
Now to let Team Fortress 2 slowly download, because it refuses to install from the disk the way it did on my desktop. Steam name is Gungrave333.

The Story
Posted 17 years agoI finally finished the prologue chapter. It's here
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1546925/
Read it. It's pretty good, except .txt format killed my ' and ", and a few . which is really annoying.
Tell me what you think.

Just call me The Bouncer.
Posted 17 years agoIt's official, I'm hired as a bouncer at the bar across the street from my dorm. Pay isn't great, but it seems like promotions can come fast to those who work hard, plus if I end up on any table bussing shifts I get some extra tips. Work is very convenient for the most part though, across the street and late enough that I can get all my homework and stuff out of the way before I need to be over there.
They say the bar has relatively few fights, since their policy is that bouncers try to talk things out (which is a good policy), but if they need to have bouncers that means that obviously something has to happen once in a while. From what my dad said, if I'd gotten a job at another bar a tad farther away, the Kollege Klub, I'd be seeing a barfight pretty much every night or so.

Second day of college and a journal with actual contents
Posted 17 years agoSo I'm off to my freshman year of college. So far I've got my dorm room to myself, which is pretty sweet, but even so I have all my game systems in an almost unstealable setup (locked in a heavy steel footlocker, padlocked shut and chained to my very-sturdy bed, in case someone's able to lift the 75+ pound box and fit it through the door).
I've so far bought a few games for cheap at the gamestop that's less than a block from my dorm thing, and purchased some excellent metal by All That Remains, from a shop that sells exclusively metal and punk.
I've even got a job application in, to become a bouncer at the bar across the street from my dorm. My dorm is right smack dab in the middle of everything.
I also bought a 2008 Buyers Guide Complete Book of Guns, oddly enough from the school store computer department, which is about 2 blocks away.
Now I just need my laptop that can actually GO, and a copy of Team Fortress 2 (which I have yet to be able to locate)
I also got a "Learn to Draw" kit to help improve my technique. Now I just need motivation. And a flat surface upon which to work, something that I can't seem to find in my room anymore.
Also, I can get a free course in how to use Flash and stuff, so i might do some of that so i can do animations and maybe i'll take one to up my ability to make websites so i can make better ones, maybe on commission.
Also, If anyone's interested, I MIGHT BE OPENING COMMISSIONS. in all caps because this is kind of long and most people probably won't read everything.
So far, I have yet to make an actual friend on campus. Meh, whatever.
Odds of TL:DR=99%

An interesting weekend
Posted 17 years agoFriday, I left my job for the summer. Landscaping paid reasonably well, but now I need time to get stuff in order for college. Speaking of college, I have my new laptop ordered, an XPS 1530 with the works. It'll come with photoshop on it when it arrives, which will hopefully happen before I go off to college.
Drove to West Virginia and back to move my sister in to her new apartment. The drive was uphill both ways through Ohio. The clouds in Ohio seemed really low, so either we were up high or they were down low, but either way they looked to be under 1000 feet above us in places.
Saw at least one furry on the way back in a service plaza on the 11th at dinner time, in Ohio, or at least I'm assuming it was a furry based on the flourescently colored hair and tail.

New job and stuff
Posted 17 years agoSo, I got let go after one week of painting, but I got a recommendation to another job, a landscaping job. Same pay, roughly the same hours, a lot less boring. This is the end of my first week of landscaping, already it's had results on my appearance, shoulders are getting bigger already.
I also went to summerfest thursday night, saw Drowning Pool and Throw The Fight. I also claimed the second place spot, then the second place again at Quick And Crash. Havnt shot in a while, was a bit off.
Guilt took third and fourth place.

More stuff.
Posted 17 years agoFirst real day of my new job today. Prepped houses for painting for 11.5 hours straight, in the sun. Forgot sunblock on arms (only skin exposed), remembered hat. Hat kept paint chips from raining on me. That was really nice.
I've got to wake up at 5:30 every day, be at work by 7, supposed to get done at 5 unless I have to work late. No more late nights for me, at least sunday through wednesday, anyways.
Prep work is really, really tedious.
At least it pays well, if I can get faster at it.
I'll finally have money, though I'll see very little of it after I put aside most of it for college.

ACen 2008
Posted 17 years agoJust got back a little bit ago from ACen. My first convention ever (reminded me a lot of State Fair around here, except geekier and less boring), at which I went to my first rave ever (it was relatively fun [would have been more fun if I were less boring] but it was loud [as one might expect]). I cosplayed as Dracule Mihawk from One Piece, and it was cool. I got to carry around my gigantic sword, which was bigger than I was supposed to be allowed to carry.
Pictures will be soon, as soon as I can find them on the internet.

Story needs characters
Posted 17 years agoI've got a story I'm writing, a Steampunk Neo-Western following Siege in his travels. I need characters, names of people, possibly some situations for stuff to happen, whatever. List stuff here and I might use it in the story, or use it to base something else on. The first chapter/segment, which i'll provide the link to here later when it's up, will kind of set the tone, but basically anything Steampunk, Western, a mix, or anything else will fit in. this story takes place in the Wastes (western style desert), towns, cities, aerocities (flying cities), so basically anything goes.
Also, this will be more an action/adventure sorta thing. Except as rare humor, there will be no yiff or anything even vaguely resembling it in this story.

Stuff
Posted 17 years agoFirst: I have started a new story, what I will call a steampunk Neo-western. With anthros. and combat. and stuff
Second: I have decided to do a slight redesign of Siege. He still has his old form and his face and clothes all look the same, but he's a little smaller, and has no wings or spikes.
Third: If you can figure out where he's fighting in the new "Taking Cover" picture I did, you might get to be featured in a shootout with siege, or in a game of some sort in a saloon, or something. It's a much easier question than it sounds. Name a town from a movie, the movie the town is in, or the name of the set where the movie was filmed.

Various Things
Posted 17 years agoAs usual, I don't like posting separate journals for things.
First, I got a wii. And Brawl.
Second, I have all my entries in for
Jreed's game. He made villains, I made heros. It will be epic.
Third, my streak of artisticness seems to have burned out.
Fourth, soon I'll probably be posting a picture of my results so far from a massive amount of working out and dieting. If you're not interested in seeing a muscular male without a shirt, don't look at it. There's no "before" pic because I wouldn't let anyone take pictures of me before, but anything that's muscle is progress since this summer.
Fifth, I'm running out of things to put in here.
Sixth, Wii friend code is 0433 3234 5842 8661. Don't add me without introducing yourself, unless I know you.

A few things
Posted 17 years agoFirst, I got a haircut saturday and the guy trimmed off my mustache without asking. I've been trying to grow that thing for 5 MONTHS. My mustache grows incredibly slow.
Second. Anyone interested in trades or OC (provided I can make the freaking thing work).
Third. If I were to get paypal, would ANYONE be interested in commissioning me? It'd be cheap, because I suck and am unreliable.
Fourth. *insert fourth item here*
Fifth. I can't remember what items 4 and 5 were supposed to be, but there was something originally.

Stupid but funny video
Posted 17 years agohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y47cuQGwbgU
A couple of my friends and I had to do a drama for creative writing, so we did it as a movie. It's a spoof of MMORPGs, that we roped a few other people into helping us with. Turned out pretty well, needs subtitles so you can hear what's being said at times. I'm the warrior in the golden cardboard armor.
