Illin like a villan
General | Posted 17 years agoWow, I haven't been this sick in a long long time. In three days I've slept 60 hours (really, 60 hours), and body still is telling me I'm tired. Saw Shaun of the dead today, could really sympathize with the zombies. I've had a fever so high I was hallucinating, a stomach bug, and a respiratory infection. This virus is pulling out all the stops. Bright side, doctor got me some good meds and I'm getting better. I ate bread today!
Sorry, I just had to dump about this somewhere. It's frustrating to lose this much time. You guys stay healthy.

Surreal Family Life
General | Posted 18 years agoMost devious Christmas present ever... My brother-in-law bought World of Warcraft for my father-in-law, my other brother-in-law and myself. The gift fits for me, I'm the computer programmer nerd. But my father-in-law is a retail manager and my other brother is a former lineman for the Oregon Ducks. How we've all gotten so lost in this game is beyond me. So, yeah, I've been away from FA dinking around for the Horde. See? Even my broids are getting sucked in!
For those of you curious how your finished broids are coming along, I've just applied the iron on backing to them tonight and they are going out in the mail tomorrow. Sorry for the delays. Plan on running a couple more I've been working on this week as well. So log in later for the new patches!

I've been thinking a lot about my embroidery and slowly getting more nerve up thanks to the kind reception it's getting, so I have a couple of questions for y'all:
1) The only con I've been to is the Texas one
kuro-kai made happen. That hasn't happened since, sadly. Where's a good place to start out if I want to see if I can make it selling embroidery in an alley (enough to semi support my trip, or at least show people I exist)?
2) Furry auction sites... You guys think putting finished shirts, patch commissions, ect. up on one might actually work for me? What would you want to see up there if I did? Which one is the best?
3) If I was to try and pair with any artist and make some stuff for them, who would you want to see me work with? ("Ooo! Me! Me!" Does work, but who else?)
4) If I go and register a company for my stuff, what do you think the name should be?
There. I feel less total responsibility for my actions already.
Broids Update:
verm caught my journal offer for a free broid at 1500 hits, and being the first to hit me with a screen shot after that point he will be getting one of my next patches. Glad some of you kids out there are paying attention. I'm still having fun running around and offering my stuff to artists/characters I dig. You'll see the results of that soon enough.
As far as gifts for Christmas, very little on the commission front, which is fine. Gives me the time I need to finish up gifts for friends of the non-furry kind. Have another, simpler, design for a polo coming up. Keep your eyes peeled.
Events:
I'll be in Dallas Friday and Saturday for the company Christmas Party! Going to be at a really nice hotel downtown, sounds like I've found a pretty decent place to work for. Just have to fly there Friday evening, and back Sunday Morning to make another party for Family. Not that I can complain: free food, open bar, more free food made by family, beer and stories, another damned chia pet from white elephant. All good fun. Just know if you're trying to reach me this weekend not to expect much of a response.

That's right, intuitive interface software for plush pattern design. They even make a huge cold air balloon out of a pattern in their demo video. The software looks easy to use, and honestly like a lot of fun to play with. I have yet to look into the demo program they offer. Mayeb I'll post some results sometime.

Part 1: Commissions
I've been getting a lot of questions about commissioning patches, trading for patches, and other general stuff, so I thought I'd take a moment to address them.
The commission prices for individuals of my patches are in this journal entry.
I've also been asked a few times about multiple badges or multiple copies of a single badge. If you're going to commission me for more than one badge, I can cut you a bit of a deal. If you want multiple copies of a single badge it gets better. Part of my price comes form the time and effort I put into making the stitch design. So once that's out of the way I'm only dealing with the time it takes to run the design on the machine and the cost of supplies. So the more of a single badge you order, the cheaper I can go on each individual badge.
With the holidays coming up, I'm going to try and make as much time as I can for comissions and general stitch giftery so feel free to note me if you have any questions, or want to make a comission. If things start to back up, I'll start publishing my queue.
Part 2: Nostalgia
I got the itch to actually dig up a telnet client and log onto FurryMUCK again recently. It's like a yearly itch usually. Not many people I knew when I first was there realy hang out on it anymore, but I thought I'd just hit the park and see what was going on. It was an active night, and for the first time in years, I actually had a pretty good time goofing around on there. May mean the itch will be coming back more often.
So on that nostalgia kick, look forward to patches themed after furryMUCK and the military... Don't ask. Or do, I blame Slipstream, calbeck, and 
rabbi-tom even if the interaction was minimal.
Part 3: Fursona Meme
Which lead me to do this whole fursona meme thing... Mind the links.

2) Where did the name of your Fursona come from?

3) What species is your fursona and why did you choose that species?
Rez is a balloonie dragon.
Dragon is not the specie I originally chose, but I'll get to that later.
As far as the quirk, I found t on the MUCK and ended up liking it.
Also found macro as well, but not something Rez is all the time.
4) What color is your fursona and why?
Gutierrez's skin is black, and he has rust red hair.
His eyes are hazel.
Other than that he has a few special markings:
The number "31" is "Tattooed" on his lower back,
and from his fingertips to his elbows and from his feet halfway up his shins he has flame markings.
He'd say they make him move faster, but they're a hold over from how he used to look.
5) What is your fursona's personality and how does this compare to your irl personality?
Rez is pretty much me, maybe a bit more outgoing, okay a lot more outgoing. But otherwise the naive and dorky dragon is mirroring the same kind of person.
6) What is one item your fursona owns that is significant to you irl?
Nothing in particular.
7) What is one thing you think you would say to your fursona if you could meet?
It would start with some sort of rather strong expletive out of surprise.

Old School Rez, Early 1999
I was a kid when I first started into this and Rez reflected that.
He wore a martial arts ghi, despite the fact I hadn't has a class in four years even then.
He was dark and brooding, then again I was a teenager at the time.
He spoke Spanish half the time and I'm not Hispanic.
He was also a nighstallion, because of my love of the Xanth series at the time.
And then after a while of hanging around the muck, meeting some different people, things changed, mostly.
Gutierrez in early 2001, pretty much how he is now.

Part 1: Commissions
I've been getting a lot of questions about commissioning patches, trading for patches, and other general stuff, so I thought I'd take a moment to address them.
The commission prices for individuals of my patches are in this journal entry.
I've also been asked a few times about multiple badges or multiple copies of a single badge. If you're going to commission me for more than one badge, I can cut you a bit of a deal. If you want multiple copies of a single badge it gets better. Part of my price comes form the time and effort I put into making the stitch design. So once that's out of the way I'm only dealing with the time it takes to run the design on the machine and the cost of supplies. So the more of a single badge you order, the cheaper I can go on each individual badge.
With the holidays coming up, I'm going to try and make as much time as I can for comissions and general stitch giftery so feel free to note me if you have any questions, or want to make a comission. If things start to back up, I'll start publishing my queue.
Part 2: Nostalgia
I got the itch to actually dig up a telnet client and log onto FurryMUCK again recently. It's like a yearly itch usually. Not many people I knew when I first was there realy hang out on it anymore, but I thought I'd just hit the park and see what was going on. It was an active night, and for the first time in years, I actually had a pretty good time goofing around on there. May mean the itch will be coming back more often.
So on that nostalgia kick, look forward to patches themed after furryMUCK and the military... Don't ask. Or do, I blame Slipstream,

Gutierrez
2) Where did the name of your Fursona come from?

3) What species is your fursona and why did you choose that species?
Rez is a balloonie dragon.
Dragon is not the specie I originally chose, but I'll get to that later.
As far as the quirk, I found t on the MUCK and ended up liking it.
Also found macro as well, but not something Rez is all the time.
4) What color is your fursona and why?
Gutierrez's skin is black, and he has rust red hair.
His eyes are hazel.
Other than that he has a few special markings:
The number "31" is "Tattooed" on his lower back,
and from his fingertips to his elbows and from his feet halfway up his shins he has flame markings.
He'd say they make him move faster, but they're a hold over from how he used to look.
5) What is your fursona's personality and how does this compare to your irl personality?
Rez is pretty much me, maybe a bit more outgoing, okay a lot more outgoing. But otherwise the naive and dorky dragon is mirroring the same kind of person.
6) What is one item your fursona owns that is significant to you irl?
Nothing in particular.
7) What is one thing you think you would say to your fursona if you could meet?
It would start with some sort of rather strong expletive out of surprise.

Old School Rez, Early 1999
I was a kid when I first started into this and Rez reflected that.
He wore a martial arts ghi, despite the fact I hadn't has a class in four years even then.
He was dark and brooding, then again I was a teenager at the time.
He spoke Spanish half the time and I'm not Hispanic.
He was also a nighstallion, because of my love of the Xanth series at the time.
And then after a while of hanging around the muck, meeting some different people, things changed, mostly.
Gutierrez in early 2001, pretty much how he is now.

I just got my wisdom teeth out today. All four of them. Seems the dentist won't let you keep the two good ones if they're on top and the bad ones happen to be the ones below them. So I've got a weekend of mushy food and ice packs ahead of me. Bright side, all kinds of excuses to sit around and embroider or draw! I have a patch for me and a couple of merit badges for not me in mind, but we'll see how things turn out.

Best eye color: The kind of eyes I can lose myself in, color isn't important.
Best hair color: It's not the color, it's being able to run my fingers through it.
Clothing style: whatever the situation calls for, though I favor jeans and on my wife I like a nice comfy skirt. I guess comfort is key.
