Musical Fur
General | Posted 14 years agoI was talking to one of the members of my local Furgroup and mentioned that I've always wanted to do an original or a parody song, like:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVT8PulC24g
But I could never find anyone with musical talent at the same level as me. Bare in mind, I'm not saying I'm a God of Music, but I've been playing music on various instruments for years! Either I find people who are interested that have -no- musical background, or people who are experts and put me to shame.
Is there anyone out there with a fair grasp of musical theory and can play an instrument, but isn't a complete expert? Someone who's at a similar: Experienced Intermediate level such as myself? >.< I'd really like to work with someone on a project.

[CLOSED] Time for my FREE ART RAFFLE!
General | Posted 14 years agoSince I Opened my Art Commissions I've been commissioned twice: Once from my local Furgroup, and a second by offering my services to a fellow Fur on FA in their Journal. ...but I want to get some more commissions.
The activities I've had to fill up my time will be ending soon and I want to bring in some more money to afford a new iPod Touch to replace the my old 2nd gen that died T_T. I figured a FREE RAFFLE is the best way to keep practicing and advertise my services.
---
Onto the Raffle itself:
I'm Offering FREE CON BADGES ($10 Value/each)!
I will open 1 slot for every 10 entries, rounded up.
1-10 Entries: 1 Winner
11-20 Entries: 2 Winners
etc,.
On top of your initial entry, I will grant you additional entries for each person who was referred by you. So if 2 people mention in their entry that they heard about this from your journal you get 3 Entries in total (You + 2 = 3)!
Entries open until: 9/30 @ 11:59pm EST
That gives you over a week to join in! Winners will be determined that weekend
RULES(Please make sure your comment includes all of these):
1. BE A WATCHER (New watcher, old watcher, it's all the same - Yes, I will be checking)
2. PIMP MY RAFFLE IN A JOURNAL OR IMAGE
3. POST REFS
4. INCLUDE WHO REFERRED YOU!
---
Prizes will be delivered digitally and you can print them to your preferred size. Previous Contest winners are eligible for this contest. Reposting images in your Gallery will be permitted as long as credit is given to me as the artist.
UPDATE: Sorry for the delay, I'm choosing numbers now using random.org
Winning Numbers:
28, 45, 15, 1, 24, 26, 38
I took screenshots with timestamps as proof of winning numbers, but with 7 different screenshots it seems pointless to upload them all - I'll hold onto them incase anyone contests the winning numbers. Only one badge per person per winner, so in the event that someone has multiple winning numbers, I will redraw numbers.

Personality Test - Borrowed from VitalSlade
General | Posted 14 years agoYour Results You are Prudent, Calm, and Unflappable.
Prudent
You look before you leap, think before you act, consider what you're about to say before you open your mouth to speak; that's why you rarely have to eat your words.
You usually don't get excited easily or blurt out the first thing that comes to mind without considering the consequences.
Calm
You rarely become irritated, generally accept people as they are, take things as they come, and feel relaxed in most situations.
You do not let a minor annoyance escalate to a confrontation. You don't regularly snap at those around you or fly off the handle with little provocation.
Unflappable
You are not a slave to your emotions. It takes a lot to upset or unnerve you. That's why you're a good person to have around in a crisis.
You don't let it all hang out, which means that those around you often don't know the pressures you're under or what you're going through. You're not the kind of person people run from in a crisis.
Innovative
You come up with a lot of ideas; if one doesn't work out, there's always another waiting in the wings. You often have interesting solutions to difficult problems. You're practically a one-person brainstorming session.
You are less interested changing the world than in dealing with things as they are. Unlike those who spend all their time trying to solve problems, you prefer to zero in on things that work and stick with them.
Aesthetic
You appreciate art, beauty, and design; you know that they are not superficial but absolutely crucial to living the good life. You have good taste, and you're proud of it. Those with a high score on the "aesthetic" trait are often employed in literary or artistic professions, enjoy domestic activities — doing things around the house — and are enthusiastic about the arts, reading, and travel.
You don't think it's pretentious to be moved by art and beauty. You're not one of those who believe it doesn't matter what something looks like as long as it does its job.
Creative
You are good at solving problems, coming up with original ideas, and seeing connections between things, connections that most other people miss. People with a high score on the "creative" trait often are employed in such fields as finance and scientific research, and enjoy avant garde and classical music as well as literary fiction and scholarly non-fiction.
You do not shun abstractions and concepts in favor of the concrete and tangible.
Intellectual
You are thoughtful, rational, and comfortable in the world of ideas. People find you interesting to talk to. You're the living embodiment of the saying "You learn something new every day." In general, those with a high score on the "intellectual" trait are employed in such fields as teaching and research, and are enthusiastic about reading, foreign films, and classical music.
You do not avoid abstract conversation, experimenting with new ideas, or studying new things. It bores you to stick to the straight and narrow of what you already know.
Resilient
You bounce back quickly from adversity. For you, all setbacks are temporary. You don't dwell on bad news, bad luck, or criticism; you regroup and focus on solving the problem, whatever it may be.
You almost never feel that there's too much on your plate, that you don't have the strength to deal with the bad hand you've been dealt, or that you're going to lose it if you have to deal with one more problem.
Assertive
You behave in a confident and forceful manner, take charge of the situation, raise your hand in class, stand up for what you think is right, and lead others. Among those who have a high score on the "assertive" trait, many have jobs in which they are valued for their organizational skills as well as their talent for supervising others.
You are not interested in fading into the woodwork, leaving everything to fate, taking more time than necessary to accomplish a task, or avoiding confrontation.
Organized
You like to think a task through before you embark on it. If it's the slightest bit complicated, you make a list (even if it's only in your mind) and methodically work your way through it. When you have a goal in mind, you're not satisfied until you reach it.
You are not one of those people who ignore the details, and you don't understand how anyone can get anything accomplished without thoughtful planning ahead of time.

The Adventures of Superpup
General | Posted 14 years agohttp://www.networkawesome.com/show/.....uperpup-pilot/
A failed Television pilot from 1958 which was spawned from the golden age of Superman comics.
THIS IS LIVE ACTION, NOT A CARTOON!
No, this is not Krypto the Superdog, I've never seen anything like this in TV, Movies or Comics before. It's entirely a Fursuit TV Show.
I can see why it failed, the directing and writing were both lacking, not to mention the horrid puppetry. If this were re-imagined today I'm sure it would do well.

Tumblr
General | Posted 14 years agoI decided to make a Tumblr. I know, last one on the train... but better late than never.
The tumblr will be dedicated to Poetry and Prose to help me stay in the habit and keep my writing practice up. I'm hoping to make it a daily thing, but I wont kick myself if I miss a day here or there.
Blogs have never really been my thing - It's tough for me to keep up with them like a diary, so hopefully allowing this to be a creative outlet will keep me on track.

Please feel free to follow me and tell me what you think of what I have already posted.

Birthday Candles - An Exploration
General | Posted 14 years agoToday is my birthday, and looking at those candles, lit and full with light I couldn't help but explore what the symbol of Birthday Candles could represent.
Traditionally Light represents a person's life, a person's mortality. Human life truly is just as fragile as fire and can be put out just as easily - and one's "light" can go out forever.
...but...
Why would we traditionally remind someone of their mortality on the anniversary of their birth? Don't we celebrate a person's birth... not their inevitable death?
But that still leaves the question... why Candles? Perhaps it has to do with the wax the candles are made of. In history, Wax itself was commonly used to seal letters, being malleable enough to hold a family crest/symbol as a type of return address. Today we commonly see wax in tourist attractions known as Wax Museums where artists have constructed Movie Monsters and Celebrities out of wax, capturing their youth - a moment in time, passed. The common thread is History. Do we use candles to remind us our past, to remind us of all the years of our own personal history in order to reevaluate where we've come from and make adequate revisions to the way we live our lives in order to redirect ourselves and be better prepared for our future? ...but the only unavoidable future we all share is death - which brings us back to the fire lit atop the candles.
How about you? What is your own interpretation of why we traditionally use Candles to top our Birthday Cakes? I'm -not- looking for someone to do a web search for the history of the birthday candle, I'm looking for your own scholarly exploration of this question. You don't need to define a specific answer, sometimes the exploration is more important than the answers. Comment with your responses!

To MLP or not to MLP
General | Posted 14 years agoI decided to watch the Pilot episode of MLP tonight while waiting for my girlfriend to get off work.
I was impressed with the production value and even the script. Lauren Faust did a great job of rebooting this franchise for a new generation... that being said, I'm definitely -not- a brony. To all the bronys out there, enjoy the show - they did a great job and I wish it many seasons... I just won't be watching.
If you don't know what a Brony is, then you probably aren't one lol

General | Posted 14 years agoFREE SHORT STORY RAFFLE: OUTLINE
General | Posted 14 years agoAs some of you many know, I hosted a Short Story Raffle last week and the winner was:
felekar
We've been in communication over FA Notes and I've read a couple of his stories and taken soe notes on details, settings, characters and intentions. I think I have a good outline for the story!
It'll probably be 3 chapters (unless I really get into it) and I've had to ask permission from 2 other Raffle Entrants to include them in the story:
Ekou (Permission Granted)
FenrisLupin (Permission Granted)
Assuming I'm given permission to use both of the additional characters here's the basic outline as I have it mapped out:
1
-Characters: Felekar, Tentacles, Dragon, Fenris Lupin
-Dream Sequence: Felekar in lab. The tentacles grow larger and larger out from his tail. Eventually they lift him, tail first, in the air away from his experiment. From his tail emerges a main body looking like Kthulu. The Kthulu image dissolves smaller and becomes Fenis, who controls the Tentacles. The tentacles wrap around Felekar saying how he requires sustenance and begins to rape him. Dragon suddenly appears, yelling and harassing him as he’s raped.
2
-Characters: Felekar, Dragon, Ekou, Tentacles
-Felekar wakes up in a cold sweat and in a puddle of drool on the lab table as Dragon stands over him in anger and disappointment. Puddles of chemicals and broken class decorate his desk. He goes back to working, allowing his Tentacles to assist him. Other lab workers give him dirty looks except for Ekou, who goes to assist him and asks about the Tentacles. She touches them to investigate and they return back to his tail, dropping a full vial to the ground. Felekar explains and they arrainge to meet later to ease her curiosity.
3
-Characters: Felekar, Ekou, Tentacles
-The doorbell rings as the Tentacles are teasing Felekar. He throws on a robe and finds Ekou at the door for their “date.” Curiosity ensues and she is quickly wisked into the tendrils as the Tentacles stimulate both of them. Withstanding release from either, the tentacles force them together only for Felekar to release inside Ekou.
Remember, this is just the story outline. Some basic facts that will get my fingers typing.
Comments and Suggestions are strongly encouraged.
