Hey all- just wanted to make a small update as to why my progress has suddenly slowed to a crawl-
Two main things; I'll try NOT to ramble like I normally do. (post edit: i did... sorry! there is a TLDR section down there if u don't wanna read allat hehe)
1. (the main one ig)
About a week ago (bit more now), I went with my boyfriend to help someone out with their car (context bc i THINK this is what actually caused it,, p sure it was the compression testing that did it, screwing the tester into the plug sockets SUCKED). Later that night while I was trying to curl up in my blankets, I noticed it hurt so BAAAD to move my right (dominant) arm / wrist a certain way. Legit just chalked it up to my bracelet pinching my arm hairs and went to bed. Needless to say, it was NOT the bracelet and the pain continued. (maybe it wasn't going to be that bad and I slept on it wrong, who knows!)
I initially thought it was a simple pinched nerve, but with it still causing me issues I worry its the grim reaper.... (carpal tunnel).
It's not HORRBLE and I can still draw without *too much* of an issue, tho it has been slowing me down a bit. Reaching to unplug things or grab slightly heaver items has my wrist feelin like a hot iron got placed on it. I still hope that this goes away but seeing as it hasn't, I thought I'd update. Perhaps I'll just have to add a wrist brace to my Christmas Wishlist this year. [sigh]
If anyone has any management tid-bits on this that would be sooo helpful >.<
2. (the "dumber" one)
Tired! of posting! slop! I'm just going to say it like it is. I found that on the day to day I would find myself working on at least one commission that just... wasn't coming out the way I wanted it to. It wasn't the "masterpiece" I hoped for, just some porno slop. Posing is bland, face is wonky, the colors suck, the shading looks like mud; whatever the reason. Yet due to deadlines and constraint, I'd continue anyway, finish it, and call it a day. No revisions, no time to redo, just post it! You gotta get sumn out right now! Otherwise the folks will be in a frenzy!!! But... I'm not a porno slop shop. I'm not AI; I'm not a robot. I wanna make art! I wanna make pieces that y'all love!
I wanna get you your moneys worth.
I find that I myself will commission things (very rare these days) and be disappointed. I can tell that the artist just didn't enjoy drawing the piece- it's not as "good" as the others. (and i can see/tell otherwise too ofc!) And I can see the same vibe going for myself these days with the sheer amount of coms I push out. And I don't want that! At all!
So with that- I've been taking a bit longer in my process of getting art done. I've been allowing myself to redo, erase, scrap, create new poses and concepts. If it's bland I scrap it end of story. But that DOES take time and also eats at my attention span (sadly).
But anyways- I guess there's not much else to say on that forefront. I wouldn't call it burnout- and I don't think that's what it is. I don't really HATE my work atm, it just needs more time and energy put in to make it better! So I thank everyone for their patience (esp when I send you 50 different wips that end up getting scrapped until i find the perfect one haha)
TLDR:
1. might have carpel tunnel. dunno but it sucks. i can still draw! just slower now....
2. my art sucks bootycheeks and i'm trying to improve; so it's just a longer "wip" process.
Anywayyysss yeah! That's about it as of late. I just woke up to write this- going to be getting to backlogged dms today so bear with me! I still implore all commissioners to ping me if I still haven't responded! Sumn funky happened with Discord's recent update and now all my notifs go to my phone and never my PC! (used to be the other way around idk what they did- DX)
But yeah- thank you all! really trying my best to get caught up with Pregtober and previous coms!
